The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

((Info: Time: Around 5:00pm, Location: Times Square, NYC. The Resistance arrived in three unremarkable vans, each set a half to a block away, down three separate streets to avoid suspicion. All members have an earphone and a small microphone attached to keep in communication with the others, and to coordinate the attack. Also, Pulse Rifles have been issued which will take down a Stalker's shield for five minutes, have a range of 100ft, though the time between shots is considerable.))
The sun was shining brightly in the clear blue sky. Men, women, and children were going about their day normally; laughing and joking. Heading home after a long day's work, ready to relax with family and friends alike.
None would have expected that their care free day would soon become hell on Earth. For in the shadows, the Mutant resistance waited, making final preperations for their strike. The Stalker patrol would soon be making it's way into Times Square. From the gathered intel, the resistance knew this patrol group consisted of three Stalkers. What they wouldn't find out until the patrol entered the area is the mix of Stalkers: one Shadow and two Hunter-Killers. This particular day held another surprise for the resistance. Off in the distance, a mile or so away, a Hell Fire Stalkers stood overlooking the area, long range weaponry at the ready.
((OOC: Just to make it easier, the first 3 people to post will be in one group, next 3, the second group, the next 3 the third, the last one will be the 'floater' or just pick a group. So it doesn't get crazy huge like KP did, After your initial post here, Group 1: Here; Group 2: Here; Group 3: Here))
((Added Note: Due to some confusion, I'll say it so everyone knows: The Stalkers are NOT NPC's durring this and the related threads. They will be played by Syn/CyberDoc.))

He exited the van and with the flick of a whip was soon balancing on the top of a nearby lamp post looking at the happy carefree way that Abyss was wrecking havoc.
“Having fun down there?” Hades yelled down. He while would not mind vengeance, would rather save his energy for torturing those responsible later on. He settled into an easy stance on top of his perch and kept vigil.

