The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Serena listened to Liz babble on about it in excitement, her jaw dropped. Serena had been crossing her fingers that Liz wouldn't freak out like she had been expecting her to do,no instead she was bouncing with excitement... Not literally obviously.
Serena looked slightly awkward for a moment "Well you see, as I said, I can't really control it and as far as I can tell it's only outside of the body, I guess I can sorta shape it and change it's form..." Serena wouldn't lie, she felt awkward.
Liz was standing there, getting all excited about a power that could very easily accidentally kill someone. Although... the night before she had used it for self defense and she had managed to do it without hurting anyone. Maybe Liz was right, maybe she should learn to control it.
"I guess your right, about learning to control it I mean, at the very least I should learn it so that I don't accidentally hurt someone." Serena gave Liz a small smile.

Well, there went the bloodbending roommate. “That’s still pretty cool,” Elizabeth stated, as if her opinion could change the universe’s perception of Serena’s ability. But it still looked like the other girl wasn’t totally comfortable talking about it so Liz decided that she’d let it drop. When Liz’ suggestion of training seemed to have been accepted, Liz just smiled brightly at the other blonde before (at least on her side) allowing the topic to die off.
After all, nobody wanted an awkward third-degree within an hour of first meeting someone whom you were destined to be roommates with for the rest of the year.
Unfortunately, now Liz had nothing to talk about. Oh, there were a ton of possible conversation starters bubbling up inside her brain, but none of them felt like subjects Liz could easily bring up without offending or accidentally embarrassing Serena. So, why are you here? That was rather obvious. How’d your parents react when they found out? But what if she didn’t have any parents? What if she was a runaway? Or what if her parents had despised her? Why’d you get here so late? Now that was just rude, not to mention equally insensitive if there was bad that had caused Serena to come in at such an unorthodox time.
But Liz still felt like she had to say something, so she slipped into some of the classic snippets of small-talk used by teens when they were first meeting someone from another place. “So, where are you from?” They was simple enough, right? And hopefully, unless the girl had spent her life in a mad scientist’s lab or something, it couldn’t hurt to talk about it.
Once finished asking, Liz picked her brush back up and began pulling it through her semi-tangled hair.
Serena smiled at Liz, even if Serena wasn't totally comfortable with it, Liz was still nice about it and had decided that it was a pretty cool power. Serena was still a little surprised that Liz wasn't creeped out in the slightest with it.
Serena wondered what Liz did in her spare time... that is when she wasn't waking up her annoying new, unexpected roommate, who was having a nightmare... Serena mentally face palmed.
Serena smiled at Liz's comment widely. This was something she could do with relative ease. Small talk. "I was born in England, lived there for a couple of years, then moved to Scotland for a couple of months, and then eventually I moved here, lived here for a few years."
Serena wondered about Liz. She had a plain American accent, so nothing exotic, not that there was anything wrong with that. "What about you?" Serena brushed her hair with her hand out of her face.

“That’s pretty rad,” Elizabeth exclaimed once she learned of Serena’s home country. Liz wasn’t an anglophile or anything, but it was neat having a roommate of non-American origins. First England, then Scotland. She digested the ramifications of that fact (everything being cool!) while pulling more hair around to be brushed. Slowly but surely, her hair was settling down. She’d probably braid it later: she hadn’t done that in a while.
Then Serena countered her previous question with one of her own. “I’m from Jersey City, New Jersey,” Liz proclaimed, sticking out her jaw and sitting up straight, pretending to exude an air of self-righteousness and pride. But then she devolved into a few giggles over herself. Yeah, Liz had never had a ton of spirit for anything, not even a sports team. “And we’re really nothing like the Shore.” She was clearly alluding to the infamous reality TV show that just so happened to be reportedly placed in her state.
And with that answer, Liz decided the ball was in her court for asking question. “Top three favorite breakfast foods of all time?” Perhaps Elizabeth’s tummy had some influence on that question. Although she didn’t really want to eat at the moment. She’d rather get dressed before that. Her brush started sliding easily through her hair at that point, signaling to Liz that her work was nearly done. Her hair wasn’t quite so messy already; she could tell without even looking into the mirror.
Serena nodded and smiled at Liz's reference to the 'popular' T.V show, in all honesty, most TV got on Serena's nerves, it was all Celebration who had everything handed to them on a silver platter and complained constantly about how hard life was and cried about it to the camera.
Serena thought for a moment about Liz's question and then gave a slightly sarcastic smile, "Toast, Scones and bacon with egg, all with tea... just to further the stereo type obviously..." Serena said slightly sarcastically.
She smiled to Liz "What about you Liz?" Serena was happy to have made a new friend, but she wondered if Liz was just asking about food because she was hungry and had decided to be polite to her new roommate.

