It wasn’t the same with Sam, people did have a tendency to stick out in his mind when he went to a new location but it was the scenery that really popped into his head when a place was mentioned. Sometimes it was mountains, sometimes buildings and sometimes-even trees. Romania had the mountains, Amazon had the trees, and the artic well that was just a giant expanse of snow and ice all of which flashed into his mind as he listened to Athena continued on with the conversation and the events that led her to New York.
When she mentioned she was a witch Sam took a sip of his coffee and listened with great intent as everything else around them sort of turned into background noise something that usually didn’t happen. He chalked it up to the mention if her being a witch. ”Safer in the mutant mecha of NYC huh?” Sam asked with a smirk trying to guess what her mutation was if she was a ‘true’ witch. She had yellow eyes but that might just be natural they weren’t bright yellow or anything almost like a light brown. His eye fixed on her hair for a moment, which didn’t stand out of the ordinary either hair dye, was common now.
Her body... well he got a good look before their coffee date after the gorilla debacle and he didn’t really see anything out of the ordinary either at least what he could see. Figuring he would find out eventually Sam watched to see anything of note.
Sam let out a small laugh when she’d be keeping him longer if he did become injured in her presences, ”I’d imagine you can try, I’m pretty good at disappearing if I need to.” Sam said with a smirk sipping his coffee again, ”Though if you’re the one keeping me I don’t see how that would be a good thing.”
Sam let his last comment sit for a moment before he added, ”Would you cast a spell on me of some sort?” Sam asked taking another sip off his coffee again, ”Not the first time I had a run in with a witch, shaman, or necromancer or medicine woman. Sedna is actually a good friend of mine.”

Ignoring the point regarding Sam being hard to pin down for treatment, Athena laughed.
"I put spell on you, and now you're mine." she sang playfully with a smirk.
Really she couldn't help herself. She drained a bit more from her coffee mug. If she really were a witch then it would be so much easier be courageous. Turning people into frogs if they disobeyed her or a little lightning for a would be mugger. Though being able to transform in a very large owl had perks. Flight alone was worth it to Athena.
"To be fair, witch was their term for anyone with abilities that seemed unnatural. I'm no Morgan Le Fay. Though I could probably pull off the outfit. So to answer your earlier question, yes. Safer in New York than the middle of nowhere where treatment for anything beyond the simplest of injuries is tricky."
Athena winced momentarily at the memory. The flight to New York had been uncomfortable. Now she was hardly shy about her mutation or body for that matter. However Sam would just have to wait for a demonstration of her mutation. Changing into an owl in the middle of the cafe would probably have poor consequences. She could just tell him but where was the fun in that?
While she contemplated that the disturbance at the register got a little louder. That in turn flustered one of the waitresses. Said waitress wasn't looking where she was going as a result. Hot coffee and a slice of peach pie spilled onto the table between them. Athena slid her chair away from the table as the nervous waitress apologized profusely while mopping up the spill with a towel.

Sam smirked, ”Never been called a witch or anything similar to that.” Sam said taking a sip of his coffee before putting the mug down and talking a little with his hands at least more than before. ”Though there is a tribe of Inuit’s that call me a god. Though I think that is only because they are surrounded by snow and ice and well…” Sam shrugged his shoulders, ”Kind of my thing.” Sam let out a small laugh, ”Great for an ego boost though.”
When she mentioned dressing like Morgan Le Fey the ice-mancer did his bet not to look down towards her body though his eye might have wandered for a second before he realized what he was doing. ”Some places are too backwards for their own goo-“ Black liquid and what looked like a pie flew across his field of vision and landed on the table in front of him and a few drops on his hand and before he realized it his chair flew back a few inches as he jumped up. Now standing Sam looked from the table to Athena then to the apologizing waitress.
”Errr… Sorry!” Sam said rubbing the back of his head with a smile on his face, it was a little overreaction but then again those reactions were what had kept him alive for so long and it was only then he started to notice everything around him. It was clear Athena was a good distraction. Ice started to form on his hand where the few drops of coffee had spilt.
Grabbing the chair he was sitting in a few seconds ago Sam slowly pushed it back in and waved his hands to the waitress who was apologizing, ”It happens.” Sam looked to Athena and gave a small shrug before he sat back down his head slightly turned to the register where someone was getting a little loud, ”Think he got the wrong order?” Sam asked the Athena and the waitress jokingly.
