The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“Alright, I’m coming,” Sara told the little girl. “Hey Starling, Why don’t we show them the little theater, with the stage set that we painted a few months ago, with your class.”
Starling nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! We painted lots of props! Cloud puffs and doors and berry bushes and pirate hats and giant jelly beans!"
Iris fell into step next to Garrett as her daughter pulled the other two along with her.
“If there is something you wish to see while we are passing through the halls, just ask.” Iris nodded agreement with her fellow teacher. She pointed out some of the classes still in session as they passed, and waved to the students they passed in the halls.
”Do you have any specific questions about us?” Sara asked as they approached the theater. Iris giggled a bit as Peter missed the question due to his staring. She was going to enjoy teasing Sara for a bit after this mission. Starling let go of their hands and hurried up to the stage, where a few of the older kids were working. A couple of them paused for a bit to converse with the little girl they babysat once in a while.
" I believe the lady asked you a question." Garrett snapped his fingers to get his friend's attention.
" Oh, yeah. Um, isn't this place a little busy for the door? I can do it anywhere, but I'd hate for one of your human kids to accidentally end up on the wrong side of the planet."
Iris glanced around and spotted the door Sara had mentioned. The mobile set it was attached to wasn't in use at the moment, and had been wheeled to the edge of the stage.
"Hey Jill?" The teenager talking with Starling looked up. "Are you going to be using that bit of set anytime soon?"
Jill twisted to look in the proper direction, then shook her head. "Nope. It's logged for tear-down and storage."
"Thanks, hon." Iris grinned at the Garrett and Peter. "There's your answer. If it needs to be actually attached somewhere, I'm sure Headmaster Csendes can find somewhere quiet to set it up."

“Warming up does sound good, at least to me. Perhaps I can coax you in out of your element with a cup of coffee? My treat.”
A small smile made its way onto Iris's mouth. "Sure, why not? I'll probably need it soon anyway." she replied.
Before they headed toward the street, she turned and gave the rainy eve one last look. She saw a couple standing beneath an umbrella a ways off; she wasn't the only one enjoying the dreary night. And somehow, seeing the pair together hit a warm spot somewhere inside. Why couldn't everyone get along that well?
She returned her attention back to Sebastian and caught up to him again.
"I hope you don't mind me being nosey, Mr. Csendes. I know why I'm here. But what brings you out on a night like this? Most people think nights like this are dreary."
The rain splashing on her face felt wonderful, but she thought he might not enjoy the drenching like she did. Since she didn't have an umbrella to offer, she did the next best thing. As they walked, she manipulated the falling droplets so that they fell around and away from Sebastian once more, leaving him at least partially dry.

"I think I'll pick.... the tattooed man with the red hair."
"Acknowledged."
The three rejects retook their places behind the wall, while Nika's chosen opponent moved forward into the cage. His body mass easily doubled Nika's, closing in on triple, though he only stood three inches taller. Though he wore no shirt, tattoos covered him like one.
"Fighters, take your positions."
He took a defensive stance, both bare fists up in a boxer's pose, shuffling from foot to foot.
The cage door slammed closed, signaling the start of the fight. The robot made the first move, jabbing a fist out experimentally.

Iris shook her head as the red-and-black haired manipulator twisted her words completely around.
"Heh. You're good, Syn. I'll give you that. That tongue of yours is a deadly weapon in its own right." No hint of compliment entered her tone in that statement.
"I'm not going to argue with you. You'll just twist whatever I say. I'm not perfect. I never claimed to be. Maybe I do have a darker side. Everyone probably does. But it has nothing to do with my heart."
She opened her eyes a slit, still focused on the ground, and backed away a couple more steps.
"Keep your warped plans to yourself. I'm not going to let you pull me into them again."

"Trust me Iris, you don't want to know what I'm fully capable of doing."
"That makes two things we agree on, then," Iris snipped. Hoping Syn would vanish had been wishful thinking, but at least now they were away from people. She still kept her distance from the younger woman, and avoided eye contact.
"Now, as for comparing me to being the same as the humans...you've gotta be joking. Their little Registration Act pales in comparison to what I can do. They are weak and need to be swept off the face of the planet."
That statement sent a chill down her spine.
"I doubt even your friends the X-Men will be able to fathom the thought of a planet free of humans. You and all those in the mansion are pathetic."
"Who would want to?" Iris couldn't imagine a world without her Tia and Tio. She didn't even want to consider it. "And yes, you are the same. They want to kill you off, you want to kill them off. The world would be better off if you all just picked an island and fought among yourselves. Then we'd be rid of all of you!"
Adrenaline raced through her system, feeding the heat in her back. Iris stopped at the edge of the alley, and closed her eyes. She had to calm down. Syn was baiting her, she knew, and Iris was falling for it. She had to keep herself rational. She was stronger now, physically and mentally. She had to stay focused.
"If not wanting to kill someone because they are blind makes me pathetic, then I can live with that. In the end, all they can hurt is themselves."

