Character
Personality: (How you character behaves, social tendencies, quirks, etc.) In by no means at all does Jasper let the wheelchair that he tends to confine himself in, confine who he is nor what he is able to do. Fully aware of the presence of mutants in the community, there is a bit of a fear within him that the quiet acceptance given to those with their mutations will vanish completely. Trying to stay under the radar, he takes precautions to hide the fact he is a mutant and will lie if need be. Living in a bit of a gray area, Jasper will use what he has available to change things to his own favor.
In social gatherings, Jasper tries to keep the mask on of being confined to a wheelchair. Making investments in props and such, he will bother others to 'fetch things' that are out of his reach. No longer using a manual chair, he does not have the excuse of getting someone to push him. Although his own desires to stay hidden as a mutant, he is very careless on keeping his mutation low key when he his alone in his apartment or when he believes he is alone.
Jasper has a horrible habit of using video games in conversation that he gets animated over. A success might deem him to make the Legend of Zelda 'item acquired' noise, or if something goes sour in conversation, he might sing the little tune from Super Mario Brothers when the hero dies. If he is out in a public location and the overhead music plays anything similar to a video game he knows, he might start quoting lines from the game or even roll about as if he is living through the game. Half of the time when he is acting out a video game, he is trying to impress another person or is just being a goofy ham.
Despite his overly geeky interests and talents, Jasper does have a warm heart and seeks for the soft love an affection of others. He hates leaving others in a sour state and will try almost anything to cheer them. Yet if there is a point where his own state is put in a questionable position, he will desperately try to find alternative solutions that can keep a small portion of his pride.
Hobbies/ Interests: Video games are a large portions of Jasper's interest. By far, they tend to be the most quoted and brought into his normal day reactions. He however has not figured out a way yet to flash his cursing into word bubbles over his head, for if he could it would make it a bit more exciting for himself. When he isn't farting about on the computer, he can be found with a video game control in his hand.
Needing to keep up to date on pop culture, Jasper is a frequent visitor of comic book stores as he seeks out new issues of any comic. Though he tends to veer more towards the ones that have had video games associated with them. Unfortunately due to the wheelchair, it does make some shopping a bit more limited.
Computer language to Jasper is just as normal as speaking plain English. It is not on uncommon for Jasper to be playing around with coding on his computer to find ways to entertain himself. He has on more then one occasion used his computer to turn the lights on and off in his apartment for kicks.
Jasper does have an interest in architecture, and has put together several Lego buildings of architecture monuments. For fun, he does like to look at building plans of buildings. He will swear up and down that there is not much difference between the network systems of computers and buildings themselves. Granted his interest in the subject is nothing in comparison to his love of video games.
Job or part time job and description: (If applicable. Jobs can be established later through in character Rping.)Computer Technical support for various companies . Working in a large office building, in Manhattan, he is at the epicenter of international geeks. With the skills he had, and a bit of his personality, he rose up the ladder into a comfortable spot. Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Jasper has several fears and concerns, though most of them revolve around his own mutation. Even though mutants are more acceptable in society over the last twenty years, he has a rational fear that the tides might change. Due to his unique mutation, there is a fear that he will be caught and turned into a scientific experiment. The thought of being a human guinea pig is not something he is eagerly looking forward to experiencing and to that means he tries to hide his mutation.
Unrelated to his mutation, Jasper does have a fear of alien abduction. After watching one to many Sci-Fi movies, he is convinced that there is alien life form out there and believes that aliens do kidnap people. Similar to his fear of being used as a science experiment to figure out mutants, he has more of a fear that aliens would do more tests on him. On a full moon, it is possible to find him playing a video game late at night with a tinfoil hat on to pass the hours away of possible abduction.
Jasper is not excited over spiders and tried to avoid them. If he sees one, he will swat it with the nearest object. Finding spiders in his apartment is something that he hates wildly, not so much the actual spider itself but the idea that there are other things living in his apartment that a spider eats. A dirty apartment means having someone over to clean it up for him, because he most certainly has a phobia of using chemicals after finding out his mutation. Not sure of why or how he became a mutant, Jasper believes that adding more exposure to chemicals can give him further mutations.
