The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The forest grew quiet as Xiin swam up the river to his small shack in the Amazon near Manaus, Brazil. He slithered onto the coast and stood up slowly, turning his head back and forth to check the silent glades. He flicked his tongue, tasting the warm, sweet air of the night before heading inside to rest.
His sharp claws scraped against the handle of the door as he opened it with a calm hiss. A quaint smile formed on his lips, his tail closing the door behind him.
“Home. The foressst iss good to me. Even if the people in it aren’t.”
Xiin’s scales scraped against the small hallway into the next room. He then tossed himself onto a nest of reeds and grasses with a soft sigh. As he lay there, thoughts of the day gone by began to flood his mind. Anger. Hate. Fire. Xiin tossed back and forth in his nest for several hours before waking up to the faint sound of human breathing several yards off. The lizard moved silently from his bed to a small patch of soft grass in his floor. He quickly pulled back the grass and dove into a small watering hole that led into the main river. After swimming for several miles, he slowed to a stop and gently floated down the river on his back, his tail directing him like a small rudder. He spoke in an intense whisper as he looked up to the stars…
As the sun began to stretch across the horizon, Xiin floated up onto the coast, half asleep. His head scraped the soft, velvet soot on the banks of the river. He lay there for several minutes just absorbing the dawn’s healing rays into his deep emerald scales. The sound of the waves kissing the banks rang out in the calm morning.
Xiin turned and pushed himself up off the ground, his worn pants soaked and covered in soot. He yawns and lets out a horrid screech, sending several birds off into the morning sky. He grinned for a short moment as the birds flew up into the air before he flicked his tongue hastily. Something didn’t taste right… He whispered quietly, his body locked into position and ready to fight at any moment.
“The humansss followed me all night long… I’ll never be rid of them… I hate them…”
Every muscle tightened. Eyesight sharpened. The lizard flicked his tongue again and looked to the west before he spoke solemnly,
The agitated lizard stalked back through the forest, making no more noise than stifled breeze moving in and out of the jade canopy. His breaths were short and quick as he moved closer to the stench of the humans. His pace grew slower and slower until he walked up behind the group of 5 hunters. The men were carrying automatic rifles with a small tranquilizer pistol on their hips. Xiin focused his amber eyes on the small strike team, examining their movements and behavior for a few moments. He gradually slid behind one member of the team, preparing to pounce when he got close.
“Die…”
At that moment, Xiin jumped up onto the back of the man, slashing violently with his feet and hands. The man began to scream, but before his voice was fully audible, Xiin struck his jugular with a quick and powerful snap of his jaws, breaking the man’s neck instantly. He gnawed on the man’s neck briefly before looking up to see the group having moved on without their comrade. He flicked his tongue to lick the man’s face, pushing up off him after doing so. He continued to stalk the crew for several more hours, waiting for the perfect moment to strike again…
The sun began to set as Xiin grew weary of his hunt for blood. He had all but lost their scent due to the heavy rain from the afternoon. He paused for a moment and began to lap up some water from a puddle near an old tree. As his tongue danced across the top of the water, he heard something like the sound of an overgrown mosquito buzz toward him. He hissed angrily and jumped up, flashing both his blinding white teeth and razor sharp claws. However, he was too slow to react as a tranquilizer dart went into the side of his neck. He flinched as the needle pierced his scales, and he tried to jump up the nearby tree. When he did, his arms went numb and he hit the trunk of the tree with his snout, falling back to the wet earth.
He began to convulse violently on the ground, foam coming up to his reptilian lips. All sound and sight began to fade away as he lay there on the ground. The 4 remaining hunters approached out of the forest, having surrounded him while he drank. Silently and quickly, they put a nuzzle over his snout and chained up his arms and feet. They then picked him up and carried him on their strong shoulders, leading him out of the jungle.
A jeep awaited their arrival at the edge of the forest. The crew threw Xiin in a large cage in the back of the jeep. Xiin shook several more times and began to kick the edge of his cage with his powerful legs. The jeep started and drove quickly down the jungle trail, clearly not made for such a large vehicle. As the lizard continued to struggle, he started to feel the drug wear off. He started to shriek and kick more violently. A crew member then turned around and shot him in the neck point blank with two tranquilizers, leaving Xiin barely able to breathe.
At the end of jeep ride, Xiin and the crew had arrived at a small and rundown airport in the middle of the Amazon. They hastily threw Xiin in the cargo hold and chained the cage to the floor of the large plane. The engines started up and the plane began to take off. Only now did the leader of the crew speak his voice cold and hushed.
“This lizard better be worth it… Let’s just get him back to the lab and get our pay…”
