Venus was already heading toward the scuffle, before the girl handled the situation. if the rat man was going to hurt the girl he was going to have to do it further away from their lifeless doors. another resident of the sanctuary took his spot where he left she was wearing a maid uniform as well, when Venus realized it was a good chance to get more of the residents dressed in the sexy garb he went for it.
"Sorry about that miss. Perhaps you'd like a piece of our most fantastic cake." poor little thing was lost in the crowd. "I'll pick and extra big slice for you if you like." he knelled removing the prongs from the rat man's chest and tossed him toward the building. where he landed in a graceless pile. but he was out of the way now and out of sight was out of mind.
The large man smiled kindly at the little blonde. almost like a cat at a mouse.
Aura took note of the scuffle and was able to make out a rat-man. She saw venus heading to the rat-man and a woman who had just downed the red with a tazer. It seemed like the type of situation that could make things go wrong and besides a mutant was involved, at least one anyway. Aura liked visible mutation's as they made it easier to spot those that could be killed and those she preferred to leave alive. She let a man dressed as butler take her space as she took rank beside venus.
Aura kept her aura off, it's natural state. Aura watched Venus toss the ratman nearer to the sanctuary. He was alive she assumed and tazers were not normally fatal, but she spotted the reason for Venus's handling of the man, a cute girl. "yes the Pie's have been a huge hit, please take one, or even two if you would like to tell a friend about our glorious Sanctuary" she said, mutant or not the girl likely had either human or mutant friends which either way would help their cause.
She hoped this would not derail their plans, after all they had someone wise guy out there believing they could get away with stealing from them. Aura was still angry about that and if she found the person out would enjoy making them regret their idiotic choice.
Surprised the girl watched as the crimson Butler lifted the rat man like a sheet of paper, and threw it so easily and with so little respect for human life. It was hard to decide in which side was the red man. Was he a good man? Or a devious criminal? She had doubts about that man, she did not know whether she should run, or let him protect her. Near that mountain of muscle, no mutant around could harm her. But while being his prisoner nobody would dare to try to save her. Doubting her good judgment and still frightened by the attack of the hairy man, the girl nodded dumbly and let the red-skinned giant guide her. Without much enthusiasm, she attempted to inform him that she had already had a slice, but she can not muster the courage to contradict him. At the same time, people looked at her accusingly. With hungry eyes. They judged her for what she did to that man, some whispered, others pointed at her without hiding, some mothers hugged their children jealously. So finally she decided it would be safer to be close to the organizers.
The promise of a new slice of cake achieved to take her out of her reverie, at least enough for her to capture a very important word. Sanctuary. Her hostess, the woman with the extremely tight maid's uniform, insisted she call her friends to share the sweet treasure. Unfortunately the girl had no friends. But she accepted the extra large slice. This particular cake was covered in a pink icing that was extremely delicious. "Sanctuary?" The girl asked before she put into her mouth a second spoonful of cake. She did not remember any sanctuary in that area. Maybe in Central Park, but not there.
He smiled to Aura. "The pie is doing quite well." He appreciated that she was at his side in a moment. in a world of mutant vs mutant it was nice to have someone that was there to back you up immediately even if typically you didn't need it. Aura was good wood.
Venus smiled kindly at the young woman, she would be gorgeous when she got older. For now she was adorable. "Yes, the sanctuary, a place for mutants to come and not worry about the world outside bothering them. Its free to any and all mutants. Its a good place to be."
He patted her lightly on the shoulder and shot a temporary glare at a man that was buzzing with what he assumed to be electric energy. he shook his head slightly and seemed to talk the friend of the rat man out of retaliating.
"it is, i don't like the reason we are having this. However one could hardly argue with the results. she said her eyes looking over the vast amount of people. Aura had no idea if sanctuary advertised or not but either way this was certainly getting word out that Sanctuary was here and was a vibrent community for mutants. SHe had no idea how long they had been at this, but despite the outfit and the vast number of humans she was doing ok. She felt no need to stab these people, after all theyn would be ascended humans soon enough and that in auras mind was the true gift they were giving out to these people.
"Yes sanctuary is a wonderful all mutant environment where we can learn and grow" she said to the younger girl with pride in her voice. Aura loved sanctuary and saw it as the best place any mutant could end up. Sanctuary understood the true issues facing their kind in her opinion. SHe was glad the rat man's friend calmed down, after all a fight right now would not be good, with luck most of the chaos would be safely away from sanctuary.
Aura could not really recall the last time so many mutants had gathered here much less the soon to be ascended humans. Aura smiled, as a bird mutant handed nearby and eyes the rat man for a moment before getting a slice of the pie for himself. Aura rubbed her head a moment and looked back at the Sanctuary doors, and shook her head a secound. She wonderd if whoever stole the doors color would really risk returning to sanctuary at all.
