The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

In truth he didn't really have any questions about the mansion, he had been told a small amount in his send off letter but past that he didn't really want to know. The comment about there future and what they wanted to do at the mansion was a bit puzzling, after all it was a school but if he got a choice about what he could do he might just take some time to soak in all that has happened.
"Well personally I don't have many if any questions to ask so I'm going to jump the gun. As you know I'm Leon and I can inhale and store ash. As well as exhaling it out again and controlling it with my mind, I also have a tendency to get small amounts of fire shift over my body..." He said letting the last part trail of like it was something he wasn't proud off, or a embarrassing story. After all that part of his mutation he has had some fun with but more often than not it has gotten him into trouble. It wasn't as much that he disliked or resented that particular aspect of his mutation as he has found it useful to fuel his primary part, he was just unsure about it because he couldn't control it like he could ash. The flames where always there. Always.
Once he had finished explaining his mutation he looked over to James, wondering what his reaction would be to it all as he wasn't sure that he knew about it. At least he didn't think he had used his mutation in front of James so he didn't think he could know. Unless he has telepathy in which case that's cheating and rude.

James listened to Leon explain his mutation. He tried his best not to,but as Leon went on about being able to control ash with his mind and have his body set on fire a childish grin begun to spread across his face. He was still getting used to the fact that the world was full of people with incredible powers like this and even though he had one himself he still found listening about others incredibly cool.
Trying his best to be serious and hide his smile James scratched his chin as he considered how to explain his own. The truth was James didn't know much about it himself, even though he had known about it for about five months and had been practicing it. "Well, I'm James and as far as I can tell, I can turn my skin into Iron and Steel. As long as I'm in contact with some anyway...the truth is I don't really know all that much about it. I guess you should also know that I can't really choose when it happens. If I'm scared it turns on by itself" He pulled back his sleeve to show the watch on his wrist. "I take this off if I think it might turn on by itself. I can usually tell just before it happens"
As for questions James didn't have any. The truth was he just wanted closure and to settle into some kind of normal life again as quick as possible. Shrugging he said "I don't have an questions really".

Boys, especially of the teenage and young adult persuasion, were usually too cool for questions, Gemma knew that from her history of being a teacher. Still, at least they were talking to her, and not trying to hijack her car with a windshield brush. Oh the good old days.
Leon could control ash. She did not need to comment on the smoking policy, she was pretty sure he was aware of the most obvious aspects of his mutation. James, the more shy of the two, gave a more detailed description about his metal-based abilities.
"That's helpful, thank you" she smiled at both. "You both have fascinating powers. Leon, I should tell you up front that the Mansion has smoke alarms all over, since we have more than one student with fire-based mutations. If you talk to someone on faculty, they can give you access to the Danger Room to practice your abilities, it's the safest place to do it. It's on the curriculum anyway."
As long as they were supervised...
"James, we also have a few people here with metal-based powers, some of them are on the X-team. They can help you learn some control if you want. Apart from that... well, it's a school. You take classes, you do activities, the whole deal."
She considered the guys for a few moments.
"So, are you two also moving in full time, or are you planning on just visiting for the classes?"

He nodded at the explanation of the basic function of the building, the concept of this danger room confused him, in his mind the immediate thought was a bunker or fall out shelter. And that would make sense as they are secure and well built, but strong enough for mutants to practice mutations? he wasn't so sure.
"Well the thing is I have no where to live having just arrived in America today so yeah...." He said then started to trail off to mumbling his mind failed to produce words to describe his situation, he knew perfectly what his situation was and how he got into it but he seamed unable to describe it, in his mind he knew it more a set of emotions rummaging around rather than words and sounds.
He hadn't entirely thought about what was going to happen when he got here, he had no plan of what classes to take if any and no clue as to what he would spend his free time doing. The danger room did sound interesting so he made a mental note to visit that place when possible but past that his mind was drawing blanks on what to do with his life.

James was relieved to hear that there was somewhere he could practice his ability. That was one of the main reasons he had been looking forwards to coming here. His lack of control was starting to seriously get on his nerves, plus it was kind of embarrassing when his arm turned into metal if something made him so much as jump.
As for why James was here, he needed a place to stay and go to school. At least until he could try to straighten things out with his Mother and prove to her that him being a mutant wasn't a bad thing. "I don't have anywhere to stay at the moment, so its full time for me too. I was supposed to come tomorrow but plans changed" He wasn't about to admit that his Mother had kicked him out unless Gemma asked why he had nowhere to stay, even though he had his mother who was perfectly able to take care of him, but didn't want someone like him in her house. James wasn't happy about staying away, however he would do it if she needed him to, which she apparently did.

