The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

February, as it turned out, was even cold during mild winters in New York City. Having been there for a few years now, Kealey Quinn was used to the fact, but pitied any newcomers who might be unaccustomed to the bitter chill in the air. Especially if they didn’t have a custom-made X-Uniform to keep them warm like she did.
It wasn’t the fanciest thing in the world, but Kealey had made modifications when she’d realized just what kind of winter she’d be dealing with as a team leader. Multi-layered linings were nice. Very nice.
So was being a team leader. "M" usage was starting to run away with itself in the city and more and more random groups of teenagers and/or disenfranchised adults were taking pills and going on rampages. It sure was a good thing that there were dedicated groups like the X-Men were around to handle things when they got out of hand.
Like right now.
Kealey had sent out the call when the NYPD had requested backup and two people had answered. Two Trainees. Kealey had been apprehensive, until she realized that one of them was Jorge. The empath had worked with Detective Cervantes before and the man knew what he was doing. He was experienced, and well versed in apprehending criminals, probably great with a gun...everything that Kealey was...not.
He was also driving. Kealey didn't have her license.
None of that mattered, the blond shook her head, hoping that would shake loose her apprehension. Maybe she was just reflecting. A glance in the rear view mirror showed the boy in the back...man he looked young. Kealey smiled.
"Just remember. Play to your strengths, don't take unnecessary risks, and support the police in any way we can." she said. The 'Right' to the Officer on her left was unspoken.

Jorge
His first mission as an X-Trainee. Though it was a little silly to be calling him a trainee at his age, Jorge did not let it faze him. Jorge was never one to put too much emphasis in labels, after all, they were all out here to get a job done. The only chain of command that he needed to respect and remember was that the young woman, the blonde named Kealey, was his Team Leader. And he had absolutely no problem with that. He worked with her a couple of times before and he knew she definitely had some skills. So he was sure that she was going to be fine.
He only hoped that whatever situation they were getting into did have a ficus around. Heh, he would truly never forget that.
Dressed simply in a brown leather jacket, jeans and a dark shirt, the only insignia of the X-Men that he wore was a red belt buckle that gleamed from his belt. He wondered how long before he would get used to going out in an actual crime-fighting costume. The thought made him smirk.
A glance to the rearview mirror, and Jorge turned back to the road ahead.
The only issue he had at the moment was the kid sitting in the backseat. He knew him all too well. Mainly because he was the kid that had nearly killed his girlfriend Gemma Taylor and her son Chase due to a car accident. That alone should have been reason enough to throw the kid in lock-up, or at least earned Jorge five-minutes alone with the kid in an interrogation room with a pair of brass knuckles. But for whatever reason, Jorge found him now working with the X-men.
He still could not wrap his head around that one. Jorge was generally the type of person to believe that everyone had SOME type of good in them. With Hokee though, well, Jorge was not all that sure. He’d dealt with plenty of kids like him when he worked back in Miami. They rarely turned out better than their first impressions.
And right now…Jorge had a BAD first impression of the kid. Tends to happen when your love interest and her son is nearly killed.
Hopefully the boy would prove useful and simply stay out of his way.
Behind the wheel of the vehicle, since he was apparently the only one with a license, Jorge drove safely yet speedily to their destination. He weaved in and out of traffic, hoping that the rest of the boys in blue did not have too much to handle.
>> "Just remember. Play to your strengths, don't take unnecessary risks, and support the police in any way we can."
Heh, pep talk in the car? He glanced at Kealey out of the corner his eye and gave her a silent nod of understanding. The detective would remain silent and let Kealey run her plays on this job. He trusted her and hoped that they would walk out of whatever they were getting into in one piece.
Sitting in the back seat with a cop driving, not something he was keen on at all. On the plus side, at least there wasn't bars between him and Jorge but on the other hand he would frankly liked it if there was. Or perhaps maybe letting him hold a taser so he could keep the cop at a distance from him. Even though he had the whole backseat to himself, it still felt crowded. Stuck with the crutches in the backseat with him, he couldn't help his foot from twitching in the back seat itching to drive.
