The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

His surprise at Evelyn's story was more delightful than she expected, and the smile on her face spread a bit more. She couldn't remember laughing quite this much, but it felt nice, and better after seeing so many tearful faces. While the incident hadn't been quite as funny when she thought her life was in peril, in hindsight at least she felt more comfortable with the memories. Which was probably good, considering she would have to deal with them for the rest of her life.
"Honestly, I expected you to throw me out of the shop and tell me to never come back. My gift rarely seems to put me on good terms with people. It's too personal for their liking. So I'll take the opportunities I can get to be ... normal." She couldn't remember the last time she sat and had lunch with someone by herself. And since she remembered everything... usually Jensen was there to shadow her and that put a damper on life. The momentary day of freedom was relaxing.
"I work at the Metropolitan. I'm just general staff, but I do a lot of advising and work specifically with the accuracy of the exhibits and their care. Having a good eye for detail means I can spot any tampering with a painting, or can note when something is out of place." A light shrug. "I enjoy it, for the most part. Kinda stay in the background so I don't have to deal with patrons. I think the museum thinks I'll analyze the wrong person and get them in trouble." It wasn't such a far fetched concern, based on her behavior.
"Psh. I have more manners zan to sthrow you out." He found Evelyn interesting to say the least. "I sink ze trick to being your friend is to not be ashamed of your secrets." At least Jude owned up to his. The only people who didn't know were strangers, mostly clients. To be fair, people believed a winsome 20-something a lot more than they believed a 13 year old.
"I can see zat being a good fit for your abilities. It feels good when you get to do somesing you are good at. Plus you get to be surrounded by beautiful sings all day." He chewed for a bit mentally and physically.
"I should find somesing zats a better fit for me." Surely he could make more money than he was now. Not that money was the mark of achievement, but it was s perceivable goal at least. Svetty would not complain either.

Evelyn ate while he spoke, listening quietly and considering what he was saying. I think the trick to being your friend is to not be ashamed of your secrets... That was a different way of putting it, but in a way, it made her feel better. Usually she regarded her gift as socially crippling. She didn't think people would really want to bother learning to deal with it. She wondered if she would have trouble being friends with someone like herself: someone who would know her secrets and she'd just have to accept that. She'd like to think the answer was yes, but without having the opportunity brought up, it was hard to say anything for sure.
"You certainly have a rare viewpoint when in comes to things... but it's refreshing, really." She gave a smile, and felt once again surprised by her strange companion. In many ways, he was young, but then there were these moments where he seemed to view the world with a unique clarity. Perhaps that was the gift of seeing the future.
"The museum certainly has a wonderful collection, and I regard the pieces of art higher than many things in this life. Art has always been an anchor to me. With so many thoughts in my head, it is nice to have something to quiet them."
She considered his own musing and tried to think of something that could suit the young mutant. It was hard when she wasn't entirely sure what his powers were. Seeing the future seemed to be only part of it, considering being an 'oracle' wasn't a good 'fit' in his eyes. "I take it you can do more than just read futures." She contemplated out loud.
Unique point of view? Probably. What other 13 going on 20-somethings could there be?
"Ah, as embarrassing as it iz, I have never been to ze at museum here. I 'ave been to gallery showings, but never ze actual event." Evelyn made it sound as delightful as art could be.
He smiled when she called him out on his mutation. "Right again." Jude was mostly picking at his food now.
"My power iz your power. I copy. If I didn't know anyone withs power, I wouldn't have any. Ze boy who I take sis ability from iz a spoil sport and no good for customers." And Jude? Well, the general client base for the mystic arts was a middle aged woman.
Cougars left the best tips of he could manage to keep them from getting handsy.
Evelyn gave him an expression of mock horror that he had never visited her beloved museum, but quickly let it fade with a slight shrug. "Well, one of these days you'll have to remedy that. I may just be biased, but I think it's one of New York's finest attractions. There's a gal, Carmondy, and she's really good at giving tours. I've listened to a few of them and she doesn't botch up the history like most the staff." She remarked.
His explanation of his powers did reveal a thing or two about him, and she gave a half smile, with a sort of apologetic expression. "While I can imagine that would be fun at times, there are a few powers I would rather not copy. Some mutations are more complicated than others... I do apologize if you end up with mine at any point. It can get... noisy hearing echoes off of everything." She remarked, considering how she would describe the experience.
"No really. I want to, but... you know itz one of zose sings when you live close to somesing and you always sink you'll get around to it..." He shrugged and she didn't torment him with her mock horror for long.
"I would like zat. Do you know when your Carmondy iz working next week?" He could fit it in if he tried. And It sounded like it was worth trying. Wasn't like he was getting set up to date this Carmondy or even this Evelyn. It was just a museum tour. The most highly recommended one he had heard. (Okay, also the only one, but still!)
He scuffed his feet against the concrete beneath the table as he remembered the multitude of powers he had borrowed. "Yeah... zere are some really squirrelly powers out zere. Especially before I could control myself well. It was... hard." Even now physical touch was the hardest thing to maintain without taking on the other power. Good thing Svetty had figured out a way to keep their little trysts from waking up the entire city.
"But as a result I have experience in a lot of different kinds of control. Mental powers are my specialty. I was actually sinking I might borrow yours sometime ulness zere's somesing permanent zat I might regret?" It was rare that he got to ask before he copied. Whatever the echoes were, he wanted to know.

