The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

When the person Sarah had been following stopped, she did as well. They were in a shaded clearing about three or four yards across. It was rather small, but it gave Sarah a chance to study the person she had been following.
They were only a few inches taller than her. Long almost black hair ran down their back, with braids placed in random areas of the hair. She could make out animal skin clothes and shoes donning the person. There was a bow and quiver of arrows slung over their shoulder.
After long minutes of silence, the person turned around. When Sarah caught sight of their face, she gasped.
She had finished the question she had been working on and started on another. She felt bad that she wasn't too into doing the survey. She promised herself that she'd finish it after things settled a little.
>>“Ok, how about this: you go to the kitchen and get what I ordered and I’ll get up and head to the restroom. We can see who he follows, if he follows. Who knows maybe he just likes staring?”
Sarah felt a small laugh leave her after he suggested that there wasn't a problem. It would have been quite funny if that was the case. It would mean both of them had been worried for nothing.
"That sounds like a good idea. It won't look to strange." Sarah glanced at the clock, which was positioned on the wall in front of her. The burger should be done in a minute or so, she figured. "I'll go check on your meal after I'm done with this one.
The restroom was close enough to the kitchen that they really wouldn't be far from the other. She realized that fact was used to create his plan. With a few words, she finished the question. She smiled as she stood from her seat and made her way to the kitchen. As she passed the staring man, she kept her eyes away from him.
"Sarah!" she heard the old cook call out. "That meal's almost ready, just give me a second."
Sarah smiled and nodded. She wasn't in a rush. She turned around to check to see what the man by the door did, only to find him inside the kitchen. He was only a few feet away from her. She knew he could easily reach out and hurt her.
"Hello there. Who's your friend?" he asked her. He was smiling at her with a cruel look in his eyes.
"Just a customer. I don't even know his name," she told him.
Sarah waited with a semi-baited breath. She wasn't too sure why this teen's opinion seemed to matter so much. 'Because he's a teen and "teens need to go to church",' her mind recited. It was something the priest had told her a few times.
The statues? Sarah thought back. Did she have pictures? She had taken one of the doors opening, the pews, the wood detail on the confession boxes, and a few other things she had thought about. No statues though. With a quick shake of her head she looked around the church.
"I didn't sorry," she told him. A quick thought made her smirk. "Wanna be my assistant?"
If he said yes, she could take him to the statues. They said she could go back if she needed to. She wasn't going to lie to a priest, but if he agreed, it wouldn't be lying. If he said no, then that was it. She wouldn't be able to take him. She hoped he'd say yes.
Sarah was even more shocked that he asked her what she was doing. It seemed forced, but she would answer anyway. 'What to tell him.'
"I'm painting an ad from the church. They're in need of more attendants and asked me to do something for them. I'm trying to make it a collage of pictures, highlighting the church's best qualities. It's almost done actually. I just need to finish the stain-glass window and add a bit with people in the pews.
"I've already gotten a painting of the confession boxes; the wood was a pain to detail by the way. I did a quick bit of the doors opening; it was off a picture but it looked cool to me. I also did a some of the sculptures in the courtyard in the back; it's not open to the public but they let me paint it since members of the church can go in there." Sarah paused to take a breath. She realized she was rambling, but she couldn't help herself.
"Sorry. I guess I got excited. Do you wanna see it?" She waited for his answer with only a little patience.
Sarah was walking down some nameless street with nothing to do. Raining was pouring down her, but her long coat was covering her white shirt so she didn't mind. She wasn't sure why she was. She just was. She turned the corner of one building and spotted what looked like a dinosaur...
She stopped dead. Then suddenly the dinosaur started to shift. It's body seemed to be shrinking. It was oddly disturbing and Sarah winced at how painful it must have been. Her mind instantly realized that the woman, who was what the dinosaur changed into, was a mutant. Another realization, the woman was naked.
Made sense actually. As the human body shifted, the clothes would rip in shreds. When the woman was done, Sarah started to move towards the woman.
>>"The dinosaur was a mutant and I am she. I am now left without clothing."
The woman's body was pale, that much Sarah would allow her eyes to see. However a quick glance across the woman's body had Sarah seeing a large amount of blood on her leg. The brunette strode closer to the pale woman. Her nakedness was startling, but understandable.
'Sounds like she's talking to someone.' After the thought floated, a jacket appeared around the side of the building the woman was closest to. Sarah stopped close ten feet from the pale woman.
