The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kenzi was starving and she needed to get a bite to eat. She wandered around the Sanctuary until she found the cafeteria. She walked up to the counter and ordered herself a sloppy joe and some fries with gravy. She wondered around and grabbed a bottle of orange juice while she waited for her food to be finished. Thanking the person behind the counter, she looked around for a place to sit.
There were mutants in groups all around, but she didn’t know anyone yet and was not about to just join a group out of nowhere. So she found a little corner table and sat alone munching on her meal. She kept her eyes peeled for any signs that someone might be interested in sitting with her. She was among her own kind so she wouldn’t hesitate to invite someone to come sit with her if they were wandering around alone like she just was.
Aura entered the the sanctuary's dining hall and looked over those assembled there. Many she knew, other's were new and still others were missing. It was the transient nature of Mutant's she had become a custom to at Sanctuary. The hours she kept often meant her eating times were random and she sometimes cooked for herself when she caught something outside. Making her order she got her food and with a quick scan of the room.
Aura Chose a courner table another Mutant she had not met was at. She enjoyed meeting new Mutant's and large group's bothered her sometimes. Making her way over, she sat down at the table. "My Name's Aura" she said as two of her fingertips became surrounded in a transparent pink Aura. The Aura moved fluidly to form the head of a fork around one finger, even as the other took on the teeth of a knife. She began cutting her steak with her self made utensils. "Have you been here long?" she asked curiously, knowing that just because she had never seen someone at sanc did not mean they did not live there. "Been here four years last November myself" she said happily.
Munching on fries and minding her business seemed to be the best point of action at this point in time. There were few friendly looking faces in the cafeteria at the moment and well Kenzi was in no mood to try and force herself on the others. It was then that a young woman sat down next to her and gave her a slight startle.
With a small smile Kenzi looked over at the woman who said her name was Aura. “I’m Kenzi, nice to meet you.” Before the words had really left her mouth, Aura’s fingers started to glow pink and form into utensils for her to eat with. Kenzi smiled as the mutant was not shy about using her powers in public. “I just got here last night on the Greyhound. So how do you like it here? Must be a decent place seeing as you have been here for four years already.” She munched a few more fries and watched the pink utensils do their work. “That’s a neat power you have there Aura.” She smiled and wondered what else she could do, but she wasn’t about to probe the mutant that could form a blade out of thin pink air.
Aura had no idea what a greyhound was but decided not to ask. She figured easily enough it was likely a form of transport. The questions were easily enough answered. "Sanctuary is a wonderful haven for our kind to live with one another, and the local area extends that as well. Sanctuary take's in all even those like me" she said with a smile. It was amazing the place was still in tact at all with all the violent mutants then ran about it, not that many fights actually happened in sanctuary.
She smiled at the comment about, her power, Kenzi had seen nothing yet. The Utensils seemed to melt and and gather around her fingers, it kept going covering her hand and then moving up her arm, then all at once, The Aura seemed to appear all around her, surrounding her skin an inch thick. Raising her right hand the aura extended out almost a foot, before it began to take a long narrow shape then soon reveled itself to be a sword like object and moment's later the sword formed an Axe. Then the aura was simply gone entirely.
"Thank you and may i ask what you do?' she asked curiously. She loved hearing about mutant powers and peoples storys. "Not to pry but i may i also ask how you ended up here? People don't tend to wind up here because fate was kind to them. Almost every one is the room has a sad story chained to their ankle. I was trained as a weapon of war" she said casualy. While she did not care what criminal record Kenzi had, she was more worried about their being a need to look out for her.
Taking a bite of her sloppy joe, she listened to Aura speak about the Sanctuary. She wasn’t sure what she meant by ‘those like her’, but she wasn’t going to ask right away. Kenzi didn’t like to pry into people’s lives because she didn’t really like people prying into her’s. She had very little trust for people, but so far this mutant seemed genuine. “Well they took me in with no questions asked. I’m not exactly a prime candidate for a role model or anything.”
Watching Aura work her powers was an amazing sight, and Kenzi couldn’t help but let her eyes go wide and the pink aura shifted and formed into a blade and axe. She was actually quite jealous of the woman’s power, her’s was lame in comparison.
And then Aura asked the fated question. Kenzi sighed and shrugged her shoulder before looking back at her meal. “I project tattoos.” She said quietly and in an almost embarrassed tone. It wasn’t anything fancy like what Aura could do, but it had come in handy a few times. Then Aura hit her with the second most dreaded question, the tale of her past. Aura had told her a small bit about her’s and it didn’t seem pleasant. Kenzi felt it was only fair to give a little back. “Most likely a sob story that’s been heard before, but my dad beat me and I killed him and my mother.” She took another bite out of her mess of a sandwich and wiped her mouth with a napkin before looking out of the corner of her eye for Aura’s reaction.
"Killed them huh? I don't recall mine but if they were human i would take them out" Aura said with a shrug, taking another bite of her meal. She had deep curiosity's like if she had used her powers to do it or if she had made them suffer. She decided not to ask however and shifted to the other topics they had mentioned.
"Project them, like illusions?" she asked quite interested in the power as she was with all Mutant's. A Mutant's power made them beautiful and without them they were merely human, animals. She knew about tattoos because of Alison. "We all have our path's in life and our powers are with us to guide us upon them. Each power is beautiful and unique, i enjoy seeing them. " she said honestly. To her it was one of the better boon's of living at Sanctuary.
"I am guilty of a great number of crimes, the most common of which is killing humans." she said easily. "I still hunt gang member some nights but my more public showing's have lessened" she admitted. It was not that she did enjoy fighting humans, it was that she had started to see the true difference in numbers the humans had. Simply killing large numbers of them, even more so large numbers who had little power did little to help anyone but it did make Aura feel better.
The raven haired woman was a little surprised that Aura seemed to have no real reaction to her parents murder, and frankly it made her smile a wide and evil grin. This woman disliked humans as much as she did and it was nice to have found someone who felt the same. “They were humans, and horrible parents, either way they deserved what they got.” She finished off her sloppy joe and got back to munching on her fries.
Aura questioned her powers more and she decided to try and explain it better. “Technically they are illusions I guess, but they are solid and three dimensional. It’s kind of hard to explain really, but they work based on my knowledge of the subject.” The thin gothic girl lifted her left arm and pointed to the dagger tattoo on the back of her forearm. “This one here I had done after spending a lot of time playing with a real dagger just like it. Because I know everything about that dagger, how strong the metal is, how flexible the blade is, how sharp it is, the weight of it, the balance, how it feels in my hand. I know it so well that when I summon this blade it’s as real as the one it was modeled after.”
She smiled as Aura spoke about how she loved seeing people’s powers and how each one was unique and beautiful. “Maybe I can show you later, I can only summon so many tattoos a day and I can’t summon one more then once a day, so if I use one now and get into a crummy situation later, I could be in real trouble.”
Kenzi couldn’t help but smile softly as Aura spoke about her killings. The Summoner truly enjoyed tormenting humans, and part of her envied how easily killing came to Aura. Sure she had killed her parents, but she had such rage for them, so killing gang members sounded good. They were a total menace to everyone, vermin, and they could be quite fun to terminate. An evil grin crossed over the pale girl’s lips and her icy blue eyes looked over at Aura. “Well now that just sounds like a good time! Maybe we should do some pest control. Gang members have lots of tattoos that I’m sure I could use to our advantage.”
