The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Halloween. The one time of the year when you can dress as anything and get away with it. When both child and adult take to the streets for a night of unbridled fun. Of course, most adults were having fun of a different sort. No trick or treating for those not dragging about kids. No staying home minding the candy bowl. Nope. A whole night of guiltless eating and drinking.
Megan, as a responsible, well adjusted adult, was about to join in on the fun.
Of course, she had neglected to dress in the modern, fashionable Halloween costumes most of the other females were wearing. Instead, she was bathed in black and white. Tight black pants that covered everything from ankle to hip, heavy black boots, and a loosely fitted striped shirt that covered her arms to the wrists. Her hair was tucked up into a black cap; brim pulled down low to cover her eyes, which were accented by a little slip of a black mask. She looked the part of a classic bank robber, down to the white burlap bag she had tucked in her back pocket.
Standing to one side as a crowd slowly meandered past, she watched as more colorful, or gory, costumes moved on by. Roach has told her to meet him here around 3:30, and according to her watch, she was on time. Now she just needed to find him... which was usually harder than it seemed when looking for a giant bug mutant, as well as the other guy. What had his name been?... She couldn’t recall.
A trio of Mimes wandered past, spotted her, and started shouting for her to join them. She smiled back, politely flipping them the bird, before going back to scanning the crowd for her soon-to-be partners in crime.
The Halloween parade was in full effect, men and woman wandering down the street trying to gather the masses to join them. He could see the happiness it brought to the youth who where in the parade, their faces lighting up as there favorite heroes and villains would walking down the street with some eerie music playing.
Jean had never been one for the holiday, but this Halloween was much like any other, where he was more after the tricks then the treat. With a strange shake concoction in hand he was leaned against a van he had dressed for the occasion, laughing at all the passerby's in their interesting costumes.
His costume of choice this year was rather suiting to him, one he was quite proud of. Draped in modern day robin hood outfit paired with a small black mask like something out of a superhero movie he awaited his felow "Team Mates", well thats he would call them for the night at least. His contact hadn't provided much intel on them, not the basis to a job he would normally take up, but he needed the money. Getting away was the task he was assigned, and getting away is what he was good at.
After several minutes of watching the parade he had spotted one of the contacts, all he was given was a location and a photo of the young woman and it seemed to be her.Downing what was left of his high calorie shake he examined the woman from the other side. Her choice of outfit was quite interesting to say the least but then again, who would expect a woman dressed as a thief to be the actual thief? Her fiesty attitude was apparent as she gave the finger to a group of passing mimes, who strangely looking very much like her, it seemed to just click in his head how much mimes looked like robbers from the silent film era. Chuckling a bit as he made his way through the street during an intermission of the parade, a lightning quick jog to the other side and they would be in speaking distance.
With his picture in hand he wouldnt say much just showing it to her, and on the back a simple letter M would be written very largely along with a note "Keep your eye on the other guy" a brow raised after reading the letter he would just chuckle it off before speaking to the young woman "M, I presume?" A slight hint at a french accent would be heard in his calm yet almost playful tone
Was he normally the type to do freelance work? No. Not at all. Was this job possibly the most preposterous, insane, and potentially hilarious thing he'd heard mention of since the election results in 2000. Yes. Quite. He was in love with it.
What was their job? Well, he'd been gifted with that information. Megan? Not so much. Their third contact? He wasn't sure. What he was sure both of them knew, was that they were to dress as some form of criminal, and meet up at the U district's Halloween parade. He himself? They'd selected him for this job because he was the only person they could find that was crazy enough to know the full plan, and still do it.
The giant cockroach was dressed in an over sized kangaroo costume to conceal his mutation, and a Nixon mask to fit with the overall theme... Most people wouldn't get the joke, but in his mind, he was captain kangAROOOO... Heh..
Ahem.
Anyways, Nixon kangaroo was already making his way through the crowd to a very familiar criminal, and a not so familiar Robin hood-like fellow. Nixon was grinning widely as he stopped in front of the two, and placed his hands in the air, forming Kangaroo peace signs, proclaiming loudly. "I am most definitely a crook." In a rather accurate Nixon impression.
His antennae, cleverly guided down so that they ran along the masks's face, lifted the mask as if it were on a hinge, revealing his monstrous face. "I do hope you are both prepared for quite the quest. We have a long day ahead of us, and so much sweet chaos to be wrought." His antennae allowed his mask to lower once more, and he turned, waving them into the parade; it was an open walk at this point, so anyone with a costume could join in as long as they stayed clear of the slowly moving floats.
"The destination is at the end of the street. We are to gain entrance quickly, subdue the person at the front desk without harming them, go to the back and grab the package, and then flee. It is very important you return to me after the escape; I will be next to the Frankenstein float. I will then give you more instruction from there!" He continued down the street toward their destination, clacking his mandibles in joyous anticipation as the building came into sight... It, and the many squad cars parked before it.
