The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“This is utterly ridiculous.”
Andrew stood at the door to the kitchens wielding a sheet pan like a weapon. He probably looked very absurd however Andrew had a perfectly viable reason as to why he was standing in the doorway of the kitchen using a sheet pan as a weapon. In a place full of mutants anything can happen and that anything came in the form of a monstrous and monstrously huge blob of seemingly sentient dough. Andrew had suspicions as to the cause but right now he couldn’t do anything about it. The culprit had wandered off before he could get them to reverse the damage. Or heck maybe they couldn’t reverse it and had just decided to get out of there before things got this bad.
In either case a rather spacey student had come into the kitchens while he was working with the dough for some bread he was intending to bake. Andrew didn’t like it but he didn’t tell her to get out either. She hadn’t really seemed to notice him at all. Her eyes and hair were a light blue color and she seemed to be about fifteen. While he worked on his bread she spent the majority of her time talking to the air, or at least seeming to. Right before the bread had risen to its mammoth proportions and turned on the baker, a.k.a Andrew, she’d uttered one word in the same other worldly unconcerned voice as she’d said everything else.
“Oops!”
If he could reach it Andrew would grab the salt and cover the thing in it. He had a hunch she’d done something to the yeast. What else would make it rise that much? Salting it would help inhibit the yeast. However he’d been literally thrown out of the kitchen just moments after he’d grabbed the sheet pan and thus couldn’t reach said item. So here he was trying to keep a gigantic loaf of unbaked bread in the kitchen to minimize damage. Any students that had been in the area had already fled. None of them apparently felt up to tackling a rampaging foodstuff. For the moment he was alone in the hallway swinging a sheet pan into the kitchen doorway in an effort to keep the bread beast back.

A grin crossed Andrew's face at Jorge's remarks about him being good but needing some practice and polish.
"Gonna need a lot of polish then."
Andrew stowed his own gloves and such in his bag. He was wiped out. Jorge suggested they go get something to eat and Andrew's stomach informed him that it agreed with that idea.
"Yeah that sounds like a good idea."
Andrew quickly traded out his tank top for the shirt he'd worn to the gym. The tank and empty water bottle went into the bag to keep his gloves and pair of pants company. Of course Andrew hadn't forgotten his usual glove and that went on his left hand as per normal.
"Thanks for this Jorge. Somehow, I think I'll be needing it."
Call it a hunch based on his current circumstances and future goals. Learning how to defend himself, and by extension others, couldn't hurt at all.

EDIT: All full up! EDIT 2: Thread is here! Attention any Mansion Dwellers or visitors to the Mansion!
Would you like to fight a rampaging monster made entirely of bread dough? If so then this thread will be for you!
Set the day before Halloween, Andrew will be baking some bread in the mansion kitchen when a microbe manipulating mutant turns the unbaked bread into a huge, sentient dough monster.
Whether this is done by accident or on purpose I leave up to you. State below whether you'll be participating and whether you think the dough monster came about because of an accident by a student at the mansion or a bit of pre-Halloween pranking by said student. Same goes for questions.

His shoulder rose and fell in a shrug. That was a possibility. Perhaps he'd find a use for his mutation somewhere down the road. It was doubtful but you never knew. Stranger things had already happened to him after all. Andrew was inclined to wonder about Gawain's statement about relating to having a useless mutation. Mirror-walking didn't seem that useless but perhaps there were other components to it.
Kate cleared up why she needed the gloves for Gawain, though it had the effect of lending reason to some of her earlier actions for Andrew as well. Details like that were interesting and provided information on the downsides of someone's power. That's why he tended not to mention the effect his promises had on him other than just that he had to keep him. Making a promise affected his behavior and ways of thinking. And even though he knew that it was difficult to overcome. Like knowing that you had handcuffs on didn't get you out of them.
Tagging along silently like this gave Andrew time to think. There was a lot to think about. With Gawain handling the paperwork and Kate answering his questions Andrew was quite free to do as he pleased. He contemplated what to bake next and then followed that up with wonderings about his next boxing session with Jorge. Then he turned his attention to the walls and anything hanging on them. Andrew just followed along, allowing his mind to wander where it would.