>>"Here. Put this on, you'll get soaked out here. Are you alright?"
Sarah smiled. That voice was distinctly male, as was the jacket. Sarah wondered if she should say anything. Instead, she took off her jacket and white shirt. Once her shirt was off, her cream bra was showing, though not for long as she slid her coat back on. She ripped her shirt into strips before looking at the woman, avoiding looking at anything other than her face.
"Want me to wrap that? The rain's washing the blood, but it can still get infected." Sarah knew she wasn't going to touch the woman without permission, but she also knew she'd let the woman do it herself if need be.
As Nate smiled, Sarah's laughter started to die. She had missed what he said, but it didn't matter at the moment. She could put pieces together if it was. Or just ask him to repeat.
>>"Parker sort of grew on me after a weird night with a mutant that spawned mutant spiders. He needed a home, and my night was weird enough as it was, so I kept him."
As soon as he had said the word mutant her mind was in focus. She had heard of mutants who hated humans, but his words seemed to mean he and the mutant were on okay terms.
"Must have been some night," she smiled warily. She still trusted him, but her mind was wandering.
>>"Say hi and apologies to the nice young woman."
Sarah's brown gaze turned to the spider in shock. Parker had did a sort of bowing motion that made Sarah's laughter return. She was giggling quietly this time. Though, she was sure Nate could hear it.
>>"There, that was probably a sorry, right? Is everything okay now?"
Sarah nodded as her giggles turned into another smile. "I do believe Parker is beginning to grow on me." It shocked her as she said it, but it was true. "And yes, everything is okay. I guess... Well, I have a horrible fear of spiders. Have since I was little."
She was very shocked to find that she could move again. It had been her impression that spiders made her immobile. Then again, she had been speaking for a bit now. She smiled softly at Parker before looking back at Nate.
"This may seem strange of me to ask, but are you okay? I forgot to ask you earlier, but you seemed a bit, well, sad." She hoped she wasn't being too forward, but she wanted to help if she could.
Sarah crouched quietly. The only sound was her breathing and the natural forest sounds. Her brothers bow was in one hand, an arrow notched in the other. She let out a puff of carbon dioxide before pulling back the string as she aimed at the deer that had just entered her line of sight.
On her next exhale, she released her arrow.
She watched as it sailed through the air as it went towards her target. Then suddenly, it hit. The deer was down. She had made her kill.
Sarah slung her bow onto her shoulder as she started to climb down from her perch in a tree. By the time she was on the ground, Eric was already pulling the arrow out of the deer and starting to pick up the carcass.
"Had to pick the big one didn't you?" her brother teased.
Sarah smiled before getting ready to lead them back to the campsite. When she turned, she caught site of something at the base of the tree she had climbed down. She stopped and just stared at what ever it was. For some reason she thought that it smirked at her.
"You go ahead. I wanna check something," Sarah stated with some uncertainty.
She wasn't sure exactly what was in the woods. However, there was something pulling her towards the shadowy figure.
"Sure, whatever, just be back before dark. You know mom worries," Eric told her as he walked off.
After she was sure he was gone, Sarah moved to follow after the figure she had seen. Her mind was screaming at her BAD IDEA! BAD IDEA! but she wasn't listening.
The day had been full of fishing, eating, story telling, and fun. Sarah's first day back in Washington was great. However, there was a lingering feeling in her stomach that made her want to go back to the city. It felt strange to her. The whole time she had been in New York City she had been missing the forests and natural presence of, what Sarah could only describe as, Mother Earth.
Perhaps it was just her tribal blood in her that missed for the forests of Washington. However, there was now another part of her that wanted back in the city. It confused her to feel the way she did. She hadn't felt so separated since she decided to become an artist.
Sarah wondered, as she laid in her sleeping bag, if the part of her that wanted to be back in NYC was her father's blood. As soon as the thought entered her mind it was dismissed. Her father loved the forest as much as her mother. There must have been a part of her that had come to think of the new city as her home. The part of her that wanted to come on the family trip was only missing her family.
With a sigh of relief, Sarah snuggled into her blue sleeping bag before fading into the black of sleep. Her mind and body were too tired to think at the moment.
The quiet of the camp was interrupted by a scream of victory and a groan of defeat. The scream was Sarah's. The groan was Eric's.
It was a tradition between the two. The first one to catch a fish didn't have to gut or scale the fish that were caught. The first time it had been done had been when Eric wanted out of the chore. He won that day, but the next was little Sarah's victory. The two made it tradition since.