*strikes a pose* The power is yours!!
*looks around, clears throat, twiddles with hair....*
I'm glad to hear so much enthusiasm. I agree a miniplot would be more fun than a main plot, though having both run simultaneous might prove a bit complicated.
After reading everything everyone suggested, I think I like Calley's third option best, where characters have to seek each other out. I think Zeph's idea if a few gender switches would be hilariously wonderful as well.
I'll toss in one of the Twins for sure. I'm beginning to enjoy splitting them up in various ways. lol Neena, too. If it gets large, I'll offer Iris as well, though she might prove even more complicated for whoever ends up with her. ><

"Yes, Iris. We are all mutants. One hundred and sixty three at the last census."
"That's impressive," Iris replied happily.
"We all work in harmony there, free from the strife and fear that humanity has tried to instill in us over the years. We are completely self-sufficient and require minimal assistance from the outside world. It gives us a clear sense of independence and worth, not only as a people, but as a species."
"I'm glad you've found a way to work together peacefully," she commended, diplomatically avoiding the 'species' remark.
She'd struggled with defining mutants as separate from humans for years. In her year of working at PAX, she stopped fighting, and come to see them all as the same family of beings. However, given her own experience, she couldn't fault any mutant for wanting to separate themselves in the way the Colony had. No one was harmed, physically, in the separation.
It did remind her of her and Sara's secondary mission, though.
“Well once we get where we are going, I might look more familiar. I’m ready. I’ll just follow you guys.”
Sara's remark brought Iris around, and she looked to Garrett for direction as he turned toward his companion.
" Pete. You still with us?"
The younger man nodded his head. "Yeah, yeah. I am here. Where is the door going?"
"I believe you two are versed in my mutation. Peter here can create spatial portals, or doors, which we can use to step to the Colony without any flights or baggage checks."
"Perfect." Iris smiled down at Starling, knowing the little girl was itching to be out of her coat. However, the little one was staring up at her mother, with the most fascinated look on her face.
"We just need a door we could use for the portal," Garret was saying. "One that we could use permanently in the future would be best, however. Perhaps we could have a look around here and you could explain more of your end while we walk?"
Iris opened her mouth to reply, when Starling suddenly blurted out, "Why are you so happy?" to the men. Her mother blinked. She reached up to pull a bit of her hair forward, and saw it turning a very interesting shade of bluish-purple.
<"Oh dear...."> she thought to herself. That purple color could only mean one thing, she was fairly sure the emotion she was picking up on wasn't coming from Garrett. She glanced at Sara, who would know exactly what that color meant.
Aloud, she kept it simple. "Old friends sometimes get very happy to see each other when they've been apart a long time, Sweetpea. It's nothing unusual." Heh.... "Why don't we give them the tour of your school, and then we can go?"
The little girl stared at the two men suspiciously, not completely buying her mother's excuse.
"Here, Sweetpea, let me have your coat for a moment. I think that button is stuck."
Relief from the winter coat's heat sealed the deal, and the little girl immediately shrugged out of her vestment. Then she reached forward to grab Peter's hand, then Sara's, and began tugging toward the Academy.
With the girl's back turned, Iris turned toward Garret, whispered, "I'll explain later," and motioned to follow the leading trio.