Now that the fear was slowly diluting in her blood along with adrenaline, her mind was returning gradually to its natural state of calm. And it told her that whatever happened, there was something that ought never to forget. The courtesy. So the girl hurried to honor her hosts with a well-practiced curtsey. One for each host. First she greeted the enthusiastic girl who loved the sanctuary and then the red man with that nice smile. "My name is Celeste Manfrella, nice to meet you." She also dedicated them the appropriate smile.
Once the initial greeting was done, and her brain was free from the worries of a wrong done social interaction, she was ready to continue the conversation. She did not know who to talk first, so she made the comment to both. To avoid leaving anyone out of the exchange of ideas. "I believed that only happened in the mansion." She commented casually, but could not remember the official name of the establishment. Anyway, the girl was sure there would be no mistake. Everyone in town knew the existence of the mutant mansion, as people commonly called it. Her mutant side spoke next, playing a dangerous game of espionage for which she was not prepared at all. "It's good to know that someone is solving some problems instead of creating them." She could not care less about mutants than the politicians who had organized the concentration camps. But now she knew that the "sanctuary" was a place full of mutants all her courage was gone.
Although her idea was to investigate and go away without being seen, the little incident with the rat man had made her the center of attention for the two managers. That made her very easy to remember and therefore capture. She decided to ignore that little red light flashing in her head. Warning signal that sighted something was going to go extremely wrong. And not even the fact that she had stolen something important from a sanctuary full of mutants made her left the place. She was enjoying that conversation. It was the first time in the week she was chatting without someone else beside her employees. That fact was sad but she did not let that sadness affect her. And smiled even more.
Venus looked to his accomplices on the busy street, They had been peddling the free cakes and other treats for hours now and the immediate area was still intact somehow, they were getting reports from lisa every so often of the chaos that was happening in their rival’s neighborhood.
The application of a scavenger hunt was fueling chaos and working like a charm, tension had been brewing more and more as the Russians tried to organize a proper resistance against the overbearing muscle that mutant crime syndicate could offer. They didn’t stand a chance in the long run, but the introduction of M. the temporary gene altering drug that the order was producing was evening the odds from time to time. Right now however it was unleashing a flood of M powered humans looking for and looting objects that would qualify them to win a hefty prize.
The idea had all started when someone had defaced their head quarters and demanded their participation in a volunteer give away of baked goods, but the order new how to make lemonade of lemons and this had taken an odd situation and made it into something at the very least amusing. But the answer of who was trying to manipulate them still stood.
He turned to the small girl that he had saved from the crowd. "Is this the first time you have been exposed to so many mutants?"
The plan seemed to be working well, the cakes were going fast and the chaos had largely avoided the area. A cute young kid curtsied to aura who just looked back as Celest with a tilt of her head. She had never seen the action before and had no idea what to make of it. She mentioned the mansion as well which gave Aura a very good idea where she lived. Aura could almost forget the real reason for this. She might not have liked the huge crowd but the chaos that was being reported made her smile.
Aura tilted her head at Abyss's question. It had never really ocurred to her the girl might be uncomfertable surrounded by so many of their kind. To Aura it was normal, she had always lived in places that were all mutant. Sanctuary had kept a few humans around for awhile but they had been tossed away. Aura was happy about that, the thought of touching a human made her ill.
"It is a good thing to be near so many of our kind." Aura offerd not really sure what to say to the kid. "Most of those living near sanctuary are of our kind as well" she continued trying to explain why the numbers of Mutants in the area. Sanctuary and the surrounding Area did have a great number of their kind. To Aura it was a thing of beauty, somthing nearly holy.
The mountain of muscles spoke again in a voice that he seemed to have stolen from someone much less strong. She hoped that that red-lipped mouth, surrounded with skin of crimson would use a voice from hell, capable of shaking buildings and kill people with a whisper, however his voice was quite normal. A voice that seemed not to belong to him and that did not announce the strength of his arms. The simply fact he did not to talk like a bear, infuriated her, but of course she did not say it.
She attempted to squeeze the meaning of the question, trying to figure out what he wanted to hear. Was it a trick question? Had he discovered who she was? Perhaps he had discovered and just wanted to see how sincere she was... but perhaps he did not know and he was just asking. Of course being a mutant transformed him into a manipulative creature, so maybe he was doing both at once without even noticing it. "No." Pause. "On a visit to the mansion, I found an event which was full of mutants..." While thinking how to finish the sentence, she ate one small piece of the pie on her plate. "... But on that occasion they were more quiet." Just by looking around she could clearly see that the free cake had changed them into uncivilized people, though perhaps she was just exaggerating... because no accident had occurred, yet she could not get that idea out of her head. The idea that in the mansion the mutants had been more orderly. A little more willing to follow orders.
