The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jameson tilted his head as he looked at her. Somehow she didn't seem the type who would be a trainer. Ami was too unique, too original to do something mundane like teach a person how to be a super hero. The thought made Jameson chuckle even as it crossed his mind though, and he realized he was interested in her proposition.
And aikido? The teen didn't even know if he'd be able to repeat the word if he tried. It was obviously some kind of martial art...and he could come to class if he didn't mind getting tossed around by a girl.
He smiled again, and it was every bit as wry as Ami's.
"Why not. If I'm not on a court I get thrown around by everyone else."
That sparked an idea.
"That reminds me. The season is about to start, you should check out a game sometime."
She laughed at his comment. So, he played basketball. Awesome. Cool points, earned. And suddenly, he was suggesting she could come to a game. Hm. That made her mentally pause. It didn't last long, though. She was replying before she'd missed a beat.
"Girls basketball will be running, too. You'll be able to watch me play."
So, she was going to be introducing him to Quin, and watching him play basketball, then. Well. It'd keep her busy, that was certain. And this definitely wasn't flirting. The thought stayed firmly out of her mind.
"I didn't know." Jameson admitted. Then again, they hadn't really been close over the years. There was also the fact that he hadn't ever really paid much attention to the girls' team. They were rivals for attention at school. In fact, he and his teammates had often aimed jeers in the girls' general direction.
Maybe that was a trend that would have to change.
"I could totally go for some work on the power stuff though. I guess if I think about it really hard and try to make a square peg fit in a round hole our powers are a bit similar."
"Then you'd definitely better come to a game," she smirked. He would have to be educated on how skilled her team was. Her, included.
Jameson brought powers up again, and Amelia nodded thoughtfully.
"Hm. Maybe. I still don't really understand all you can do... was kind of distracted at the time. You'll have to explain that to me."
Thoughts of Super Powers and Superheroes, she could do without, but learning to use one's mutation, to control it, make it work for you? Those things, she was all for. And that sort of stuff was still interesting, even when it was being used for the mundane. You didn't have to throw lizard men across the street to be cool. Although, it helped.
The good news was that Ami was at least considering helping him out with his powers. If nothing else, she'd be able to help with his confidence. One thing he'd figured out quickly was that Ami had that in spades. Even in the throes of what had to be a bad breakup she was more self-contained than most people he knew.
The inevitable knocking from the police chose that moment to arrive.
Jameson could hear his parents moving to the door, opening it, and admitting the brass.
There, they went... the interviews took a while. During it, they were questioned on what had happened, what they'd done, and what they guy had said and looked like. They both did their best to answer the questions. Eventually, the police were pleased with the information they'd gathered, and left. They left Jameson's parents with a number, in case either of them remembered anything, and had taken both Jameson and Amelia's numbers and addresses down, for good measure. Jameson's parents had had to sit through the whole thing. After it was all through, Amelia was exhausted.
"I should call my brother," she'd said. And so she had. With a joking salute and a good bye, she left Jameson to the dogs. His parents looked grave.
