The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Daniel drunk what was left of his beer when she asked her question. He put the glass down and turned to her. Thinking what he could say. He couldn't be honest could he? She'd probably panic. Call the cops. He couldn't let that happen, he needed to lay low but she seemed trustworthy. Perhaps she'd understand, perhaps she wouldn't but there'd be only one way to find out.
After he thought over it for a while he started slowly. "The Police will be looking for me.." He didn't want to just blurt out what he'd done it was a lot to take in for him, no matter what someone else would think. "So I can't go back to my apartment because...I've killed people." He instantly regretted telling her the moment he said it. He began to stand up and he just said. "Yeah, I think it'd be best if I go. I'll find somewhere to sleep."
For some reason, him being on the run from the cops didn't phase her all that much. Yes, it made her cautious, but she really wasn't one to judge. All Charlotte could think to say was "Oh." She frowned as he stood up. She couldn't just let him walk out and deal with this by himself.
"You could, uh..I mean, I have a couch. And it's really fluffy. And I, well, no one sleeps on it. 'Cause you know I sleep in my bed. Although my cat likes the couch sometimes. But usually she sleeps with me. " she rambled, her face rapidly flushing. She took a deep breath and composed herself. "You can stay with me for a little while, if you want. The company would be nice. And I can't just let you wander the streets."
Daniel frowned slightly and shook his head. "No, no I couldn't. I don't want to bother you." Although it did sound like a nice idea. "Plus I hardly know you." He did want to accept it though and as he looked into her eyes it looked like she meant it and he looked down. "It's really not a good idea..." This was a bad idea, it was a really bad idea
He looked up and his frown slowly turned into a smile. Whether it was the alcohol and poor judgement or her kind offer he didn't know, it could of been all three but he eventually spoke up again. "Okay, I'll sleep on your couch. I guess some female company would be nice, last female company I had was my Mother. He laughed slightly as he exaggerated, she wasn't the last female company but the last was far too long ago.
Charlotte was determined to give Daniel a place to stay, so she was glad when he finally agreed. A smile spread across her face, and she took the last swig of her drink. "Awesome!" Alcohol made the blonde very enthusiastic. She reached over the bar top and grabbed her purse. She stood up, and had to close her eyes for a second to get stabilized. She had the spins from all the alcohol. Walking home was going to be fun.
"Shall we?" she asked, digging the bar keys out of her back pocket. She ushered him out of the door and fumbled to get her key in the hole. She really had the spins. She turned to face him and flashed a smile. She slipped her arm through his and began walking down the street.
"I'll tell you now, my place is a little messy." she warned sheepishly. She hadn't had guests over in awhile, and had gotten too lazy to actually clean. She was more of a 'shove things into a corner and make it look like an organized mess' kind of girl.
She stumbled over a small crack in the sidewalk, and was glad she had his arm for support. Hopefully he didn't think she was a drunken mess; she usually didn't get this bad. "Oopsie, didn't see that." she muttered.
Daniel continued to smile at her. She was happy and it seemed contagious or maybe it was the drink, either way it was good. He was ushered out quickly as she locked up and he watched her, unable to begin walking because he didn't actually know which direction it was. She linked with his arm and led him down the street. He watched his step and allowed her to lead him to her apartment which sounded a lot more exciting if you didn't know the context.
The lights seemed even brighter with alcohol in his system and he tried not to look directly at any lights, which was difficult in a city that never sleeps. She decided to tell him that her place is messy and sighed a little. "How could I tell? Don't worry, I'm sure I can help you clean up at some point. Assuming your this hospitable when you're sober." He continued to walk with her and then she stumbled, he tried to stabilize her and she managed to stay upright. He held her around her waist from where his hands went to help her and he smiled and linked his arm with hers again. "Alright, let's just get you to your apartment before you fall on your face."
"No no, I'm fine!" she assured him. Or at least she thought she was fine. She felt like she could take on the world, actually. She had the sudden urge to do a few cartwheels, but she stumbled again and quickly dismissed that idea. She slung her arm around his shoulder as his hands found her waist. She let out a small giggle and focused on walking in a straight line.
It seemed like only a few minutes before they arrived to her building. She slipped away from his grasp and leaned against the brick wall, slowly punching in a code on a small monitor. Numbers were hard, especially when there were doubles of everything. The keypad flashed green and she let out a triumphant laugh, pushing open the door. Charlotte grabbed Daniel's hand and led him up one flight of stairs to the second floor. She meandered down the hall and stopped outside a door branded with "2C". "This is mine!" she stated ecstatically, unlocking the door and nudging it open with her foot.
