The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Tiny snow flakes fell silently from heaven while the sun faded slowly behind the New York skyline. Shuffling through the sea of people, a hooded figure came to rest just across the street from where the great golden doors had once stood.
The doors were now laying out front, thrown unceremonially ontop of each other. Although dented, scorched, and cracked, they still held their amazing beauty. A massive pile of rubble was also piled out front with what remained of the foyer of the Sancuary. Mutilated benches and chairs, half a desk, and large chucks of marble floor laid piled with twisted hunks of steel and iron from detroyed bots. While the sun disappeared from view, a clean-up crew began to depart as they headed for home.
The figure drifted back into a shadowy alleyway as it continued to stare at the once fabulous building. A light in the alley blinked on and enveloped the figure, chasing away the darkness. The figure stood transfixed by the site.
Slowly, a smile crept across the figure's face as the sun's final rays deministed, the darkness took over. A sudden movement by the hooded being caused the light to shatter and in a second the figure was gone. Garth stepped out from one of the black corners of the foyer to the Sanctuary. He was amazed at the destruction. Hundreds of bullet holes had puntured the walls and floors. The granite floor was carved to pieces by unseen razors. The other half of the front desk remained in the back. 'Jumping' again, this time towards the back, Garth made his way back to the desk. Opening up one of the three remaining drawers, Garth emptied the contents onto the top of the desk. Shuffling through the contents, the unseen eyes alighted upon one of the items.
It was a business card of some kind. The golden doors were imprinted on the front with two numbers under them. Garth slid his phone out of his pocket and dialed the first number. It rang only once before the operator came on and told that the number he was dialing was no longer avaliable. That was probably the number for the charred desk phone laying next to him. Dialing the second, Garth waited as it rang.
Garth grinned slightly with the relief that the number still worked. Leaning against the half-desk, he spoke into the phone with a rather dusky voice.
"Yes, I found that your office is undergoing a...um, remodeling job, and I was wondering if you could tell me if you were available some other place in town." Being a little spectical about the number, Garth wanted to make sure it wasn't a trap.
"I was hoping to become a member of your club. I have some special qualities that I believe will benefit the organization."
The female listened to the phone conversation and replied. "I can only imagine what they're doing there. I hope they aren't putting in anything that doesn't belong like pastel colored wall paper or something." The female giggled softly.
"I am available still. You can meet me at the coffee shop near central park called Insomniacs Anonymous. I'll be standing outside by the front door, but how will I know who you are?"
"I'll be the one without a face." Garth replied then snapped the phone shut and placed it back into his pocket. After shreading the remaining cards, Garth moved into a shadow and vanished.
Several mintues later, the hooded figure stepped from the shadows of the park and became visible underneath the light from the street lamps. Spotting the bright neon glow from the coffeeshop's sign, Garth made his way across the street. As he approached the store, Garth could see an attractive female standing outside of the door arguing a rather persistent human. Smiling to himself, he approached the group.
(if you want to leave that last part out, it is fine. I was think that I might demonstrate my talents on that guy.)
((OOC: There will be time for you to show your abilities but for now There's no one outside but the woman.))
The feminine figure was slender and rather pretty. Her blonde hair layed across her shoulders and draped down her back to her shoulder blades. A curious look washed over her face as the stranger approached.
"Yes I'm the one on the other end of the conversation. My name is Lisa. I'm the receptionist for Sanctuary. The reason for the remodeling is due to a massive attack. May I ask what your interest is with Sanctuary?"
Lisa laughed at the man's last statement. "Those aren't my views. Those are the views of the order members. More specifically the point of view from Syn. She's the leader of the group and very powerful." Again Lisa looked Garth over. "So what is it you can do?"
"That's very interesting and I'm sure very useful." The woman smiled at Garth. She was sure Syn could use someone like that on the team. "So what is it you wish Garth?"
"You might say that. From what I've witnessed Syn usually doesn't accept just anyone into her elite group without them showing reason to be there. I'm sure at this point in time she would like peopel on the outside to gather information and to do whatever they can to aid her efforts. I don't have any kind of specific list of things that need to be done, but anything that you can do without being caught would probably earn you favor in her eyes. I do, however, have the numbers to a couple girsl named Teresa and Aisling or Ash. Syn currently has them gathering intel and making contacts. Perhaps you could team up with them."
