The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> “I don’t believe in God anymore. I’m sorry.”
Rebecca felt Agnes move her head forward ever so slightly, just enough that Rebecca's forehead was no longer resting against it. Rebecca's arms hung a little loosely but remained around Agnes.
Admittedly, she had never known many Atheists. (She did not count old teenage friends who were trying their hardest to defy parents.) She could not imagine her world without God, but she had admittedly lived a life filled with blessings thus far. She was the sort of girl whose faith was strengthened by the small things like nature's beauty or the selfless kindness of a person with nothing to gain from it.
For Agnes though, the story was different. Why should she believe in God? Her experience with Him was a being her parents used to justify mutilating her. If she could even believe in God, would she have any reason not to hate him?
The thought renewed the fury Rebecca already felt toward Agnes's parents. If Agnes had come to choose Atheism after leading a normal life, it would undeniably be her choice and Rebecca could respect it. What bothered her was the idea that what those barbarians did to her could have played any role in Agnes turning away from God. For someone to be so awful that they could kill God in another's eyes... as sins go, that was unforgivable.
Still, those sad excuses of human beings were not important right now; not as important as the tear-stained girl in Rebecca's arms. She tightened her grip again and spoke brightly and genuinely. "Ye dornt hae tae apologize! As lang as ye dornt min' 'at Ah dae." She hoped that Rebecca's faith would not rub Agnes the wrong way after all she had been through.
Despite the seriousness of the moment, Rebecca could no longer remain oblivious to a problem: her butt had fallen asleep sitting in one position for so long. Deciding that it had been too long since she had faced her friend, she released Agnes from her arms, but not from her care. Rebecca turned herself around and leaned back. She shuffled to the left, ending up laying on her back, looking up at Agnes's face.
Still wanting to keep some physical contact with Agnes, Rebecca's outstretched hand rested on the damp cheek of Agnes. "An' whether ye believe it ur nae, Ah thenk God fer ye."
She smiled, meeting Agnes's shimmering eyes, amazed that even through her tears, you could still see her beauty. "Yoo're a blessin'."
It was hard for her to say that outloud. For a long time her unbelief in God had been little more than a silent measure for her; something that she did not voice but had always danced around in the back of her mind. Agnes had never had to actually say the words out loud. It was as if she did not want to admit to something that she knew was true about herself.
Growing up, her parents had drilled it into her head from early on the scripture, a belief in God and the devil. And Agnes accepted it without issue. Obviously, why should she had fought against it? Her parents were her world and therefore why should she question them? They believed in God and His teachings therefore why shouldn’t she? She loved them unconditionally throughout her entire life, even when her brother Dante waged his silent war against them.
It was when she became a mutant that things changed. That she realized just how wrong her parents were, just how diluted their beliefs were and how dangerous they could be. It seemed that when she was exorcised, instead of releasing a demon, all her parents had done was drain all the respect and love she had for them from her very blood. No longer could she hold love for them…or for God.
>> "Ye dornt hae tae apologize! As lang as ye dornt min' 'at Ah dae."
Agnes sniffled and shook her head. She was not her parents. She did not care what other people believed in so long as they did not try to force it on her. After she ran from her parents, Agnes had vowed to never be like them. They judged everyone as a sinner, they hated and despised anyone from a different ethnicity, a different orientation, a different religion, nobody was safe from their hatred. Agnes was not going to end up like that.
She cared about Rebecca, a lot, so she was not going to despise her for believing in God.
The warmth of her friend’s body began to shift and Agnes scooted over a bit. Her friend was probably getting uncomfortable sitting in this position for so long. As she moved, she turned her gaze over as Rebecca laid onto her back, gazing up at Agnes with such a look that the runaway could feel the chill melting away from inside her veins. The redhead had reached up and began to stroke her cheek and Agnes tilted her head, into the touch and sighed.
She really, really did not deserve friends like this.
>> "An' whether ye believe it ur nae, Ah thenk God fer ye…Yoo're a blessin'."
More tears stung her eyes as Agnes felt her breath catch in her throat. Rebecca was far too nice for her. Why was she her friend? Surely the other girls on campus would be far more accommodating for Rebecca to be around. They had sunnier attitudes that would meld well with Rebecca’s. Agnes, she knew that the majority of time, she was anything but.
She shook her head gently as she reached up and carefully placed her hand over Rebecca’s, letting her cold fingers warm up against the Scot’s pale skin.
“T-Thank you. I…I really don’t deserve you as a friend,” she muttered.

>> “T-Thank you. I…I really don’t deserve you as a friend."
Rebecca furrowed her brow, unhappy with Agnes's comment. Rebecca was just a person, and there was no reason that Agnes should not "deserve" her. "Dornt ye dare say 'at. Yoo've bin here fer me through a confusin' time. Ye lit me know someain always cares."
Her words were not hollow. Rebecca was in a new world with a new identity and Agnes had been there to support her. Gina was also an amazing friend, but Agnes just clicked. They were different people, but Rebecca liked that.
Agnes's hand placed over her own felt familiar-- welcomed. Rebecca felt her heartbeat running away, determined to help Agnes realize how important their friendship was to Rebecca. Her hand shifted behind Agnes's head and pulled her down toward Rebecca. The end result was having her friend in a close hug, both now on their sides laying on the ground.
Rebecca locked her eyes on the now closer blue eyes of Agnes. She ignored her fluttering heart; nerves would not control her. "Ah am lucky tae hae known ye. All Ah want is tae be here fer ye when ye need me most."
She bumped her forehead teasingly against Agnes's, smirking. "Ah'll be yer guardian angel."
