The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

After a long day of work, Sarah was hoping to skip out on making dinner. While her relationship with Nate had been going well enough, her days at the restaurant and his own job weren't helping them find free time. So instead of spending the night in, she was hoping to find a good place to have a meal. Still in her work clothes, she walked around waiting for some place to stand out.
She had found a small place that looked decent enough for what she wanted. It looked like it would at least produce a good enough burger. Stepping into the diner, she sat down at the bar and ordered a plain cheeseburger and a diet coke. While she waited for her food, she took off her work shoes, some black wedges, and looked around at the people in the diner.
Today was a work night, no not work day, work night. While Emerald didn't always work at night, tonight was an exception, she was getting called in to make sure nothing happened to the dinner. The place had been getting a considerable amount of flak since the Riots started. It was good that they called her, because if someone did come in looking for some kind of trouble, she would be there to put a stop to that crap real quickly.
The she-wolf stepped into the dinner with her sneakers, a ratty t shirt and a pair of jeans, all of them looking quite worn, but considering what she was doing tonight she wasn’t exactly worried. Her clothes had been ripped while she was fighting before so if she wore any of her good clothes and those got ripped, she wouldn't have any good clothes to wear anymore. After all, she didn't own that many pairs of “good clothes” anyways, it would be a shame if she lost them. The last thing she wanted was to go out shopping again, too many people tended to stare at her, made her want to punch things.
Emerald slid up to the bar, hopping onto one of the stools with practiced ease. The wolf woman had been to this place so many times, she could practically navigate this place with her eyes closed. It was great for her job, but it did make her worry if she needed to start going to different places other than Moe’s Dinner.
The werewolf glanced around, scoping out the place she was going to be at for the next several hours. There was virtually no one here other than herself and another girl who didn't look like she was going to cause any trouble. Maybe tonight would have been a nice night, nice and calm for once.
“Yo,” Emerald greeted her other dining room compatriot, deciding not to be completely silent this whole time and try to be nice.
There wasn't much happening in the diner, but Sarah was actually happy for that. A little quiet would be a nice treat with everything going on in the outside world. She could only hope that the riots ended soon. With a sigh, she turned back to the counter as someone sat down near her.
>>"Yo."
The brunette turned slightly to see who had acknowledged her. When she saw the red haired woman she smiled. "Hey," she returned. "This place always so quiet?" She wasn't sure if the woman was a regular, but it seemed like a good conversation started. Besides if Moe's was usually a quiet place to be, Sarah might stop by more often.
The young woman that addressed her seemed nice, which was good because every once and a while, there were some people that came in here that were less than pleasant.
It wasn't just some of the humans or mutants debate, oh no there were sometimes even political debates that went on in this place and she would always have to interfere. At least tonight seemed like a quite one, which meant a boring night of course but maybe it wouldn't be too boring if she had someone to talk to other than the surly Moe.
"Sometimes, it honestly just depends on the night or when the stars align correctly, something like that," Emerald remarked, tail lightly wagging back and forth. "Most of the regulars are probably out getting themselves worked up about all that crap going on right now. While I'm not one to talk, acting like a bunch of fools won't change the situation that happened."
Emerald seemed a little exasperated at that last compliment, she knew that it was probably true. The people here were very opinionated most of the time so if they were anywhere tonight, they were probably out "protesting".

Sarah tried to keep her eyes on the red head instead of the tail that was moving around. She failed for a few moments when she caught sight of the appendage. It was harder than she thought to keep her eyes from going towards the black tail.
"Happy I picked a good night to stop by. Some quiet is always nice. Though it probably won't last too long. They'll get hungry eventually," she commented. She had her own share of watching people get surly while working. "Seems like everyone is getting a little outta hand with it. Then again, that's the nature of things. I personally wish the cops had been punished, but I'm just one person."
She saw the several news broadcasts about the attack run through her head. Gina had been a sweet girl, even though their meeting wasn't the nicest of occasions. She absently rubbed the spot on her shoulder where she had been shot that night.
"Gina doesn't deserve any cruelty. No one does," she whispered softly. The whole thing was wearing on Sarah.
