When he walked past him in the halls of the mansion, he knew he'd seen him somewhere before. There was this weird sense of deja vu that Shin just couldn't shake, and yet when the Asian racked his brain about it, nothing came up. Knock against his skull all he might, it didn't do him any good. It was simply a memorable face. Why, he didn't know, and that bugged him. It was like getting a song stuck in your head, but being unable to get the lyrics to it, or its name. Just a melody. An earwig.
He drank his coffee, sat at his desk, and gave it some time. Still nothing.
They had some donuts on a table in the break room at MRC for officers. He had a glazed one, and was tempted by the cake donut with icing and sprinkles, but yielded it to Ashton at a request. It turned out his partner adored that kind. Shin couldn't argue with that logic. With a smile and a nod, he passed Ashton the box. The cinnamon detective left with a jelly donut and the sprinkle cake donut on a plate.
The Asian listened to the chatter on his radio for a few minutes. Then, he stared at the wall.
In the MRC offices, there is a wall with various posters on it. Wanted posters, Be-On-The-Lookout notices, updates of all kinds, and missing persons. His eyes settled on one missing persons poster, and he blinked. Everything clicked into place in his head. Rubbing his forehead with a beleaguered sigh, he got to work on the required report. Someone at the mansion was 'Missing.' They'd have to talk to him and his parents about that.