Now it turned into something resembling a real fight. The two wheeled about, each throwing punches and feints to test and try the other. Andrew was exhausted but he kept going for the sake of the exercise. He kept up his defense as best he could and used what Jorge had taught him and was teaching him at that very moment. However what little energy he had left was dropping quickly. Andrew just would not be able to go on much longer.
That was when Jorge struck with a combination of moves that Andrew didn't really catch well enough to figure out what they were. A punch landed solidly on his cheek, knocking him backward some what. As much as he wanted to continue Andrew just couldn't hold out anymore. If he did he'd just be making himself a punching bag for Jorge. He left his guard down and looked at Jorge with exhaustion.
"I'm done."
Andrew didn't hold anything against the cop so there was no bitterness to the statement. You had to take your lumps sometimes. Especially when you were learning to box. The rest of the gym suddenly seemed to exist once more as Andrew hopped out of the ring and headed over to the bench to take off his gloves and take a drink of water. For a first effort Andrew figured he'd done fairly well. He obviously needed to improve in certain areas. Punches were getting through his defenses more often than he'd like and stamina was an issue. He needed to build up a greater reserve of stamina and figure out just how much energy to use in the first place. For now though that water tasted pretty good as he sat on the bench and recovered from the impromptu bout.

Andrew just rolled his eyes and grinned. Gawain had probably had to reach to find something good about his power.
"No need to try and find something good to say about it. I'm well aware that it does me no good."
Kate once again described her power and Andrew remembered again that he had it easier than her in some ways. At least he only had to worry about hurting himself. The more useful mutations often coincided with the more dangerous ones. There were arguments for both sides Andrew supposed. However he wasn't about to enter a mental debate with himself over which sort of power would be best. Even if he won he'd also lose.
Bah, Andrew decided to just stop thinking about it. He glanced around a bit and settled on watching Gawain and Kate. This was primarily her thing anyway. Andrew had already been through this with Kealey. Wasn't much he could add to this portion of the conversation.

The brief respite he earned with the punch to Jorge's jaw Andrew used to regain the breath he'd lost from that last attack. Considering it was his first time at this Andrew thought he was doing incredibly well. He'd always been good at learning. The problem would come when he was called upon to use it in the real world. Outside of this ring his opponents wouldn't be as kind as Jorge. They wouldn't hold back so he could learn. If Andrew used this outside this ring the people he used it again would be trying to injure him or worse.
Andrew planted his mind firmly back on the fight and on Jorge. He was moving around again. He was getting tired but he did his best to keep up with Jorge. Jorge didn't seem like he was going to attack yet. Merely keep Andrew moving to wear him out. It was working too. By the time Jorge finally unleashed his barrage Andrew was too worn to do much about it.
He managed to block the jabs, sloppily though. The third punch impacted and knocked Andrew for a loop. For a few moments he didn't know which way was up. He tried to keep his guard up as best he could but that was difficult when his head was spinning. After a couple of precious minutes, that a less kind opponent would have taken advantage of, Andrew finally managed to put up a decent guard again and nodded to Jorge that he was ready to continue.

Andrew just kept on smiling. Kealey was a wonderful lady and Andrew was definitely glad he'd met her. If that meant putting himself at a little more risk and having to learn to handle himself then Andrew found that he was ok with that. She proclaimed herself an open book. Honestly that worked to Andrew's advantage.
Yeah it wasn't easy handling the things her observations brought up but it was better than just letting them sit. He needed to grow a backbone sometime. Kealey mentioned that the gift had gone over well and the look on her face said maybe it was a bit of an understatement.
"I'm glad Shin liked it then."
When she told him the only thing left to discuss Andrew laughed.
"Well, I don't have much else to do today. So, it's do nothing or watch a pretty lady and a good friend eat my baking or nothing. I think I can sit around here a while."
He leaned back in the chair, ready to sit back and spend some time with Kealey as she ate. Not a bad way to spend some time, in Andrew's humble opinion.

Andrew sort of tuned out the rest of the tour out. He'd been there done that already. Though Gawain made much shorter work of it than Kealey had. Everyone had their own style though. Gawain would probably have taken more time if Andrew hadn't been there. Kate was good looking and Gawain seemed the sort that would acknowledge that and probably flirt a bit. At least that's what he guessed those charming smiles he'd thrown Kate's way in the kitchen were about.
He did notice that Kate was confused about a few things Gawain said though. Andrew figured that Gawain was probably too young for the booze he'd mentioned too but he didn't say anything about it.
"Booze means alcohol." he said for Kate's benefit.
They got back to the offices and apparently Sam wasn't in. Gawain however had a suspicion of where he might be where as Andrew had no clue. Still, he had the papers necessary and began on the questions. Before Andrew answered in regards to himself he once again cleared things up for Kate.
"He means what is your mutation." Andrew paused for a moment to look back toward Gawain, "I make promises. If I don't keep them it means pain, injury, possibly death if the promises is worth enough, and I get a tattoo-like reminder of each promise currently in effect."
Andrew pulled off his glove to show the single black band around his wrist. He didn't say what the promise was or anything else before he pulled the glove back on.

