The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Elena looked around critically at Sanctuary as she and Abyss arrived. It wasn't quite what she expected, but then she really wasn't sure what she had expected. Maybe more...chaos or something. Then again, it was probably easier to stay under the radar, so to speak, when things were generally calm.
"So...um....there are other mutants here?" Elena asked, the uncertainty she was feeling evident in her voice. The prospect of meeting others like her made her both nervous and exited in roughly equal degrees. She had, of course, heard the stories about how dangerous mutants could be, but at the same time...She had never gotten a chance to know her mother as a mutant, so this was really going to be the first time she was to have to opportunity to see and speak to other mutants. Maybe she might even be able to find a group of people that would make her feel like she actually belonged, though that was probably wishful thinking on her part. Still, it never hurt to hope.
"And, uh, ya, I guess I would like a room or something, if there's one available. I don't really have many possessions, just what's in my backpack. I didn't really have a chance to pack before I left home.

Elena nodded at Abyss' words, clearly a little overwhelmed by it all. "Uh, my powers aren't really that destructive, so I don't think I'll be needing one of the special rooms, though they can have some slightly unpleasant effects." Elena stopped talking and thought for a long moment. "I've never really felt completely at ease with my powers. Either having them or using them. I hope that maybe this place might give me the opportunity to more fully accept them. They are a part of me, I guess, and I can't really change that. For better or worse."
Elena watched as Abyss cleaned his tattoo. She had been wanting to get one of her own for quite some time and, despite the chaos in her life, made a mental note to do so soon. "I guess I just want to say thank you," she said suddenly. "You didn't have to do this for me, a complete stranger, and you did. You may have just helped to save my life and I want you to know that I will repay you for that. I don't know how yet, but I will repay you."
After an awkward moment of silence, Elena hesitantly penciled in the name Void next to one of the rooms. "I guess my mutant name's probably the best one to use here, eh?" she said with an attempt at a chuckle. It came out a little half hearted but nevertheless seemed genuine.

Cancer wandered out of his new room and herd sounds coming from elsewhere in the building. "Finaly, some other mutants to talk with" he thought to himself.
Making his way tord the sound, he found a mass of twerps gathered around in the living area. Most were a good several years younger, at that sweet age when mutantins start to show. But there was one guy who seemd to be in charge, a big red guy.
"Hay Big guy" he called "You in charge here, I came round a while ago and havnt seen a soul. This is the Sanctuary...right"
Matthew stepped out of the bus, and walked silently with the other mutants, gaping in turn with him as well, as they marveled at the hopes of new, better lives, and the the ones they had once had to never occur again. Also, they wished to be treated as real people, not items, or pests that must be killed. He closed the door after him, oddly feeling that it was up to him, and walked around, wondering what all was here. He had seen from the outside it looked huge, but from the inside, it looked even larger. The dining room was empty, yet full at the same time. This may have felt this way because the extremely high ceilings, or because Matthew's old house was a box. It was unknown to him which ever it was though. He walked around for a while, feeling extremely out of place, and lower class, (though not the words 'lower class') and it was about five minutes before he had seen Abyss nearby, and he walked over to him, he then saw, as a group of people moved out of his way, that he was talking to people, and grew upset that he had come over to him, he wasn't great at meeting new people, he usually tried to avoid others the best he could, though it was a bit difficult at times. He would have walked away, but knowing one of them must have seen by that time, he approached anyways. He still had not spoke, idential to the times before, and the time when he was the bus, and an older mutant had attempted engaging in a conversation with him, he simply moved over to the window, and ignored them. He looked at the girl, taking in every inch of her that he could, which was pretty observant depending on his age, and state of intellegence, bit then moved over to Cancer, though he was clueless to his name at the moment, and did the same. He felt oddly studied, though they might have not even been looking at him at all, and blushed a deep red that overtook his light albino skin color.

Cancer hadn't noticed, but one of the anklebitters had been steadily inching towards him. The kid looked pretty young to be here. Five years...maybe six tops, thats how old Cid gave him. He looked pretty overwhelmed by everthing that was going on. He may act like a jerk, but Cancer deep down had a soft spot for kids. He bent down and looked the boy square in the eyes.
"Hay kid....you ok. You seem a little down" he said as warmly as he could. Even then, it sounded a little rough. Even with the best intentions, Cancer always came on a bit mean. But he gave the bst smile he could muster and was trying to be nice. What more could he do?

