The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"You don't get it. I tossed you to the curb only to realize you're all I ever really wanted. I'd give anything...I'd go to hell and back if it meant I could have that again," he said softly, sadly, his voice almost a whisper. Looking over at her, he saw she was having trouble, so with a weak smile, he pushed himself off of the couch again and made his way over to her, in just his muscle shirt and jeans; having tossed his jacket back on the table. It was hot in that blasted room to him.
Kneeling down, he held out his arms in an attempt to carefully help her up.
The more he talked, the sadder she got, and the more confused she felt. The memories he'd given her swam through her mind, the images twisting and taunting her with could bes, should have beens. He was saying words she wanted to hear, but the threat looming over both of them made her afraid to listen. She wanted to be selfish, but selfish could make her loose things when she felt she had nothing left to loose...
He reached out to help her up, and she struggled to get to her feet. In the process her legs halfway buckled and she ended up awkwardly slumping, face hitting his shoulder. She didn't care how dumb it looked, or how pathetic, or how stupid. She held onto him for more than just physical support at this point. She held on because she knew if she let go, he might never come back.
"Maybe we're already in hell...maybe we can just stay here..." She whispered against his shirt.

Ty carefully wrapped his arms around her in this state, holding her like one would a scared toddler. Standing, he felt a few stray tears fall down his cheeks. He sat on the bed, then lay sideways so as to avoid hurting her bad arm. Kicking his shoes off, he used his feet to slide the covers back.
"I feel like this entire day has been hell," he replied softly. "But if I'm stuck here with you I say so be it..." He was holding her with the same kind of grip she held him with. He didn't want to let her go, because that would mean risking losing her again. And he wasn't sure how he would handle that.
She should have been angry. She should have been bitter. She should have felt a lot of things, but all she could feel was the relief when he held her back. She couldn't remember the last time she felt safe, couldn't remember the last time it felt like it would be okay. Maybe she was sealing both their fates. She couldn't let go though.
She felt like a will'o'the'wisp again, leading Ty off the path, sealing his demise. But as she curled up in his arms, he didn't let go, and she knew she couldn't force him to. Whoever his friends were, and whatever they would do, at least she had a chance to feel this way again. She was broken in a hundred pieces, unsure if she would ever really be alright. But she let herself fall asleep and forgot those worries for now.
They said you got shot by cupid. No one warned you it was going to be a gun not an arrow.