Both of them wanted to move in, and apparently that had been their point all along. Gemma nodded.
"All right, if you are both moving in, there will be some paperwork and you'll have a room assigned to you in the boy's wing. You can share it if you want, but currently we also have enough free rooms for everyone."
She stood, pushing her chair back.
"But before that, I'll give you the tour of the place so you can get an idea of what you are signing up for." she smiled at both of them "So, shall we?"

Well this was moving on faster than he had thought it would, he already had an idea that they would have to fill in some paper work and then that's that. But the tour was apparently first and that was alright as it would make him understand his new home better.
"I'm OK with sharing a room, its really up to James as to whether we share or not." He said warmly, James didn't seem to bad if a bit shy but he was sure that given time he would open up. Sharing a room would be more normal for him and make it feel more homely and nice.
"Yeah sure I'm fine with the tour, just lead the way." He said warmly with a smile.

The idea of sharing a room with Leon sounded good, but the whole smoking thing might be a tad annoying. Either way it was a chance to make a friend here. "Sharing sounds fine." James replied with a somewhat awkward smile. Leon and Serena had been really friendly with him on the way here and he was still getting used to it.
As for the tour James was itching to have a look around the place. It was huge and his sense of direction was kind of poor. He couldn't hope to go exploring by himself and not get lost, a tour would help with that. "A tour sounds great" James said after nodding along to Leons last comment in agreement.

The boys seemed willing to share a room. Gemma smiled and made a note. It was good to see that they at least had one person the the school already that they knew and trusted. It was a good start.
"Off we go then" she nodded, standing up from behind her desk and leading them out of the office.
"This is the hallway where all the offices are found" she started as they walked down the hallway, back to the front lobby "You can almost always find someone here. Either me, or one of the Mansion's other staff members. Sam, Shin, Gawain or Maya should be around most of the time, you'll get to know them soon enough."
She walked on at a slow pace, letting the boys look around.
"This is the front lobby. That was is the girls' wing of the dorms, that was is the boys', you'll see that later. This hallways leads to the classrooms. This here..."
She opened a door
"... is the living room. You can watch TV any time you want, but no parties unless we approve first. And here we go on to the kitchen and dining area. It's stocked with food all the time, everything is free game unless it has a name on it that's not yours. We cook quite often. If you have any special needs in terms of food, you can let me know."

As they walked around the place he attempted to take in all of the information that was being thrown in there direction, he got the general idea of each place and its function but allot of those where obvious and needed little explanation. Just like a place with a T.V and a couch didn't need a label slapped on it, people would assume it would be the lounge. But he was grateful for the information non the less.
The rules so far seemed reasonable and fair enough, with little in restraints or other things that could hold him back. "Nah I'm not a vegetarian so its cool." He said when she explained about the kitchen.
"This place is pretty nice actually and not to different from where I just came from." He said as they went through the rooms, it did remind him of where he just came from and maybe that wasn't a bad thing, as it gave him something with a familiar feel.

Being told and shown around a new place that he would be living in was a new experience for James. He had never lived in a place like this before and was looking forward to it. He followed Leon and Gemma quietly, nodding to everything they were told.
James thought the place was cool, even though the whole notion of living in a shared space with a bunch of other people was completely alien to him. As for the dining area, he couldn't suppress the grin which spread across his face. Being sixteen he was at the age when he could eat ridiculous amounts of food without stopping, something which he had been taking advantage of quite a bit and free food was one of the most glorious things he could imagine. "No, I'm not allergic to anything or a vegetarian" James added after Leon.
The rooms looked fine, bigger than his one at home. Sharing one with Leon would probably cut out the whole home-sickness thing. When Leon said that it was similar to where he had come from James replied by saying "Lucky, this is the first time I have lived in a place like this"

The boys both agreed that they had no special needs, and Gemma noted that with a smile and a nod. Other things might come up later, but for now, they were not being difficult guests.
"The Mansion is quite unique in a lot of ways" she smiled with a hint of pride; she had come to love her new home. She waved to the boys to follow her as the walked down the hallway.
"We have an infirmary, in case you need any medical attention. DocProf, our resident healer, is... quite the interesting man. Sometimes he is not very nice, but you can trust him with your life. Even I do, and his powers don't even work on me."
She still remembered the awful events of the past Halloween when everyone got away healed in the end, except for Gemma, who had to wait for her broken bones to heal naturally.
"In the basement we have the Danger Room, students are not allowed in there without an instructor's supervision. It is for training, especially with one's powers. For sports, there are the Mansion grounds outside, and we also have a pool."