There is a well rooted fear that his powers will go haywire at work. Not being able to use one hand while programming has a tendency for him to take a longer period of time to get the formatting done that he needs in order to get his work done. If both his arms become useless he is left in a state that can bring concern to his medical condition and might receive medications that his body does not need. Floppy sausage fingers can be difficult to work with and if he is unable to use the joystick to move his chair, he becomes a sitting duck.
As an avid video game player, storage for his addiction can become tight. Prone to laziness, he tends to keep most things within his reach. With the growing industry and continual new systems being produced, the placement of N64 games can battle against where he might store his PS3 items. With disk games in CD binders, some of the problem has been solved, though trips to his storage facility with the boxes for them are not as frequent as they could be. Theft into his apartment or natural disasters are a concern for him as he bulks up in unneeded insurance and security systems. But while he is home, he tends to forget to set the alarm unless he is going to sleep.
There is a fear he might pass the mutation gene down to any offspring he might have. Not in any hurry to tell a soul that he is a mutant, he is afraid that if the day came where a kin was born, it might pop out with an extra head or have squid arms. Finding it impossible to tell any current girlfriend about his mutation, he knows once the card is shown, he will loose the ability to exploit his 'handicap'. Special talents: (not related to mutation) Jasper is very familiar with the different programing languages used with computers. He also has a knack for finding the “bugs” in video games. With his knowledge of computer language, he is in the process of finding ways to tweak his apartment into a place that will aid him in hiding the fact he is a mutant. Knowing the computer languages well, he does have a knack of finding the holes in programs that can be modified to run more smoothly or enhance the quality of work.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: (please explain) Jasper lives in the land of neutral currently. Not far on either end of the spectrum, he does what is needed to meet his own personal needs and keep his secrecy. Keeping his personal matters to himself, Jasper might come across as a bit cut-throat at times, but in the end the truth can be different. If he feels that there is an unjust going about, he will tweak the system a bit to balance things out slightly. Having no qualms against using the system to his advantage, Jasper will do whatever is necessary in the end.
At times his tends to be on the darker side of neutral. With his own selfish ambitions needing to be met, he can royally screw over another person in the process. The fact that he uses a wheelchair to protect himself from his mutation at times, he can have other deceiving qualities slip in at times. Prone to laziness, he will use his 'handicap' as an excuse to avoid doing something he is not interested in or even call for someone to fetch an item for him. He has very little guilt for people falling for his exploitable means if he is using the wheelchair as an excuse.
Mutations
Mutation description: Jasper's mutation is that of rubber. With the ability to stretch his limbs out, he soon becomes very flexible and is able to wrap his arm around objects as if it were twine. However, with the stretching out of any limb, another body part will have loss of control. For example, if Jasper stretches his left arm out six feet and wraps it around a human being, the right arm will become useless (much like a stroke victim). The maximum any limb can stretch is a total of twelve feet. If by some means, Jasper uses both arms or legs to stretch at the same time, the opposite end would become useless. Example, if he stretches his legs out, his arms will not be able to move on his own.
Much like rubber, Jasper's body has the ability to bounce. If he is ran into, outside of his wheelchair, his body will bounce back further then a normal person. Along the same lines, if he jumps off a high altitude, his body will bounce almost the same height as that he had left. A side effect of this however is the bouncing off of a larger height will take a longer period of time to make his following “bounces” to return to a normal jump for a person.
Jasper has the ability to twist his body in directions a normal human being is unable to stretch. With the power of elasticity, he is able to convert his body into a highly malleable state at will, allowing him to stretch, deform, and reform himself into virtually any shape. Jasper can have his body twist like a wet towel being rung out or have his abdominal stretched out to be similar to a trampoline. While his body is shifting and manipulating out of normal standards, his bones become a harder rubber but cannot break. Exception to the rule: If another person take a hold of his right arm while he is using his left arm, he can be stretched out still, but he would not have control on holding onto anything with his other arm. In essence, with aid of other, he can be a human slingshot or various other things.
Strengths: Jasper's mutation makes him that of rubber and highly flexible. Due to being rubbery, it is a bit difficult to have brute strength to hurt him unless he has no room to bounce from the impact. In a sense, Jasper is his own moving airbag. However if he is punched or such, his body physically will show normal markings of being hit even if he might not feel it initially. Feeling damage for him is much like a 'hangover' effect.