"I could have drived." Poor grammar, of course. Little things like sentence structure and proper use of tenses didn't matter to him. Stuck in the backseat like a two year old, he couldn't help but feel slightly degraded. So what he crashed a car, anyone could do that and last time he checked old farts like the pair in the front were perfectly capable for doing just that. The weaving in and out of traffic was nauseating, but after driving himself on his own for a bit, getting used to other people driving was something he wasn't happy about in the slightest.
Unbuckling from the seat, the teen sprawled out across the back seat. If he was stuck back there, he could at least make himself more comfortable. Sure he should be buckled up, but if he was going to get caught in another car crash, how much help would a seat belt be honestly. Plucking up one of the crutches from the ground, he started to poke at the window behind the driver's seat with the rubber tip.
"I do get to do something, and not get stuck just sitting in the car....right?" Hell would be made if he was left behind in the car like some mutt. Sure he wasn't dressed in anything spiffy, if anything the reverse could be said. Between the dreadlocks, skinny black jeans, and black hoodie, he looked anything but an Xmen. No shiny stuff for him, no fancy buckles or anything. Street clothes all the way. "Can we get some good tunes in here or stop at McDonalds?"
Eyes might peer back at him from the front, but his squinted glare concentrated out the window. Maybe watching where the car had been wouldn't have him itching to drive. License or not, he frankly didn't give a care he would and did drive anyways. Lucky for him his feet worked just fine, it was the whole pelvis bone thing that was more tender then anything. Six to eight weeks, then he'd be good as new. Walking without the crutches was manageable, but he had a feeling having them around could be useful. "I could really use some McDonalds...."

"Empath in the car boys." Kealey said. There hadn't been any verbal sniping between the two, and Kealey didn't know any history, but the emotions of the two males were definitely less than optimal for two people who were probably going to be walking into a life threatening situation together. "If we could keep the angst to a minimum it would really be appreciated."
Sigh....teenagers. Sure, in recent months, Kealey really had gotten better at controlling her powers, but it was easy to forget just how angsty and willfully obstinate they could be. Still, training had to happen somehow, and maturity would come with time. The idea of dragging a kid around who was on crutches still seemed absolutely ridiculous to the blond, but if he got his other leg broke, maybe he'd learn something.
"And no. No McDonalds." Kealey hated the stuff.
They were approaching the scene of the disturbance when the police scanner on the dashboard crackled to life.
Three possible suspects, all in their mid-twenties. They seem to be rallying a large crowd that is quickly becoming violent. Riot police are en route, but the location of the rally and the crowded streets are hampering their approach. The suspects are in the middle of the crowd and the people surrounding them seem to be willing to protect them.
Kealey groaned a little. Of course. Of course her first mission as a team leader had to involve crowds...and maybe empaths.
"Right. So we're going to have trouble getting through the crowd. I'll see what I can do about the people who are in our way. You two keep them off me. Things might get a little intense when we get to the guys in the middle. If there's more than one of them, and they're strong enough to control a whole crowd like this, then I might really have my hands full. Jorge, you stay with me and help clear the path. Hokee, do you think that once we're close you can do your thing and get in behind them?" Heck. If he could, and did...maybe she'd rethink that whole McDonalds thing.

Jorge
The kid decided to speak and of course it was either to complain or to spout off some other type of ridiculousness that made the detective’s skin crawl. God what he would not give to just punch him, once. But Jorge kept his eyed focused on the road ahead, weaving in and out of traffic, trying to get to their destination in time. But every time that kid opened his mouth it just aggravated him. Thankfully his expression remained blank.
Unfortunately that was not the only way to read emotions.
>> "Empath in the car boys…If we could keep the angst to a minimum it would really be appreciated."
He glanced out of the corner of his eye to the team leader and with a look offered his apologies. He definitely did not like the kid but they were working for a greater cause today. For now he would push down those feelings and focus entirely on the mission at hand. Whatever it was. All he knew was that something was going on in the city that required the X-Men’s assistance. He hoped that the police that were there already could hold off until they got there.
Then the police scanner on the dashboard crackled on and he listened to the update…
An enraged mob? Possibly driven so by the effects of some mutant running amok. Definitely not something that was going to pretty. He hoped they could get there in time before someone was ripped limb-from-limb.
