The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Finding a $50 bill in a bush today was like finding gold. April fools day was looking pretty darn good for him. Before leaving the mansion for the day he managed to rig all the sinks with nickles so water would spray, saran wrap on the toilets and injected several tubes of toothpaste with hot sauce. Karma seemed to be on his side in it all. Boy did he love having the ability to roam about undetected in the dark, it was dream of any delinquent.
Armed and ready with tons of cash, thanks to some looser who couldn't hold onto a fifty dollar bill, there was only one thing to do, MCDONALDS! Now there was always something he wanted to do at the great golden arched fast food restaurant, and that was buy a crap load of stuff off the dollar menu and try to eat it all. It might be possible, and then it might not be possible. It was worth a shot either way.
After spending $54 dollars in the drive-thru, Hokee parked the car on the street. It was a nice day and he didn't feel like filling up his car with wrappers and crumbs. Mild winters meant more stoop time, and the perfect door was calling to him. He had seen it a few times with his driving around in the city, more so when he was working at Travis' garage. There was no better place to eat the golden arches' food then on the stoop of a freaking place with a gold painted door. This was destiny!
With his butt planted on the stoop, the teen straddled the three bags of fast food glory. With a large soda to his side, because with all this food he was going to need a serious size drink and not any cheap shot two gulp crap, his hand dove into the bag for the first delight to fill his stomach. Unwrapping the burger, his tongue ran across his lips. "I'm lovin' it."
Aura had no idea the significance of the day. She was lucky she knew the current month and only bothered knowing the day of the month due to the work she did for the order's insurance. She did not work this day but instead had decided to use the day o reflect on the things she had learned in the past few months. She knew when she fully accepted them things would change and that very idea scared her, not for the first time she wondered if she might have been better of never knowing.
Aura cradled what to most people would have looked like a strangely fluffy black cat. Those upon very close inspection however would realize it was no cat, but a Skunk. Aura smiled touching the Skunk's nose playfully to which the animal simply looked up at her as if annoyed but made no move to get down. Petting the creature Aura looked up at the sky. The sun was out and it was unseasonably warm a fact she was enjoying.
Aura was dressed in a light pink Hoodie which was fitted and showed off her toned body, not that Aura knew anything about fashion or cared how she looked. Her Long black hair fell over her right shoulder and down near her waist. As she made her way to the front door she spotted somone eating on the steps. This at once struck her odd, since it was very rare and most people at Sanctuary used the dining room. She reminded herself that like herself this may have been due to the general wnated status of much of Sanctuarys population.
"Hello are you new here? She asked curiously, having never seen the boy before. She knew their were many she had never met at Sanctuary, the transient population ensured it was near impossible to know everyone there. Still it often worked as a way of opening conversation.
It was then Aura felt her pet moving in her arm's and looked down to see it adjusting itself. The skunk had looked past the person and had focused on the thing Aura missed the food. Still she kept the animal in her arm's as she stepped up onto the stairs herself, with a friendly smile. "You do know we have a cafeteria right? She asked glancing at the street a bit nervously. Their seemed to be no police presence which was unsurprising, police rarely came to sanctuary and even more rarely left it.
Heart attack in a bag, that was exactly what would happen if he did manage to eat all of the food in one sitting. That was unless if he had acquired a new mutation ability giving him the ability to turn unhealthy food into substance which could be used for his body. Wait, he was a teenager, that was a normal chemical make up of the human male teen. A human garbage disposal of sorts, the ability to pull a bag of nachos from a couch that had been there for three days and eat it like they were freshly opened on the spot.
The grease from the burger drooled out the corner of his mouth as a mix of mayonnaise and cheese oozed on his tongue. The meet jumped about inside his mouth as if it had feet and were in a bouncing house. Unhinging his jaw, another mouthful of burger entered the black hole abyss digestive track of Hokee. Between chewing and inserting more food into his mouth, he must have swallowed at some point in time. Feeling a drizzle pooling in the corner of his mouth, the teen licked the sweet heart clogging substance while unwrapping another burger.
For the most part the only thing that existed in the world currently was the bags of fast food delight and the contemplation of ditching the jeans and pulling on a pair of shorts....mainly for the lack of buttons and zipper aspect then to do with the weather. That was the one minor thing about wearing his skinny jeans and stuff....three bags of McDonalds was bound to make a button pop. Ready to insert the burger into his mouth, he paused only due to conversation hovering over his head.
