The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The ointment was cool on Rebecca's skin in a much better way than the table. It was soothing and made the placement of the bandage less of a problem. Before she knew it, her leg was well and taken care of, all thanks to the nice tiger lady. "Thank you. You're verra sweet!" Even after Rebecca was rude, Regan was still considerate enough to fix her up, and that was a kind-hearted thing to do.
Rebecca got to her feet, carefully pulling her jeans up past the bandage, almost oblivious to Regan's awkwardness. "Yeah, she's something special. She has buggy wings! Well, most of the time."
Looking at Regan, she was unique too, and not just in the "looking like a cat" way. Regan's stripes, when looked at more closely, were a deep green rather than black. She truly looked like she belonged among the plants. "And you're cool too. Um, weird question?"
She hoped Regan would not take offense to the request, but Rebecca was curious as a cat-loving girl herself. "Could Ah, er, maybe feel your fur? Ah mean if that's okay?" She would offer to let Regan feel her skin in return, but she was far less special, so it would not mean that much.
Regan smiled to herself as Rebecca said she was very sweet. She was just doing what was right. What needed to be done to protect Rebecca from getting a nasty infection, but she accepted the compliment greatly. “Thanks, I hope it will heal quickly.” Regan healed fast so she never had to really worry about infections, but she knew others needed the first aid so she always kept her kit filled and at the ready.
Feline ears flicked backwards as she heard Rebecca pull up her pants and get herself back in order while talking about her girlfriend. Regan giggled at her comment about the wings. “Well that’s a unique mutation, I bet it can come in handy. I’m glad you have someone special Rebecca.” She said as turned to face her with a soft smile. Part of her heart panged with a hint of jealousy, not because she wanted Rebecca’s girlfriend, but because Rebecca had someone to love and to love her in return. Regan felt like that was something she would never have in her life because of how she looked, and it hurt.
Rebecca brought another smile to Regan’s feline features as she said that she thought Regan was cool too. No one had ever called Regan cool before but she accepted the compliment anyways. Rebecca then wanted to ask a question that she thought might be odd and Regan couldn’t help but tilt her head to the side in curiosity. Rebecca wanted to touch her fur.
Regan nodded and held out her arm to Rebecca. “Go for it, I don’t think it’s anything special, but the few who have touched it have said I’m very soft.” She smiled a half smile and held up her clawed and furry hand to reveal the palms of her hands to Rebecca. Her palms were shaped like a human’s but they had pads on the palm and along the fingers instead of human skin. “I can’t really tell all that well with hands like this.” The disappointment was clear in her eyes but she tried to play it off as if it didn’t bother her.

Regan was very kind, both in her support of Rebecca's relationship and her cooperation in Rebecca's silly request. With seemingly no hesitation, the tigress extended her arm out for the younger woman. Attention was drawn to the pads on Regan's hands and Rebecca pouted; they did not look like they would be very sensitive to touch. Poor thing.
Rebecca's hands gently touched Regan's forearm and, just as predicted, the white and green fur was very soft to the touch. Smiling, she leaned in to press her cheek against the fur. "My, sae soft. You'd be, like, the best cuddler ever." Rebecca was not going to compare her to a teddy bear out loud, but the parallel existed.
Pulling away to finally give Regan back some personal space, the girl grinned. "You'll definitely find someain right for you. What nice mutant wouldnae want someone like you tae curl up with?" she teased lightly. The image of Regan as a kitten curled up on someone's lap was stuck in her head, and it was all she could do not to giggle.
Regan watched as Rebecca stroked the fur on her forearm and then leaned in to rub her cheek against her soft fur. She smiled as this simple gesture made Rebecca happy and well, Regan liked to make people happy as much as possible. It made her feel just a little more human and a little less monster.
Rebecca complimented her once again and a fanged grin crossed over her maw. The thoughts of the nights that she had spent curled up against her “Father”, petting her soft fur as she fell asleep every night. She let out a soft sigh and longed for those days again, but they would never be again, her “Father” was gone. “Thanks Rebecca, it’s been a while since I had someone to cuddle with, but good to know that I’d be the best at it if I get the chance.”
Rebecca sure was a sweet girl. She gave Regan’s heart a little pang of hope that maybe, just maybe someone could love her. But then the thought of her fangs slicing someone’s lip in a kiss crossed her mind. She would never be able to go on a normal date either, who would want to be with someone who just wanted to stay home and hidden from the world? “Awww thanks Rebecca, you are too kind. That is something I just don’t think is in my foreseeable future. I’m not exactly the dateable type after all.” She shrugged her shoulders and looked down to the floor.

Rebecca pouted at Regan's defeatism. Life as a physical mutant was clearly a tough life she could not relate to completely, and even Agnes was not as physically mutated as some people were, but that did not mean that a physical mutant should feel unlovable! Heck, if Rebecca learned one thing in life, it was that there was someone for everyone.
In retaliation, Rebecca shook her head almost aggressively. "That's silly! You're soft and pretty and nice and stuff. Ah know a lizard boy who got a date. If he can dae it, Ah'm sure you can too."
Finding it the appropriate thing to do, Rebecca wrapped her arms around Regan for a hug. "Sae no more saying daft things, kay?"
Regan blinked in pure surprise as Rebecca shook her head rather forcefully at Regan’s comment and made sure to point out what she saw in Regan. She gave Rebecca a half smile and shrugged again as she scuffed her boot on the floor of the green house a few times. “I’m nothing special Rebecca. Besides I doubt anyone would even be interested in me, even the lizard boy.” She gave a half chuckle and tried to make light of her situation. Some days that was the only way she managed getting through the day as the children of the mansion would avoid her out of fear, or make fun of her when her back was turned. They may not know it, but she could still hear their whispers clearly, the joys of feline hearing.
Without much notice Rebecca wrapped her arms around Regan and gave her a warm hug. She sighed and gently hugged Rebecca back, patting her back softly. Rebecca then gave her a polite scolding to not talk like that, and she smiled slightly. She appreciated the effort a lot, but that was just the way that Regan coped with things. Getting her hopes up usually ended up in her getting hurt, it was easier just to give up that hope and be mildly content with her life then to get excited about a prospect that just didn’t seem possible in her mind. “I’ll try not to talk like that anymore, but I can’t promise that I won’t slip up sometimes.”