Ahorta was correct in her observations on the human race. At least Andrew believed she was. Humans had a history of killing and/or oppress anything or anyone they didn't understand. It was why he feared them knowing of his mutation. It was why he'd spent four years as a stranger amidst the crowds of people. Andrew finished putting away his groceries just in time to return to the main room and have Ahorta ask him what happens when he broke a promise.
"Pain. Sometimes injury. It depends on the promise. I could probably die if the promise were severe enough."
Andrew turned around and yanked the right side of his shirt up far enough that Ahorta could see a very nasty scar, jagged and still fresh looking, on his back near his right shoulder. He turned back around.
"That's the worst one to date. I made a bad promise by accident. I didn't keep it and that was the result."
He sort of hoped that she didn't ask to see it in action. Coming up with a promise on the fly that was important enough to cause damage was difficult. Besides, he really didn't like making promises to begin with. He had exactly one at the moment and he refused to break it.

Andrew sort of chuckled. It was hard to dislike this Gawain. He was too friendly. As a bonus he could take care of part of the check in process for Kate! Well that made things loads easier. Andrew grabbed another bottle of water out of the fridge for himself and watched as Kate repeated the process she'd done earlier. Andrew rolled with it, having seen her do this particular little ritual once already. Gawain on the other hand seemed sort of curious. It was an odd thing to do, Andrew would give him that.
Gawain walked right into a mirror on the wall instead of using the doorway. So that was how he'd showed up like that. A mirror-walking mutant wasn't something he'd thought of before. Then again neither was a woman with acid bones or a girl who could shift into dinosaurs. Mutants really could have some strange powers.
"Where to then?"
Andrew queried with a raised eyebrow. It wasn't like they could use the mirror like Gawain did after all.

It wasn't through any particular talent that Andrew was doing well. It was simply that he refused to let himself do poorly. The conviction he usually applied to studying that had him working every day until he was fully versed in any particular subject was being used for this. His teachers in high school had loved him for the amount of effort he put forth. Andrew was no genius but he was decently intelligent and he used that. In this situation it helped.
Jorge kept grinning and praised him again. Once again the commentary fell on deaf ears. Andrew was still watching and waiting. As Jorge moved so did he. Keep your opponent in front of you. Don't take your eyes off of him for a second. Andrew weathered the jabs that Jorge threw. The man was moving around far too much. Inexperienced as he was it was difficult to keep up with.
Some of the jabs slipped in. Most did not. Andrew blocked the two left jabs easily enough but the low right body blow he was unprepared for. It connected solidly and knocked some of the wind out of Andrew. Trying to take advantage of the opening left by the blow Andrew threw his own right punch, aimed at Jorge's jaw. The blow didn't have as much power behind it as the previous two punches he'd thrown but Jorge had said to take advantage of any openings he could see.

Andrew gave a nod in response to Gawain's 'nice to meet you' while they shook hands. Well at least he'd met another of the Mansion dwellers now. When Gawain asked whether or not they had plans Andrew spoke up again.
"I was just gonna take her around a few more rooms and then see what I couldn't do about finding someone to get Kate signed in. You're welcome to join us if you've nothing better to do."
Though Andrew didn't know how long Gawain had been around the Mansion it was still longer than Andrew had. Thus he'd be quite a bit of help as far as the tour when. Plus he seemed to be quite opening and charming. He'd probably keep Kate a lot more entertained than Andrew could. Realizing he hadn't actually replied to Kate since Gawain had made his entrance Andrew turned back to her with a smile.

It turned out that he was right about her eating. It was related to her mutation. That sort of sucked. Then she dove into answering his second question. Wow. That was pretty much the word that was buzzing around Andrew's mind. He had it good compared to that. What did you say to something like that? Andrew was just about to try and say something when a voice responded for him in what Andrew figured was a much smoother answer than he would have given. He tried not to jump but sadly failed as his shoulders jerked with surprise at the sudden appearance of the other guy.
Wait a second...where the heck had he come from?!
His mind ran in circles before he remembered that he was in a mansion full of mutants and the boy could have come from anywhere. Duh, Andrew. Now introduce yourself to the boy before you look even more like an idiot.
"Nice to meet you Gawain. I'm Andrew. I'm still pretty new here. Kate there just showed up and I was showing her around."
Why was everyone he met here ten times better at anything remotely social than he was? It really wasn't that fair. Surely there had to be someone else around here who had no idea what to do or say around strangers.
