The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Alright." Persi wasn't very convinced; for one thing, Aiden didn't sound entirely alright. Apart from freaking out over something, though, nothing was obviously wrong, so Persi didn't really have a basis to argue over it.
Instead, he retrieved his shirt, made sure it was right side out, and pulled it back on. That... wasn't very comfortable. It took a minute of adjusting and tugging on the shirt before realizing the problem wasn't the shirt; it was pine needles that had gotten inside it. Persi pulled it back off, turned it inside out, and discovered that there was, along with a few needles, a large supply of sap.
...Well, that explained why he hadn't noticed the discomfort as being poked by needles. Also, he wasn't going to be wearing that again until it was clean. And there was probably sap on him too; apparently Persi was going to be showering sooner than planned. Oh well; he could see how much of the marker washed off.
In the meantime, Persi shrugged, folded the shirt to carry it, and tried to pretend he didn't feel awkward with it off. It wasn't like the marker on his chest was any weirder than what was on his face, anyway, so there was no reason to.
And... Aiden was still being awkward. Maybe a distraction would work. "What were you drawing?" Not the best topic, but... well, going by Aiden's earlier reaction, it should be distracting.

There. Persi had accepted his response. All was well. Persi was going to put his shirt back on, and all would be just peachy. Was he done yet? Please let him be done. Aiden risked a peek.
Nope. Wait. Aiden managed to look for a little bit longer, still sidelong, and looked only at the shirt in Persi's hands. Mostly at the shirt, anyway. It... was inside out? Why was it inside out? Whatever the reason, Persi seemed not to be planning on putting it back on.
The sooner he was away from here, the better, Aiden decided abruptly, and swiftly finished getting everything into his bag. It took a few more moments to get the bag itself closed to some degree of satisfaction, and focusing on fighting with it gave him some cover when Persi went and reminded him that he'd been caught drawing.
Shifting his weight awkwardly as he stood and slung the bag onto one shoulder, looking as far away from Persi as he possibly could without looking like a total rude jerk of an idiot, Aiden tried to find some way to keep from having to answer. His brain didn't want to work properly, though. It didn't give him anything, and Persi was waiting for an answer. So, looking away more in shyness than in general inability to look at Persi's partial nudity, he finally spoke. "Nothing, really," he said awkwardly. "Just.. this." He gestured at the trees and whatnot around them, though his hand was rather limp and he didn't even look where he was gesturing. Enough with the talking, please! Couldn't they just get out of here without anything else going wrong?

Aiden... was not very good at this whole conversation thing. Neither was Persi, but really, that just made it even more ridiculous that Aiden was this bad. Commenting on it probably wouldn't help, though. It would just annoy Persi, anyway, when people did that to him.
So... conversation. About something. Persi thought while they left the forest. There had to be something to say that Aiden would actually give more than a two word answer to.
...Home... was not a good topic. Persi had no idea if it would be one for Aiden or not, but it certainly wasn't something he wanted to talk about, so he wasn't bringing it up.
"...Didn't you have classes?" That he'd been getting kind of close to being late for a while ago?

Awkward walk was awkward. Persi seemed to be more uncomfortable with the silence than Aiden was. Aiden was definitely more uncomfortable with Persi being topless than Persi was. At least it wasn't bad enough that Aiden couldn't walk properly, since he wasn't actually looking close enough towards Persi to see him being topless. He just knew he was right there, being topless.
Wait, classes? Aiden stopped dead in his tracks.
Oh.
Right.
Class.
He swallowed hard. "What time is it?" he managed to say. Maybe he wasn't actually late yet? Maybe he still had a chance? Except his gut and common sense said otherwise. He'd spent too much time talking to Persi. He was definitely late. If he was late... well, he wasn't going to walk into a class late. No way in hell, frozen or aflame. So. Either he still had time to get to class or he was finding some dark hole to crawl into and die in.

Well that was not the reaction Persi had been aiming for. It was probably the reaction he should have expected, so that was his own fault, but still. Note to self, don't do that again. "I don't know, I don't have a watch." Which he was pretty sure he'd already said, but seemed to be necessary to repeat anyway.
Persi eyed the sun. He remembered there being some way to estimate time based on the sun, horizon and fingers, but he didn't remember it. "Guessing... maybe around twelve forty? It was about noon when I left, anyway." That was the best he could do. If it was totally off... well, that would suck, but Persi couldn't fix it. Maybe he should get a watch....
...Somehow. On second thought, there were other things he needed to get first. Starting with money, and therefore a job.

