The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> “I recognize it slightly, and from your words earlier, Russian, correct?”
"Yes." Sveta nodded. She wasn't surprised at all that he had recognized her accent. A lot of Americans did. All the villains in their movies seemed to speak Russian.
>>“The reason I made that assumption, Ma’am, is I am a mutant, and I have heard rumors that there are people who can turn people’s powers off, and others who can make them much stronger in their ability. When I accidently bumped you… my ability was enhanced… I’m fortunate to have control over my ability, but I can certainly understand your predicament about not wanting to accidently bump the wrong person, if I am indeed correct in my thoughts that you are the latter variety. I don’t want anything other than to understand better.”
So he was a mutant. And he knew about her power: People like her? Could there be more of them around?... Sveta seriously hoped not.
"I don't do dat." she said, shaking her head slowly "It's too dangerous to experiment with other mutants. Things can go wrong. I am sure your ability is safe, but mine is too strong and sometimes people think they can control something... and they don't. I'm sorry, but no."

Jacob nodded slightly as he was confirmed in his suspicions of her origin, and gave her the respect for not trying to hide it or any other adverse reaction. She then went to explain that she was in no way, shape, or form going to experiment with Jacob and his ability being enhanced, and the Army Veteran saw something in her eyes… the same haunted feeling of someone feeling responsible for loss of life. He wouldn’t bring it up, as those were the types of things that you didn’t ask about, and were only talked about if the person who it happened to was willing to open up.
He raised his hands in surrender. “I’m sorry, Ma’am… you misunderstand. I have no intent of trying to amp myself up any further… I’ve long since learned how the lure of power can lead to chaos and destruction… I simply want to understand it better, if that makes sense. I’m guessing by the way you are dressed, weather aside, it’s only from skin contact. Does it work with non-mutants?” A simple question, but once he got a response, he considered another aspect of it, and wanted to address it as well. “It must be very hard on you… never being able to be close to someone. How do you manage to take care of people at a Clinic?”

The guy was... thinking too much. Sveta did not trust him. He was right about most of what he said, and she relaxed a little when he said he did not want to use her powers. Some people did nnot realize how dangerous it could be to amp up mutations without amping up the ability to control them.

That almost made me smirk. Another fair assumption, but false, this time. She didn't say anything, though. It was between her and Jude, and no one else.
"I don't" she said shortly "I just live dere. I teach Russian sometimes. And do paperwork. I don't deal wid patients unless a healer needs my help."
They had been short on healers lately, though.

Jacob realized he was still being too aggressive, and tried to slow his approach to the woman, in an attempt to make things more comfortable. He listened to her speak, and nodded in agreement. When she mentioned ‘healers’ however, it made him ponder that for a moment. “Healers? Is it a clinic with someone with the ability to heal?” He had said this one with much less tone in his voice that yelled ‘curious’ and much more ‘subtlety’… hopefully that helped. Jacob pondered things for a moment, and instead of asking more questions, perhaps it was his turn to offer some information.
“My ability is to control mechanical things… I can sense them, repair them, and control them with it. If your clinic ever needs someone who can fix a machine, I’m more than willing to help someone who is trying to save lives and heal the injured.” With that, he reached into his jacket and fished out his business card. Nothing fancy, just his name and some information about his shop on it, and presented it to the young woman in the hopes that she would consider his offer, and perhaps take him up on his offer should the needs arise.
>> “Healers? Is it a clinic with someone with the ability to heal?”
Sveta blinked at the man. Surely he should have expected a city like New York to have mutant healers. Healing powers belonged among a precious few, but they were ever present, and if you could find them anywhere, you could certainly find them in places where so many mutants, good and bad, flocked together.
"Yes, we have healers."
>>“My ability is to control mechanical things… I can sense them, repair them, and control them with it. If your clinic ever needs someone who can fix a machine, I’m more than willing to help someone who is trying to save lives and heal the injured."
"Thank you" Sveta nodded again. She still needed time, and needed to know more about the guy, before she could trust him. But he sounded less threatening than he did a few minutes before. Also, his powers sounded very useful. Maybe Jude could copy them and they could fix up the clinic?...
"So... what do you do, in New York?"

Jacob listened to the very simple words uttered, that they definitely had healers within their walls, and made a mental note of his current location. He knew too many people in his connections that could use help like theirs… one in particular coming to mind. A friend of his was a judge, but his son had some kind of odd cough that had been leaving him bedridden for weeks at a time, and every time it started to get better, it quickly returned and hit him again. Perhaps this clinic could be the salvation that he needed.
Jacob almost missed the question put back at him, and he did notice that she was a little more open than before, her shoulders slightly more relaxed and her muscles less tense like a rabbit ready to sprint. Jacob smiled a little bit, reached into his jacket, and pulled out his business card. “I own a mechanics shop and junkyard outside of town. If it’s mechanical, I can probably fix it.” It was a simple enough explanation, but he felt like he should add more. He stopped himself though, knowing that it might or might not be likely that she could still be socially ‘skittish’.