Elena positioned herself slightly behind Abyss, hiding in his shadow. She tried to look inconspicuous as the male stranger approached and asked Abyss if he was in charge. When it came to nervousness vs. anticipation of meeting other mutants, nervousness appeared to be winning for the time being. Elena almost didn't notice the young child approach. She hadn't expected children, that was for sure. Didn't even know that children could be mutants and the reality of it struck her as being rather tragic. Mutants faced enough problems as it was, but to have to face those problems as a child....it was....almost unthinkable. Her own powers hadn't begun appearing until puberty and she was at least able to come to terms with their existence, even if she had yet to fully accept them. She couldn't have done that at the age of 5 or 6. Elena just sort of figured that the same applied to everyone. Showed how much she had to learn about all of this mutant stuff.
Elena put her hands up to her sunglasses, contemplating. She then stood up on the tips of her toes in order to whisper into Abyss' ear without the others nearby hearing her. "Would it be all right if, while I was here, I let my eyes show?" If that little child could accept what he was at his age, then it was about time that she truly begin to accept what she was. It wasn't something that she should have to be ashamed of. It wasn't something that she should have to run from, wasn't something that she should have to hide. And if she couldn't openly display her heritage here, among fellow mutants, than what hope was there truly for her?

Void watched, clearly awestruck, as Abyss' clones appeared. That was something she had never seen before and, if she were honest with herself, it was really quite fascinating. Suddenly realizing that she was staring, Void lowered her eyes to the floor and with a deep breath, removed her sunglasses and placed them in her purse. Hesitantly she raised her head and looked directly upon the others. This was the first time she had went without her sunglasses in...well, virtually since her eyes had first changed. Even her friends and family, accepting though they were, acted strangely when they were forced to directly confront the reality that she was a mutant, so she just wore the sunglasses and that was that. Although the act caused a great deal of anxiety in void, it also felt rather refreshing. Rebellious even.
"You've done more than you know," Void told Abyss firmly. "It may not seem like much to you, but to me its more than a stranger has ever done for me."

Void nodded and smiled a little shyly. She liked the idea of having a friend out here and, although she wasn't entirely sure what her opinions were on a mutant utopia, saying that mutants could do some things better than humans did make a certain kind of sense. She knew that she certainly could. And perhaps a little demonstration might just be in order. It could be fun.
"This won't hurt," Void said as her only warning before activating her power. She smiled mischievously and lifted her hands in front of her and, after concentrating for a moment, two void black tendrils appeared from the center of her palms, identical in color to her hands. Each went in a different direction and wrapped around one arm of each of the Abyss clones. Void could feel the paralyzing energy run through her hands and down into the tips of the tendrils, something that, despite her best efforts, always seemed to occur when the touched anything living. She was careful, however, to wrap them around clothing rather than directly onto flesh, something that partially mitigated that particular effect. When Abyss said super strong, she wasn't exactly sure how strong that meant, but just to be on the safe side Void make certain that she did not grab to hard with her tendrils. It was so easy to snap bones with them, sometimes it was a little bit frightening. Humans could be so fragile. She then attempted to lift the two Abyss clones up and return them to the ground, in reversed position.