New? Was the golden door the entrance to something more then he had thought? It just looked like a good spot to sit his butt down and eat till he couldn't shove another crumb into his mouth. Taking a bite of the burger, he used it as a time expansion. With his luck this was some whack out convent where they turned guys into Eunuchs. Subconscious thoughts brought his legs together closer, the bags rattled with this movement sending a heat wave up his kneecaps.
"Yeah." A man of great words, okay so not exactly the most brilliant of conversational aspects, he was at least answering the question. If the place ended up being a freak spot, he could always bail, but the girl looked decent. Certainly something he wouldn't mind hooking up with in the back seat of his car. Then something jumped out at him in thought, the creature in her hands, he knew what that was. "Sh**, that ain't the punk kid that turns all skunk is it?"
If that skunk was, whatever his name was...he'd make sure to dump the guy into a street dumpster and jam it shut. That was one guy he saw a little too much of. Nothing wrong with guys, and guy parts, he had them himself....just he didn't care for getting stuck looking at another dude's dangles. Mad code, that was just how it was. With a wide bite, his mouth soon filled with a taste-bud Xanadu.
He was talkative, Aura noted but that took a back seat to the all to familiar and perplexing reaction, people, this one included had to her pet Cat, or Skunk has many seemed to insist. Aura had never fully grasped the difference between skunks and cats. Solkat had always smelled just fine to her, and without the white stripe would be nothing more then a black cat. Aura had reasoned that some people simply did not like this type of cat or had heard odd things about it.
Aura took on a slightly annoyed look and shifted her weight. "Her name is Solkat and shes my pet cat. I got her at a Zoo breakout lead by some animal mutants, but she has never changed into anything else" she explained. She had heard a lot of strange things people thought skunks did, from having a terrible oder to being unfriendly, but never had she been told solkat might turn into something. Aura was thinking the guy was strange, when Solkat squirmed and hopped to the ground, landing gracefully on it's feet.
Solkat calmly made his way up the stairs and pawed a few times at one of the mcdonalds begs. Aura tilted her head looking more confused. "That's odd she usually prefers rodents Aura commented on the clearly begging skunk. Aura made her way up the steps, with an amused smile on her face, she scopped the animal back into her arms and tapped it on the nose with her finger. The animal calmed down but still eyed the beg.
"In any case, Welcome to Sanctuary, a place only for Mutant's. Sanctuary Takes in Mutants who have no homes as well as those who simply want to live in a place where they can be who they are with No threat of humanity on these premiss's. You ARE a mutant right? Aura asked a sudden seriously overtaking her voice. Aura smiled feeling safe on Sanctuary, cops did come near here and were often late when called to anywhere near the area.
Aura smiled, and as She did, a pink light seemed to slowly come into view until it formed a transparent pink coating around her body. It looked less then an inch thick, it seemed to stop as it touched the skunk, then quicker then it had come it simply vanished. "I can understand if you would like to show me what ya can do in a less public area" she said looking at the golden doors. Aura clearly took pride in those golden doors and Mutants them selfs.
Aura knew if he was human, Lori likely would not want the guy killed on the front steps, so she considerd simply scarring him. But Aura wnated to focus on what glorious power he might have been gifted with. Aura loved to see mutants powers, each one was so unique and beautiful to her. As Aura waited, her Ayra flared up around her hand and formed a fly swatter, about 8 inches long from her hand.
There was a zoo breakout? That totally explained why that freakish stony monkey girl lived at the mansion. She must have been held back in the housing where people couldn't watch her. She was one freaky girl to look at, if she was even a girl at all. The skunk however, he couldn't trust her completely on the matter, and it wasn't her fault either. A zoo breakout though, that had to be fun to watch. To be a fly on the wall for that one. He could almost picture Taylor standing on the street yelling at all the animals to go back into their cages. Boy did she ever piss him off.
