The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Character's full name: Jordan Jamison Gender: Male Age: 25 Date of Birth: April 25, 1987 Nationality/ Ethnicity: American/Irish
Appearance
Hair color and style: Short brown Eyes: Brown Height: 5’8 Build: Average
Everyday clothing style: Well dressed/business casual, at least most of the time. During the week he likes to dress professionally, but he’s not afraid to tone it way down on the weekend. Uniform: None Miscellaneous clothing: He’s been known to wander into the seeder sections of the city for a certain substance. He tends to dress appropriately for those trips.
Character
Personality: Jordan is out for recognition. He believes he is destined for great things – fame in particular – and most of his decisions are reflective of that. Coupled with his strong sense of self-importance, this has often resulted in selfish decisions throughout his life. He’s not a bad person by any means, and he’s more then willing to make the ‘right’ or ‘good’ call in any given situation, just as long as he stands to gain something from the results.
However, despite these negative aspects of his personality, Jordan isn’t the slimy narcissist he sounds like. On the contrary, he’s a very charismatic and likeable guy and his selfish side rarely leaks though to the surface. He is under no illusions that he’s ‘entitled’ to his fame and fortune, but rather that it will be an eventual part of his life, and working hard at it will only bring it to him sooner.
He does lack a certain level of caution in his life. When he was growing up, no one ever told him he couldn’t do anything, and if they did, he made sure to prove them wrong. As a result he has no fear of failure and is almost always willing to take risks. He can at times come across as arrogant, and although he would never admit to it, that assessment would be true. Hobbies/ Interests: Photography, Documentaries
Job or part time job: Jordan works full time as a researcher for Wolf News, and he’s quite happy with his position, at least for the time being. In the future he hopes to hit it big making movies, and his role at Wolf gives him ample free time to hunt for the story that will make him famous. Fears/ phobias/ concerns: His reputation is very important to him. He gets very defensive of anything that could threaten how people think of him. Special talents: Internet snooping
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: A pretty centered neutral. Not afraid to make sacrifices or step on the toes of others if it helps him out in the long run.
Mutations
Technically none. Jordan was born as just your regular old human. However, he has dabbled in the wonder-drug that is M, and this is what it’s handed him:
Mutation description: Friction Control. Jordan has the ability to adjust the friction of a surface/object for as long as he’s in contact with it. This can be anything from giving ice the traction of sandpaper to making a racetrack as slippery as a wet floor. His mutation does not change the texture/appearance of the surface. He only changes the relationship that surface has with another object when they come in contact. While not particularly useful as a means of fighting, Jordan has found other uses for his “power-trips.” Chief among the options is the capacity for mischief. ‘Accidents’ are an easy thing to create when your footing suddenly isn’t as sure as it was the step before. He’s been able to use this ability to cover his escape, as well as slipping in to hard to reach areas.
Strengths: Allows Jordan to have a significant advantage over his surroundings, regardless if he’s on the run or acting as the aggressor. It’s not a passive mutation; he needs to consciously make the decision to affect the friction. Each time he uses it he is capable of generating a different type of change, even if they are in quick succession. For example, to avoid slipping on his own traps, Jordan has become pretty skilled at sending out high traction waves from his feet to his boots to counteract the low traction waves he sends out from his hands to the street.
Weaknesses/Limitations: The effect is limited to surfaces he makes skin contact with. When he uses the ability, it expands outward like a gradient, effecting the area he’s in contact with the strongest, gradually getting weaker the farther away from him it gets. It spreads quickly (5 feet per second), but will stop spreading once he releases contact. At the most, the area of effect from one point is 20 feet. When he breaks contact with the surface, the effect lingers, slowly fading away over the next minute or so. Because of the gradient effect mentioned earlier, the point of origin would retain the change the longest. There is no limit to the amount of times he can use the ability, but the more times he uses it in succession without taking a break, the slower it takes the area of effect to spread right up until the speed is almost non existent. For example, he could go running through a field bare-foot, making the path as easy to run on as a race track, but with each step the area of spread out from his feet would reduce until it was barely noticeable that the effect was happening at all. He probably has a good 15-20 seconds of ability without rest, which would be good for around 5 maximum sized areas at the most at any one time. A minute of rest would equal a second of time to use the power again. After 20 minutes, he’d be fully charged. Jordan is vulnerable to the effects of his power as well.
Fighting Style
Avoiding conflict at all costs Explanation: Jordan isn’t incapable of throwing a punch, but he’s not stupid enough to think he’s got much of a chance in a brawl. He’d much rather just stay out of it. Pros for fighting style: He doesn’t get hurt very often Cons for fighting style: He’s ill prepared when he’s forced in to a fight.