Shogun stepped out of the van after Abyss, and drew almost as much attention in his golden armour. But then Abyss stole pretty much all the attention with his car-throwing-trick, which was fine with Shogun. He started throwing grenades across the square, getting a good spread of bacteria. He now had a good idea of where all the buildings were, so he moved off to the side and drew his bow. He hoped to hit one of the Stalkers with a Psyite arrow, to make battling it so much eaiser. he would also then be able to target it with his pulse rifle, though he hated using firearms. They were far too random, and rather dishonourable. But he was ok with that for this, because robots didn't exactly hold much honour, and their maker has no honour because he sends them out to fight instead of fighting himself. So pulse rifle it was.
Tris got out of the van she had ridden in with some trepidation, blinking as a reflected ray of light blinded her for a second. As her eyes cleared, she looked at the scenery, frowning at the very busy, very public times spare in which their stalker trap was to be laid.
Tris was- well Tris was nervous, being of the traditional school of thought that one didn't use ones powers in public unless one wanted to be running from an angry mob the next day....and Abyss's display of car throwing wasn't exactly making her feel any better. Tris had been rather naive coming long on this mission, she'd just assumed they'd lure the stalkers to some network of alleys, or abandoned warehouse and fight there, not this public place. She couldn't help this feeling of anxiousness it seemed, it was just ingrained from a childhood of hiding.....but the part of her mind currently not cringing at the thought of poor bystanders getting hurt by falling vehicles had to admit that, it might, maybe look kinda fun.
For now she lounged against the van, keeping a sharp eye out for stalkers, and also trying to decide if she should join in the stalker attracting fun.
Deciding to give into temptation cause, well, she could, Tris waved a hand vaguely at nothing in particular, concentrating and causing a large sounding explosion of air molecules over peoples heads- causing panic and fear but not hurting anyone. She looked around innocently at the reaction this caused, before a grin of childish glee slipped to her lips- that was kinda fun...
Sitting in a van wasn’t exactly how Nox planned to spend this mission, and so without further a due, she exited. From the murky depths of the side street her particular van was lurking, the square itself appeared just ahead. Within this little window ahead she saw a red figure, who she presumed to be Abyss, throwing cars and various other vehicles - Someone’s having fun. She paused shortly as she put on her new gloves, which, due to Hades, had the wonderful little adjustment of being able to produce lasers – it was time to test them in the field.
Having strolled up to the entrance of this particular ally and so entered Times square, she stood there, motionless, as people fled around her. She knew perfectly well these people who were running, and screaming, and making ever so much noise, were probably innocent, but luckily this didn’t trouble her conscious in the slightest. Since, however, mindless destruction wasn’t quiet her thing she decided to save herself for the real work to come. And so she put the small amount of time she had to good use and surveyed the battlefield. Some open space, cover (provided by the now numerous upturned or abandoned vehicles), high vantage points, and several entrances – it will do nicely. Concluding that it would indeed serve their purposes, her mind moved onto to more pressing matters. Energy. Her fingers flexed as her mind now assessed the levels of energy available, luckily, however, due to the wonderful weather they were having, sunshine, and therefore energy, was in no short supply. Add to that the wasted heat given off by various machines form all the surrounding buildings and she wasn’t too bad off. Inconspicuously she waited, leaning up against a wall and keeping all her senses alert for the first sign of a stalker.
It was a tight fit sitting next to Abyss, but when the group got out of the van, the sweet fresh air filled Mandain's lungs again. "Well now, this is a nice view" Mandain gave a look around, but before he had the chance his attention went to Abyss which enjoyed himself with throwing cars. The stalkers could come any moment, and from any corner. Mandain tightens his suit and retied his tie. "Hate it when my tie go's tied up" Busy Busy "First up, then over, and..." This time a truck was thrown to the TRL studio. "Having fun?" Mandain's tie was ready, suit ready, Horus was not talking so also ready. He took a look around a saw a girl, lounged against the van, a slight grin came past her face, but this wasn't the time for going up to girls and impress. Somehow everything that happened had made Mandain more open minded, open for new things, open for old things like love, something that was lost in his soul. But it was no time for deep intense thoughts, it was time to shoot some Ion at stalkers.
(OOC: so i can just post here and i join? If not delete my post =p)
Voltaire sat alone at the very end of the van. As the doors open and the fresh are came under his hood, he felt free for the first time in a long time. He stepped out of the van and walked a few paces over times square. He enjoyed being out in the open again. But that feeling couldn't last to long. The stalkers would arrive soon and this spot would be a battlefield for those who opose them. It was just a matter of time now that Abyss started throwing cars around. Now all voltaire did was lean againt the van that they where brought in, waiting for his opponent.
Yeah, right. As if the statuesque blonde could do anything but stand out wherever she went. At nearly six feet tall and the perfect proportions for her old line of work, she was every inch of perfection... or, she had been. Before.
A slender hand fell to play with the chunky plastic bracelets on her wrist as Cassidy Aldridge leaned against the wall of a building, watching the people go by and wondering what she was supposed to do now. Her fingers picked at the bracelet hidden under the others, disquised by them and she whinced, her flawless face twisting a smidge. The inhibitor bracelet... she hated it with a passion, both for what it did to her and what it stood for. It was the whole reason she was here, the whole reason she'd lost everything...
Cassidy's revere was broke ubruptly and violently as a flying car crashed into the building behind her with its giant screen. Chaos erupted around her as screams broke out, her own lost among the others as she bent to wrap her arms around her head. What the hell was that? A rain of glass began to fall around her and without thinking about it, she brought her once-hidden mutant powers into play. Silky golden hair whipped out in all directions, growing three feet in few seconds. It lashed about her like so many snakes sprouting from her head, batting away the glass before it could cut her to ribbons.
Her powers might have saved her life, but it couldn't save her from what came next. The bracelet sensed her use of power and it flared to life, sending an all too familiar shock through her slender body. Her shriek ripped through the air as she fell to her knees, stiff with the voltage running through her, the damnable bracelet punishing her for her indescretion. Cassidy sagged when it finally cut off, bracing herself up on hands and knees as she gasped for precious air, ignoring the crowds that ran past her in a panic to escape the giant red thing flinging cars.

Kami stepped out of the van and watched as Abyss went to work. Ignoring the choas Abyss was causing he began to scan the area for any sign of danger. However, the milling crowd was obscuring his view. Putting his new training into action he placed his arms down by his side, palm down, and let loose a stream of energy.
He was lifted up off the ground and rose up to level with the top of the building. From htere he had a good view of everything. Now he would wait for a Stalker to arrive.

It didn't take long for Abyss to start trying to grab some attention. He sure was in a hurry to want those blasted robots to show up. With as much damage as he was doing they'd be lucky if a swarm of Stalker bots didn't show up. Shaking her head the woman tried to place herself where she could see the majority of the area. She noted where a few of the others had gone while she surveyed the fleeing humans and the destruction.
Ali decided to try something she didn't have a chance to try back at the mansion. Slowly she made her body temperature lower so that she wouldn't register as a human if thermal imagery was used. Standing near some vending machines the red haired woman blended herself with the heat of the machines.