The woman spoke next, again full of pride and positive emotions toward the Sanctuary and all the mutants that surrounded it. She was proud to be a mutant. And while that would have to intimidate her, she could not help but become extremely curious about the woman's words. She had always feared mutants, simply because she could not fight them, not with her powers... and also because having a x gene meant that her once perfect DNA was now cursed... but still she could not deny that she had powers, and even if she did not like it she was likely a mutant. "I also have powers." Said the girl carefully, without showing much interest in the phrase and trying not to lift her voice so much. She knew very well that if they required a demonstration, it might give them a clear idea of who stolen the color of the doors. Knowing that maybe she would have to answer that question later, she began to seek in her mind for a power which could pretended with her own. "I hate to admit it because I hate the word mutant... How do you call yourself?" Again the question was addressed to both. So, she looked at both alternately as she ended her question. Perhaps she would find a way to call herself that would not ruin her social status.
“ah, The Mansion. They are an interesting lot, another group bound to looking out for each other. Though they see the world through a different view all together, they aren’t so bad.” He looked to the young lady with a smirk and answered once more in his silky baritone. “It’s the cake you know. Let them eat cake the note said. And so they are.” Venus smiled inwardly; Marie Antoinette would not have liked the result this cake had on the common folk outside her gates he was sure.
A simple nod for acknowledgement to the girls power, perhaps she was sanctuary resident he had yet to meet, then again she seemed reluctant to say it. He was puzzled by that. “ Do you not care for your gifts?” perhaps she had something unbecoming of a lady, visions of the girl shape shifting into something horrifying came to mind, or some power that involved vomiting. Mutations were not always glamorous.
“In any other age we would have been called Gods. Science notates us as homo superior. Personally I don’t mind the term Mutant, but it does have a certain derogatory taste to it doesn’t it. Perhaps we should simply be called Primus, Latin for best.” He shifted his eyes from the cake in front of him to the girl between Aura and him. She seemed as if she were treading water and she wanted to know if she was in too deep. “Regardless of what we called, it is what we are that truly matters. Don’t hate who you are sweet girl.”
"The mansion people are fools but they are our people, as all Mutant's are and they will understand the truths they willing keep them selfs blind of" she said shaking her head. The mansion people were not evil just horribly misguided and failed to understand the issues humanity and mutant kind would soon have. Peace even if achieved could never last as in Aura's mind humanity and Mutant kind were simply do simmeler and different to get along.
Aura was a bit disturbed that the young mutant did not seem to enjoy her powers. To Aura a person who lived and who was herself convinced she would die by them, this was an issue that always caused her pain in her heart. Their people needed pride in what they were and what they could do, their powers to Aura was as much a part of them as her arm was to her. Aura was happy when abyss replied to the girl first.
"Whatever we are it is our destiny to inherit this plant from the Humans and our powers are natures way of replacing humanity." Aura had never considered the term Mutant to be anything bad, it was simply what they were after all. Still Aura had simply been told that was what she was and had never botherd to question the word or for that matter know what else it could mean. "The day will come when the last human dies and the world is covered in our people alone" she said with a soft smile. It really was a beautiful thought.
Apparently the mansion, the school for mutants, was a sensitive subject where she was now. For the man the people living there were interesting, perhaps more like strange things to analyze than as human beings. And the woman just thought they were just idiots, well she had crossed paths with some mutants with less wits than a snail, but still they could not be all fools in there. Would there be any internal conflict between them that she was not aware of? She needed to investigate later, perhaps that knowledge would serve in the future. Since she did not want to choose sides without getting to know both contestants, she nodded innocently as only a beautiful lady as she knew to do. Perhaps with her beauty she would be able to outshine both and achieve to get away unscathed.
The note. He mentioned the note. Celeste knew too well what it said, that beautiful sheet of paper that had captured her beautiful calligraphy with letters made of real gold. Still she could not prevent a sudden nervousness from climbing up her back up to her head. She knew by heart every word in the note, but they ought not to know that. So in an attempt to save her neck, she just nodded again dodging the phrase with elegance but trying to pretend confusion. On the surface the water was not too deep but it was too dark to be able to see the bottom of the pond . It was so quiet on the exterior but concealed a hole deep enough to drown her if she was not carefully.
She hastened to reply, conscious that she was surrounded by mutants that could feel offended if she said to not be comfortable with her powers. "I do. I love my powers. But I cant use them to fight." It was not a lie, she really loved all she could do with her stolen colors, but it was also hard to ignore the fact that now she was part of the minority called Mutant. Most of them were common people that were not very successful in the world.