Weaknesses and Limitations:Jasper has a 12 foot stretch span from the original length of his normal state. Since his is of rubber constancy, all properties of heat/cold/etc are true of his body, even in normal form. The further his body stretches out and the amount of time it is stretched out directly effects how long it takes for him to regain use of the opposite side of his body. Due to being made of rubber, he has the side effect of being able to bounce. Since his body is elastic, his facial features and such tend to show him at a younger age then he actually is.
Physical Abilities * Ability to stretch limbs up to 12ft * Ability to bounce * Ability to keep bones in tact when normal people would have them brittle or break * Ability to manipulate body shape * Ability to twist body into abnormal human qualities (See Mutation for further detail)
General Physical Capabilities: (Strength/Speed/Reflexes/Stamina/Flexibility) Highly flexible, see Mutation for further description.
His stamina is slightly higher then normal, though with excessive bouncing or over stretching, he will experience a hangover effect the next day. The stamina in no shape or form is any part of ordinary life. Like normal non-mutants, if he is awake for prolong periods of time, he gets tired. The normal everyday stresses placed onto him as a person does effect his ability to perform with his mutation. Although when he stretches out a limb, the opposite side will become useless and have little stamina until he rests completely with not using his mutant ability.
Fighting Style: (if applicable. Many characters have no formal fight training at MRO. If yours does, make sure their level of training is reflected in their history below.) A mix between offensive and defensive, using his body to bounce or ricochet off of things. Very similar to a human pinball. Moves he might attempt to make may seem similar to those in a recently played video game, however they tend to be horrid and ineffective. Fighting Style Pros/Cons: (if applicable) His fighting style sense can be unpredictable, being both a pro and a con. History Of Your Character (Please write the history of your character and explain when they discovered their power.)
Jasper Jenkins was born in Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland on January 1st, 1981. Of Scottish birth, he grew up in his hometown until the time of University, where he moved to America to attend Harvard. Graduating from the elite University, he soon landed a job working with technical support for various companies. Gaining a green card, he soon worked his way through the United States immigration until he gained the status of U.S. Citizen. Working out of the building in Manhattan, he soon became aware of his mutation as walking down the streets and riding the subway turned into human versions of Marble Madness. Using the excuse of his limbs losing function on him, he eventually shifted to a status of a handicap person and worked his way on gaining access to having an electric wheelchair to avoid conflict. The attainment of the wheelchair was a mix between the honest paperwork and using his mutation to wear out different limbs before medical examinations. Though he does not necessarily need to move about in a wheelchair, he prefers the scooting about to avoid his mutation from working against him.
Manipulating the system slightly, he was able to use his knowledge of computers and programming language to move up on the career ladder until he reached a point where he would be able to sit at a computer place and not have to worry about bouncing about. Making modifications in the actual programs that were used, Jasper was able to enhance the computer program software so it functioned at a higher quality. With his keen eye and understanding of the language, Jasper quickly became a key person in improvements within the company. His personality also had an influence in the improved status of his employment. In the safety of his home, the chair is quickly left and he enjoys life as a normal person on two legs. However there are times that tripping over his own feet in the apartment can cause a long chain events of problems.
The first time that Jasper had inclination that he was a mutant was during a rather drunken night where he act in a rather idiotic matter and believed he could jump off the roof of a garage onto the ground during a drinking match. After making the jump, he noticed his body bouncing up a bit and lied claiming he had landed on a trampoline. Since most of the other people drinking were a bit drunk, no one realized there was no trampoline. It was the next day that he had woken up with a wild hangover, he noticed the bruising on his body. Freaking out a bit, he went to seek medical attention and was diagnosed with a very bad sprain. As the day progressed, he did feel a bit of pain, but not that which would normally be associated with what he had.
Thinking he was invincible, Jasper became interested in doing other high adrenaline activities. It wasn't until an incident with extreme rope swings in the mountains of Colorado that he couldn't hide his mutation as easily. As one of the ropes for the swing snapped, Jasper's body crashed into the side of the mountain side. Bouncing off the wall, he bobbled about like a rag doll for a bit before he was knocked out unconscious from all the knocks.
