The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Mom, I'm heading to the park!" Tobias yelled as he shut the door behind him. As he did he could faintly hear the sound of his mother yelling back at him. "Be careful! And watch out for those rats with wings!" He paid no attention as he ran around to the side of his house, pushing the garbage can up to the side of his house and climbing onto the roof. He took a piece of bread out of his pocket. "Okay, who's around? Who's around?"
A few birds flew over, eating and studying Tobias as they knew what he wanted. By now most of the birds knew why he climbed to the roof. Tobias looked at each of them; who would he pick? They were all good, but he only needed one. After selecting one, he concentrated on the bird enlarging it as its feathers morphed colors. He then hopped on it and soon after the two sped off into the sky towards central park.
Coo Coo. "What do you mean you have to go!?" Tobias asked surprisingly. It seemed his ride needed to make a pit stop. And something from a bird this big was definitely going to ruin someone's day. ""Hey buddy, look, we're only a little ways off from the park. "I'll give you more bread if you can it!" Cooo... "I suppose more bread wouldn't help..."
"Hey, let's land somewhere secluded, like in a bunch of trees." The trip from his house to the park didn't take too long. That's the good thing about flight. If he had walked or taken a bus, it would've been night been night by the time he'd gotten there. Well, not really. "That looks like a good spot."
The two dropped in between a group of trees, and once grounded, Tobias would crawl off his ride, using his leg to feel for the ground below. The bird shrank to normal and would eat another piece of bread that would be thrown onto the ground. "See ya later little guy." Tobias watched the pigeon fly off in the sky venturing from out of the trees. It was definitely nice out today.
(Sorry for the slow and less than perfect reply; I'm fighting off respiratory and stomach flus >.>)
It was a nice day. Crow liked being out and about on good days.
Oh hey, bread! Half a dozen crows raced for the prize, though he wasn't starving. He was all too slow, though, and was forced to land in a disgruntled pile while some silly pigeon, previously giant and weirdly coloured (which, of course, Crow thought nothing of, because really, there were plenty of stranger things around this odd southern country) flew off.
He sighed a couple times and hopped back into the trees. Couldn't catch a break when he had a full belly any better than when he was starving. There had to be something wrong about that. You know, really wrong. Big-scale wrong. Maybe he'd offended karma at some point?
... no, getting two rounds from a shotgun at pretty close range probably countered any bad karma he had.
(Don't worry about it, I have been under the weather too.)
Just letting the pigeon go, Tobias had slowly started to walk away, admiring the snow that covered the ground. Though he couldn't tell how much had fallen, he knew things could be much much worse, and he was grateful for that.
Despite the more colorful seasonal birds were obviously elsewhere this time of year, it was still nice to come out. Just to see them in action; some people may find them boring, but Tobias thought otherwise. To him it was much different.
"Huh?" Tobias couldn't have walked too far before he started to feel an urge to turn back. Sure, they can be plentiful and around every corner, but given the area around him it seemed the most concentrated. He couldn't be sure of the number though without being there and counting though. Could be fun, right? Tobias juggled the idea in his head before stopping midstep. He raised leg turned with his body as if the second hand on a clock.
Tobias looked at his footsteps in the thin snow as he retraced his steps back to around his landing site. He examined the snow below and then the snowy leafless trees. He couldn't tell where they were, but he felt them somewhere. "Gah, crumbs..." Tobias mumbled to himself as he reached into his pockets for some bait. It wasn't a lot, so he cleaned them out, continuing to look around the area. "Where...are you guys?"
(And now H1N1 has been confirmed on my campus. here's hoping I don't get sick again >.<)
There was slightly less restless squabbling than a standard flock of crows might raise, crowding together in trees, but then they didn't need sound to communicate; they were all in each other's heads already.
But still alternately too close physically or too far, depending on how the wind blew and the tree shifted and the sun fell upon them. Black was a goo, warm colour, but it still wasn't that warm out. It was hardly summer. Summer would have green and rain and that particular strength to the sun, and picnics and easy side jobs interesting people willing to hang out on weekends. No one really wanted to do anything in the winter, especially here. Although that might be because he didn't really know a lot of people here, and wasn't as close to them as he had been to others.
Crumb alert.
Several dozen heads snapped towards the ground. Eh, not much. That kid again. Hm. He seemed to be looking around for something. He should probably clean up that mess before whoever he was looking for showed up. The first of his feet started hitting the ground even as he finished agreeing about that, finally quick enough to snap up a few crumbs. Hah!
Usually, if Tobias carried bread around, it would be a substantial amount. And usually it would be more than some crumbs. The amount that he cleaned from his pockets was barely anything, but the bits and pieces that were discarded was apparently enough for someone, if not Tobias. He disregarded them, not expecting anything of them, but then it happened.
"Whoa!" Tobias shouted, surprised. As it turns out, some crows from atop some of the nearby trees had decided to clean up those crumbs with their beaks. It was surprising to say the least. Were these some of the birds he felt in the area? Rarely if ever did simple crows influence his senses enough for him to feel the need to find them. It didn't matter though as his objective was to bird watch in the first place. They had dark black feathers that were a foil to the white snow on the ground. The darkness of the birds atop of the white really made them stand out.
Tobias stood as he monitored the event. As he did, he slowly bent his knees into a crouch to get a closer look. He then focused his attention onto a single bird as it ate. He greeted the creature with a simple hello before slowly reaching out to touch it. Though he didn't know why, there was something different about it.