The conversation followed its course, and the man reported that mutants had been gods in another era . It was a shock to hear those words. According to what she knew about mutant history, they had appeared thirty years ago, not a time where someone would call them gods. Maybe there where mutants before. While the question was still floating in her head, she heard a very beautiful word. "Primus." Repeated the girl with her own lips, savoring the sound and power of that word. "I really like the sound of it." She confessed, after beginning to forget the taste of that ancestral language.
"Inherit the earth?" This time she repeated the words, not for enjoyment but to confirm that the girl had actually said that. Momentarily all her attention focused on her while she continued her speech about using their powers to overthrow the humans and take the world. Celeste was at least smart enough not to ask what humans did to deserve such fate. Discrimination. Mutant registration laws. Concentration camps. Still all that speech about mutants could not prepare her for the prophecy of the. Her words brought chills throughout her whole body. From feet to head. "Is it true? Are they going to kill all humans?" The words escaped from her throat impregnated with fear. Although she would survive, her parents were human, her whole family were humans, including all her beloved employees.
“Power isn’t always meant for violence, sometimes it is meant to create instead of destroy, whatever you do, you can find a wicked use for your skill if you look hard enough.
He nodded. “Primus, are the primary, the greatest, the note worthy.”
Venus shook his head slightly. “Someone who refuses to see is worse off than those who are blind.” It was the sad truth, the world didn’t appreciate what nature had given them, if they bent their knees and worshiped mutants as they had done in the past then they could have obtained and appreciate the greatness of old. Instead they lived in jealousy.
Venus Shook his head. “ That isn’t quite what she said. While it may be true there is strife between humans and mutants, it is a truth of nature that natural selection favors the better, the faster, the stronger. Each generation takes the best of the prior. At some point Mutants will be the obvious victor in the survival of the fittest. It could be decades or centuries before that utopia comes to fruition.
“Worry not little one, whatever human you are concerned for need not worry for their life just yet.” He stated patting the little blondes hand. His eye landed on the very shade of gold that the doors used to hold. It was of course coincidence hut one that reminded him of whoever was responsible for all of this.
"The world must have those who create and those who destroy. It can not run without both." SHe said agreeing with Venus. If everyone were meant to fight the war's would never stop and sociaty would consume itself. With only creators the world would collapse on itself as well. He was also right in that as Aura took from Venus, everyones power had a use and a reason for being. Aura had never known the word Primus, but now that she knew it's meaning, she knew it described their kind as if created for them.
"Right, Humanity will fall eventually with or without our aide. Humanity's instincts tell it this and so some of them react in violence, weather then calmly waiting for their exit. The only diffrence between Human's and any other dieing species, is humanity could end the world" She said thoughtfully. She may not have understood what nuclear weapons were, but she had been shown more then one example of what they did.
"What can you do with your powers, we may well be able to help you find a use and purpose for them you may not have. Living here, we have both seen a great number of our glorious kind" she said with pride. She often enjoyed sitting in the foyer and watching new mutants walk into sanctuary Many of them had a look of wonder in their eyes as they gazed on the place for the first time.
Once again Celeste was in need to hide under a mask of innocence, only that this time, the feeling won against her self-control and showed her true colors. She grinned. "What could be more wicked than to steal the golden from some doors to ask for a tasty ransom later?" Even with that smile of triumph highlighting the beauty of her face, Celeste could not ignore the fact that her victory was not complete. At any time any of these mutants might discover her and attack without her being able to do anything with her stolen colors to defend herself.
The philosophical content of the talk ranged from moment to moment, but her ears caught every word with delight. They did not need to continue explaining the meaning of the word Primus, that was glorious by itself, but they still kept adding adjectives unaware that Celeste had already decided to use that term for life. Better than a witch. Better than a mutant.
She was learning so much more about mutant society that in all the times she had visited the mansion, a fact that was rather odd considering that the mansion was also a school. Still, she had never learned anything useful there. But in that strange place called Sanctuary she did not only found a name to be proud of, but also that the mutants could be fighters or creators. Of course she was in the second group. The creators. Even when she only stole colors.
Their reassuring words transformed her fear in little doubt. As the woman exemplified humans resorted to violence against mutants and that would be the cause of their destruction, not a organized attack against all the human kind. And although both had changed their explanation enough to reduce her fear, the threat was still there. Far or near, this was an event that she did not wish to attend.
All the awkward mental simulations she had attempted in the few moments of silence turned out to be useless, the question let her mind blank. She looked almost in despair to her two hosts as her brain began to look for something interesting to say. Finally she resorted to a silly accusation that Chase had done, clearly not appreciating her skill. She did not know why she had remembered that, but she was grateful to it happened. "I make things prettier." "Or uglier." The same mischievous smile formed on her lips again.