"Do you care if I am or aren't?" Cat, skunk whatever, what really mattered was the creature was trying to eat his McDonalds. All those hours busting his back doing slave labor....okay so it wasn't that but pure dumb luck, either way, this was his food! Rodents, a bunch of bull, the animal was a skunk and Hokee certainly wasn't stupid, he at least knew a what a skunk was. Those things raid trash cans and eat anything that isn't pinned down. Sure he didn't know if skunks ate rodents or not, but he was sure it rather eat his food then be held like a baby doll.
Pulling the bags onto his lap, Hokees hands were soon pulling hand fulls of fries out to eat. Shoving quite a few into his mouth, the teen couldn't help but look over the girl. She was fairly attractive, something nice to look at while eating. She wasn't annoying either, which always is a perk. No complaints about him eating and she certainly wasn't begging him for food. This was a nice welcoming change. Only proved his point more of how the Mansion was full of freaks. Swallowing down his fries, his squinted eyes peered into one of the bags. "Apple pie?" One pie wasn't bad to give away. Maybe if he bribed her with enough McDonalds, she might give him a little tour of something other then what was behind the doors, like something which would feed his teenage lust.
A few more fries ventured into his mouth, never to return again. The option was there to show off his powers and such, but lust lingered in the recesses of his mind. Quickly enough, he found himself half choking upon a new sight. The chick just made a flyswatter out of some weird pink stuff. Sure there was a lot of hype on the internet and the news about the pink stuff in food....was this why they wanted to get that junk out of the market? She obviously had one to many school cafeteria tacos to get that much pink gunk going on.
"Flyswatter...Really?" Who knows, maybe she was the relative of Billy the Exterminator or something. Yeah the pink stuff was different that she did, but a flyswatter was lame. Good thing she wasn't a guy, that certainly wouldn't impress the ladies. Heck if it did, he would be strutting about town with a flyswatter. Heck a plunger would be more useful then a flyswatter! One thing for sure, she needed a reality check. This girl didn't have it all together. Skunks being called a cat, making flyswatters....hopefully he wasn't having a hallucination from all the salt and grease from his food. "Make something a bit more impressive and I might show something in return." Until then, there was a bacon cheeseburger calling his name. Yum!
Aura considered backhanding hokee with an Aura hammer, but pushed the thought from her mind. She had been trying to be subtle but they were at the front door of Sanctuary and it was not like the cops did not know she lived in the area. They simply chose to avoid her if they could. Still it was the first time Aura had ever been asked to show something more impressive in a long time. With a shrug the only visable response, she swiped the apple pie from his hand and then took a few steps into the yard until she was a good five yards from hokee.
"as you wish" She said With a smile. If he wanted to see impressive, she would oblige him. The Flyswatter, seemed to lose form and gather around her wrist in a liquid like movement. Then Her Aura seemed to expand outward several inches, and started becoming Quite angled. It was the look she used when she saw gun's, the sharp angles she used to better deflect bullets away from her. She had learned to form it back in the woods and it had been a major reason she had lived.
Keeping her angled sheild up, Aura formed a six inch long inch long sword, that she used to cut the top of the box and part of the pie off and let the top portion hit the ground. Aura then made the Sword dissolve and using it some more of her Aura she formed a hammer and set the pie on it, letting it sit a moment, then she raised the hammer and flung the pie above her head. SHe then Let Her Aura fade completely, only forming a thin needle like Aura from her finger she thrust up into the air, and skewered the pie with it.
Then The pie fell through the needle, as Aura turned it none solid and it faded. SHe caught the pie with her hand and took a bite out of it. Half chewing the bite of food, she smiled brightly, and Her aura flared up around her arm again, suddenly The Aura around her hand and for 6 inches after suddenly took on the shape of the blade of a chainsaw, and it even moved. It lacked the actual construction of a real chainsaw but could be used the same way as a weapon.
Finishing her Bite of Food, she again let her Aura fade. She had forgotten she had originally been annoyed, to caught up in the beautiful feeling of release of using her powers in such a way. SHe was her Powers and she hated having to hide them when she traveled to far from sanctuary, she was decently well known on the news and was even on the cities top ten list. "Their is nothing more beautiful then a mutants powers" She said with utter faith it was the truth.
"Plus if your human, i have to have you removed from the property" she Said returning to her senses a bit as she looked upon him, putting a hand on her hip. "Rules are Rules and i despise humans besides. If your a mutant i can show you around, if your not i would advise you to avoid this place" She went on, useinf a free hand to move some locks of hair from her face.
