It had only been several hours after Emerald had left the wedding that she was already on patrol. For what? Simply stated: any crimes of any kind being committed against innocent people, human or mutant. In her absence from the Xavier Institute, the young woman learned several things, one of those being that the police of New York City, despite their vigilance, were not doing that great of a job keeping people safe.
Crimes against mutants seemed to be more prevalent than crimes against humans, so a good deal of the time, things tended to hit far too close to home to the wolf girl for her to simply ignore it. Not only this, but for a long time she was sick and tired of her fellow X-men sitting upon their high horses only helping when their was a global crisis on their hands and nothing more. Justice could not prevail if a team of super humans just went off doing more ‘important things’ while the rest of the world burned.
In this time of crisis and global decay of society, Emerald took on the persona of Shred, a mysterious motorcycle rider who stole away into the night, rescuing those who could not rescue themselves. To hide her identity Emerald wore a black motorcycle riding suit, with dark blue stripes down the sides, her helmet being the same. Her suit was large and bulky so she was not only able to hide her tail underneath it but she was also able to hide her gender as well.
It was a truly great thing because now she was able to disguise herself with near perfection without the risk of being discovered. Truthfully, Emerald could have just not gone with the whole super hero get up and looked completely normal while doing this. The problem, though, was that people could go after her and possibly her family if she kept herself in the open like that.
The distinct roar of her Black Harley motorcycle roared in her ears as she parked infront of an alleyway where she could have sworn she heard a noise before. After taking a quick glance from beneath the visor of her helmet she realized a young woman was being harassed by 3 burly men all looking for one thing, judging by their leering gazes. However, it only took them a moment to realize they were being watched by a mysterious figure sitting upon a motorcycle.
Red, the redhead and no doubt the leader of the group approached the figure, typical bad boy swagger as he approached the seemingly hapless driver of the motorcycle.
“Hey Buddy. Whatcha doing here? Ya lost or something? Beat it punk, we are busy getting this girl to show some of what she’s got.” The male smiled at the helmet clad interloper before turning his back. “Hey. Maybe you want to join us?”
Before he even had time to react a wooden baseball bat came crashing down on Red’s head making a loud cracking noise. The 6’1 man crashed to the ground like a sack of potatoes.
While he wasn’t dead in the slightest, his friends still threw quite a fit when he dropped, both ignoring the terrified blonde woman to go after ‘Shred’. The one with Black hair threw several punches that would have hurt greatly if any had actually hit. However, all were dodged by the oddly graceful biker, just before they threw a strong right hook at his face, colliding with his mug.
A loud crack sound was heard once again but this time it was fist hitting bone so hard that several bones in the man’s jaw were broken, as well as his nose. He fell backwards, knocked unconscious by the sheer force of the blow. Emerald shook her hand a little, feeling as if it had just slammed into a brick wall. She then looked over at the third thug who looked absolutely terrified, approaching him with an absolutely evil grin underneath her visor. With the most intimidating voice Emerald could muster she growled.
“Boo.”
Apparently, even the word ‘boo’ leaving Emerald Lupin’s mouth when she is Shred is the most terrifying thing in the world, judging by how fast the third thug turned tail and ran. The wolf girl laughed beneath her helmet before watching the woman approach her. She was about 5’4, blonde hair, blue eyes, but only a thin waif of a woman who most likely would have been easily beaten up by one of those men’s punches if they got their hands on her. Luckily though, she only had a small bruise on her arm from defending herself against them.
“How can I ever thank you? Who are you?” She asked, her voice shaking from her previous attack.
With that, Emerald turned away from the rest of the alleyway, beginning to walk back to her motorcycle. As she mounted the thing, she revved up the engine a few times before she finally spoke.
“No need to thank me ma’am. And my name is Shred.” Emerald told her before racing away into the dead of night.
