The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He was right, she had been largely targeting Humanity as a whole. Her targets were picked in that she encountered them in alleys and other less then desired places and only then because Lori had ordered her from overly public slaughters. She had also been told not to kill those the Order extracted money from with their insurance scheme. She had never quite supported the plan but Orders were orders.
"I knew the mutant as Sayre, He was in the same prison as me and no older. He could alter memory, i met him recently again. He did claim not to be able to repair the damage, but since he can alter memory...." she said leaving it open. He could well have altered her and the Reds memories without them knowing. He had said the limits of his powers but it was impossible to know weather or not he was lying.
"You are right though, I have selected the targets simply because they were in front of me. I don't really understand how to act without orders " she admitted. Most of Aura's larger blood baths had been with others in the lead. Meld had been a frequent partner but their had been others and a few were not entirely her fault either. Still other then most had hated Mutant's she had no real idea how much damage she had done to such people.
Her own usual dealings had been with people she knew had little influence in society. In part it was do to being Ordered to stay of TV, so to speak but even before that she knew most of her victims would have meant little in an actual war. In an Actual war she suddenly realized, she would likely be fighting men such as the driver of the car she was in.
"I was a solider such things as planning and selecting targets was never suppose to be my decision. How can word's do anything when it is our biology that is the issue? Evaluation works by killing off the former to allow the better race to take over, in our case, our inheritance of the planet. Any animal will fight when cornered and as our numbers grow, Humanities genetics will make them more and more afraid and more like cornerd rats. Or so that is how it was explained in those day long lectures back in the woods" she said, however the god's silence had started infect her faith in this.
Still her talk with this man was leading her down a thought path that was making sense. If one kept those humans who supported mutants or even tolerated them and killed the others, perhaps their could be some form of coexistence.
"Still the dead can not rescind their orders which makes things diffacult when situations change" she said but in the end had she not just been interpreting those orders in a way that let her stay fighting, to chase after that feeling of serenity the dance of the battlefield brought to her body. Perhaps her beliefs were even wrong, but did it matter? That was a quesion in Aura's mind that seemed to have no answers.
She was a soldier without guidance. As she continued to talk, he sympathized with her plight, regardless of the fact that he didn’t show it. He didn’t want to seem like he was going to pity her, as that was a fast way to make a soldier stop talking to you and stop listening. Soldier’s were supposed to be strong, follow orders and kick ass, not be weak, regardless of the fact that they were still very human, regardless of genetics, and had the same issues as every other person in the world. He continued to listen, making his assessments, and realizing that there was one key thing that she didn’t have, and that was guidance. She didn’t think for herself, or perhaps, she didn’t want to, but a good soldier is able to adapt, and overcome the obstacles in their way. Once she was finished, he pulled out an old Army quote.
“There is no plan that survives the trials of combat. He paused for a moment, letting those words peruse her mind for a moment. “If you want to be a good soldier, you have to be able to adapt, and make decisions based on what you think is the right thing to do.” He paused again, making a mental decision in his mind, and hoping that he wouldn’t regret doing so.
“Do you want to be a good soldier?” He paused again, letting the very blunt question sink in and allowing her to respond if she did so instinctively. Regardless, he would continue. “I have trained hundreds of people, human and mutant, how to be a good soldier. It’s not easy, but it can be done, and there have been people who are a whole lot more lost and uncertain than you that I have been able to make into soldiers that any Commander would be proud of. I can teach you, if you would choose to follow me.” He wouldn’t try to force her; it was her decision, and one that she probably wouldn’t be able to make on the spot. That was fine, and he grabbed a card from his inside pocket, bringing his information and he prepared to hand it to her if she was still very uncertain.
Jacob hoped she would accept, because a Soldier with her kind of power lashing out at humanity was only going to make things worse… especially if there was a fight between the two varieties of humans. She would be killed, one way or another, simply because she had been publicly labeled as someone who was a threat… and he hoped he could change that.
Had she adapted well to her situation? She had tried. The world was much different place then she understood. The idea that no plan survived brought protest to her lips, but died there as she had recalled her own command. Had their plans more often then not been shattered? Their had been guiding principle, but often the small groups had been sent into the wood alone and as such had often been forced to improvise.
The rest of her word's stirred much inside her, she did want to be a better soilder but it was hard for her to take the idea of him training her entirely seriously. He was a solider yes, but their ideals were so far apart and of which she knew might one day force them to fight. "I don't understand, you would seek to train a weapon Such as I? Well i do seek to become a stronger better solider, i am lost on your motivation. We could one day have to dance in the grip of combat." she said not rejecting his offer but trying to make it make sense to herself.
