The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kaitlyn was holding out hope that her next power growth would make her turn invisible, and that it would manifest itself in the next few minutes. She was so certain that she could control herself, until now. She was even starting to feel proud of herself. But nope, she got a case of hiccups and proceeded to nearly kill some of her classmates while wrecking part of the school, and it was all she could do to stop it from getting any worse than that.
She sat up a little bit. The girl with the blood wall got completely shredded, and she wasn’t getting any better by herself, meaning she wasn’t some kind of self-healer like Kaitlyn hoped. DocProf was crouching over her, looking at her all worried-like. Although it was good that he was there to heal everyone, it made Kaitlyn feel even worse that his services were needed because she screwed up so hard. She went back to lying down on the ground. It seemed like an appropriate place for her to be, since she felt so much like dirt.
BOOM
Two of the Mansion’s windows shattered, sending bits of glass flying outwards. Something blew up in the room for Kaitlyn’s Algebra class. Nobody was hurt, thankfully.
“I didn’t do it!” Kaitlyn shouted, desperate to stop others from thinking even less of her than they probably already did.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
Serena looked up at the doc, feeling a little less dizzy then earlier. "Hi again Doc, It doesn't hurt too much, but I think I might have a little bit of blood loss..." Serena said weakly.
At least, she had protected the kids. "My legs a little numb, I think that might be one of the more severely injured area's, and my left shoulder still has glass in it. Are the kids ok?" Serena asked with massive concern in her voice.
She had used herself as extra shielding, not because she wasn't convinced that the wall would hold up, but because she was convinced that she needed some sort of medium for making and holding up the wall, that medium was her.
If she hadn't done that... Well, she thought it would have been harder to maintain.
Doc Prof smiled and shook his head, understanding while at the same time, fatherly with worry. "Everyone will be fine, when I'm done." He said reassuringly. "Minor nicks and scratches, nothing more. You did well..." He placed his hand on her, and focused his power. A white light covered his hand as he healed, and the history of her injuries came to him one by one. "You really should be more careful next time," he added. "I'd hate to see you get hurt."
As Doc Prof healed, Amelia looked around, eyes settling on the redhead in the distance. It seemed like her hiccups had calmed down for the most part... the window, she'd noticed, but luckily nobody'd been near it when it rained glass. Her face was drawn in a look of concern... as well as a hint of guilt. The girl was probably cold. It was a crying shame her attempt to shock her hadn't worked.
She decided she'd wait to see if the girls hiccups had completely stopped, then bring her something to wear... unless she had already snagged her shirt. Amelia wasn't certain. A lot had happened during the confusion.

Finally, Kaitlyn decided that she would put on her shirt again, and if somebody saw something for a fraction of a second, she wouldn’t care. The damage had already been done when her shirt flew off in the first place.
She sat up, cross-legged, careful to keep her chest covered at all times. Then, she turned herself around so she was facing away from the DocProf and that large group of kids. Finally, when she felt confident that nobody was looking at her, she unfurled her shirt.
As it turns out, she didn’t have a shirt anymore. Whatever had been holding her shirt together at the seams had disintegrated, and she was now holding on to unwearable scraps of fabric. In a fit of rage, she threw her shirt’s remains as hard as she could, and went back to holding her arms over her chest.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
Serena gave a now stronger smile to the Doctor. "I'll try to refrain from that in future. Thank you Doc. She added with a smile. Serena's mind was now becoming slightly clearer.
It was as if a mental haze had cleared from her mind after a while. She wondered if this was what it felt like to sober up after being drunk. After all, she hadn't ever really been drunk.
She stood up... sort of. She managed to get to her feet before another bout of dizziness hit her, then she leaned against the wall and put a hand to her head until everything stopped spinning.
She remembered something about the girls shirt getting ruined. She looked over slowly and noted that it was indeed in ruins. Serena had a zip-up hoodie which she had been wearing... It was a little torn and had some blood on it. But still mostly in tact.
She smiled to Amelia and murmured. "Hey Amelia, can you help me over to her, she looks like she's stopped and she must feel awful and embarrassed. I want to give her my hoodie till she can get to her room for a change of clothes."
Even now, after nearly passing out from blood loss, Serena was thinking of the girl who nearly killed her by accident.
That seemed like a silly thing to do, making her exert herself more than she needed to, after all that blood loss. What she needed now was bed rest and a cookie. And maybe some warm chicken soup. Someone would have to help the girl back to her room. The thought was noble and all, but it would have been a symbolic gesture. Just that.
"Tell you what," Amelia said. She met Serena's eyes diplomatically. "I'll take it over to her, and you stay here with Doc Prof. We'll find you a place to lay down in a minute. Sound good?"
Her offer had better have sounded good, because Doc Prof agreed with her. The blond looked shaky. The last thing she needed now was needless exertion.
Quietly, Serena agreed. Doc Prof helped her slip her hoodie off and pass it on to Amelia. The girl took it, rising, and walked it across the yard to where the shirtless redhead was.
"Hey," she got the girl's attention. The hoodie was held in her outstretched hand. "Serena wants you to borrow this. Until you can find something better to wear. Sorry about your shirt... they say sudden fright can scare hiccups away... but it didn't, in this case..." Her voice dropped awkwardly. Her face was apologetic.

