The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Daria took a deep breath trying hard not to stare at the water. She made Mike her point of focus and simply walked towards him. When her foot hit the warm water she panicked, slipped and fell forward, threatening to fall face first into the water.
Mike was on it the moment she started to panic. As she slipped, strong arms caught her around the waist quickly, holding her tightly until she calmed down and could regain her balance.
"We've walked away from soldiers, werewolves, and dragons... I'm not going to let a little water hurt you," he said quietly, smiling.

Daria was still a little frazzled.
"A little water? It's not a little water, Mike. It's like an ocean, and it hates me! You saw it, you went in just fine, I had to fall. The pool on campus? it was fine, I'm the one who almost drowned. Hates me, it hates me." she bit her bottom lip.
"Shhh..." Mike pulled her slowly down with him into the water, which by now was almost to their knees standing. The water lapped up about an inch over the ledge they were sitting on. "Everyone slips here and there... it's just water. You get afraid of it, it gets afraid of you." He sat back, pulling her close to try to keep her from freaking out. "You calm down... so does it." And as they both relaxed, their legs started floating a little while the level kept raising, soon coming up to their waists.

Daria 's ears flattened tightly against her head and her tail curled around Mike's leg, her arms would've been strapped onto him as well but her claws were out-something she couldn't help at the moment- and she didn't want to hurt him. Instead they dug easily into the ledge as she held on, feeling the need to do so as though it would pull her under.
Mike turned off the water when it was just short of waist high... no need to rush, after all. He held her, rocking her calmingly, waiting for her to get used to the water's presence.

Daria was pressed tightly against him instinctively. Her head was on his shoulders, tilted sligthly upwards even though her emerald eyes were looking at the water, even as it stopped.
She tried to loosed her grip a bit but her claws were deeply in. She tugged and when she was free she splahed, the droplets hit her face like rain water and she had a flashback of the car crash. The images were blurry but Daria got dizzy as she felt the car turn over and the sound of crushing metal filled her sensitive ears. She tasted blood and could hear the faint screams of her mother.
She whimpered and wiped her face but her hands were wet and it didn't help.
Mike grabbed a towel and quickly dried off her hands, and face, never quite letting go of her. It was going to be a slow process, he knew... but she wanted to get past this, and he wanted to help her. He knew it wouldn't do her any favors to tweak her mind and block her thoughts, so he let the thoughts come, only dulling some of the panic.

Daria was still biting her bottom lip and she realized that the blood she had tasted was her own. She cursed but instinctively licked it off. It was only small wounds where her sharpened canines had dug too deep. She sniffled.
"They...my parents...argued alot..." she started. "They used to try not to do it around me but once hit 14 they seemed to not care anymore. And that morning, they had been fussing alot..."
Mike nodded, caressing her braids as he held her close, the towel still close by. He gave the controls a telekinetic tweak so that the tub began, very slowly, to fill again. Aside from that, though, she had his undivided attention.

Daria's panic level rose a little bit and she scooted closer until she was practically onto of him, her hands still stuck on the ledge. She looked him in the eyes to try and ignore the water.
"I don't really remember all they said but my mom wanted my dad to stop driving so fast because it was raining really hard and he couldn't really see. But everyone in my family is stubborn..." she continued, her breathing shallow and quick. Tears were forming in the corners of her eyes.
"He acted like my grandpa sometimes. Treating my mother like she was stupid just because she didn't know something. My grandmothers case was a bit different, she didn't go to school like my mom, but my mom went to college and culinary school. She just never learned to drive because she never needed to. Her father spoiled her, she always had cash to take cabs and what not." she whimpered and lifted her tail for balance but it felt heavy. She shook it and rubbed it against the towel bit it still felt damp. She wasn't too fond of that but she dunked it back in the water and wrapped it around Mike's leg again.
"Anyways...my dad didn't stop the car..." she blinked back tears.
Mike slowed the water until it was filling the tub so slowly that it wasn't noticeable. He nodded, indicating her to continue. He kissed her forehead as she spoke, not interrupting her as she went on.

She was relaxing a bit, she knew Mike already knew about the accident as far as imagry was concerned but she'd never sat down and spoke to him about it. Not really. She was mostly talking to hear her own voice though, and take her mind away from the situation. Even though she couldn't feel or see the water rising in her mind it was already threatening to go above her head.
"And the next thing I know I'm being thrown against the door and so are they. I didn't really know what was happening but I've played it out enough to realize that the car was swerving. Then it swerved the other way and I hit the other door very hard, and the car flipped, I think..." she frowned. "We ended up upside down in a deep ditch. I'm sure there was some sliding..."
Her ears raised up a little but she pressed them down again. "I always wonder exactly when the ears and tail came in... But when I realized I was alright I tried to wake them up but they were...they wouldn't wake up."
Her mind flashed with more images. "All I remembered after that is alot of light and rain. The rain was so loud it was almost as loud as the sirens and the lights...I just ran....
Mike still didn't think it was quite time for him to say anything. He held her, trying to process what she was saying. The only thing that he could think, beside reflect on what she said in amazement, was the same thought he'd had so many times before... he would never let anything hurt her if he could help it.

"Maybe a part of me knows that it isn't anything I should be too afraid of. But..." she sniffled. "I was in the car with my parents when they died. Everytime I'm near water I can see their faces...bloody and twisted. Dead people have this blank stare...it's just so...lifeless.
"I'm pretty sure I was mutated by then. The smells were so strong and the sounds were so loud and my head hurt...oh my god my head was pounding. I was so scared that I just ran when the cops yelled mutant...like I already knew they meant me. And for a moment, because the details were so vivid I thought I actually had killed them...and blocked it out." she shuddered.
"But I'd walk through fire before I go to a beach." she said. "I just feel like eventually that's how I'm going to die so I stay away from it." she finished.