Oh. Right. Yeah. Neither of them had actual timekeeping devices on hand. That made things very difficult. Although, if Persi's time estimation was anywhere at all near accurate...
Aiden was already seriously late.
If had had been walking still, he would have stopped now for sure. Now what was he supposed to do? He couldn't go to class late. He just couldn't. But skipping..? No, no, he couldn't that either. The hand wrapped around the battered strap of his backpack tightened on the old fabric. What.... what was he going to do?
He turned towards Persi, his desperation overriding the whole shirtless thing for the current moment. "What am I supposed to do now?" he asked, hopelessly lost. Persi was the delinquent annoying kid. Surely he had some idea of what came next?

...And the awkward, potentially scary roommate had just turned into a lost little kid. Persi... had no idea how he'd done that. It was kind of confusing, and possibly a bit disturbing, once Aiden stopped looking at him like a scared puppy. Persi kind of hoped that was soon, he had no idea what to do.
"Um... well, if you don't want to be caught... either hide somewhere the teachers don't go, or go back to... your room, and sleep. It's easier to pretend you're sick that way." Persi did that to get out of church, technically, not school, but church was... had been much stricter about that than school, and he doubted this one would be that strict either. "Or, if you want to not actually be sick, go eat, and if someone asks tell them you forgot the time, and decided being healthy was more important than half of a class." Which may or may not work, depending on the teacher, but could probably be argued to someone involved. Schools were supposed to prioritize kids' health, and a boarding school would probably be supposed to do that even more than most.

Oh good, Persi had ideas. Aiden already felt better.
Hide somewhere teachers don't go? Where would that be? Aiden didn't have a clue. Sleeping he could... pretend to do, he supposed. Rest would be helpful anyway, after all this stress. He needed to unwind, and most of his normal outlets weren't exactly accessible, given the circumstances.
He definitely couldn't eat right now. He had a feeling his stomach would go on strike or mutiny or something if he tried. Even water was probably off-limits. So... "I guess it'll have to be faking sick," he said weakly. "I can't see anything else coming close to working." So... that left getting back to their room without being noticed. Persi was rather noticeable at the moment. Aiden swallowed and had to look away again. "Any ideas on how to get there unseen?" he asked hopefully. Persi'd had some ideas already. Surely he had more?

Personally, Persi would have picked eating under the circumstances, but sleeping was good too. Maybe Persi would eat after showering.
For now... apparently Persi had become a teacher in the art of accidentally skipping class. He had to wonder if most teachers were this clueless about what they taught. It would explain a lot. "Walk quickly? If you're late for class, then all the teachers will be in class, not out looking, and any kids not in class will be skipping too, so they won't say anything." He shrugged. "If someone does see you, you can tell him it's my fault, since I don't have classes yet I wasn't paying attention."

Aiden listened intently to Persi's suggestions. Well, it didn't seem very elaborate or anything, but it would probably work. Okay. He could do this!
Probably. As they continued walking back Aiden found his initial resolve slipping. All it would take for the whole thing to fall apart would be for a teacher to be in the halls for any reason, or for someone to ask and not believe that Persi had just lost track of time. What if they recognized him as being a skipper and delinquent and everything and just sent them off to get punished? Aiden would be forever marked as a rulebreaker! That would be bad.
He started to shift nervously as the mansion came into sight through the trees ahead of them. All right. Persi was probably right. Their best bet was to just get through the public, inhabited parts of the mansion as quickly as they could without drawing attention to themselves. He just wasn't sure if he could actually do that. He shot an unfocused glance in Persi's direction. "Are you sure it'll work?" he asked nervously. And hopefully stalling a little bit here would convince Persi to take the lead and so be able to fend off anyone they did come across.

Persi sighed. "No. I'm also not sure that a comet trailing rainbows won't appear out of the sky and land in front of us, revealing a unicorn. I'm pretty sure that it isn't likely. Seeing as I can't see the future, that's as good as it's going to get." It also was almost certainly not the answer Aiden was looking for, unless he had really weird standards for honesty and even weirder ways of testing for it. Persi was pretty sure that was unlikely, too. And Aiden's apparent paranoia of being a less than perfect student was becoming frustrating.
They reached the doors, though, so Aiden wouldn't have too much longer to worry. Persi pulled the door open, and held as he went through it for Aiden to get next. Persi saw no one so far.

That wasn't funny. Aiden was being very serious, thank you very much. Rainbow comets and unicorns were not appropriate to the situation, the mood, or the conversation.
Knowing that Persi thought things would work out was reassuring, though, however stupidly he went about saying so, so Aiden followed Persi inside a little more confidently. Well, the hallway was empty. That was good. He took a calming breath and set off along the hall. It really wasn't very far from here to their room. They could make it without a problem.
Aiden was only mildly surprised when they reached their room without coming across a single other person. And internally extremely relieved. And slightly joyous. Okay, disproportionately joyous to the reality of the situation. He flashed a brief almost-smile to Persi in thanks, not realizing that it was by far the closest he'd come to smiling since he had met the guy, and moved briskly across the room to flop onto his bed. Right, now to play sick. He should sleep. Sick people slept a lot, after all.