Kaitlyn turned her head. As soon as she realized somebody was offering her clothes, she snatched the hoodie from the taller girl’s hands and hastily put it on.
It was bloodied, and a bit torn up, but it would keep Kaitlyn’s chest covered up. That was the important part. The name ‘Serena’ rang a bell, and it irritated Kaitlyn that she couldn’t remember who that person was, or why she should know her.
“Thanks,” she said, a few moments later that she probably ought to have.
As she stumbled to her feet, she realized why this girl was apologizing about the shirt. “That was you?” Until this point, she had imagined the culprit to be some kind of weirdo boy with less-than-noble intentions, whom she had desperately wanted to punch. But…
She shrugged. “Meh. Makes sense, I guess.” It would have been a lot better if it worked.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
A few minutes had passed and the dizziness had pretty much receded completely from Serena. Doc Prof was impressed at the rate that she had recovered. Most of her skin had returned to complete coloration, and she didn't look like she was dizzy or cold anymore.
She looked down at her hands. It was strange. Although, she did know that she recovered from blood loss strangely fast. Before the Doc could say anything as she stood up she gave him a reassuring smile. "Don't worry. I recover from blood loss really fast... Funnily enough."
She leaned against the wall, feeling a lot of tiredness in her muscles and body. "Although I am pretty tired, I should probably get something to eat and drink shortly." She smiled to him, tiredly.
Doc nodded and smiled. "Just don't strain yourself too much Serena."
Serena nodded and leaned against the wall, looking over to the red headed girl and Amelia. She smiled to them and gave a small wave.
When the redhead asked if she'd been the one to take off her shirt, Amelia nodded solemnly. Was the girl going to get mad? Maybe blow her up? Or...? she shrugged. It was much better than explosions. Amelia shrugged back. "It would have been better if it had worked," she said. She had a feeling, from all the shrugging, the redhead agreed. "If there's a next time, I'll just shock you by using a dancing shoe." The image of a dancing, singing, anthropomorphic shoe jiggled impudently in her mind.
With a tiny yawn, the girl stretched her arms out in front of her, fingers laced together. Joints popped. Aside from minor cuts and scratches, she wasn't any worse for the wear. Today wasn't so bad. It could have been a whole lot worse. With that thought balanced precariously atop her head like a hat, she glanced Serena's way, as if to check that she was still there and living. The girl wasn't. But she was a little ways from where she'd been. Amelia had glanced just in time to catch the wave. With a small smile, she waved back. "That's the girl who lent you the hoodie," she said, in case it wasn't fully clear.

