The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Daria was content going barefoot, her sneakers tucked neatly in a small backpack.
The sounds of the woods were calming and frequent. Birds, rodents, distant sound of a waterfall-this was the sound Daria was following. She could feel the damp earth beneath her feet and the vibrations of things walking in the distance. She relayed all the sounds to Mike. Along with the smells.
They were all magnified intensly by her mutation. "I just wanted to show you what it was like." she began. "when I first met you you were telling me how you hear everyone's thoughts. I know that can be a burden. I'm glad I can't but this is quite close."
Mike was lost in the sensations of Daria's amplified senses. He looked around, marveling in the minute detaila that he could hear, smell, and feel. "It's incredible," he said, looking all around. "Beautiful."
He was, at the moment, lost for words, which was sort of understandable.

As the sun was now setting Daria lent Mike her eyes as well, her excellent night vision allowed her to see in the dark but not the normal colors.
Everything was a shade of cerulean blue the moon highlighted it giving it a haunting, eerie mood. Still beautiful.
"It is. But it took some getting used to." She said as the sound of the waterfall grew louder. "It scared me to death at first. It was too overwhelming, I couldn't handle hearing what everyone was saying..at the same time."
She walked around a tree not wanting to disturb the bunnies sleeping in a hole near by. "Now its only dangerous because I can get lost in my head sometimes. I can sit out here for hours and just ...experience."
"I know what you mean. Before I left home, it was really all I could do, beside sit in my room and stare at a ceiling. I'd sit there and let my thoughts go, just let everything in from the whole block around us. It was... a little intense."
He followed her lead, since it was her senses they were using, squeezing her hand affectionately as they went.

Daria smiled. "Exactly. When I was running, when I first took off. I was in california and we were right next to the ocean, I mean right on the beech. I was trying to hear whales." she laughed. "I used to sit on the porch of the beach house and just listen until the sun went down and started to come back up. I was so fascinated with my new powers.
"Then it got to the point where I was getting used to them. Like..bored almost. Until I met you and it reminded me that I wasn't hearing or seeing or smelling what everyone else was. Like you hear more than a normal person. I think you made me appreciate it more." she said. She stopped for a minute and listened one of her ears twitching.
"You and being in the mansion. Its so close to the woods. I began to remember why I had been so excited before. I realized there are so many things I can see now."
The waterfall came into view. It wasn't too big, it looked like somthing someone could have in their back yard..if they had a big estate. The water and rocks shimmered like sapphire in Daria's eyes and the crashing waves were purely melodic. The smell of the foliage and the water smelled like one thing-freedom and filled her senses, and there fore Mike's, with unbridled joy and relaxation.
Mike looked like he felt it too, taking a deep breath to take it all in, squeezing her hand as he experienced the surroundings like he never had before. "This is incredible," he muttered.
Then, he opened his mind to hers, and let her feel what he felt. The excited, almost manic emotions of the squirrles running around. The calm, cool relaxed feelings of the cold-blooded animals as they huddled in their holes, the rushing, free feelings of the birds.
In a way, it seemed to add a bit of completion to the scene.
Daria smiled. She nodded. "Yes, at times like this its incredible. But you of all people know its a mixed blessing." she said with a small hint of sadness.
It was much appreciated, though, as Mike knew it would be, to feel the emotions of the surrounding animals. At least for Daria's cat side it was. She stepped closer to the water and sat down, putting her feet in. Mike could feel her anxiety go up a little, but not much. She tugged at him to sit next to her.
He sat down next to her, kicking off his shoes before slipping his feet in with her. "Most blessings are," he said, shrugging. "On one hand, I've almost been killed more times in the last month than the entire rest of my life. On the other hand," he continued, squeezing her hand, "I've never been happier."

"I know what you mean." She laughed andl eaned her head on his shoulder. The sound of the waves filled her ears as she allowed herself to drift off into thoughts, their minds still connected.
She wasn't pondering anything in particular just enjoying the moment.
"I think I'd be dead or in jail if I hadn't come to the mansion." she said off handedly. I ended up here by comeplete mistake." she had never completely explained how she came to the mansion-it was never that relavent.
"I'm fairly sure I would be," Mike said evenly. "My father said he wouldn't bail me out of a tight spot again... it was dumb luck that one of the nurses in the hospital told me about this place." He grinned, trying not to laugh. "So maybe we would have been prison buddies if we hadn't come here. What can I say, it's fate."

Daria laughed. "No. We wouldn't have gotten along. Dead is if I kept doing missions for the lab on the Military base. Jail is if I stayed back in DC...I wouldn't have liked you if I spent more time with my family. "She admitted. "They have a scary way of getting into the mind."
She sighed. "On the bright side...I ended up in just the right place." she kissed him.
Mike kissed her back. "Mmm... no complaints here," he agreed, wrapping his arm around her waist to pull her close.
As they sat there, little fairies made of water started flying and dancing around the water at their feet. One of them flew up and gave Daria a little kiss on the nose before flitting back to the water and condensing into a splash of droplets as Mike grinned.
