Mariusz was on the verge of asking Kealey a few questions about what it was like to live in New York and what the situation there and in the rest of the United States was like for mutants when Chloe began to talk about her own experiences. The Czech man turned his attention and focus to her as she spoke and remained silent since he thought it would have been rude to interrupt her while she was speaking about her past.
"I am glad to hear that you have found some place where you can belong. I understand that not everyone can have the kind of background that I had growing up," Mariusz said, neglecting to mention much about his own history. Having grown up in as privileged an environment as he had, especially when compared to what Chloe had obviously endured he sensed it would not be appropriate to discuss his own background unless he was specifically asked. Still, he also had to wonder just how much of what had happened to Chloe was the result of being a mutant versus simply the hand she had been dealt by life. Some people were born into privilege, others were born into something considerably less.
"What is the living situation like for mutants here in New York," he asked, turning his focus back to both women and addressing the question to both of them. "And what is it like for mutants in the rest of the United States? Are there any mutant leaders that members of the mutant community look up to, either here in New York city or elsewhere in America?"