"Sounds like you're having fun," Sarah's dad stated as his daughter finished her happy dance.
"Very! It's my first full day back and I don't have fish cleaning duty!"
Mrs. Jackson laughed as her daughter went back to continue fishing. Eric was grumpy as he stood ten feet from his sister, but his mood changed when he caught a fish, much larger than his sisters. The fish then continued to be reeled in. It got to where Eric stopped fishing so he could start cleaning.
Sarah watched Nate after he confirmed her question. She wasn't sure what she was looking for. A sign he was crazy? Maybe...
>>"Yeah, I guess you've noticed, but he's sort of a... well, with the legs and all... um, I'm sorry I didn't mention Parker was a big spider?"
After he spoke, the brunette had the urge to laugh. Instead of being polite, her still muddled mind let go. She laughed. 'Well, it's more of a giggle,' a part of her stated.
She knew she probably looked weird, laughing and all. It was just... To her the way Nate had spoken made him sound so confused. It was so strange to her, that she just laughed. A part of her wondered if it was just the pent up fear escaping, but that didn't stop her from laughing.
"I'm sorry," Sarah apologized through her laughter. "It's just... giggles And you... giggles I just thought..." She couldn't seem to create a straight sentence.
>>“How’s your shoulder? Getting shot’s nasty business. Need a doctor?”
'My shoulder?' Sarah thought as she inspected the area herself. Now that she was paying more attention to her injury, she realized it was slightly worse than she thought. The bullet had ripped a large amount of tissue from her shoulder. The injury was nasty. She did need medical attention.
The brunette almost told the other female that she was fine, but stopped. She hadn't found a doctor in the city yet. Another thing, her job didn't have medical. She would need to swallow her pride on this one.
"You know a good one?" she asked.
She put a slightly joking tone in her voice, hoping to make the injury seem less than it was. She knew, however, that as soon as they stepped in light it would be out. She could feel her shirt stick to her with the sticky substance of blood.
The person she saw was shadowed a little, but there were pieces of their body Sarah could see. The pieces she could pick out seemed to be tinted purple. It was a strange thing, but Sarah instantly remembered that she had seen many strange this since moving to New York.
>>"I'm sorry, you startled me. Can I help you?"
Sarah laughed lightly. "You actually startled me too. I didn't really want anything. I was just wondering if there was anyone else up here." Sarah thought for a moment. "Do you need to be alone? I can go back down to my apartment if you want."
Sarah cringed inwardly. She had been doing well with her shadow practice and wanted to continue, but she would leave if they wanted her to. The type of lighting she wanted for practice was fading every moment she stood talking, but she stayed where she was. Whoever was up here seemed to be alone and she couldn't get into much trouble with one person could she?
Sarah finally got up. She looked around her tent and saw that her brother was standing above her. "Fishing time?"
Eric nodded. Sarah nodded back and raised her hand. Her brother smiled and grabbed her outstretched hand. With a quick pull, she was on her feet.
"Let me get dressed and I'll be ready," Sarah whispered.
Eric smiled and left the tent. Sarah stretched before leaving for the day. She went into the designated changing area and changed into some clothes that were alright to get wet.
Sarah stood at the top of the hill the trail used to enter the campsite. The camp was typical. There were two tents: one for males and one for females. In the middle of the camp was a fire pit with chairs surrounding it. There were two table structures with the chairs. Sarah's father and brother were working on creating a changing area for them further from the fire pit.
Sarah smiled from her perch before hiking back down to help her mother prepare dinner. The camping trip was just what Sarah needed. The city had zapped her of all her energy and the break was wonderful.
'Maybe I can find someone in the city who'll go camping with me.'
Glee filled Sarah as she saw the river bank they would be camping on. With a glance at her brother, she pushed herself to run to the bank. She threw Eric a smirk before noticing that he was right on her tail. She laughed as she pushed her legs fast, getting to the bank just a second before her brother.
"You got a head start," Eric huffed.
"You have longer legs," she gasped out.
Eric shook his head. "You walk more," he tried.
Sarah laughed. "Don't even try that! I walk in high heels! Hurts the calves more than it builds endurance," she teased.
"Maybe I should wear heels to work," their dad interrupted.
The two offspring turned to look at their father. They took one look at his serious face and burst with laughter. As they laughed their Native American mother joined in. Their father grinned as he watched his children.
