The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Amber had been known herself to struggle with the question of how far was too far when it came to confrontations with others. As a natural predator, such questions were moot; completely irrelevant in the struggle to continue living. It was a simple matter of you killed and ate when you were hungry and did your best to avoid being killed and eaten yourself. Human struggles were so much more complicated than that.
"Sometimes you just need to trust your instincts." It was, perhaps, ironic coming from one such as she who had so little instincts to speak of. "Sometimes you can do more damage by thinking about something too much than by simply acting." At least, that sounded good.
"Maybe you should try some controlled experiments," Amber suggested. "I know I only began to control my powers when I started trying to deliberately use them. When you're afraid or anxious it can cause things to go a little haywire."

Ty nodded, relaxing more on the couch as he thought over this. "Yeah...that makes sense. But that means I'll probably need to find a bunch of stuff I can try to use my powers on. But..." he mused, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
"I'll have to do it in moderation because of the headaches, and I'll probably need different kinds of objects. Maybe think of different ways to use my powers. You know, besides just idly viewing a past. Maybe look for useful information or something." The young man shrugged lightly. "Any ideas?"
Amber considered Ty's dilemma. It wasn't the sort of problem she had when learning about her own power; to discover the unwanted secrets of others seemed like it could be a violation of trust and she was fairly certain that wouldn't make the situation any better for him. Dinosaurs might be potentially dangerous but unless she felt like eaves dropping, they weren't likely to divine things they weren't supposed to know.
"What if you got new objects? If you went and bought, a statue or something. You could give it to someone to hold onto and experience some things and then practice on that." Amber shrugged, not exactly certain if her suggestion had any real merit or not. His power was so different from hers she hardly knew where to begin.

Ty's face brightened, as if what Amber said had enlightened him. "That's it! The older the object, the worse the headache. If I go out and get a bunch of simple stuff like...Iunno marbles or something, I could use those for training. Then maybe get something else, and use those to focus not activating my powers on."
He stood to his feet, quite happy at what they came up with. Then he looked at her. "Although something tells me this is going to look alot easier on paper than when I actually try to go through with it. Heh...like that time I tried to jack that ATM machine...." He shuddered; sometimes the memories from the things he'd acquired still haunted him.
Amber grinned back at Ty, pleased she had been able to suggest something that might just help him out. "Small steps one at a time, right? That's the key to learning to master just about any skill." There hadn't been much of a way to learn her own powers in small steps but that didn't mean it wasn't possible for others.
"Although something tells me this is going to look alot easier on paper than when I actually try to go through with it. Heh...like that time I tried to jack that ATM machine...."
At those words, Amber could only stare in confusion, although she managed to catch herself before it became too rude. "You tried to jack an ATM machine?" Not that she could judge; after all, she had been involved in the blowing up of poor Kai's flower shop all those months ago. Even if the blowing up itself hadn't been directly her fault...
"Its rarely easy, but in the end don't you think a little challenge is worth the end result?"

Ty chuckled, shaking his head. "I'd met this girl named Aura, and discussing our powers, she had this crazy idea. I thought it'd be easy. Swipe a wallet from someone who used the ATM, touch his glasses, get his PIN. Turned out my target was a piece of dirt. And those glasses saw everything he'd done..." He shuddered visibly, losing the smile.
Somehow Amber could not be surprised that the one to instigate such a plot was Aura. While she loved her sister dearly and would defend her to the death, if it ever came to that, she did have to sometimes question how she went about certain things. The killing, for one. Not that she had a problem with killing at its core, but sometimes Aura seemed to kill just for the thrill of it or perhaps just because that's what was ingrained within her and that, sometimes, Amber did have a problem with.
"Aura is actually my sister. Sometimes she doesn't quite understand the risks she puts others into incoming up with some of her plans. I'm sorry things turned out so badly." At least he hadn't touched anything of Aura's. If some creep's card had been traumatizing to see, a flash of her sister's life was sure to be a hundred times worse.

Ty nodded. "That's cool. But yeah, if the guy hadn't been such a violent, abusive piece of crap, I'm sure that scheme woulda worked. Besides, failures add to experience, if nothing else," he said lightly.
"Though, we did make twenty bucks off of that little scheme. So it wasn't all for nothing." Then he had a silly idea.
"Huh...what if I got like, a pack of those army men? You know, the plastic green and tan ones, and left them in various places for maybe a few hours. Collect them, and see what they saw, using the green ones to control using my powers, and the tan trying not to use them? That way I can sort of practice alone without bugging someone else directly to help me."
"I guess it would be quite unpredictable what kind of people you're going to view?" Amber asked with genuine curiosity. Knowing the secret activities people engaged in when they weren't aware that anyone was watching, she could imagine that it must be even more startling viewing a timeline of the past.
"Army men, now that's a pretty great idea," Amber stated with an enthusiastic grin. So what if it wasn't her own power and the control there of that was in the works, it was still great to see another learning to do what they could with their own.
"I'm not sure how much help I can be, but if you need any you have to but ask." Mutants should help out one another, especially those who lived in proximity with one another.

"Actually, I was thinking maybe set them places where not alot goes on. That way I can train without scarring myself, hopefully." He gave a dry chuckle, knowing he'd already seen more crap than he wanted to.
"Hmm...not sure really. Unless you have any ideas for another method? Like maybe take something, put it somewhere or do something with it when I'm not looking, then I have to tell you what you did..." He scratched his chin, thinking.
"Perhaps you should start in quiet areas and work up to more busy ones," Amber suggested. "That way you progress from simple to more complicated." Helping others with their powers was fun, she decided. Well, at least helping others with powers that weren't actually going to result in personal danger or pain. Something told her volunteering to assist a human torch wouldn't be nearly as personally satisfying an experience.
"I think that's a great idea," Amber replied after some consideration. "That would allow you to practice searching for specifics, right? Instead of just a stream of everything." If he could gain more control of his ability, she had no doubt of its many potential uses. One day, perhaps, it would put her own information gathering potential to shame.

Ty nodded, smirking at the thought of planting little plastic army soldiers all over the place to gather information. Not only would it be a good training method, but later he could use this to eavesdrop or to spy on something if he so chose or needed to. Either way it was bound to prove fun, right?
"Yeah, sort of. It'd help me to get a better hang of it, so I can tell what to look for in a stream of oncoming visions."