“Nice to meet you Ms. Belamount. If I had wanted to stay dry, or be a living page from an alphabet book, I would have brought an umbrella.”
Iris chuckled. "No offense, but if you were a bit more horse-like, with that horn and tail of yours you'd make an amusing alphabet book entry. U stands for Unicorn, carrying an umbrella. Oh what a lucky fella!"
She had no clue how close she was with the unicorn comment. It just seemed to fit his remark.
“Nor would I expect to find company on an evening like this. I suppose the weather brings out the solitary thinkers and the solitary thinkers attract the attention of thieves and cutthroats who prey on the innocent.”
"Not all solitary thinkers are innocent," she replied quietly, her gaze drifting slightly sideways into the dark. She hadn't really intended to answer out loud, as it was merely a passing thought with no meaning. She shook her head and refocused on her horned acquaintance.
I suppose standing in the rain has lost its appeal."
So it did. She smiled and closed her eyes, enjoying the feel of it beat on her face.
"Perhaps we should move to somewhere safer."
A shame Sebastian disagreed. Ah well.
"What do you think we should do about him?”
Iris opened her eyes and tilted her head toward the prone mugger. For a moment she just looked. It would be so easy to leave him there. Just walk away, never look back. If she were on her own, or even under the influence of a different facet of her mutation, she'd do just that. It was so easy to just turn your back on someone you don't know, or someone who's done you wrong.
She sighed, walked over to the man, and knelt by his head. She felt for a pulse, and found it strong and steady.
She held out her hand, palm down. The rain once more seemed to take on a mind of its own, pooling beneath the thug's body. He was lifted several inches above the ground. With a gentle wave, the blob moved, along with its burden, to a nearby tree, and flipped over slowly, leaving the man on his back, partially shielded from the downpour.
"He'll be fine," she remarked blandly, then turned to her fellow mutant. "If you're looking to dry off and warm up, there's a cafe about a block that way. We can walk it fairly quickly."
Though she wasn't really keen on the idea of leaving her namesake behind, she did need to find someplace quiet, before her gem deactivated on its own, and she passed out.

Iris nodded, after glancing at Sara, in response to the question about everyone being mutants.
"I think we're all ready. Right?"
"Yes," Starling piped up, eager to get where they were going, so she could divest herself of her puffy parka. As an afterthought, she glanced at the two men and added, "Please," then looked back at her mother.
"Thank you very much for allowing us to see your home," Iris told them, a bit formally. "I've heard its very beautiful."
Thinking Garrett's question, and Headmaster Csendes' mission outline, she made another inquiry. "So, everyone there is a mutant?"

“I don't mean to be rude, but I don't recall having met you before.”
Was he being rude? Iris certainly didn't think so. Though in her current state of mind he could be and she wouldn't care much.
“Perhaps we should have another introduction, to jog my faulty memory. I am Sebastian Csendes.”
An amused expression crossed her dripping face, somewhat obscured by her hair, when he bowed and kissed her hand. His gentlemanly demeanor struck her as completely out of place with modern.... correction, 'local' society.
She inclined her head as a less formal gesture. "Iris Belamount."
She took a closer look, and spotted the small horn in the middle of the man's forehead. Her eyes flicked downward again. A horn and a tail? That was a unique combination, even by mutant standards.
She realized that she was the one being rude now, by staring. "Sorry." She released her hold on the rainfall, allowing it to return to its natural path.
.... And idly came to the conclusion that dumping the water back on him like that probably didn't fall in the 'polite' category either.
"Erm.... Sorry about that," she apologized again.
"Thank you for the help. I was just thinking. Wasn't expect company on a night like this." She took a deep breath, then smiled slightly. "Guess I should know better, huh?"

" Wow, Gary, I haven't seen two women blow you off so quick in a while. Losing your touch?"
" Well, Pete, that's because I am taken. Women can see that kind of thing on a man. That's why I never dated in Med School. My heart has always belonged to Maya. Still does."[/i][/color]
"Ha ha." Iris wrinkled her nose in amusement at the flip comments. "A pleasure to see you again, too, Doctor Wills." She shuffled her bag out of the way in order to give her friend a puffy-armed hug. Then she stepped back and gave them both a half-bow.
"Sorry we're late. My fault, as usual. I hope you weren't waiting too long." Years earlier, such an admission would have been accompanied by an embarrassed grimace. Now it simply came with honest apology, and a smile.
"This is my friend, Sara Nobes, PAX's English and Art teacher." She turned to introduce her companion.
"And this is my daughter, Starling." She placed her hand on the back of the little girl's coat proudly, despite the grumpy frown on her face.
"Hi," she grumbled.
"Sara, Star, this is my friend Garrett Wills. And...." She raised her eyebrows at the younger man, inviting him to finish her introduction.
Starling began fiddling with her coat, stealthily pulling the zipper further and further down, in attempt to rid herself of its burden. She got it about halfway down when Iris noticed, and reached down to pull it back up. The raven-haired child, crossed her arms in a pout.

Iris shook her head as the knife-wielder made a very sloppy attack, disappeared into the curtain of rain, abandoning his supposed friend. 'Friend' being used loosely.
“That could have gone much worse."
Iris shook off her cards, glad they were laminated.
"Thank you for knocking his aim off. It would not have been much fun to get shot.”
"I'll bet." She returned them to her pocket, then turned to give her 'savior'. "You're welcome."
She pushed the soaked hair out of her face, blinking away the water. The rain obstructed her view of him, which elicited a feeling of annoyance. So she reached out to push the dripping liquid away from him, leaving him completely dry, and her able to see clearly. She tilted her head and frowned.