The apartment was nothing special. The door opened into a small hallway, which led to the living room in the back. A small door to their right lead to her room, which was attached to the only bathroom. The blonde pressed herself against the wall and let her equally drunk friend in, shutting the door quietly behind him. She turned on a small floor lamp, which produced a surprisingly large amount of light. She couldn't deal with much more light than that.
She began what seemed like a mile-long walk to the living room, when a small black creature began weaving its way through her legs.
"Shadow!" Charlotte bent over and picked up the small black ball of fuzz, who greeted her with a 'meow'. "Daniel, this is Shadow. Shadow, Daniel." She scratched the cat's head as she entered the living room, which had shopping bags and dresses sprawled everywhere. A large black couch filled up the left side of the room, opposite a flat-screen that hung on the wall. A small wooden table was positioned between the kitchen and living room. A large window on the far wall overlooked an alleyway, which could be accessed via the fire escape.
She threw a glance over her shoulder and shrugged. "It's not much, but it's cozy."
Daniel walked with her to her apartment, it didn't take long and he kept wanting to start up a conversation but it was hard. Wasn't alcohol supposed to make this easier? They got to the ground floor and Charlotte punched in the numbers quite successfully and Daniel tried to look at them and remember them but he got distracted by Charlotte's face. Before he knew it Charlotte had grabbed his hand and led him up the stairs, he was concentrating on not falling flat on his face and while he was doing that they were already up the stair. He looked at the door and he read it aloud. "2C..2C..2C" He repeated it quietly after his initial reading so he could remember it.
As he was let in and the door closed behind him, he looked around. It was nice well..It was nice before Charlotte blinded him with the lamp as he was trying to regain his eye-sight he was then introduced to a black ball of fur, named Shadow. It was the animal he was going to be sharing a living space with for a while. He followed Charlotte into the living room where he'd be staying, she spoke about how it wasn't much but he just smile and he even ignored the mess. It was nice. Comfortable. "It's nice. I'm so grateful that you're letting me stay here. I'm going to have to repay you...somehow. He winked slyly at her. In his head that was a perfectly legitimate line.
Charlotte plopped down on the couch, letting her head fall back. She closed her eyes and was scratching the top of Shadow's head. The spins had really hit her, and she just needed a few minutes of sitting in silence. "In through your nose, out through your mouth." she thought to herself, trying to control her breathing. She felt embarrassed. Typically when she brought a guy back, it wasn't when she was so drunk she could barely walk.
The blonde's eyes slowly fluttered open and everything seemed to stabilize. Her gaze moved over to Daniel, who was standing in the entrance to the living room. "You don't have to pay me back. And make yourself at home! You're staying here, get comfortable." she exclaimed, patting the cushion next to her on the couch. He was making her nervous just looming there.
Okay. So Daniel wasn't that most suave guy around, he could be a little awkward at times and staying in someone's apartment that night you met them was something he didn't do so it made sense to him that he'd be a little nervous. He watched her for a moment as she positioned herself on the couch and closed her eyes. He just stood. Looking creepy and looking awkward. She patted a cushion next to her and Daniel walked over and sat down next to her.
Resting his head back for a moment he turned to her and smiled. "Sorry. Just not something I do that often. So...You always get so drunk you can't stand? Because I don't wanna be carrying you home every night. Daniel began to laugh. He noticed. She hoped he didn't but he did.
Charlotte let out a laugh. He was funny. Or was it the alcohol? She couldn't tell. She had passed the spins and was just plain giddy. "No no, I usually don't get this bad." she mumbled. She picked up Shadow and held her in the air, making little kissing noises. "She shouldn't bother you too much, she usually sleeps with me." she added, placing the small cat in Daniel's lap. Her eyes shifted towards the kitchen, and she pushed herself up. There was lots of food in there, and she needed to get something else on her stomach.
The blonde pranced over to the refrigerator and pulled open the freezer. She perused her options. Pizza rolls, a bag of frozen vegetables, some sausage patties, and... She let out an audible gasp. Tucked behind the vegetables was a tub on chocolate chip cookie dough ice-cream. She retrieved the tub and closed the freezer. She turned to Daniel and held the tub above her head.
"Ice-cream!" she squeaked as she grabbed two spoons from the counter. She half walked, half skipped back to the couch and plopped back down, peeling back the top of the carton. She held out a spoon to him and then dug her own into the ice-cream.