>> "Right. So we're going to have trouble getting through the crowd. I'll see what I can do about the people who are in our way. You two keep them off me. Things might get a little intense when we get to the guys in the middle. Hokee, do you think that once we're close you can do your thing and get in behind them?"
“Sounds like a plan,” he replied to his part in the job. So basically she was going to be using him as a human shield? Well it did seem as the most logical choice. It a mutant was riling all these people up then it made sense that Kealey going to need to be protected. Empath against raging emotions? She was definitely going to have her hands full.
He just prayed that water would be nearby.
Stepping on the gas, Jorge turned another corner and drove straight to the scene of rage-filled madness…
Someone was feeling a little catty in the front seat. With a roll of his eyes, Hokee continued to tap on the window with the crutch. "I need my mojo food." The police scanner in the front of the car was more annoying than anything. He hated those things, more then he hated Taylor...or close to it. Being a delinquent and getting stuck riding in the backseat with a police scanner on was not gaining either of the adults any points here, nope they were digging themselves a ditch for sure.
Moving the crutch off the window, he started to jab at the automatic windows. Maybe he could drown out the radio with a rush of air or something. Those things just didn't sit well with him in the slightest. Less angst. She wanted less angst, well how was he supposed to do that with being stuck in the backseat and hearing a stinking police scanner going off?
"Do my thing...." Hopefully there was a McDonalds right where they were going. Then he could hop his way in there get some apple pies and do his thing. Using the crutch to make the window go up and down, his eyes drifted out the back window of the car. If he was expected to hang on the side then drift in to do his thing, he needed to figure out what he could use. If it was a good six hour later in the day, then he would have prime time conditions but the afternoon. Joy.
The car's speed changed enough to catch Hokee off guard as his body nearly rocked out of the back seat of the car. Pulling himself back on the seat he couldn't help but curse under his breath. "Why don't you make a rainbow up in the sky or something instead of trying to kill us in traffic?" Man, the guy drove crazy. Sure he personally crashed a few cars but at least he didn't give others whiplash by just riding along. Groaning a bit, he started working on making himself comfortable in the back again. Looking out the window, he tried to get an idea of what kind of shadows me might have to work with. If he was going to be entering a crowd, he might be able to do that with other methods, but who knew for sure until they actually got there.
"You know how to get a crowd to disperse? Give them some nice hot McDonalds. Food shuts people up, free food...nice hot free french fries, hot apple pies......Double cheeseburger. Can't tell me I'm the only hungry one here." Poking the crutch at the window controls again, his head shifted to look through the back window again. Buildings, buildings, phone lines, electric lines, cars.....it was the city free runner's paradise. Now if only he hadn't broken his pelvis. Still, there was stuff he could do.

"You could always stay in the car." Kealey said, thinking that if that crutch hit the window one more time that she really might make him. "The doors lock from the outside, you know." Angsty teen was angsty with the empath at his own peril.
They were quickly approaching the scene and the three of them needed to be ready to go. Even if there was a small crowd, people whipped into a frenzy were dangerous. Right now, with the tension in the care, and the teenager...stuff happening in the back seat, they were anything but ready. Kealey sighed and twisted towards the back of the car so she could see Hokee, even if he wouldn't look at her. It was time to put on her big-girl pants and be a leader. She generally liked a softer touch, but they were kind of out of time.
"I hope you don't think this is a game, because If you don't, you're doing a good job of acting like it is. I can feel all the apathy and disgruntled emotional....stuff going on in your head. That isn't going to fly."
She was quiet for a moment as she gathered her thoughts, then spoke again. "The tension in here is thick enough to cut with a knife. I don't know what is going on with you two, but right now I don't care. I need a team with the right attitude."
"I'm not putting any of us in there without knowing we can work together, follow directions and be a team." In truth, Keaely felt kind of bad. Jorge hadn't done anything wrong....at least not openly. He wasn't happy about the situation though, and she knew it. Hokee was also just being a teenage boy...but being an X-team member meant you had to forget everything else you were sometimes.
