The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He sighed and let himself flop down onto his pillow, talking about the past had brought up a mixture of different emotions and feelings that he thought had left him. A mixture of pain anger and sorrow welled up inside making him feel oddly calm, as though the emotions balanced out the existing pains he had.
"Well I didn't think to look at it like that, but either way that was then this is now. And I do have a much better grasp on my powers." It was true that he was in a way desensitized by the ordeals but in a way they also shaped who he was, given the chance he knew he wouldn't have changed what happened. "Anyway what do you mean being made of metal sucks, metal rocks, like you could get stabbed and have the knife break while I would get well....stabbed." He said with a little laugh.
He couldn't seem to grasp why being made of metal would be a problem, it seemed like a pretty good trade off to him, like you get a bit heavier sure but at the same time you would get to be a super metal man breaking things and blocking weapons with your bare hands. He wondered if James just didn't like his mutation after the unfortunate problems it caused.

James smiled despite himself to Leons comment. Yeah, that WAS cool. No doubt about it, but the problem was that James knew his place. He was just a regular teenager, not a superhero. Maybe if he ever got the chance he would take it, but what were the chances? If James said he hated his power it would be a lie. Hell he thought it was awesome, but other people didn't...especially his Mother.
The whole problem for James was that he hated standing out, being made of steel did that. So did being a mutant, it wasn't just that either. The whole process of getting used to his new identity, he wasn't technically a human...he was something else. Although he knew he MUST be human, biologically...mostly.
All of that plus the obvious. James feared the whole "I'm almighty and powerful" thing that could possibly come with an inhuman power. He knew that he had been brought up to see all people evenly and on level ground but at the same time he couldn't help but look down on others with stupid prejudiced views.
"Its not that" James said slowly, thinking about what he said before releasing it. "The power is great, everything you said is true. But I'm a normal teenager. Where would I use the power? I know that I feel like I have it for a reason but I guess that I don't know what it is. Yet."

Jame's question struck Leon as being very philosophical, tackling issues like purposes and why we where given powers, things that he tried not really to talk about as he mainly used his for laughs. "Well I don't pretend to know why we have these powers, but I must say that I find mine fun, like i don't even have to move to get food off the BBQ. Its like the whole BBQ just floats over on its ashes. It brings a whole new meaning to fast food." It was one of the more trivial uses for his power but never the less one he found brilliant.
"As for when you should use it, I say use it whenever you feel like it. Its what I do and if people reject me like they did then, well, its their choice not mine so.....yeah." He said trailing into an awkward silence as he tried to find the words to finish his sentence, he couldn't seem to find the words to help him as both of there powers where so...different. Like sure its all well and good saying that he could eat burnt food with his mind, but how could that help someone who turns into a metal man.
He rested his head on his pillow and stared at the ceiling, the day had been a long one and had taken more energy out of him than he had originally thought, but even without being tired the questions would have been taxing so now they where making more of a mess in his mind than he thought possible. It seemed to him like asking a mouse about how cheese is made, the mouse wont know the mouse will just eat the cheese. He applied the same logic to his power, don't ask how or why, just have fun with it.

James went from feeling all philosophical and intelligent to "I'm about to burst if I don't laugh". He didn't know why but the mental image of Leon floating a sausage straight from the BBQ into his mouth on a plate of ash was the best thing he had imagined for a while. Luckily Leon wasn't looking at him so he couldn't see James' silent laughter as he grabbed his sides, trying not to interrupt the other teenager with a torrent of rude-yet-appropriate laughter.
When Leon had finished James had a serious case of the giggles which burst forth as soon as the other teenager had finished speaking. "Oh god...You floating a sausage into your...PAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Unfortunately he couldn't stop laughing, nor could he speak.Whenever he attempted to apologize he had to breathe while slapping his thighs hysterically. After a couple of minutes of uncontrollable mirth James brought himself under control. Lying on the bed looking up at the ceiling he said through a fit of short laughs, "I'm sorry but...the mental image of you floating sausages around was just...Golden"
James hoped he hadn't upset Leon, after all he was the one who said that using his mutation was for fun.