"I...can not answer now, I am interested in your offer, but such things I must ask those in charge. " she said doign her best not to talk of those she faithfully served.
"I have often hated my lack of power, i have long blamed my inability to protect those i care about. I Believed that raw power was the route to that. Perhaps my power was meant to fight another way" she said taking the card her own words pondering the thoughts she had established so far with this man. He was doing a few things she deemed insane, like talking about training her, but he clearly was mutant and that meant a lot.
Jacob moved quickly and quietly through the various subjects in his mind, pondering the idea of simply of why he was wanting to train her. Perhaps it was because she was a soldier, like himself, and although she had all the arsenal she would ever need if he guessed at her mutation correctly, but not the training to use it to maximum effectiveness. Jacob nodded as she put the one main caution into audible form, realizing that it was likely that she could come into combat with himself. “I realize the possibility… but I know if you know how to use a weapon correctly, it not only becomes stronger, but the wielder becomes more attuned to use it properly. You won’t want to waste your ability on those who don’t matter… and focus more on protecting those who do.”
He paused for a moment, letting that sink in, but decided that he should drive that point home. “The best weapons in the world are designed to protect the people and ideals that we care about, not destroy others.” He then felt it was likely a prudent idea to bring up one last bit, realizing that he had yet to touch on the subject. “By all means, talk to whom you need to. I’m honestly not on any ‘side’ so I hope we don’t meet in combat, but I still wouldn’t hesitate to help you hone whatever your ability is capable of.” That finally being said, he grew silent, allowing her a chance to respond and, should she want to, return to her home here in Sanctuary which they were parked outside of.
She was not as sure as he seemed to be on them ending up not fighting. Aura had no desire to have to seriously fight this man one day. However if he would protect humans then she had to consider the fact. She also believed she could learn much from the man however. He could even be right she thought to herself. SHe had used her power on many who would never aspire to more then jail or death anyhow and only when asked to come with others did it tend to be much more productive.
"I really hope we don't need to fight one day, your the first person i have found i can relate with. Most people, even our people don't truly understand the beauty of combat or understand what taking life's is like. " she said her eyes looking at a tree outside the car. With a smile she opened the door but stayed for a moment. "Watch this" she said with a smile closing the door.
Around her right hand a long oval began to from a foot in front of her fist it was this but the edges were covered in teeth, it took her a few moments of concentration, then the teeth began moving much like a chain saw. Riasing her hand High she brought the Aura chainsaw down on the branch and though the thick strong wood slowed the weapon, within secound's the chain saw was through the half foot thick branch, which fell at her feet. The Aura weapon, began to look as though it were melting pink ice, quickly flowing back closer to her body until it faded away almost entirely except for a thin veil around her body. Walking closer to the car, she wrote down her number for him. "Sanctuary is open to our people and only our people, but any of us are welcome" she said loking back at the Golden doors.
Jacob listened to her, and nodded at the mention that she hoped that they didn’t have to fight. To be honest, Jacob always hoped that he wouldn’t have to fight anyone… but the reality of it was that he was likely to be surrounded by violence for one reason or another until his life was over. That was fine with him… he knew his limitations, and what he would or would not do, and the in depth reasoning behind those different moral standings. He was honed, trained and proficient, but this young woman needed serious guidance if she was going to make it through this world without making the ‘list’ of individuals that were to be eliminated because they were a serious threat. He didn’t suspect there was a list, he knew there had to be, otherwise there would be total anarchy with the mutants who were very powerful and wanted to destroy anything and everything.
He wanted to save her from making that list.
It was interesting that he was the first person she felt she could relate with, but then again, he was a rather rare breed, even among soldiers. She spoke of the beauty of combat and taking a life, but he could see that it was still the twisted mindset she was in that were controlling those words, and left it alone this time. She was going to start resisting what he was trying to teach if he pushed too hard too fast, so he would ease up, and let what he said sink in a bit better. Reinforce the principles later, and they were much more likely to stick.
She then demonstrated her ability, and Jacob watched in rapt attention, actually stepping out of his car completely to ensure he could see it all. It was quite impressive. “Something tells me that what you showed me there is only the tip of the iceberg. Next time we meet, hopefully I will be able to show you a little of what we talked about.” He was presented with a phone number, which he took, and also presented her with his business card, which included his cell phone number on the back. “I will stop by sometime and hopefully we can talk some more at that time. You are also welcome to come by the shop anytime you like.”