"I'm not trying to sound like an angry soccer mom here, but I need to know before we get there if we can do this, or if I need to call in Shin and the other team."

Jorge
>> "Why don't you make a rainbow up in the sky or something instead of trying to kill us in traffic?"
More snarky comments. Jorge had half a mind to slam on the brakes and just send the kid reeling forward and smack his head into the back seat. A glance at the mirror proved that the boy was not buckled in. Maybe slamming his head into the seat would knock some sense into him? If not that then at least knock him unconscious long enough for him and Kealey to get this mission completed.
But Jorge was not that cruel.
Yet.
>> "You know how to get a crowd to disperse? Give them some nice hot McDonalds. Food shuts people up, free food...nice hot free french fries, hot apple pies......Double cheeseburger. Can't tell me I'm the only hungry one here."
…
He was sure the kid’s head was thick enough for a couple of smacks. But before the officer could finish his thought, he glanced out of the corner of his eye and saw Kealey turning around to face the back seat. Apparently whatever he was doing to keep his emotions in check was not really working. Plus he doubted that the boy was going anything to sugar coat his own feelings as well.
>> "I hope you don't think this is a game, because If you don't, you're doing a good job of acting like it is. I can feel all the apathy and disgruntled emotional....stuff going on in your head. That isn't going to fly…The tension in here is thick enough to cut with a knife. I don't know what is going on with you two, but right now I don't care. I need a team with the right attitude."
Jorge arched a brow. She was really attempting to reprimand him? Jorge really thought that the idea was funny, especially considering the vast difference in their ages.
>> "I'm not putting any of us in there without knowing we can work together, follow directions and be a team..I'm not trying to sound like an angry soccer mom here, but I need to know before we get there if we can do this, or if I need to call in Shin and the other team."
But he did not outwardly laugh or mock her power pushing in anyway. After all, she did have a point. If they were going to be X-Men, they needed to work as a team. They could not afford to not afford to not trust one another or to turn their backs on one another. In many ways, it reminded him of his training at the police academy. In the force you worked as unit, a family. You learn to trust and rely on one another. Anyone who attempts to take on the world by themselves usually ended up hurt…or worse.
He nodded but he didn’t really say anything. Jorge decided that he would let Kealey pull her leader rank to get them to shape up. This was a new experience for Jorge as well. He never worked with partners, not since his Vice days. Maybe he did need the talking to.
Jorge opened his mouth to say something. He wanted to offer his apologies to Kealey and to assure he that he would do his best. But all that came out of his mouth was a curse that followed a bottle smashing into the windshield of the car. Foaming liquid and glass obstructed his view as Jorge turned and swirled, trying not to slam the vehicle into anyone.
“SH----!!” he yelled. And pressed down hard on the brakes. In doing so, he peered out through the clearing liquid and spied the mob of crazed people. He shook his head as he glanced to Kealey. “I think it may be a bit late for that.” he mutted.
(OOC: Hey guys. I hope that it's okay that I got us to the scene. If you need me to edit, let me know! I can fix it.)
He honestly thought that Miss Taylor was bad, he could safely say after today that there was someone out there that ticked him off more. Smothering him in the backseat with her little scolding stunt was not helping matters at all. One thing for certain, he couldn't wait to get out of the car and into whatever mess they might be going into. He needed to get out of the mansion and back to the car shop. Travis was way cooler and more lax about stuff. Sure he made him go to real school but one thing he didn't do was treat him like a kid, that he could respect.
Attention might have been drawn to him, and a faint reflection in the rear window showed a rather aggravated female's face continuing to treat him like a three year old. She could scold him till her face turned blue, that stuff just wasn't going to work with him if anything more fuel was added to the fire. On the plus side, at least the pig wasn't talking. Boyfriend of Taylor or not, if that guy started in on him too, he'd make sure to leave his own mark. So what if the guy was an officer, for the time being he was just a normal guy and if by chance he 'accidentally' hit the guy, he certainly couldn't get nailed for assaulting an officer.