History Of Your Character:
Jordan is a man of humble beginnings. He wasn’t born especially privileged, living a fairly average suburban life with his parents and brother in northern New York. He was always safe, away from trouble, and in his opinion, nothing could be duller. He quickly found himself becoming a ring leader of a group of boys from school determined to make life a little more interesting in their boring town. Skateboards, pranks, graffiti; anything short of violence their young minds could think of to bring a little excitement to their lives. They’d film all of their exploits and watch them back later, reliving the fun over and over.
The group never really got in any kind of trouble, and when they did, it was rarely little more then a slap on the wrist. All of the boys, Jordan especially, seemed to develop the mindset that they were untouchable, and no one was going to be able to get in their way, regardless of what they wanted to do.
Eventually he grew out of the trouble making once the novelty of the whole thing started to wear away. The one thing that did stick with him though was his interest in documenting all of his adventures. He tossed away his parents old VHS camcorder he’d used for all their videos and saved up to get a nice digital one. He would film everything, all the time, never leaving home without his trusty camera.
Once he got a little older and finished high school, he decided to try and turn this passion in to a career, studying journalism, but keeping a pretty big interest in film. His first real job in the field was his current one, working as a visual researcher for Wolf News, where he currently continues to work.
Through the resources available to him at the news station, Jordan has been slowly researching (on the side) as much as he can find out about this new drug that has slowly been becoming more and more common in the last few months, M. Something about the drug grabbed his attention the very first time he’d ever heard the words mentioned. He had a feeling there was more to it then the surface level facts he’s heard. Narrowing the focus of his “document everything” mindset, he has set out to hopefully amass enough undercover footage of the cities seedy underbelly to create the story that will make him famous.
He did encounter a bit of a hurtle in the early phases of his top-secret operation though; after trying the drug for himself, he absolutely fell in love with the power it could provide.
Now Jordan is in conflict with his desire to find fame in exposing as much as he knows about the people putting M on the street, and his own interest in keeping it there. He continues his hidden camera excursions, filming everything in great detail, but the tapes sit in his desk at home, never coming out once they go in.
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: Google Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Shane Sample RP:
Jordan walked back down the alley, thumbing the vials of ‘M’ between his fingers, another successful transaction under his belt. He always preferred spending as much time as possible with the ‘salesman’ as he could, trying to get the best shot of his face as he could. The little pen camera he had was far from a terrible camera, but it was next to impossible to aim it properly without making it painfully obvious he was doing it. He did always have another “security” style camera mounted earlier in the day, but it was pretty rare for it to gather much useful information.
This man was new though. He’d never made a trade with him before, and he definitely creeped him out. The thought had never crossed his mind that mutants could be the ones selling the drug. Everyone who’d handed off the goods in the past had been pretty normal looking guys, so he’d always assumed they were human. This guy though, he was visibly mutant, looking like some kind of human/fly hybrid. Maybe he’d just decided to have a sample before he started his shift, and this was what he was stuck with. He wasn’t sure if the concept of that made him feel better or worse.
One thing was sure though, visible mutants made him uncomfortable. If a single hair on his head had changed the first time he tried M, he’d never let himself be in the same room as the stuff ever again. Even now, holding the vials, he was still afraid that his power might change suddenly into something grotesque, despite months of consistent results.
Once he was out of old Bug-Eye’s sight, he quickly started to climb the fire escape to the top of the nearest building, a process that would have been made easier if he used his new purchase, but he’d made a rule for himself when he first started that he’d never use it so close to where he’d made the deal. Once on the roof, he silently made his way towards one of the corners where a small camcorder just peeked over the edge, aimed down in to the courtyard where he’d just come from.
He slid up to the camera, switching it off and pulling it close. He flipped it in to playback mode, looking to see what kind of images he’d managed to capture. The blurry images rewound on the tiny screen of the camera to about 5 minutes earlier when he’d first arrived. Jordan played the video back. Unfortunately, despite his best efforts to lead the man out of the shadows, the bug faced dealer remained completely obstructed by the darkness. He’d need to wait until he got home to check the smaller pen camera, but he expected similar results from it as well. Another useless crop of images.
Jordan started rolling the vials between his fingers again, smiling to himself. At least the night wasn’t a complete waste.
Congrats on your second character, he sounds like a guy who could make a living provoking accidents. Maybe he should switch careers from Wolf reporter to insurance salesman.