Evelyn nodded after a moment of consideration. "I think I understand that. I've lived in the city my whole life, but I only managed to travel to the Statue of Liberty last year. Since they're so close it's easy to put it off a little longer. I think if I traveled here from further away I'd be more inclined to try to get everything done because I wouldn't know when I'd come back again." She decided finally, and finished off her last bite of food.
When he asked about her co-worker, Evelyn closed her eyes for a moment, hunting for the image of their work schedule. The memory flickered to the surface-- "Tuesday from 4-close." She said aloud, then opened her eyes again. It took a moment for the memory to flicker back into place. It gave jude a moment to respond and she listened. She gave a little half-smile when he mentioned borrowing her powers.
"I don't think there is anything permanent, but the...experience would certainly be something you'd want to be prepared for. My echoes...it's like having a bunch of voices in your head pointing out everything around you. The color of someones shoelaces, the way they tuck in their tie, the way they move, body posture, times, all trying to talk at the same time. You have to discern what you want to pay attention to, and tune out the rest. I call the chatter the 'echoes'. Everything around you will 'echo' information. The part that is a bit more difficult is I don't forget. If you have my power for any amount of time, you won't dream, you'll just relive your memories. Mine playbacks on go back to when my powers manifested, so I bet yours would only be over the time you have them. But... Don't see the wrong thing." There was a flicker across her face that looked a little sad, and a little frightened, but it vanished quickly as she turned, looking for their waitress to get the check.
She spaced out, but before Jude could ask Miss Holmes struck again. "Ah." He fished his phone out of his pocket and sent himself a text so he wouldn't forget. "I wasn't expecting an answer right away, but you do your sing. I forgot." Or maybe he hadn't imagined it working in this instance.
So nothing permanent except for memories? Hm. He chewed that thought over for a while. Would that be a "feature" he would get stuck with forever or would be one of those things that faded once he let go of the mutation? If he had to guess at the very least the memories from the time he copied her power would remain with him forever. Holmes seemed to agree.
Hmmm. He rolled that information around in his head for a while. "Believe it or not, I sink I've had worse." Psychics with no control had to learn to weed out erroneous thoughts that were not their own. Air elementals with spatial sense had to learn to see where the air was not in order to see at all. Crippling headaches, body deformations, he'd even known a life threatening mutation or two. "At least it's all internal, somesing you can pretend past or cover up." He shrugged. "Poor comfort maybe, but it's somesing."
"Thanks for ze warning all ze same." It was better to be prepared before jumping into something.
It seemed this little lunch was at an end. "Let me leave ze tip at least?" She could allow him that, couldn't she?

Evelyn's shrug was a little more shy. She felt odd using her abilities in public, but he had been pretty mellow about it compared to most people. And there were no sidewards glances that showed he thought she was nuts. That was refreshing.
He also didn't seem super put off by the idea of having memories stuck in his head for an undisclosed amount of time. Easy to say now, but she wondered how he'd feel if it actually happened. Then again, having not experienced a handful of abilities like him, she could only imagine the possibilities. Maybe having to listen to a few voices wasn't so bad.
"I'd rather warn you than have you come back complaining about being stuck watching the same bad episode of television every night when you sleep or something like that." She smiled, and tucked a credit card into the bill the waitress had dropped off. "And I can let you leave the tip. My pride won't be hurt." She gave a smirk and then finished off the last of her lemonade. It was a decent meal, and the conversation had been nice as well.
Good. Jude fished a couple crumpled bills out of his pocket and counted out what he estimated the tip to be. They looked sad, all wrinkly like that so he set the salt shaker on top of them to help keep them sort of straight and also pinned down.
"Well, I hope to see you again some day Ms. Holmes. Let'z meet under better circumstances next time, please." Jude offered his hand for the good old goodbye handshake.

Evelyn stood, and waited for him to organize the tip, returning her card to her wallet when the waitress brought it back. At least it had been quiet on the patio, and they hadn't had to wait for a million other bills to get settled first. Evelyn hated to waste time.
She gave a small smile and a nod of her head. "I'm sure we'll run into each other eventually, especially if you ever make that trip to the museum you've been putting off. I'll make sure the staff doesn't scare you away." At least that would be more relaxing then this situation had been. Missing husband, stressed out mother, crying tears... it was exhausting, minus the lunch. She let her hand settle into his for the polite handshake, already planning her path home.