Void was quite surprised when one of the clones caught in her tendrils disappeared and equally surprised when he reappeared behind her and placed his finger on her shoulder. Void had been intending just to set the remaining clone down gently upon the ground but then thought better of it. Maybe they could have some fun instead. After all, how often had she really had the opportunity to test her powers properly? Void carefully directed the remaining tendril behind Saturn's neck, careful to keep it out of his range of perception. She let it wait there for the moment, about an inch from his skin. This time there wouldn't be any protection from clothing. With the other tendril, still wrapped around Jupiter's arm, she adjusted her trip slightly, having the tendril snake down his arm and around his bare hand and felt the paralyzing power take full effect. It would be interesting to see if it was as effective on mutants as it was on humans. She had a feeling it would be.
"I would have a very unfair advantage if we arm wrestled," Void said matter of factly. She was looking up at Jupiter to watch his reaction to her power but was careful not to lose track of the other clone or Abyss. "You wouldn't be able to move a muscle to compete against me. And even if you could, your muscles wouldn't have quite the...potency you're used to them having."
Isabel had been simply wandering about the Sanctuary, no particular destination in mind as she passed through rooms and down hallways, exploring and trying to gather a mental bearing of the place she'd be residing in when she heard a group of voices conversing in the nearby nearby Dining Hall. Curiosity getting the better of her, she decided to investigate, entering the room casually and letting her gaze pass over the group of children and older mutants that had congregated there. The Sanctuary certainly was acquiring quite a large number of new residents.
Taking up her casual gait once more, she wove around the children as the big red clones went about restoring order in the group. An amused grin found its way onto her features as she looked at yet another scowling clone who'd been restrained by a girl she'd never seen before. "Found a new friend to play with, have we, Abyss?" she inquired good-naturedly, her tone holding a hint of amusement to match her expression as she slowed to a stop a short ways away from him and the girl. "That power's quite impressive. You'll fit right in around here." she said approvingly, this time addressing the young woman.
I’m just a well-adjusted gal who likes to leave a serious amount of mayhem in her wake.
Overcast walked into the room. She had a very commanding prescence, even though she was trying not to draw attention to herself. She always found that quality odd, since she was among the shorter population. Either way, she was hungry, and she simply wanted to go into the dining hall, find some food, and then sit and eat to her heart's content. That was all. But when she finally found the place she discovered that she was not the first one there, and so she sidled over to the food and hoped that no one would notice her, although it was obvious that she had just come in, because she was the only person who had just come into a room a people. Oh well.
Thorn came walking into the room, brandishing a cigarette on her lips. She had been out drinking and partying and decided it was time to return to the Sanctuary. The alcohol had settled...to a certain degree. Now she just needed some bread or something, she did not want a hang over. Time? No, it did not matter what time it was, in fact, Thorn had no clue what time it really was.
As she took another drag, she stepped into the dining hall and raised an eyebrow. Quite a bunch had gathered. She recognized some, but not all. With a shrug, she moved forward, grabbed some food (yes, bread) and sat down in a seat, comfortably, might I add. She wore a white corset with a black partially long sleeve shirt. On the corset, there were black embroidered designs, specifically spades from a deck of cards. With that, she wore black pinstriped pants and her hair was pulled back, only leaving some to cover the left side of her face.
After she had settled down, she leaned back and put out her cigarette on the small dish she had picked up. She then proceeded to cover the dish with a napkin, in order not to be rude, before she started to eat her bread. No, smoke and bread did not always mix, but Thorn had gotten used to smokey tasting food, so she ate it, never-the-less. Looking up, she scanned the people that were there, attempting to absorb herself in their conversation, but she had not heard any yet, so she simply chewed and listened to when her que to enter the conversation would sound. Whenever that be...

The sound of a stomach rumbling signaled Kaz's entrance into the Dining Hall. He had gone back to his room to change before heading here, now wearing his customary black and red outfit. As he turned the corner to enter the room, he spun quickly to avoid running into a kid. He opened his mouth to say something to the kid but closed it after deciding not to. After his spin he took note of the goings on of the room. Mostly of the multiple Abysses all around. Hard to miss that big red guy, let alone several. Standing and watching silently as the play between two of the Abysses and a gothy lookin girl went on. As one begin to lift the girl he moved with all speed and intercepted her. Skidding to a hault about five feet from where the two Abyss stood, holding the girl in his arms, one under her knees with the other behind her back. "Abyss, whichever of you is Abyss," He said chuckling a bit. "I don't think we want to have to scrape anyone off the ceiling here. Some of us want to eat in peace."

Void was somewhat less surprised when the second Abyss clone teleported out of her grip much as the first had done however, when the two clones attempted to pick her up she was still startled enough not to resist. After a minute of dizzying spinning she had been just about to reach down with her tendrils and halt the activity; she hadn't lost this contest yet, when she was suddenly put down. Void took a moment to steady herself then looked around at the myriad of people who were now standing around eating and watching.
"We should try this again sometime," Void said with a wide grin. She was surprised that she was still capable of smiling and having fun, given the recent happenings in her life. Things were definitely looking up. "And I do not concede victory to you. I still had a few tricks up my sleeve had we not be intercepted!"
Being silent for a few moments, Void took the time to observe those who had arrived since she and Abyss had begun their little game. There certainly seemed to be a variety of people living here. She nodded her head slightly in the direction of most of the others. "Hello. I'm Void. Um, I guess I'm new here. Abyss said it would be all right if I stayed her for a while." Suddenly she was feeling very nervous again, the adrenaline having worn off from the contest with Abyss. She subtly tried to move behind the big guy in order to hide from the prying eyes of the others.

Setting the girl down, "Hope I didn't spook ya too much." Moving over to Abyss, "Thanks man." He paused and smirked, "No one takes a guy like me seriously if I walk into a room ready to bare knuckled. I'm a bit dissapointed though, you saw my moved, but I didn't get to see yours. All I knew is when that gate went down, all the tower guards were MIA." Looking at the big guy with a smirk as he turned toward the kitchen, "I think this little skirmish should be taken to the training room, maybe make it a three way contest." As he neared the kitchen he called out, "And I promise, no blade..." Gathering his breath in his lungs he began to vibrate his vocal cords so that his voice would carry but still not be super loud, "Now, WHO WANTS SOME SLAMICHES? I'M MAKIN GRILLED CHEESE AND TUNA MELTS!"