"I love ice-cream." she whispered, spooning a large mound of the cold, creamy dessert into her mouth. It was just what she needed.
Daniel accepted her answer as truth, he doubted many people could get so bad they can't walk very often and be healthy. Before he knew it the subject was changed and he had a cat in his lap. A very cute cat he had to say it. The Doctor then began petting the cat as he watched Charlotte get up and head to what he assumed was the kitchen. He sat there, scratching the cat's head as he waited for Charlotte's return. When she did return however it was with something he didn't really expect. Ice Cream. Everyone loves Ice Cream. He was one of them. She squealed and joined him on the couch again, offering him a spoon. "Ice Cream? Really? Am I one of your girlfriends now? Are we going to go to the mall and look at dresses and shoes and hand-bags?
Daniel dug his spoon into the tub and lifted a freezing, tasty mound to his mouth. It was good. It was really really good. "Ofcourse if you ever need help getting changed into or out of a dress, I'd be happy to help." Yeah he could talk to talk but he couldn't walk the walk. Infact sometimes he couldn't even talk the talk. "It's about time I've had a night like this. Far too stressful lately." He began slipping into a slight accent, the Canadian accent that betrayed him and showed his true heritage.
She gave a very enthusiastic nod. "And we'll talk about boys and I can paint your nails and we'll do each others hair!" she squeaked, spooning in another mouthful of ice-cream so she didn't have to respond to his dress comment. Her face, however, said it all. It had switched to a lovely shade of light red.
"Sometimes it's nice to just relax and eat junk food." responded Charlotte. She considered herself a connoisseur of all things junk food. She had a secret drawer in her room filled with candy and chocolates and the like. It was her rainy day stash.
Her attention turned to what she detected was an accent, but she couldn't be sure. Maybe the alcohol was making her hear things. She decided to leave it alone and address it at a later time, when she was more coherent. She picked through the ice-cream until she found a large chunk of cookie dough. Jackpot.
"I'm surprised she's so calm." she mumbled around a mouthful of cookie dough, pointing towards the cat. "Usually she doesn't let people hold her."
A smirk stretched his lips as he watched her face go crimson red. He quite liked it. Daniel dunked his spoon into the Ice Cream tub again, he was a Doctor so he knew that too much of this stuff was bad but if it was so bad, why'd it taste so good? Surely having a few nights to relax and eat junk food couldn't be that bad. He sat with a cat in his lap and then Charlotte brought up the fact her cat didn't like people holding her usually. "That can't be true. She's lovely. He lifted the cat slightly and nuzzled her. "She's a cutie. Aren't you Shadow?
Daniel didn't intend to start talking to the cat but it just kinda happened. He turned to Charlotte and rested the cat back down on his lap and plunged his spoon into the ice-cream yet again. He was gonna eat it all if he wasn't careful. "Yeah, staying here will be just great. However I do request the talking about boys is kept to a minimum and in return I'm going to not lecture you on the medical dangers of everything you do. Deal? He didn't really know why he was offering it but then again it was slightly likely that he'd lecture her a few times whether she accepted or not.
Charlotte dug for another chunk of cookie dough and scooped it into her mouth. At this rate, she was just craving the cookie dough, and if given the chance she would eat it all. She scooped out a small bit of ice-cream with the tip of her finger and offered it to Shadow, watching as the small creature hopped from Daniel's lap to her, gladly lapping up the treat.
"Oh no, she can be a demon. If you don't give her enough attention, she'll scratch. A lot." she cautioned, placing a small kiss on top of the cat's head. She looked back up at Daniel and gave a slight nod.
"I don't talk about boys that much anyways, so no worries." She stuck her spoon in the ice-cream tub and left it there. She was cutting herself off. Her gaze wandered over to the clock on the wall. 1:27. Where had the time gone? "I think it might almost be time to turn in."
Daniel's eyes followed Charlotte's to the clock and he had to look twice just to make sure. He couldn't think that it was that late already but then again, what time did he get to the bar? It was already pretty late then. He listened to her think about going to bed and he nodded to her. "Yeah, I think that might be a good idea. We'll wake up tomorrow and start our first day as roommates..Oh I can tell this is going to be interesting. He laughed out loud but the laugh quickly turned into a yawn. He didn't know how tired he was until Charlotte pointed it out.
He was already where he was sleeping so he didn't really have anywhere to go but he felt like maybe he should say goodnight to her somehow. He got slightly closer and said. "I guess, I'll see you tomorrow morning." Should he give her a hug? A kiss? He couldn't quite tell where they were at.
