Normal? Funny choice of word, considering the people that lived here were a lot closer to being characterized as... extraordinary. Normal. Chad chuckled. "Right, minus the whole shooting beams from your eyes or phasing through the walls..." he mused aloud.
As he made his way towards the Mansion's main entrance, his long strides steady as he walked alongside James, Chad's mind was buzzing. While perhaps not his idea of comfortable, he couldn't argue that a place filled with mutants must be incredible, perhaps even completely mad. His mind went back to his days spent in group homes; they were easily six or seven kids living under that one roof, and every morning had been a fight for the shower, for the television, for the food... He assumed a place like this was ten times crazier, with all of the stray powers...
Could prove interesting... Maybe...
Once inside the Mansion, Chad couldn't help but feel somewhat disappointed. A part of him expected to see metal walls and high-tech computers all over the place – you know, something straight out of a science-fiction movie. Everything just looked way too, as James might choose to put it, normal.
"So this is a... school, right? As in English and math, and the whole nine yards?" he wondered. "And it's some sort of shelter?" he added. Was it really such a good idea, pairing up a bunch of kids and teenagers with the homeless?

"Mhmm" James nodded. The place was a school and a sanctuary for mutants with all the craziness that comes with it. As for lessons he had been attending since living at the mansion, it had all been normal junior high school year, with superpowers. The odd shenanigan and all that, caused by various superhuman abilities.
"They do the whole education system up until the end of high school and then you can do some college courses on the internet...at least that's what I think they said." James wasn't all that good at concentrating when it came to important stuff, let alone in lessons. "Its a sanctuary too, I reckon that's partly so that they can recruit people into the X-men easily...with good reason."
The X-men were still something which dominated James's thoughts regularly. After getting his sorry behind saved by one of the X-trainees, he had been thinking about the whole mutant and human equality issue more...that and about how he should really learn to fight/defend himself.
