The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Congratulations are not quite in order yet," Mariusz replied moving to the edge of the bridge tower and seating himself next to Maya. "I still have to take my citizenship test and then register as an independent candidate," he continued, shrugging his shoulders. "But, once I get done with those two chores I will, officially, be on the ballot and it will be time to begin my campaign."
"As for the reasoning behind running, it is a number of factors really," the avian mutant continued, shrugging his shoulders again. "It seems obvious based on the ViewTube video and the recent riots that mutant rights are not something that is a high priority for the local government, therefore someone needs to bring issues important to mutants into the limelight. In truth, it does not matter if I win or lose. The more important thing is getting the message and the platform out there. Who better to do that than the son of a career politician, admittedly a foreign politician but still... besides that, judging by the riots with the whole mutant vote behind my candidacy and a few humans too it would be possible to win. I checked the math."
Citizenship test. "I happen to know a thing or two about naturalization, if that's what you're going for. If you run into any snags, lemmmie know. It's actually not that bad." She refused to dwell on why she knew these things because moping was really getting old. It was time to move on. Move up.
Maya pulled the goggles off her head and fiddled with them while Mariusz explained himself.
"I can respect that." Maya swung her legs and let her heels fall freely until they hit the concrete just below what they were sitting on. "I just hope you're not jumping the gun and trying to get it all going too fast. If you could afford to take your time, I bet you would have an actual fighting chance rather than just going out in a political topic of the week kind of glory." She shrugged. "But, that's just my opinion. What do I know about politics?" Other than the fact that they could betray you? Not a thing, really.
And since she didn't want to get into a deep political debate, she decided to head off that line of thinking by starting an entirely new one. "What's your favorite color?"
"Yes, naturalization," Mariusz said, swinging his legs slowly out into space as he sat on the edge of the bridge support."As for taking my time, well I cannot afford to wait too long. If I wait too long the window to register to run in the election will close. Rest assured though, I do know how the game is played and I have thought through a position on several issues of importance."
Obviously running for any kind of political office required forethought on the part of the person that was running and while Mariusz hadn't developed a full platform to run on he was, nonetheless, confident he could give a good showing when he announced his candidacy. After all, his personal background in politics would be a major help in running for office. He was caught a little bit off guard when Maya asked about his favorite color and had to think about it for a moment.
"Red, I suppose. I had never really thought about it much," he replied, shrugging his shoulders. "And you?"
"My favorite color is yellow. Really bright and warm. None of that sickly yellow. Something more like sunlight." Maya continued to swing her legs and bang them against the pillar beneath them as she thought.
Red was a color of passion, but more than that it had become something brave yet hungry thanks to advertising and other associations. Rather fitting for a politician. "I read an article that your favorite color says a lot about you. Probably false, but fun to think about. Oh. Don't worry, though. The only bad one was orange. Apparently more serial killers and repeat offenders claim orange as their favorite color." A lot of hooey, right? They probably just said that because of the jump suits.
"Arbitrary and based on opinion. I mean, how do people even pick favorites anyway?"
Mariusz shrugged his feathered shoulders in response to Maya's conversation and question about picking a favorite color. In truth he had no real idea how people chose what color they would claim as their favorite. Mostly, he assumed people chose at random if they liked a way a given color looked or, maybe if it was part of the color scheme for a favorite sports team or invoked a strong memory.
"I would imagine that people pick a favorite color based on what they associate that color with, such as a good memory," the Czaech man said, shrugging his shoulders again. While there were certain philosophical questions and topics he could discuss at great length those topics tended to be confined to the theological realm. As such, these types of conversations weren't really what he was best at, in the grand scheme of things. Since he wasn't really sure what direction to steer the conversation in the winged man chose to remain silent for the time being.

Sen
Sigh. Mariusz seemed easier to talk to last time they had met. Was she doing something wrong? Maybe she should just enjoy the view and the flight and leave things alone.
Bird man shrugged and they both continued kicking their heels like little kids.
"I wonder if anybody can even see us up here." Honestly, who even looked up these days besides the tourists? The silence that settled was a comfortable one, more contemplative for Maya at least than awkward.
"Mariusz, tell me something about where you're from." Below them, a small fender bender started to clog traffic on the bridge. They probably couldn't stay here the whole day, but for now it was nice.
"I am from Harrachav in the Czech Republic," the feathered man replied, warming to this topic of conversation a bit more since it was something that was much easier to discuss than the psychology behind why someone chose a particular favorite color. "And that is actually a bit of a misnomer since we did not live in the town in the strictest sense though it was the closest town to where I grew up."
"It is up in the Krkonose Mountains and is very close to the borders with Poland and Germany. Really, it is a bit of a resort town and tourist trap so there are always new and interesting people floating through on vacation or business. And, being up in the mountains makes for some ideal flying and hunting conditions. There are all kinds of neat things up there. What about you? Where did you grow up?"
