The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

As people say, most of this site's ideas come from the cbox, so, long story short, Kite and I had a random idea for a potential site-wide plot (more like a part of the Mutant Riots plot, actually).
What if an organization that constructs homes for the poor (somewhat like Habitat for Humanity) was working on a project in or close to NYC? And, what if the people running it were willing to allow, or even were encouraging, mutant volunteers. This would probably happen shortly after the Mutant Riots Plot kicks off as an effort for the more peaceful mutants to improve their overall image in the eyes of humanity. There is even room for not-so-friendly mutants to try (and maybe successfully) sabatage the project. There's potential for members of different factions, as well as neutrals, to get involved.

I like this idea very much, and even if it's not a part of the Riot plot or a site-wide plot in general, I think it would be a very nice idea for a singular thread.
I would certainly volunteer Alice for this endeavor.
Speaking for Aurion only (Dur! Yeah, haha.), I think Aurion wouldn't know what to do about that. Mutants can already have a pretty tough time finding houses or apartments at it is. If a group...even humans...were really helping to make homes for mutants, Aurion wouldn't like that it was humans, he'd think they were trying to screw the mutants somehow, he'd want them to have homes and places to live.
I reckon Verdy would be up for some helping-out-the-masses/ trying-to-make-mutants-seem-less-shoddy-ness... Also it may give her a chance to work on her power somewhat, portal hand-nailgun anyone? Looking forward to the threads ^_^
Dude, this idea is great! Here is a goody-two-shoes volunteering to help with building the homes for the poor! Alex's ability to manipulate malachite could easily be use to act as temporary supports for scaffolding until the permanent stuff is in place. He could also cut the boards to their needed lengths, hammer stuff into place, and since he's been a locksmith for most of his life he could be doing stuff for the door locks too! Pal, Alex would want to join this group for good since he's put his life into protecting those that can't protect themselves!
