The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She smiled as he spoke. It was sort of true in several aspects, mutants certainly seemed more prominent here. And the tensions surrounding Mutant human relations also seemed much bigger.
Until Serena had found out she was a mutant herself, the struggle for recognition of mutants seemed like some far away, news story. And now, it was all so real, it was a bit of a shock to her system to be thrust into such a lively and dangerous world, alone with no family left to speak of.
Serena was drawn back to the time when she first moved to New York, She must've been 11 or 12, it was so long ago, but she remembered the city being completely overwhelming, and then she also remembered her father having little to no time for her from the second they arrived in New York.
As a massive contrast, even though her older brother seemed to work far more hours than her dad had done, he had always managed to make the time needed to see her and interact with her, She had really loved him and did miss him a lot.
She quickly pulled her thoughts back together and responded to Leon. " I remember finding it a little overwhelming at first, but I've lived here a good few years now, so I guess I'm used to it."
"So, have you found anything fun to do in the city yet?" she asked.

Well that depended allot on what her definition of fun was, and he was sure that it would not be the same as his. "Um well I'm not really sure like I normally just wander." He said after a moments thought, he had opted against going and telling her what he thought was fun, as he thought that would make her leave and slightly disgusted at him.
"So anyway what about you? What do you do when you want to have fun in the city?" He asked after another sip of his tea, he could feel the caffeine in the tea doing its job and waking him up slightly, he was now at the point where he could comfortably sit up and stay up.
He propped himself up in the chair and sat slightly more straight having felt like he could, being careful not to spill his tea in the process as he was not fond of hot tea on his legs.
Serena wondered what Leon meant, one minute he was talking about how he found New York to be entertaining and how he preferred to be out in the city than stuck at the mansion, the next he was saying he just wandered.
That sounded suspiciously like Tses...
No, he couldn't be Leon was far too polite and friendly to be a criminal like Tses, he also sounded like he had gotten a much more educated upbringing. After all, she sounded like she had practically lived on the streets, whereas Leon came from Eton, which to her knowledge was upper class.
She gave a shrug and a smile. "In all honesty, I haven't had that much fun since I've been here, I don't even know some of the fun area's of the city, really only the malls and central park."
Sadly, she hadn't had much time for leisure until recently.

"Yeah, like I haven't gone to the mall or anything but some of the places I've found are kinda fun. Things like old buildings and some of the nicer parts of the city." He hoped that this little bit more information would throw her off of the topic, but he could never be sure and it always ran the risk of sparking more interest.
He could really feel the tea waking him up now, making him more aware and happy, taking some of the edge off of the sleepy feelings. Although the chair was still pretty comfortable and he was a while off getting up and leaving it. That and he was sort of enjoying the conversation that as going on, even if some of the topics where a bit touch and go.
"So if you don't have fun what do you spend all of your time doing?" He asked curiously.
Serena smile and nodded to James. With a city as big as new york, you were bound to get some lovely old buildings, She personally was quite a fan of the parks and the green areas. Like the hedge maze. She thought that was cool.
Serena couldn't quite remember what happened the last time she had been in a hedge maze... Oh well, it had been a while ago, she was sure she must have enjoyed it.
It was clear that Leon had become more aware and awake since consuming some tea. It was a good sign, he even looked a little happier. Serena really was glad to have company on one of these nights where she just could not sleep, he was also rather good conversation.
She smiled slightly awkwardly. "I read... A lot... And Well, after missing several months of school I spent 90% of my time studying so I didn't fail this years exams. I do sometimes go for a dip in the mansions pool, which is huge, by the way." She giggled.
The weather was definitely one of the pros of living in America, you got much warmer summers, with consistent weather, and at the mansion, you could take advantage of such weather by going out to go swimming.

"Well if the weathers good enough to swim you may as well." He said warmly, it was a fairly obvious statement to say but one that he felt should be said, for some reason. The weather was definitely a pro of living in america and one that he was happy for most of the time, even if it was annoying every once in a while like when he was trying to sleep.
"I haven't really been around the mansion allot, Like I've been to the rooms and some of the insides but not out and about in the grounds." He said after a moments thought, it even surprised him that he hadn't been around and seen some of the places the mansion had to offer, but he wasn't to fussed as he was having enough fun in the city.
"To be honest I'm not fussed about it, I can find the fun I look for in the city and it helps to get out and about." He said with a smile, thinking it would be easier to just flat out say that he isn't that fussed about the place.
Serena nodded to Leon's comment, Smiling as she did so. "It is certainly one of the things I really appreciate about new york, the weather is a lot more... Consistent than it was in London, I mean we've hardly had a rainy day all summer."
Serena giggled with a smile.
Leon's next comment caused her face to light up as her mind spun a really fun idea. Leon hadn't seen much of the mansion grounds, and he seemed like he was also up quite late, she thought.
She had been at the mansion for much longer, she knew all of the lovely areas around the mansion's main grounds, including some of the area's which are really fun to sit in. In fact there was one in particular in which she read in the moonlight at.
She smiled to Leon "Say, are you up this late often?" she asked with a warm tone.

"Yeah I'm normally around and about till the early hours of the morning, some days I stay in to try and sleep but it always fails." He said with a little smile, as if he could get back to sleep he would be back in his bed and not out here drinking tea and chatting. Not that he disliked Serena's company its just more that he really needed sleep.
"So what about you, are you normally roaming around this late?" It was a simple enough question and one that didn't require allot of thought, which he was thankful for as he could start to feel the lack of sleep mess with his head. Heavy eyelids and other small annoyances. As annoying as they where he was not going to let them get on his nerves, he was far to tired for that.
Serena smiled as he replied. She wondered why he didn't sleep. Her reasoning was rather obvious. She had acute insomnia caused by the desire to not experience a terrifying reoccurring nightmare.
Serena shifted mildly uncomfortably. "I tend to not sleep well, bad dreams. So I procrastinate sleep, and now it's pretty much a broken sleeping pattern, I think anyway."
She had responded in a mildly nervous tone, she didn't want to think about, or get into the details of the nightmares that had been plaguing her for this long. She just wanted to forget about them for as long as she could and move on.
Although, it was getting pretty late and she could definitely feel the fatigue catching up with her. "I think I am going to have to head to bed. Even if I don't want to sleep, I don't want to be a zombie tomorrow. We should do something fun next time we're both up though, as so we don't waste our sleepless ours" She winked.

The fact that she had bad dreams surprised him, she seemed so calm and happy all of the time so he assumed that she would have happy dreams. But apparently he was mistaken about that.
After she had finished speaking he seemed to realize that maybe he should get some sleep as well, as he could feel his body telling him to sleep with little signals here and there, which until now he had been ignoring but maybe it was time to give into the urges to lay down and sleep. "Yeah I think I'm going to have to head off to sleep too, and I think meeting up would be great it would take some of the boredom out of the nights." He said with a smile, standing up and stretching his arms and legs he winced at how stiff they had become.
"Well see ya around then." He said before departing off back to his room.
