The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The message had been delivered. Lisa had seen to it. Once the woman had gotten the invitation, she'd arrived as soon as she could. Lenna had not had to wait long. She suspected the woman had questions. The message had been vague. 'Ms. Lenna wants to see you, come to the meeting room at noon'.
"I suspect you have questions?" She reiterated the obvious. Sometimes, redundancy paid off.
Seyta nodded. "Mostly, what is the meeting for?" The first, and only other time she had met Lenna caused her to get tangled in a small one shot blackmailing. She had noting personal against Lenna but she had learned that Lenna's ability is what canceled her own. As much as Seyta wanted to turn her ability off, she wanted it to be on her terms not her un-official bosses.
"Please, have a seat." Lenna ushered Seyta to one of the chairs around the board room's table. Technically, the room was called the "War Room", but she'd never liked that name. To her, it was always the Board Room. It seemed far more businesslike, and less... likely to go to war. She moved to seat herself.
Fingers steepled.
"I've got a mission for you, should you choose to accept it." Was all she said, to start things off.
>> " Please, have a seat. I've got a mission for you, should you choose to accept it."
Seyta sat and leaned back as far as the chair would go. She studied Lenna for a few seconds deciding if she could get away with putting her feet up, Seyta got the feeling that it was better not to. A mission, she could do that... possibly. "What kind? And is there a reward?" Being on the list for the mission she assumed the task involved stealth in some way. She wasn't very useful for much else, yet.
Her eyes narrowed slightly for a moment, as if considering whether or not the woman across the table from her had just contemplated putting her feet up. She studied the leaning face. "I want you to spy on some men who have recently come into some power they aren't used to, and are thinking about causing some trouble for me and mine. It would require stealth. I figured it was something you could gnash your teeth on, while you got some practice with that."
If the woman were to be of any real use to her, she would have to learn to use more than just her mutation to be undetectable. Seyta had yet to do this sort of mission before. Perhaps if it went well, she would consider training her a bit? Lenna wanted to gauge the woman's talents for this sort of thing. Blackmailing the mayor had been as much about luck as anything else.
As for the reward... "The pay is cash. And potentially something more." She regarded the woman passively, giving nothing away with her look.
>> "...I figured it was something you could gnash your teeth on, while you got some practice with that. The pay is cash. And potentially something more."
Spying, that was a bit unexpected but not impossible for her. Although without some details Seyta would be lost as to what she needed to learn. As for the reward, Lenna's face made the wall behind her look expressive. Either way Seyta would figure it out when everything was done with. For now, details. "Seems straight forward. I'm better at getting great discounts at stores, but I'll manage. What do we already know and what do I need to find out?"
It turned out there were two goobers, Romano and Cheng, both from rival mob syndicates. Due to unforeseen events, they had suddenly gotten promotions, and decided to work together. It wasn't clear to Lenna how they'd jumped through those ranks, and she told Seyta this. Said it wouldn't hurt finding out. More important to find out, though, was exactly what they were doing in Order territory, what they were planning, and if they had the power to back up that chutzpah. If not, they were idiots, and needed wiping out. That, she didn't tell the woman. Other people could handle the job.
Verbally, she communicated the different potential meeting places Romano and Cheng might likely use. She listed places they'd been seen together before, told her she didn't know which place they'd use, if any, for their next meeting (if they were planning one). That, she said, would be something Seyta could find out.
"I want to know why they're in our territory. I want to know what they're up to, who they've got with them, and whatever else seems relevant to the Order, and me." Lenna stated. "You don't need to do anything more than that. Don't get caught. If things are getting too sticky, feel free to temporarily retreat. Understand?"
She didn't want Seyta to try too hard without adequate experience. She didn't want that on her conscience, should something bad happen due to her trying to fly too close to the sun. She hadn't even earned her wax wings.
Seyta nodded jotting down notes as Lenna gave her the details. She was the observer, nothing more. Getting up as She was dismissed Seyta left feeling more at ease knowing she was outside the range of Lenna's ability again. As long as she could pull everything together for this mission she would find herself doing well in the Order.