Serena’s self-deprecating comment on stereotypes amused Elizabeth. “Well if it’s not broken, don’t fix it!” the girl laughed, a radiant smile practically lighting up the room. So far, serena was showing many of the scenes desired in a roommate. She seemed to be a thinking, rational individual who was not emotion-driven rather than reasoning. She seemed polite and suitably empathetic, not to mention possessing the ability to laugh at herself or to point out the oddities of one’s nature.
Liz felt that they were going to get along just fine.
The return-to-sender question barely phased the mutant. “Homemade French toast with lots and lots of hot syrup, biscuits and gravy with sausage, and cold pizza,” she rattled off with nary a moment to consider. A bit eclectic of an assortment, perhaps, but they were definitely Elizabeth’s preferred foods to eat in the morning.
But the thought of them struck a resounding note within Liz’ body, eventually bounding around until her stomach decided to play a harmonious tone. By grumbling.
“Speaking of breakfast, I think I’m actually going to go grab some anyways. You wanna come?” she queried, standing up and staring quizzically at her roommate for a moment. Then she whirled over to her dresser and began pulling drawers open selecting the apparel she would wear for the day. It felt like a lazy day so she was planning on sweats from head to toe.
Serena smiled at Liz, yes, she was getting a little hungry too. She could eat... but then Serena remembered what she was wearing, lingerie was not exactly what you would wear to breakfast when so many other people would be there.
"I'd love to! But... Don't you think I should probably get dressed first?" Serena said, sounding at little embarrassed, she guessed that she wasn't used to other people seeing her in her sleepwear, her brother was normally out of the apartment going to work as she got up.
Serena felt a mental blush at the thought of going out into a breakfast hall, or wherever it was that they ate dinner, in what she was currently wearing... Then the mental blush, became a real one, she realised that her face felt hot, because she was starting to go a little red...

As Elizabeth fished a grey NYU sweatshirt out of her dresser, Serena spoke up with agreement, but also something else. “Well, of course, silly!” Liz replied with a quick laugh, not even turning around. She’d seen what Serena was wearing. “Unless you like the feelings of dozens of adolescent guys boring holes into you with their eyes. Some of them literally....” Liz trailed off on that line of thinking. Eh, probably wouldn’t happen. Ricardo was supposed to be working on that aspect of his power, but then again, nobody was perfect.
Since she had showered the night before, Liz decided she’d just change clothes. Shucking off her shirt and quickly pulling on another tee, Liz continued. “Of course, the teachers and administrators may not approve at all, if you decided to go walking about like that. But they’d probably only send you back to change, or whatever. Most people just generally cover their skin when going out and about.”
Throughout the exchange, Liz kept her back to Serena. Not because Liz didn’t want to change in front of another person, (she was rather indifferent--she’d had a roommate before and had played sports), but it was more so in case Serena wasn’t use to doing the same.
When Liz was finally dressed in all grey sweats and white ankle socks, she finished up her routine and went over to her parrot’s cage, making sure he had enough food and water. He did. I’ll be back eventually,” Liz informed the bird quite unnecessarily. She was pretty sure Nico didn’t care one way or another if she was there or not, as long as he had food.
Turning around to face her roommate, Liz smiled and said, “Ready yet?”
Serena smiled and nodded and stared for a moment as Liz turned around and changed... then she realised she was staring and gave herself a mental slap, she turned and removed her lingerie and began putting on some underwear, yes that was a good start. Don't stare at the naked Roommate, that would not be good manners.
Serena quietly giggled realising that she was having a mental argument with herself about manors with a female roommate. She pulled her underwear on her and stood over her suitcase, looking into the pile of clothing which resided within. She found a pair of Jeans and a simple sleeveless top, it was actually quite warm inside, so that should do just fine.
She set out some shoes as well and then put on her trousers and heard Liz question if she was ready, as Liz turned around Serena pulled her top over her, a flash of unusually pale skin would be caught by her roommate eyes.
She finished pulling her shirt down, it was comfy. She turned to her roommate with a very warm smile. "Give me one sec to grab something." Serena's hands drifted to her suitcase, she found what she was looking for, her old blue hair pins, but next to them rested a box with her new blood red ones.
She reached for them but froze. She didn't like how the power reminded her of a part of herself that she would rather didn't exist. She grabbed the blue hair pins and stuck them in her hair. "Alright, lets go." Serena said sweetly.