Iris's eyes drifted sideways as a third figure materialized out of the rain.
“You heard the lady. Give back the things you took and get out of here.”
Well, at least this one was on her side. Maybe. Wait.... Was that a tail??
She tilted her head away from her assailants and craned her neck to see. Yes, it was indeed a tail. White and bedraggled from the rain, and oddly lion-like, but definitely a tail. So that likely meant he was-
"A mutant!"
She turned sharply back toward the muggers. Yeah, that's exactly what she was thinking. It didn't bother her as much as it seemed to bother the two thieves, however.
The gunman swung his weapon toward the newcomer, while the other one started yelling, "Kill it! Kill it!" Iris snorted, thinking he sounded like a housewife that just stumbled across a mouse or spider.
There could be a much larger mess, however, if this continued. She reacted out of instinct, more than anything. Before he could full twist and shoot, the mindless rainfall seemed to develop intelligence. A watery sheet solidified and slapped wetly across his wrists, knocking the shot well off-target. A second hit slammed across his face, with enough force to spin him around and lay him out on the ground.
Both the gun and Iris's belongings scattered. She grumbled, and moved forward to retrieve them, glancing sideways to see how Mr. Tail Man was handling Mugger Number Two.
Something about Mr. Tail Man sure seemed familiar....

"Hand out of your pockets, princess."
Iris regarded the man pointing a small handgun at her. Very deliberately she turned around, and held her hands away from her body obediently. The man nodded his head sharply to the right.
"Search her."
Her eyes flicked slowly sideways as another figure appeared from the drenched shadows. This one held a short blade, and smirked at her.
"Don't move, and this will go much faster."
He approached, and began fishing through her pockets, and patting down her body, a rougher version of a cop frisk. Her eyes drifted back toward the one in front of her holding the gun. He looked to be close to her height; this city sure seemed to house some tall men. She wasn't used to being able to look people in the eye, or look up. The one going through her stuff was shorter than her, and leanly built. And he kept twitching....
"Not much here. Just a couple cards and a phone. No cash."
Iris rolled her eyes. After the kidnapping, she'd taken to only carrying her ID and a couple credit cards, and a bit of cash for food. They were easier to keep track of.
The first one swore. "Fine. Keep the cards. Dump the phone."
"Don't do that." Both men stared at her. The second sneered, and approached her again. Short though he was, he stood on his tiptoes to hold his knife in her face menacingly.
"You don't have a say, lady. You'd better be glad we're leaving you alive."
She blinked at him. A yawn abruptly made its involuntary way out of her mouth. "Sorry," she mumbled. "Can't help it. Can I have my stuff back now?"
The man laughed in her face, and she grimaced. Rank breath. The two men laughed, obviously thinking she was joking. After all, what was one unarmed woman to two armed assailants?
"Maybe we should rough her up a bit," the short mugger suggested. "Remind her who's turf she's on."
The first grinned, revealing teeth that were in serious need of a dentist.
"Ugh.... this is so cliche'...." Iris shook her head. Had she been her normal frame of mind, she'd probably be shaking in her shoes right then. But under the tanzanite's effect, the only thing these two bozos were accomplishing was getting on her nerves.
"Just give me stuff back, fellas. I'm getting tired over here."

"Crystal? I'd like to do some training today."
Crystal Version 8.3, aka Crys, swirled into existence at Nika's request.
"Hello, Miss Nika," the hologram greeted in a much more formal tone than her original predecessor. "How may I be of assistance?"
"I would like a cage style setting. You know, like what they have in the Ultimate Fighting Championship matches."
The blond image nodded. "Yes, Miss Nika. One moment, please."
The image disappeared, and the Danger Room whirred to life. A wrestling platform began to raise from the floor beneath the catgirl's feet. A metal fencing emerged from withing the platform, encircling it on all four sides.
From the sides of the room, four doors opened, and four robots emerged, holocameras blinking into life to give them a humanoid likeness. The four fighters ranged the racial spectrum in appearance; caucasian with long dirty-blond dreadlocks, shaggy redhead with mustache, beard and numerous tattoes, dark-skinned with buzz-cut platinum blond hair and goatee, and oriental with clean-shaven face and bright green eyes. They also ranged the scale from tall to short, as well as bulky and muscular to wiry.
"Please choose your opponent and difficulty level," Crys requested.