"Just let me drive back--" With profanity filling the car, and for once not from his own lips, his body flung forward in the car with the slammed breaks. Yeah, not having a seat belt on wasn't exactly the smartest thing, but he hadn't anticipated such an abrupt stop. Rolling onto the floor in the back seat, he was soon tangled in the crutches. The landing didn't hurt to bad, but later he'd make sure to take a nice dose to limber up. "S***." Untangling his body from the floor of the car, he couldn't help but roughly shove the crutches about out of his way. One thing for sure, he better not be held accountable for any kicking or slamming into the back of the seats of the car, it wasn't his fault.
Back up on the seat, his squinted eyes looked into the crowd that had formed. It was beautiful, like a freshly painted tag on the side of a building. Now this he could totally get into. "You go weed your way into the center, I do my thing. I so gots this." Throwing caution to the wind, his fingers found the handle for the door and was soon pushing it open. Grabbing the crutches, he was out the door. Speeding along the pavement he was soon close to the crowd. Hiding the crutches in a nook in the wall, he took the strides he needed to get to the edge of the crowd.
They had to find who was at the center of all this. Jorge and Kealey were going to go through this mob to find the epicenter, well he needed to get an idea for himself if he was going to be going all stealth. A quick glace at the sky and he knew the use of shadows was going to be limited, though there was more then one way to get lost in a crowd. A kid in the candy store, he soon picked up a few phrases to add to the noise while his presence blurred into the crowd. Stealing a quick glance towards the car, he took inventory of the rest of the teams location.

Wow. Yeah. This wasn't going well at all. If anything, the mood in the car got worse during her pep talk, and if Kealey wasn't mistaken Jorge was amused by the whole thing.
Really? Was the guy just letting her play leader and humoring her so she'd be quiet? Kealey didn't even want to address the teenager in the back seat again. She might as well have been talking to a brick wall for all he'd listened to her spiel. Not even a nod of acknowledgement.
This was a disaster.
Frustrated tears, fueled by all the nerves, tense feelings, and animosity in the car sprung to the empath's eyes, but were quickly blinked away. Kealey needed to be calm. Calm and ready, or she needed to wash out of her first mission as a team leader. She didn't have time though, a bottle hit the windshield and Jorge slammed on the brakes.
A veritable wave of emotion smacked Kealey in the face and she sat in the passenger seat, stunned for a moment as she tried to regain her balance. Yeah. This was too much. They weren't ready. The blond was reaching for her X-Com when the back door to the car opened and then slammed shut.
"What the...." she exclaimed, shifting around a little frantically in the car to try and see where the teen had gone and caught sight of him just before he melted into the crowd.
"Oh nooooo." she groaned, hands over her face for a moment before she struck out and hit the dashboard.
There wasn't time for this. Their youngest team member had just ran off, on his own, into a mob where he was probably going to be subject to the same powers the people were under. It was go time. They'd deal with the blatant insubordination and inability to follow orders later.
Kealey turned to Jorge.
"Like I said before. We need to get to the center of the crowd. I'll try to keep the crowd in check, but I'd planned to have a little more time before we actually moved in. I'm going to be distracted. Can you make a barrier around us that will keep people back, but not hurt them? If so. Let's go."
OOC – Jorge, feel free to godmod us moving into the crowd...Kealey being uber distracted, but calming the people around them. I dunno if you can make a barrier like she asked, but if so, this might be cool. : )

Jorge
Jorge had barely managed to keep the car from running up onto the sidewalk and taking out a lamp post. Thankfully he was able to slam the brakes on in time, even though the alcohol still smudged and frothed the glass in front of him. Even with his vision obstructed, though, Jorge could hear the ruckus that was happening outside. It was not hard to imagine that there indeed was a mess happening so it sounded like they were going to be in the thick of it.
But before he could even consider what their plan of action could be, he heard the noise happening in the backseat.
>> "You go weed your way into the center, I do my thing. I so gots this."
“Wha--?” he asked as he turned to see Hokee climbing out of the back seat, opening the back door and taking off. “Hokee! Wait, goddamit--!” he growled.
>> "What the…Oh nooooo."