Eating food while watching someone play with weird pink floating stuff was, well it was different. The first form of a flyswatter wasn't exactly flattering and highly boring. Half paying attention to all the tricks and stuff that Aura was doing,, his concentration focused more on consuming more of his free food. Finding money had to be one of the best things to ever happen to him. Some of the dramatics that the girl was doing had some impressing quality, but at the same time it also had aspects of to much 'magic show' feel. Flaunting the mutant ability, yeah she was doing that slightly.
The idea of the pink stuff was still weird. It obviously had meat behind it, even if it didn't seem to appear that way. See through stuff was very, deceiving. This didn't sit well with him, though it could also be the feeling he had from eating the fast food a little to quickly. "That's all?" Okay, so he was pushing his luck a bit, but when didn't he? Picking at the fries now, the teen reclined a bit more across the steps.
"No humans...hmm." From the sounds of it, he had stumbled across something good here. Sure it wasn't exactly the underground society he had been looking for but this might be worth looking around a bit. "No sh** faced adapts either?" That stupid Taylor woman was a pain in his butt, not being able to use his mutant skills with her lurking about did dampen some activities. With his eyes drifting back to the skunk, he chucked a fry at it.
"What exactly was all that pink stuff?" The only thing he could remotely compare it to was that kid from Peanuts. Pigpen, or something along those lines. It wasn't a dirt cloud that was revolving around her, but it was something tangible. When the sword was made, it obviously could cut through stuff, but at the same time it had an illusion that it couldn't do anything useful. Weird mutation, very weird. Maybe his food was laced with some hallucinating agent.
Aura decided if the boy was human, she might stalk him for a short while and find a place to play with him. She had entertained more then one idea when the boy spoke of No humans or adapteds, while Aura knew one adapted sometimes came she knew for the most part people in sanctuary felt annoyed with them.
"Their is one that comes around every so often but for the most part no. Sanctuary's people tend to enjoy using their powers as freely as they can. I for example despise any situation where i can not use my power's" she said not realizing they knew the same woman. Though Aura called them nulls and names rarely stuck in aura's head long.
"It is my Aura, much like my arm or leg, a part of me. However i am not playing a game and my request to see your powers and show you have a right to touch this place remains" she said her voice clearly showing her annoyance. This was not useually a difficult thing, she smiled as the skunk greedily grabbed the fry and devoured it, but this only served to embolden the creature as now she thought Hokee would give her more.
With a grunt, he got information that was rather helpful. So there was a stupid adapt that lurked about behind the doors behind him. A rather big shame. Still, with the way this girl was using her little pink stuff so freely, he couldn't help but think that this part of the neighborhood wasn't exactly Taylor's cup of tea. That woman was crazy, but she had more sense then to lurk about this way. Not knowing for sure if he was right on this one or not, he would have to worry about someone like her here anyways.
Instead of doing anything to show of his power, or to even state what he could do, Hokee continued to eat his way through the bag of food before him. After getting halfway through another burger, he did pause long enough to say something back. "Can't do it here." If it was way later in the day, sure that wouldn't be a problem at all. At this point, he couldn't do much with all the light going on. Fading into the shadows and darkness did require the whole shadow darkness element.
The voice was obviously getting a bit cranky with him. He knew this tone very well, for it was something he heard plenty of. Being one to take rules as more of suggestions then actual guidance, he was confronted with similar responses to his behavior like this. "You're not the only one." Tossing another fry at the skunk, Hokee pulled out another container of fries to eat. The dollar size fries were rather small and only took one handful to shove it all into his mouth, that was if he so chose to do it that way.
"Your gonna have to wait till I'm done eating." Do not get in the way of a guy and his food. That was just a huge no-no. There was no way on earth he was going to let all this glorious food go to waste. Yes she could make fancy things with her pink aura stuff, but he wasn't going to stop what he was doing. The female population wasn't intimidating to him, intoxicating perhaps but not intimidating.
Aura considered the option of force but as quickly discarded it. It had not reached that level yet and he might still be a mutant. Patience she reminded herself and reorganizing her thoughts she looked around the neighborhood and smiled with a bit of pride. "Then we will see" she said simply of his powers having chosen to give him the chance to do this on his own terms. Perhaps they were harder to show then most. Her own she reminded herself were very easy to show and very obvious and this guy could be like that one guy she met who could come back from the dead.