The young werewolf caught sight of the girl's eyes zeroing in on that wagging tail and would roll her eyes half heatedly. This was a normal reaction the wolven tail so she wasn't exactly shocked by it, especially since this girl just had a sort of human scent. Not that she really minded, as long as those eyes didn't linger on her tail too long Emerald didn't really give a damn.
It seemed that the young woman had a few opinions about what happened and Emerald listened, not saying anything for a little while. Emerald's blue eyes became trained on the wall in order to keep her calm about it. This whole situation, the only thing she was angry about was the fact that Gina got hurt and the people who did it weren't punished for it.
She wouldn't take it out on everyone else though, the beast inside already did quite enough damage the last time she got angry about it. No one died sure, but that didn't mean this didn't cause problems between both factions. Emerald's ear twitched a little when Sarah talked quitely about Gina, actually hearing what she said. That was the whole thing about having enhanced senses, not a lot gets passed you if you were close enough.
"Hopefully, they won't come for a while, the last thing we need is them talking about Gina as if she's some sort of symbol, for their stupid"Emerald growled out, a slight bit of irritation tinging her voice. The she-wolf took in a deep breath, keeping herself as clam as humanely possible. "I dunno about this damn city sometimes, more bad stuff happens here to good people than it should and it's getting hard and harder to protect innocent people from being hurt. Seems like even those willing to protect others are turning a blind eye to crap like this
The way the wolf woman spoke was that of a weary warrior, someone who had seen far too many battles in her lifetime and not enough victories. Part of her had hope for tomorrow, but it was getting harder and harder to live in a city where there was so much corruption, especially among those meant to protect others. If that trial was to be concerned, the amount of protectors in this town was going down and the amount of takers were going up.
>>"I dunno about this damn city sometimes, more bad stuff happens here to good people than it should and it's getting hard and harder to protect innocent people from being hurt. Seems like even those willing to protect others are turning a blind eye to crap like this."
The brunette listened to the other woman talk about the city and the on-goings as of late. Sarah hadn't been in the city for too long, almost a year, but she did notice the differences between her hometown and New York City. The "mutant problem" seemed a big deal in the area.
There were times, like now, that she wished to go home and not deal with it. Seattle had never seemed to be this bad about mutants. In fact, she could remember several of her classmates openly saying they had abilities unlike a normal human. She even had family who had never been bothered about their differences.
New York had enough problems as it was. It didn't need anything else, like these protests were bringing. Too many innocents were being harmed and there was nothing Sarah could do to help. Sometimes, she wished there was something she could do.
"How about a different topic, hm?" she offered. She really didn't want to talk about such depressing things. Especially since she couldn't help out.
Maybe it was best that the topic got changed, that way she would be able to think of something else besides mauling people. This had been quite a rough week, so she wasn't really able to think straight in the situation she was in at the moment. The werewolf wished that she could just let everything go at times, but with her temperament this didn't seem possible. Emerald let out a low sigh trying her best to relax through this whole thing.
“Alright then what do you want to talk about?” Emerald asked simply, never really being one that brought up conversational pieces very well. “The weather I guess has been nice, if you want to talk about that. Or if you want to bring up the whole, fact I look like an amazon thing, I’m willing to talk about that too if you want.”
The best thing Emerald could really do in this situation was to talk about what she knew. This didn't mean she sounded any less awkward doing it however. This was once again once of those times that Emerald wished she lived among wolves instead of humans, at least then the conversations would be straight and to the point.
>>“Alright then what do you want to talk about? The weather I guess has been nice, if you want to talk about that. Or if you want to bring up the whole, fact I look like an amazon thing, I’m willing to talk about that too if you want.”
Sarah laughed. She wasn't sure if it was the other woman's words or the crappy day she had been having. Whatever the reason, loud bubbles of laughter flew from the brunette's lips.
"I'm sorry," she giggled. "I'm so sorry." The words continued to burst out as she tried to calm her laughter. It took several minutes before even the giggles were mostly gone. "Sorry, it's been a long day. I probably needed that laugh."