The blonde slammed on the dashboard and he arched a brow. He knew she was an X-men but for whatever reason he had never really imagined her getting angry enough to slam her hands on the dashboard. It was interesting. Not funny, not amusing, just…interesting. He blinked the thoughts away though as she turned to face him…
>> "Like I said before. We need to get to the center of the crowd. I'll try to keep the crowd in check, but I'd planned to have a little more time before we actually moved in. Jorge nodded as he closed his eyes and reached out with his senses. He was picking up miniscule spots of nearby water. Not really enough to create one of his tidal shields. Maybe he could pulled them the water close enough to merge together but from what he was picking up it just did not seem like enou—
PING!
Suddenly he felt a large source of water. His eyes snapping open, he peered off to the side. Looking off he saw the squirt of water into the air. It was a water fountain. That was definitely going to be a heaven sent.
He nodded again to Kealey and immediately undid his seatbelt and climbed out of the car after her. And what he stepped into could only be the pure definition of mob mentality.
There was a crowd…no…a mob…no…there was a pure, living mass of people. It seemed like a near impossible number of people, all with which seemed to be practically foaming at the mouth and riled up into such a rage that they were actually tearing at their own clothing. He watched in shock as the riot unit seemed to be pinned against one small store front, their numbers hurt, cowering, or a part of the terrifying crowd. Jorge simply could not believe what was going on.
“NO MORE!!! NO MORE HYPOCRISY!!! DOWN WITH BIG BUSINESS!!! DOWN WITH THE GOVERNMENT!!!” he heard one voice shouting.
He snapped his head that direction and could scarcely make out the epicenter of the throng of growling, snarling, and chanting people. That had to be the person that was riling them all up. If the person was indeed using some mutant ability to cause it, then there was going to be little getting through to them. They would have to take out the mutant.
Stepping forward, Jorge muttered to Kealey. “Stay behind me,” he whispered as he reached out with both hands towards the water fountain.
Instantly the water responded, surged and snaked towards him. As it sloshed and spun across the pavement, Jorge stopped it before it threw itself at him and soaked both himself and Kealey. Another flick of his wrists and suddenly the water lurched upward and began to spun around him in a rapidly rushing wall of water. The light refracted into a kaleidoscope of colors as the afternoon sun filtered through. Momentarily the rainbows dotted across their eyes but Jorge kept his eyes forward. Slowly he began to march, focusing on keeping the water spinning at a fast enough speed to keep anyone from trying to reach through.
The voices in the crowd brought about a wide range in chorus hatred towards one thing or another. It didn't honestly matter what was being said, the fact that there was a huge gathering of people just shouting and yelling about was wicked amazing. It would have been nice if he was at the center of this all, cooing the masses of society to his own causes in life. The power that he could have, the power that he should have, the power that he wanted. If there was some way to get in the middle of this and claim all the credit for himself. Beautiful sight that would be.
He had to get closer had to get to the middle of it all, had to reign in all this angst for himself. Pushing about a bit, he soon realized that trying to get to the center from where he was, well it wasn't going to be easy. He needed to do this from a different approach. The rantings and chants in the crowd continued to weave in and out of his thoughts making it harder to concentrate on what he was doing or should be doing. His own mouth continued to add to the noise as he fought his way around the crowd. It was purely frustrating that he couldn't get closer, he needed to get closer...but it seemed everyone else wanted the same thing. They didn't deserve it, he did!
The teens elbow soon went into another person's face and a minor sort of riot started to spin into action. Great. This was not what he wanted. Pushing other people out of his way, the teen managed to weave his way out of the thick of it to the skirts of the edge of the crowd again. Cursing to himself, his eyes sought out for where he ditched the crutches. Yeah he could walk on his own now, but he had a feeling that they would be more helpful then anything.
With a slight limp, mostly due to the jostling in the crowd, he made it back to the storefronts where he stashed the crutches in the nook. From afar his eyes searched about the scene. He needed to figure a way to get closer to the center and get right in the heat of things. With his blood boiling already, he couldn't believe there was actually a protest out there he could relate to. Anti government, need he say anything on the matter. This was why he loved the Reservation, the freedom away from the government. At least on the Rez he could drive a car without all the hassle he did outside of it.
