Probably gullible. Uh huh. Aiden's expression? Totally not impressed, and not improving as Persi continued. "Grow up. If you haven't gone around making other people's lives miserable or difficult, you haven't been sinning." Persi was younger than him, wasn't he? By a little bit? Not enough to excuse him. not one bit.
"He'd have to be the ultimate multitasker just to notice," Aiden snarked under his breath. "And are you sure He hasn't told any other priests? How many have you talked to about it?"

Persi glared at Aiden. It was a very small, tired, and depressed glare, but it was a glare. Or at least an irritated eye. "We already went over that. I annoy people all the time."
"As many as I could find." And had any reason to talk to, anyway. The church did invite plenty of people to preach. And every single one of them said the same thing, and most of them weren't too happy with Persi for asking. He'd gotten pretty good at asking without making anyone suspicious, especially by his standards. "And God is omniscient. I... don't know if it counts as multitasking, but He knows."

Well, if Persi kept on like this, Aiden was probably going to start agreeing out loud that Persi was an annoying brat. An annoying, stubborn brat. "Exactly. We've been over it." He rolled his eyes. Sheesh.
Somehow, Aiden doubted Persi had gone very far afield in his search. "Uh huh. So what, two?" The number didn't matter, and there might have been a tiny bit of sarcasm in his tone. Just a tiny bit. Not too much, of course; Aiden was not a particularly sarcastic person. "Knows and has the time to act are two different things."
