>> "Yeah, tha's totally fine! Yer busy an' Ah shouldnae take sae much of yer time away from Jasmine. Ye two are sae cute; Ah hope Ah find someain who can make meh as happy as Jasmine."
“T-Thank you,” she replied with a smile.
Agnes blushed at the praise but smiled and nodded her head. She knew that Jasmine and she were good together. That was why she was so confused about her momentary attraction to Rebecca. It had to have been just a lapse in judgment, a passing thing, nothing more. After all, who would want to or even could possibly hurt someone like Jasmine? Agnes knew that she couldn’t. That was why she was going to keep her head on straight from now on. Jasmine was her focus…no one else…
She was glad that Rebecca was okay with taking a rain check on hanging out at the mall. She was even more happy that Rebecca did not beg her to join she and Jasmine. Not that Agnes would have been annoyed or anything, but simply because she would have felt that whole situation would be awkward. Rebecca has yet to meet Jasmine, and vice versa, and the runaway doubted that their first meeting should be after she had nearly kissed the redheaded Scot.
For now, it was best that both parties should remain separate.
Agnes threw another empty bag of chips into a trash bag and paused as she looked about. The room was clean. Absolutely no other sign of the party was present.
>> "Ah'm gonna get back tae mah room…Have a great night t'night! Ah'll see ye around, Ah'm sure."
For a second, Agnes felt it again. That racing of her blood in her veins the second that she felt Rebecca come up and wrap her arm around her for a hug. Agnes’ breath caught in her throat but she passed it off as a little cough. She nodded as she hugged Rebecca back, in the same one-armed manner, and leaned away from her. For a second Agnes thought about changing her mind. Maybe she should go out with Rebecca, try to repair that bond of friendship she came fractions of a second away from destroying.
But she knew better.
She nodded her thanks to Rebecca as she turned to walk away.
“Thank you,” she replied as she tied the trash bag closed. She then straightened up and turned her gaze back onto Rebecca. “Um, Happy birthday, again.”
She smiled as she hefted up the trash bag and began to carry it away…