Be it the mutants in the middle of the crowd, the car trip there or just his hatred to the whole world in general right now, but a chord was struck. Away from the crowd, his mind started to clear a bit from the heat of inside the group. It was during this he could see at the edge of the crowd a freak water spout spinning on the ground. It took a bit for it to sink in, but the realization that the water spout had to be Jorge and Kealey brought him back to the reason why he was there. What was it again he was supposed to do?
Watching the spinning water, his eyes looked about the area trying to figure out how he was going to do anything. Pushing his way through was going to be impossible, at least like how he was right now. He needed to do this from a different angle. Looking up to the sky he spotted telephone wires running from buildings to telephone posts. Climbing up one of them might get him high enough, but the drop down into the crowd might leave him with a few broken bones. That sucked. Running a hand through his long locks of hair, his mind was a muddled mess. Whatever he did, it had to be fast...he couldn't think clear near the crowd.
Looking about he tried to spot something that might do something helpful. Then he saw something...it was a long shot but it might work. One of the city clean up golf carts was off to the side where the owner seemed to be caught up with a phone call. With a cover top....that would be useful. Sidewalk hot dog stand...golf cart...hot dogs...there was something he could do. The edges of his mouth twisted in a curl upwards.

The going was tough, but once Jorge managed to find a steady source of water, the tough were going. "Make sure the water's not moving fast enough to hurt anyone." The blond said, accent thick and voice strained from the effort she was putting to simply existing in the crowd.
The chanting, the boiling blood, the overwhelming frustration felt by every single person. Yes, this was definitely the work of an empath. Kealey would have known it anywhere. The question was whether they were as good as she was. Honestly, the X-Person doubted it. She'd had years to hone her powers, they'd had minutes. They were operating on pure instinct, she was operating on skill.
There were too many people in the square for Kealey to calm them all. Whatever had given these guys their powers had given them range as well as a lot of brute strength. She could do something though, "Jorge, I'm going to make sure you don't get caught up in the frenzy, okay? You let me know if you start to feel strange." Multi-tasking was hard, but necessary.
The question was, where to start? Kealey did her best to ignore the people who were already behind her and Jorge, and concentrate on those who were still in front. Despite the water shield, they were still trying to get through. There were so many emotions, and they were so strong, Kealey knew she wasn't going to be able to handle them all. So she focused on the fervor...that driving force that made people take action. They'd still be angry, but maybe this would calm them down enough to see reason and get out of the middle of the riot.
"Here we go..." she muttered, almost to herself, then started.
The strain was immense, and Kealey was sure now that the instigators in the middle of the crowd were artificially amping up the crowd. They were good, but she was better.
Focusing harder and reaching out a hand to grab Jorge's shirt to use as guidance, the blond pushed against the mental pressure and felt it budge, first a little bit, then more and more until she was firmly in control. A small victory, but a victory still. The crowd quieted a bit, just in the area around her and her team-member, but it was still something. Were they moving a little faster? Kealey didn't know, because the next moment the very same emotions she'd just tamped down reared against her control.
"Keep going...and keep an eye out for Hokee..." she said through clenched teeth. "Also...when we get to the middle, you've got to distract them somehow Jorge. I don't know how long I can keep this up. Scanner said there were three...."

Jorge
Jorge managed to swirl the water around him defensively. It spun fast enough to make anyone thing twice about trying to attack either himself or Kealey. But as in doing so, he found it slightly difficult to step forward. Jorge found that moving that much water to spin around two people in a shield, as well as following them wherever they walked without leaving a long trail of water behind him, was difficult enough. But there was something else that was giving him issue.
Deep in the back of his mind he could feel something clawing and digging at him. Something trying to make his blood boil and to increase the rage he already felt in his heart. But as much as it did so, Jorge was able to focus. Though he was quickly losing that war…
>> "Make sure the water's not moving fast enough to hurt anyone."
“Y-Yeah…” he groaned as he continued to swirl the watery shield around the pair of them. He trying to not lose his focus but the deeper into the throng of people he pushed them, the harder it was to keep focused.
>> "Jorge, I'm going to make sure you don't get caught up in the frenzy, okay? You let me know if you start to feel strange."
He nodded with a small smirk on his face.