His head was throbbing and his body ached. Whether it was from his strenuous training he had been doing the last few days or knowing the importance of this mission effecting him he wasn't sure. His skin tingled and his back burned slightly as he stepped out of one of the vans. In the required motions, Kaz tuned on his internal microphone and headset as he picked up the silver board from the back of the van. Gesturing with his hand, the board began to hover in place a few inches above the ground as Kaz began to arm himself 'to the teeth' so to speak.
A silver haired man with crimson eyes was unnerving enough, add a silver 'surf board' looking thing and he received more than a few confused looks. Once he began to strap on his swords, the pulse rifle, a large amount of throwing knives and daggers and two very large silver guns, the eyes of those near him went wide. Most began to flee the scene immediately, which he was somewhat thankful for. Others stared at him obviously confused and scared, others looked at him in a sort of awe, and he noted a few, from the shadows or mostly hidden, who gave him approving smiles, nods or winks.
Obviously not being 'human', those few people who did not flee but seemed to support whatever it was he was going to do, made him wonder if they were mutants themselves or normal humans who supported the mutant race. Why another thought occurred to him just then was anyone guess. As he thought about big cities, suburbs, and small towns, he thought about the number of mutants in each. Sure the numbers weren't accurate, mutants tended to hide what they are, it seemed that more mutants seemed to pop up in large cities where people were packed closer together. This seemed odd to him and caused him to pause his inspection of one of his guns. Besides the fact mutants 'popped' up in cities more, they also seem to gather in groups. To Kaz, that seemed practical for safety and support, but impractical because they become targets and are easier to find and exploit. <Logical and illogical all at once,> Kaz shook his head and holstered the gun. <Perhaps theres more to it than just logic and practicality...>
Something sounding as if two cars had just collided head on at high speeds split the air minutes after the Resistance's arrival. Looking towards Times Square he saw another car fly through the air, only this time it smashed into the side of a building, specifically the TRL building. Smiling and sighing he stepped onto the board. Though he knew the possibility of bystanders being hurt was high, and while he didn't necessarily want to get them involved, it was something that could be changed or avoided with what they had to do. <Necessary risks.>
The mobs of people running away, the screams of panic filled the air as small explosions filled the air somewhere ahead of him. He guessed it was Tris' work he he thought of the abilities each on this mission possessed. One particular shriek caught Kaz's attention. It wasn't a shriek of blind instinctual panic and fear, but a shriek of pain. It ended nearly as quickly as it began, <They're probably dead.> Kaz sighed again as he raised himself high into the air on the board.
Kitra moved out of the van, happy to see that most of the innocent were running. Of course, that was probably due to Abyss throwing cars around like a child throwing a small plastic car. Then there was Kaz, armed and riding a sliver airboard. '[I seriously want one of those, but hey, I can fly too I spuse.'[/i] Kitra concentrated, looking for her sketch of pale blue and silver wings. Once they fully materalized, she took flight and landed lightly on a nearby building.. It gave her a decent scan of the area, most of the people were gone. A few remained, either crushed under the ruble or too terrified to move.
She frowned, so far there was no sign of any stalker. Not a good sign, probably meant that they were cloaked, or they might be gathering more of them. She looked down, she spotted a young lady about her age. Possibly younger, she looked like a gorgeous model, she hadn't seemed to move and she also looked to have a quite a few bracelets on her wrist. She wasn't sure, but Kitra swore she saw an inhibator bracelet on it.
She had her sketchbook, full of rather interesting and unusual artwork this time around and a very blank, thick sketchbook. She had been able to get her new paper ability under control, to the most part, she figured since the opponents wouldn't be human, then to go all out. And if humans decided to show up, well, that's what throwing knives were for. She wasn't exactly offensive, but she could trap a stalker for a minute or so if she was lucky, allowing the others to make their move. She looked around noting that there was quite a few people from the resistance there. 'Heh, this will be interesting, so many mutants, so many talents.'[/color]

((OOC: The Shadow Stalker is cloaked and hiding, so until it reveals itself in either this thread or in group 2, do not engage it or notice it <Unless you have an ability that would somehow allow you to notice it>. Also, this introductory thread is done <for now>, please refer to Group 1, 2, or 3 to see where you should post. Though of you going against the Shadow, do whatever you feel like until it makes itself known. For now, Kaz and Kitra are the 'floaters', with Cassidy being caught in the middle of it all. What she does is up to her pretty much. Have fun and Have at'em!))

Off to the side, hidden in a van Gearhead sat, waiting and being bored. Everyone was outside getting ready to fight the Stalkers. Not that she wanted to fight but she couldn't. She knew full well that she was much too frail. Her job was support, if it could be called that. With her headset on, laptop in front of her, she sat scanning radio and satalite signals, this of course included the police scanner she had installed in her laptop. Gearhead's foot never stopped moving as it tap-tap-tapped the floor.
If they could get one of the Stalkers, it would be her job to shut the thing down and make sure they wouldn't be followed by any sort of tracking system withing the machine. A large smile spread across her face as she thought about seeing a Stalker in person and being able to examine it. The van's position provided no way to see the area, but that mattered little as there were multitude of cameras in the are.
Linking herself into the nearby cameras, she stopped them from sending or recording any fotage. While she did this, she also tried to find the one with the best vantage point. When she did, she set herself up to receive the data and transfer it to her laptop which would then translate the data into video and save the information. While this was mostly to gather informaiton, it was almost as much for Gearhead personally so she could see the Stalkers she had wanted to see for so long.