No, it was not a doughnut shop, you fool! It was a police station! It was an honest to goodness, fully staffed police station, and they were going to rob it.
Fun!

Icy eyes swiveled, landing on the owner of the accented voice. He'd popped out of nowhere, which she blamed fully on the annoying parade goers. "Yer lookin' at her." She answered back, eyeballing his costume before turning her eyes back to scan the crowd for Roach.
It didn't take long, seeing as he also popped out of virtually nowhere, too.
Why was he dressed like a kangaroo in a nixon mask?.... No, wait, it was pointless to ask or try and figure out his motive. He just was, and that was that. Rolling her eyes, she crossed her arms over her chest. "Har har, real funny."
Now that their little party was complete, she got to wondering what was up exactly. Her involvement in the job had been unclear and vague... which she was none too happy about.
"I do hope you are both prepared for quite the quest. We have a long day ahead of us, and so much sweet chaos to be wrought."
"...Quest?" She was sure he'd fill them in at some point, before too long. It's not like he was going to just take off with out her knowing what she was even doi-- "Hey! Where'r you going?!" Stomping after him, she forced her questioned to wait, while he laid out who they were to carry out this little operation... whatever it was. The end result left her dangling still, as it didn't properly explain where they were going. "...And this place is...?"
Maybe she wasn't supposed to ask questions or whatever, but she wasn't exactly a professional criminal here. She liked to know where she was going, along with what and how. Currently she knew the what, and how... but not the why or where. Glancing over at their other partner, who she only knew as "J". Maybe he knew more?
"If someone doesn't fill me in quick, i'm gonna start cutting faces."
With a quick reply he knew he had gathered at the right place, shortly after to be joined by a man in a strange combination of costume. He couldnt help but chuckle at the sight of a kangaroo with a nixon mask, but it was short lived as once he revealed his face he could see the revealed roach like appearance. Jean had cringed back a bit, it was hard not to given what he was looking at his mandibles moving around as he spoke out before what was now revealed as the target.
"Seriously? You want me to break into a police station?" he raised a brow with a smirk on his face. Looking to the young woman next to him he would reply to her acquisition for more information with a simple shrug, it would seem she was just in the dark about this mission as he was.
"No idea mon amie, just as lost as you are"
He would then look to the Nixon masked man, he seemed to be the ringleader of this little operation and it was safe to assume this suicide mission was his doing. Jean knew what he could do, getting in and out was not an issue, the others may not be blessed with such a fortunate mutation for the situation. With a quick sigh he had decided to just roll with it "So where exactly is this package, and whats the plan?" he asked to the living roach.
He knew it was a stupid idea, but he couldn't help but feel a tad bit excited about the whole situation, the idea of such a high risk had begun to bring out the daredevil in him.
He eyed the two, his devilish Nixon grin accurately portraying his feeling on the matter. Hah! They thought it was a bad idea, didn't they? Well, that's exactly why it was a good idea~ It was so crazy it had to work!
"I suppose I could explain a little more... I must say you two have no sense of adventure! M, I'm especially shocked in your case." He paused for a moment, adding some suspense, and went into the Nixon voice once again. "My fellow Americans, I have called upon you on this day, in a time of great need... You see, we are going to to steal something very... very valuable. So valuable indeed, that it is carefully guarded right at the police station's front room, by a man... at a desk!" He said the last bit as if it were the climax of a horror tale. He paused as they didn't freak out. "The candy. We're stealing all of the candy." He then cackled and skipped down the street, joining the merriment of the parade. "Ten grand each, my friends! Ten grand each!"
Of course, he didn't inform them that their main mission was to pull the bulk of the police force away from the station while some evidence vital to an ongoing case was stolen... Mainly because he just wanted all of that sweet, precious candy! He was so excited by the prospect of all taking the joy and happiness away from the would-be trick or treaters that he dropped the Nixon voice."When we get what we need, we'll have to stay close by! It's quite important that we don't lose the police right away! We need them to be able to follow us!"
Thanks to Andrea and Jorge for my sigs! I WABBLE YOUUU! AV Roach~
A police station!? Her eyes shifted from Roach, to their new partner, then back to Roach. As her roommate started to explain, she listened as intently as she could.
"...We... what?"
They... were to steal a bunch of candy? From a police station. On Halloween. After a quiet moment of staring at Roach like he'd grown a second head (which really wouldn't have surprised her all that much, actually), she laughed. Not a chuckle, nor a giggle. A full out bark of laughter that probably seemed really odd coming from someone people kept mistaking for a mime.
"Holy@%#%... Candy? Well... alright then. Lead the way." She'd been expecting something a lot more... dangerous. What kind of trouble would they really get into from stealing candy from cops? None that she didn't mind.
In fact, maybe this was just the type of adventure she needed after everything that had happened. Lighthearted, victimless crime. With a one shouldered shrug, she followed along beside the mysterious "J".