“Much appreciated.” Jorge responded.
The water spun fast. Not a strong enough surge to actually break anyone’s arm, but enough so that if they tried to stick their hand it, it would be painfully knocked backwards. Normally keeping the water at such a delicate speed was difficult to the point that his lack of focus right now would have made it even harder. But, thankfully Kealey seemed to be having some sort of effect on him. He felt calmer. As a matter of fact many of the surrounding group seemed to be calming just fine.
Whatever Kealey was doing, it seemed to be having some kind of effect. He was indeed thankful for that.
>> "Keep going...and keep an eye out for Hokee...Also...when we get to the middle, you've got to distract them somehow Jorge. I don't know how long I can keep this up. Scanner said there were three...."
Jorge nodded.
“I’ll do what I can, Kealey,” he muttered as he tried to keep people from reaching into the shield of water. “I just wish I knew what we were dealing with besides just the rabble-rouser…”
Pushing closer to the epicenter of the screaming and ranting from the mob-maker, Jorge spied a large, distorted set of horns that peered out over the edge of the crowd of people. A few steps closer and he immediately spied another of the three that Kealey’s scanner had picked up. It was obvious that this other guy was indeed a mutant. Jorge could only shake his head in awe as he looked at the large, living minotaur that stormed and snorted in front of crowd, acting like a bodyguard to the younger man that was screaming for a riot.
“Well that’s two identified,” he mumbled. He had no idea what to expect for the third.
In the midst of all the chaos, there was a sense of serenity. Sick enough as it was, there was a time and placed for people to thrive and such, today was not just the moment for those in charge of the mob but for a certain teen who tended to act before thinking. More eyes seemed to be concerned about the growing crowd and less about what they should be doing. If it wasn't for the fact he was there on a mission, a little stop in the store for a five finger discount would be top priority. Tempting though, very tempting. Maybe if he was lucky enough, things could get taken care of, then he would be able to make a little pit stop for personal benefit.
Leaning on the side of the hot dog vender, his hands went to work quickly. Taking advantage of people getting distracted with the mob, he slipped a squirt bottle of ketchup and mustard into the back of his pants. He didn't have much to work with, but going on the fly of his pants he couldn't expect much. The six foot water spout continued to spin about in the crowd, and his eyes watched it with flare. Someone else was getting to the middle before him, they were going to claim all the credit. Hell to the no, he was not going to let that happen.
The spinning water wasn't to tall, just barely reaching over the tops of people's heads...this couldn't be natural this had to be...oh yeah....Jorge. Why would he want to....mission...Why couldn't he remember what he was supposed to be doing? Couldn't be that important, if it was, then he would remember it. Making a dash for the golf cart, his fingers were soon turning the key before he knew it. Crutches thrown in half hazardously, he was now driving the golf cart right towards the crowd. Jamming a mustard bottle under the dashboard and gas peddle. Setting the direction to the middle of the mob, he looked about the golf cart for anything else he could use. Jamming one crutch on the gas peddle as well, he was soon bailing out of the moving vehicle. With a cart heading through the people, of course with a few casualties, he could soon catch a glimpse of something he hadn't seen before.
Major freak alert. Something with horns was in the masses, and it was furry. This was purely more disgusting then the freaking bat monkey girl. Stripping down to nothing, he was forced to stay low and use the trail he made with the golf cart to get closer. The shadows were spotty at times, but moving quick enough he was able to keep to a bulk of them. The closer he got towards the freaky horned fur dude, the harder it was to remember what he was doing exactly. Though something soon happened he hadn't anticipated.
Someone or something must have done something as his mind cleared. Squinted eyes peered about quickly to see a purple man flailing about as the golf cart crashed into him. Was that why he could think more clearly? Either way, there was more to be done. He could see the swirling water drawing closer and thank goodness the direction it was coming from happened to be casting a shadow right on the hairy horned freak. Clamping his jaw down as teeth gnashed through the discomfort as muscles strained in a wobbled sprint. Feeling the breeze, he went all out as he pushed off the ground and jumped onto the back of the horned beast. His limbs wrapping around the fur sent his mind into a blur as hatred towards the government brewed again.