Elizabeth decided that next time, she’d ask before she turned around. Like how you’re supposed to knock before you barge into the room. Fortunately enough, Liz only saw a tiny bit of midriff instead of other things. Nothing shocking or scandalous there. Or possibly embarrassing. But Serena did seem dressed and everything, except for a few accessories.
As the bloodbender went to finish up, Liz remembered her own clothing additions. Even though her wrists were covered by her sweatshirt, Liz went ahead and swiped a handful of leather bracelets and braided bands off her dresser top, sliding them into place on both her wrists. There was no sense in starting up any little conversations about the evidence on her forearms, even though there was a chance Serena had already noticed the series of tiny lines taking root near her wrists.
Everything was in place when Serena declared herself ready. “Okey-dokey, then!” Liz smiled cavalierly and trotted out the door, her long hair flowing freely in a glorious blonde mane. Their destination being the kitchen, Liz easily retraced the path she’d taken not thirty minutes previously, pointing out various halls and rooms they passed. she doubted Serena would remember any of it, but nobody was really expected to have the place memorized in one view.
Stepping into the vacant kitchen (it being much too early for most of the other Mansion residents) Liz was delighted in having the entire place to themselves. “What are you hungry for?” Liz asked as she made her way to the fridge. French toast was sounding very good at the moment, but for that, she needed eggs.
Serena smiled and nodded to Elizabeth as they moved through the mansion, She pointed out several rooms, Serena tried to memorize them, but suspected it would take more than a day to get completely used to the mansion's layout and know were everything is.
She sort of knew her way to the kitchen, as Emerald had led Serena and Victoria a few nights previous. Serena wondered how Victoria was doing... She should go and see her when she becomes properly settled in.
Serena and Liz moved into an empty kitchen. Serena smiled.
She thought about Liz's comment for a second and then realised that she really did not mind what they ate. "I don't mind, so why don't you decide and I'll help you cook it." Serena turned her head slightly and gave a warm smile.
She had been known at her last high school for her signature smile. She wondered what the people at the mansion would think of her odd smile... It had become used so often that it was practically second nature to her.

Serena’s answer suited Elizabeth just fine. “Well then,” she stated decidedly, “we are going to be making French toast.” She flashed a smile that could’ve been a near-contender for the other girl’s particularly charming one. “Do you think you could grab a mixing bowl out of those cabinets?” A single finger blindly pointed the correct ones out, even as Liz opened the refrigerator with her other hand.
As she began selecting the eggs and milk, the zoopath decided that some small-talk would probably help put Serena at if (whether she was at ease or not). “So what’s your background in the fine arts?” she queried. “Writing and literature included.” Because direct, personal questions were always the best and quickest way to get to know someone.
Liz gently set her bounty on one of the many counters in the kitchen. She carefully picked out the eggs they’d be needing before returning the carton back to its frigid domain. Along the way, she passed by the breadbox. She opened it so on her return trip, she could swipe a loaf of bread. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much stale bread. The mansion staff was too good at keeping everything freshly stocked and the mansion inhabitants were too good at eating everything in sight. Which is why Liz always carefully hid her Oreo stashes.
Serena smiled. She had never tried french toast before, and she was perfectly willing to try it out. Serena grinned at Liz's wonderful smile this girl would make an absolutely perfect roommate for Serena, she just knew it.
Serena pulled a mixing bowl from the indicated cabinet and handed it to Liz while she pondered her question. "I enjoy artwork, even though I don't really know much about it, and I've never tried it myself, I love reading, that list could go on for hours... From Pride&Prejudice/Shakespeare to things like harry potter books."
Serena giggled slightly, she should start reading at night to relax herself, she hadn't read much recently, and it wasn't as if she'd have school work for a little while, so she might as well. She wondered how this whole Settling in period would go...
She smiled "What about you Liz, what do you like to read, or look at, or, ugh, you know what I mean..." Serena mumbled in the same sweet tone.

“Those are some excellent books, right there,” Elizabeth decreed with a grin as she put the offered mixing bowl on the table with the rest of the loot. The classics and the modern. And it would seem as if the two girls had even more things in common. Liz made herself a note to mention the mansion’s library at one point.
Liz returned to trawling the cabinets for additional items but stopped to consider Serena’s question. “Well, I like those particular books as well. And I’m a sucker for a good romance or inverted fairy tale in which the princess saves the knight,” said Liz as she turned back to her cabinet-crawling. She found a stout, wooden spoon and a measuring cup and placed them on the table. “You can go ahead and put about three eggs in. And a cup of milk,” she informed the Anglo lass.
“I play the piano a bit, too,” piped Liz, continuing the actual conversation. “But I haven’t touched it in awhile. School can get rather busy. But I’m sorely lacking in everything when it comes to graphic art.” Sculpting? Painting? Drawing? Ugh. “Do you play or do anything music or art-related?” As she talked, the Jersey girl finally found the tablespoons and related measuring devices. And the spices. She pilfered the containers of nutmeg, brown sugar, and cinnamon, returning to the table with her hoard.
Switching back to the cooking, Liz decided to inform Serena as to what they were going to do. “We’re going to put in a teaspoon of cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar in all of this and then mix it. Got it so far?” Simultaneous kitchen conversations. What an excellent way to thoroughly confuse anyone on an early Sunday morning.
Serena smiled. "I love romance too!" Her and Liz seemed to already be getting some overlaps, that was great. Serena was liking her roommate more and more by the minute.
Serena knew her dad could play the piano, but she had never seen nor heard him play it, she herself could not, for she had always been too busy with school work. "Nah, I've never played anything, always wanted to learn guitar or bass though, they look like they could be a ton of fun."
Serena nodded to Liz as she finished giving a description of what they were about to do. "Yeah, got it. I'm tend to pick up on things decently fast, so hopefully I won't mix anything up and nuke some french toast..." Serena murmured sarcastically.