She raised the sword to her hand before letting it fade back into her overall aura untill their was no trace of it. Aura decided she would tell a story while she waited for Hokee. "When my powers emerged i was fighting another girl, my powers formed a sword as a threw a punch, the result severed her spine in two, she was dead before she hit the ground" She said casually even making a mock sloppy swing in the air.
"I don't like Humanity, to be honest if it were up to me i would hunt most of the overpopulated animals down, and forge a mutant utopia, they dont make good sport normally but they have their moments." She went on her voice never changing. She believed her words though the story was quite complicated and even Aura was still figuring out how all the species fit. She had to remind herself as well that much of her memory ebfore the order was compromised.
If he kept a diary, then the perfect entry would have been documented in history books for many years to come.
Dear Journal, Today I ate McDonalds in front of golden doors and met Hitler reincarnated. He's a she now, and plays with pink swords. Aren't I lucky to be on the side of wanted and not puppy chow.
But, writing his thoughts and such was not a characteristic of the teen, sadly the children of the future would never know about this encounter. Things were going to go one of two ways, him getting his butt whopped on the steps of the place or him ditching the girl. Of course there were always different outcomes as well, though they would result in one of the two directions consisting on leaving on his own will or leaving feeling worse then he arrived.
Public school system did one thing on the good side for him, preparation for eating while hearing graphic stories. there was nothing like siting at the lunch table and hearing one of the guys talking about the mafia and showing off pictures in a book with bodies missing parts. Continuing to eat as if the conversation was simple as discussion of the current weather or even over the political importance of economical stress.
"How old were you for that first kill?" Hey it was conversation, maybe not something that most people would talk about, but it was something. If he could keep her talking, then he could eat. The more he could eat, the better the two would be off. He wasn't going to go and do stuff on her command, not his style and certainly wasn't going to change, not even if she had pink aura stuff that could be turned into swords and flyswatters.
"Thirteen, maybe a bit younger or older. The Humans then decided it would be fun to pretend to break me out of my cage and then train me as a weapon. Very few survived the program as most of the other's in the program were not as resistant to bullets as i am. Eventually the Humans canceled the program and decided to kill off those who had to do with the program, i am one of two out of about 75 who lived" Aura said, the Anger in her voice was very obvious and apparent.
"Have you ever killed anyone?" she asked keeping the casual tone of the conversation going. Aura knew many at Sanctuary had but their was no telling with random Mutants from the streets. Aura glanced at the Golden door,s as a bird Mutant walked out paying nether of them much mind, Aura did not however note, how quite of a day it was today despite the decent weather today.
"I Like Sanctuary, free food freash to order, free room and board and for the most part no one cares what you do, as long as you don't bring a trail of cops back here Aura said and at least to her the statement was accurate. The restrictions she had now were more do to being in the Order then the Sanctuary. She took great pride in the place enough to try and be patient with this guy. It also helped keep her calm her retained beleif that killing mutants unless one had to was wrong and a risk she did not wish to take at the moment.
Someone had their unhappy pants on. While stewing in her own hatred towards her past, he took it as an opportunity to eat in peace. Cracking open an apple pie, he broke off one end and dipped his finger into the goo. "Yup." Certainly he didn't end the lives as many people as she did, nor did he start at such a young age, but he could say he did at least have something under his belt. Details were something girls lavished in, and yeah he liked to have his bragging rights and all, but from the little bit he could tell from his interactions she wouldn't be pleased with who he had killed.
"So your a programmed killing machine of sorts." Licking the goop off his finger, his eyes drifted over towards her. Pity really. She wasn't all that bad looking, and boy did she have something wrong between her ears at times. Though it made sense in some aspects. If she really was brainwashed into killing people all the time, why wouldn't you want to snuggle with a skunk?
Dipping his finger into the goop again, he fished around for more information. "Ever think about taking out some mutants?" Taking out, that could be taken in more then one way. Though it was good to know. When she wasn't playing with her pink stuff, she was semi attractive and he was aching to get some action. Being a teen and not having someone to explore certain aspects of life with, well it was like tap dancing without the shoes.