Waking up in a hospital room a few days later, the doctors concluded that he was paralyzed. A bit groggy and heavily medicated, Jasper took the news as if it was true. In the quiet hours of being alone in the hospital room, he soon realized his toes and such did move along with the rest of his body. Vowing at that point to just take the safe route, he gladly took the wheelchair life as a cop out.
Working his way through his mid twenties to late twenties, he soon found that it was highly entertaining to stretch his legs out at work and trip people for cheap entertainment. Loosing functioning of his arms on a few of these occasions, it became more difficult to roll about in a wheelchair. On more then one occasion, his arms would stretch with the turning of the wheels making it hard to keep his mutation hidden. Manipulating the medical industry a bit, he was able to get upgraded to an electronic wheelchair. His manipulation was a mix of maxing out his mutation prior to medical examinations in order to make limbs useless. Even though he is perfectly capable of walking, he prefers the wheelchair when he is around other people.

The quiet hum of the chair's motor continue to purr its way through the hallway of the apartment complex. With a bit of an eager sigh, Jasper continued to push the stick forward moving at a rate that was slower then a snail. Charging up the battery might have been a good idea at work, but instead of taking the two seconds to plug his beastly machine, he wasted most of his day with the head set over his hair trying to find a new proxy server to use so he could keep playing WoW at work. Looking behind him, Jasper stretched out his right hand forward down the hall until he was able to take a hold of his doorknob. Pulling the chair along now, he soon was fishing out his key to the apartment with his recently stretched out hand. His left arm hung limp at his side, using his left foot to push the door open, he was soon stretching out his hand again to find something to drag his mostly dead machine into his safe heaven.
Extending his neck out a bit, Jasper was able to close the door behind him. With different limbs stretching about in his closed abode, he soon had the chair plugged into the wall with the fresh taste of plastic in his mouth. “Not doing that again.” With a series of curses leaving his lips, his body rested in the chair until he had control over each limb again. Lifting himself out of the chair, his feet pressed down onto the floor below him. Carefully twisting at his waist, he stretched out his legs slightly to get the blood moving again.
Walking across the room, Jasper soon was holding the phone between his shoulder and neck. “Hey girl. How was your day....uh huh....yeah.....” Shifting the phone from one ear to the other, Jasper soon rested on the end table and kicked his feet up onto the coffee table. “Long day at work.........yeah?” The phone nestled back again on his shoulder. Stretching his left hand behind him, it worked its way around the corner until it was soon yanking the door to the refrigerator open. Grabbing a can of soda, the hand soon retracted back to his side as the conversation dragged on.
“Well, if you want to relax later, do you want to....” Rolling his eyes, the phone dropped from his neck into his lap. “Sh**!” His voice rose a bit as he watched the phone roll further away from himself. “HOLD ON. I DROPPED THE PHONE.” Focusing down at his legs, he began to let the length stretch a bit till he was able to pin the phone between the arches of both feet. Flexing his way to drop the phone in his lap, his body hunched over a bit.
Cursing a bit under his breath, the voice from the phone kept saying the same thing over and over again. “Yeah, yeah. Please dial the number blah blah blah.” Things couldn't have gotten any worse as the knocking on his door started. Cursing even more, Jasper used one of his legs to pull over his old wheelchair to the couch. A jiggling of keys clanked outside his door. Thrusting his hips a bit, he knocked the phone back down onto the ground.
“You alright in there Jasper?” Banging his head into the back of the couch, it bounced back. “Just dropped the phone.” How his girlfriend got the number for his neighbor was a mystery to himself still, or more importantly why she had the key to his apartment. The overweight woman soon waddled her way across the room and picked up the phone from the ground and tossed it into his lap. “I swear I pick up after you more after you got a girlfriend then when you were single. Where is your--”
“It's on my bed.” Pausing for a moment, he couldn't recall if he had left his bedroom in a state that he deemed safe. “I'll get it, you don't have to--” Wincing a bit, he took a peak behind him, twisting his neck a whole 180 degrees. It was a bit late to stop her from going in his room. Twisting his head around, his face flushed like a young child. There were certain things that his neighbor didn't need to know.......like him still wearing video game pajamas.