A dancing shoe? Kaitlyn didn’t think that would shock her. Honestly, she wasn’t even sure if she would register it as unusual. It would probably be impolite to say that, though. She answered with a noncommittal shrug and averted her gaze, still feeling guilty about nearly killing everyone.
In the process, she noticed Serena waving at them.
Crap. Crap. Crap. Serena was Victoria’s new blood source. That’s why she knew that name. And Kaitlyn nearly killed her! Serena still looked like a wreck, even with the wounds healed up. What the hell was she smiling about? She nearly died! And she might not be healthy enough to give blood to Victoria now, which meant that they wouldall be in for a world of crap.
She sighed. “I’m sorry about all this.” She wanted to crawl into a hole and die. “I normally don’t lose control like that.” At least, she hadn’t done anything like this for months.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
Now it was Amelia's turn to shrug. "Don't worry about it." She said. "We were lucky. This was the school for it, and we had people who could help. I doubt it'll happen again, and if it does, you'll be better prepared. So don't beat yourself up about it. Besides," she smiled, and crossed her arms at Kaitlyn. "Besides, it wasn't your fault. It's not like you forced yourself to get hiccups."
Just because she'd smiled, it didn't make the situation any less awkward for the girl. She'd just gone topless in front of a bunch of people, and nearly killed everyone. It was not a fun situation to be in... or have been in. "So." She changed the subject. "How about we go to the infirmary and get you some loaner clothes, and maybe an ice cream cone?"

Kaitlyn forced herself to smile back. It wasn’t a very enthusiastic or sincere expression. She was certain that, if the Xavier’s students hadn’t been so lucky, most of them would have become terrified of going anywhere near her ever again.
“I could just get a shirt from my room.” She’d much rather avoid the infirmary at the moment. “But uh… hold up. Ice cream?” Where would they get ice cream? Why? As a general rule, she certainly wasn’t opposed to the idea of getting ice cream, but that didn’t stop her from being confused.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
As the others were busy doing their thing, Serena decided before she did ANYTHING she needed fresh clothes... Her Jeans would need to be tossed, they were shredded and Serena detested that shredded jeans look.
Her shirt had a few more holes in it than she would like... But that girl had no top, so the small loss of dignity compared to hers was definitely worth it. Serena started walking inside, getting the occasional odd look from the people who had been near by and had seen how much blood she had lost.
There were the occasional students who also gave her a quick once over, then payed it no attention, because after all, even if she had lost way more blood than would normally be considered safe, the mansion did not operate under what most people would consider "Normal" circumstances...
Serena quickly moved to her room and stripped down, tossing the jeans and torn top into the bin, and grabbing some fresh clothes to get changed into, it felt good to not be wearing something completely torn up from flak.
Shirt from room? That sounded good, too. And the ice cream had thrown her. Amelia nodded gravely. "It's Mansion Rules after embarrassing situations," she lied. "Ice cream, or chocolate. Or sometimes, both."
The girl had been mortified, terrified, and needed something to help her feel better and relax. Amelia could empathize. She'd done plenty of embarrassing things in her life... and had worse happen. Though maybe not 'show your bare chest to a bunch of kids from school' worse, the fact remained. She could understand how the redhead felt.
With all the hubbub dying down, the flocks of students had quickly dispersed without them really noticing. Now, it was down to Amelia, Kaitlyn, a couple weird-looking pink students (Who promptly merged into one hot pink student), and Doc Prof. He was watching them, in case they once more needed his help. His arms were crossed, but he wasn't frowning. More a dutifully look of understanding.

“I could go for ice cream. Sure.” A brief attempt at a smile, just to let Ami know that she was grateful, even if she didn’t feel much like smiling. And that she was pretty sure Ami was lying about that rule. She really hoped Ami was lying about that rule. Otherwise, Kaitlyn had already accrued a lot of outstanding ice cream (and/or chocolate) debt during her time at Xaviers’.
“Lemme get that shirt, first.”
A glance at the Doc Prof. She could see his crossed arms, but not the look on his face. They usually weren’t on good terms, given the number of students Kaitlyn had injured for one reason or another. As much as she wanted to avoid him, she still needed to go in and get her shirt.
“It really was an accident this time, sir,” she said as she passed him.
He chuckled. “I know, Miss Faust.”
The doors were still missing; splinters, hinges, and a metal locking mechanism were all that remained of them, aside from the empty space where they used to exist. The interior of the Mansion leading up to her room looked about as bad as one would expect, if a series of bombs had gone off along the whole way. Thankfully, Kaitlyn was in the hallway when the hiccups started, so her own room was intact, aside from a few nasty-looking cracks in the door.
Soon, she stepped carefully down the destroyed staircase, now wearing an un-destroyed red t-shirt with a giant black X on the front. The X was made of thousands of tiny A’s, G’s, C’s and T’s.
