The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Chika walked along the grass of one of the parks near her home, hunched over, hands shoved in the pockets of her brown jacket. The wind blew from behind and made her shiver. Her black hair blew forward onto her cheeks, and once again she was kind of glad she had short hair.
However, that didn't kill the mood she was in. She had screwed up the routine at cheerleading practice three different times because she was thinking about a pop quiz she had pretty much blown in history class, not exactly her favorite subject. She let out a sigh and tilted her head back, looking up at the clouds. She pointed to the sky and started to manipulate the clouds to spell out the word "LOSER". When she was done, she let out another sigh and closed her brown eyes, just standing there in the wind.

Butterfly was walking around the park just to kill some time one day. She didn't really have anything to do right then and it had been a while since she was at the park. She liked just being able to admire nature sometimes. Even though she was pretty much covered, the wind blowing by was still sort of cold. She kind of tensed up for a moment as the wind blew. She started to walk again, but the wind blew her long, black hair into her face. She was fighting to see through it and trying to keep it pulled back. She stumbled forward and bumped into something or someone. She couldn't tell for all of her hair in her face. Butterfly quickly slung the side of her head so that her hair was out of her face and she grabbed it and pulled it over to the side, holding it in place with her hand.
Chika's eyes snapped open as she stumbled a little as something hit her from behind. She straightened up and turned. "Oh, it's all right. I was the one who was just standing here." She smiled. But it didn't reach her eyes. She was still thinking about how badly she had screwed up today and had forgotten that the sky currently had clouds that spelled out that she was a loser. Suddenly her eyes grew wide, and she waved her hand, dispersing the clouds, then ran it through her hair. "At least it's a nice day," she said conversationally.

Butterfly smiled and managed to look up at the clouds as they spelled out loser, before they all of a sudden dispersed. She kinda watched the girl, thinking that she was a mutant as well and that she was the one who had dispersed the clouds. As she watched the girl, she could tell that something was bothering her and trying to cover it up. It was so evident in her body language.
Butterfly replied back to the nice day comment with, "Yeah, it is a nice day. And you're not a loser. I saw the clouds. What's wrong? By the way, my name's Butterfly."
Chika blushed. She hadn't meant to wave hand, but it was habitual. "I, uh, well..yeah." She sort of hung her head. "I totally blew a pop quiz today in history class and then screwed up at cheerleading practice. Three times. Uuugh. I guess I'm just feeling down. And I feel like a complete loser." She let out a sigh. She smiled, though, at the girl's introduction of herself. "It's nice to meet you, Butterfly. I'm Chika. Is that just a nickname, or is that your real name? I know some people will give their children interesting names."

Butterfly listened as she explained her reasoning for the loser clouds. "It's okay. I'm sure you'll have other grades to counter that pop quiz and well, for cheerleading, you'll get it right. That's why they call it practice." she said with a smile.
When she asked about her name, Butterfly replied with "Nah, that's a nickname that my brother gave me and have been going by since. My real name is Chloe. Chika is an interesting name though."
"I guess you're right. My grades in that class are usually good. And I guess you're right about cheerleading. I just like to get it right the first time, ya know?" She grinned awkwardly when Butterfly brought up her name. "My mom was trying to find something that sounded Japanese, since my father is Japanese, and I look so much like him."

Butterfly smiled. She knew what it was like to be in high school and want to do well. Where she came from all the cheerleaders she knew were snobby and slutty, but Chika seemed different. "Yeah, I gotcha. I'm sure you'll be fine. Chloe to me sounds so air heady. I mean its okay, but it just seems like that would be someone's name that isn't exactly intelligent, if ya know what I mean. But I guess I shouldn't be stereotyping just based on names. This is why I'm going by Butterfly now. Its so pretty and it fits me better considering that's part of my powers. I can turn into a butterfly and my blood is kinda poisonous. My brother found that out the hard way. So can you do more that manipulate clouds?" she asked.
"You can turn into a butterfly? That's amazing!" Chika grinned. She had to admit, it was a very awesome power. Though the part about the poisonous blood was a bit odd. She stopped and backed up a little when she realized she had completely ignored most of what Butterfly had said. "Sorry," she added. "What I mean is...I don't think Chloe sounds air heady. But then again, I try not to judge people based on their names." She gave a half-smile. "Yeah, I can make it rain. Not as cool as turning into a butterfly or having poisonous blood, but useful for getting out of cheerleading practice sometimes."

Butterfly smiled at her enthusiasm about her power and chuckled slightly. "It's okay. It helps if you need to get away fast, but I haven't exactly been able to figure everything out just yet. Though, I think your powers are pretty cool. You never know. Your powers could be more useful than what you think later on. It just seems kinda lame cuz you're still in high school."
"So what are ya doing in the park? Have you always lived in New York?" she asked as she started to walk around again.
"Well, I guess," Chika replied. "Still not as cool as turning into a butterfly. I mean, flying at least has to be cool."
She kind of shrugged at Butterfly's question, following the girl around. "I was just hanging out in the park. And technically I was born in Georgia, but when I was three, my family moved to New York. What about you? What are you doing in the park? And are you a native New Yorker?"

Butterfly laughed as Chicka said that flying had to be cool. "Actually when I younger, I never seemed to notice when I shifted and I would usually go to sleep after I got back to my house and would wake up and think it was just a dream."
She walked around the park a little more and then over to the entrance of the park to leave. "I just like being able to walk around in an open space. It's kinda nice and it's relaxing. I come out here every now and then. I'm from Georgia. I grew up in Macon, but came here when I woke up to somebody robbing my apartment after my mom left me. All she left me was a note and the necklace I'm wearing. Though it's not like I was really close to her anyways, she never had time for me. And I never knew my dad. So I was always alone. Want me to walk with you home or are you okay going by yourself?"
"Oh." She sort of laughed at the idea. "Well, it's gotta be fun now, right?"
Chika followed her, hands behind her back. "It is nice to be able to just relax a little bit. Get away from the world." She chewed on her lip. "I'm sorry about what happened to you, though." She looked at the ground. She ran a hand through her hair, still feeling sorry for the poor woman next to her. "I'm ok by myself, but if you want to walk with me, I don't mind." She looked up and smiled.

"Yeah, it is. After I realize I've changed." she said with a laugh. She nodded her head in agreement. When Chicka began to apologize, Butterfly said "No, its okay. I like it better up here anyway. At least up here I have a brother now and he cares about me." and smiled, trying to cheer her up as well. "I'll walk with you. Maybe I'll get to see more of New York. I need to be able to learn how to get around here anyway. The city is so big and there's so much to see. Besides, someone has to protect you in case of danger." she said with a teasing laugh.
"Man, I wish I could fly," she said wistfully. She looked at Butterfly and smiled back, feeling a little more cheerful. "Okay," she said. "Maybe I can show you some great parts of the city. But I don't need protecting." She crossed her arms and stuck out her tongue with a smile. "I can take care of myself. After all, I can make it rain."