Rebecca was not sure what the scene might look like to anyone passing by, but that did not matter. If she could be there for Agnes, other people would deal with it.
>> "Dornt ye dare say 'at. Yoo've bin here fer me through a confusin' time. Ye lit me know someain always cares."
Agnes had turned her attention onto Rebecca as the redhead lay on the floor next to her. Agnes was always the type to be down on herself and make sure that everybody knew it. It was not because the runaway was looking for pity or self-validation, she really and truly believed that she was really not all that important in the grand scheme of the world. She had suffered, yes, but sometimes that was just a person’s lot in life. At least that was what Agnes had grown to believe.
She was only now coming out of her shell and actually accepting that she had a right to happiness too. But it was a rough road and it was like pulling teeth to get the girl to admit that. Gina always had to remind her, Jasmine had a tough time getting through to her, and now it seemed like the battle would continue with Rebecca.
So many times Agnes was told that she had self worth. A few times she believed it but they were rare and far in between.
Agnes was still lost in her thoughts of mentally tearing herself down when she felt the tender gesture of Rebecca’s own hand as it slipped free. Their pale hands clasped and Agnes felt herself being pulled down. Instantly her heart began to flutter a little at the feeling of herself lying next to the redheaded Scot. Her blood thundered in her ears as she found herself lying next to Rebecca, looking into those two different colored eyes.
Arms wrapped around her and Agnes felt herself in another warm hug and she sighed a bit. Damn Rebecca for feeling so comfortable…
>> "Ah am lucky tae hae known ye. All Ah want is tae be here fer ye when ye need me most."
Rebecca brushed her forehead against hers and immediately Agnes felt her eyes welling up with more tears. No matter how many times she heard that people cared about her, whenever someone said it and meant it, Agnes simply felt on cloud nine…
>> "Ah'll be yer guardian angel."
A blush crept over her cheeks. Being this close to Rebecca, forehead’s touching, eyes looking into each others, it seemed so intimate. It seemed more like it was something that should have happened between lovers, not just friends. But Agnes knew the impossibility of this. She liked Rebecca, just, not in that way…right? Besides, Rebecca’s gesture right now was not out of intimacy but out of loving friendship.
That’s all it was…friendship.
Then why was her heart still pounding in her ears?
Agnes took a second to shake off the feeling as she stared back into her friend’s eyes. Her wings fluttered nervously before calming down against the length of her back.
“Thank you. Y-You don’t know how much it means to me for someone to say that,” she whispered. Then she nodded with a small smile on her face. “And, same goes for you, got it? I’ll be here for you too.”
It was only after realizing how dangerously close she was to Rebecca that Agnes felt a sudden need to get up and start cleaning the mess that party had left in the common room. Anything to distract her mind, anything to keep from making a mistake right now…

“Thank you. Y-You don’t know how much it means to me for someone to say that. And, same goes for you, got it? I’ll be here for you too.”
Rebecca nodded, a permanent smile lighting up her face. "Thank ye... Ah dunnae whit it would 'ave been like if Ah never met ye." She closed her eyes, feeling a calm sweep back over her body now that the tension of the moment seemed to have passed. "Ah bet it woulda sucked."
Rebecca yawned; despite how late she had already slept, being there with Agnes was warm and soft and making her tired. "We need tae clean, dornt we?" She pursed her lips into a whiny pout. "Why are ye so comfy!?"
They probably had to get up, but that did not mean she had to like it. She would moan and groan if it meant winning a few more minutes without getting up or leaving the warmth of Agnes's arms. "Ah blame ye," she teased, sticking her tongue out at the face looking back at her.
>> "Thank ye... Ah dunnae whit it would 'ave been like if Ah never met ye…Ah bet it woulda sucked."
Agnes actually smiled at that comment. The chilliness from earlier was totally melting away and filling the teen up with a sense of warmth that she did not think she was capable of. Rarely did she ever feel like this. Agnes’ life had been so full of terror and pain that the few moments she found happiness she was always surprised. It seemed as if her life had finally turned a chapter. She did have a right to be happy.
“Ditto,” was all she said with a playful smirk on her face.
Agnes loved all her friends. She truly did. That was probably because when she was still living at home, her mother and father scarcely let her talk to anyone outside of school. She never hung out with other kids unless they were other church goers and they were always just as depressed as she was. Up until almost a year and a half ago, Agnes had never even really known what it was like to have fun. That was why she was so grateful for the friends she did have, including Rebecca.
She sighed though as she looked past the redhead who had closed her eyes and noted the room around them was still in shambles. Agnes really did not want to clean it up at the moment but she knew that they had little choice. After all, they had made the mess so it was only fair that they clean it up.
But Agnes found herself far too comfortable in Rebecca’s arms to really find the will to do so.
>> "We need tae clean, dornt we? Why are ye so comfy!?... Ah blame ye,"
A small smile appeared across her face as she looked at Rebecca. The Scot really was quite adorable as she laid there, hugging her and trying to drift back off to sleep. Her little whimpers to want to stay where she was, the soft in and out of her breathing, the stains on her cheeks where tears had dried away, each and every freckle on her skin, they were all attributes that Agnes could not help but note. But why was she paying such close attention? It was not like she ever did something like that with Gina.
In was in that moment when she felt Rebecca shift a little in her arms that the runaway suddenly found herself enraptured by her. The fall of her hair across her features, the feeling of her warm skin, the lines of her lips…all of it seemed to pull Agnes closer and closer.
Gently she swallowed her fear as she leaned closer, swept up in a current that she was having a difficult time fighting back against. Her breath mingled with Rebecca’s and in that moment Agnes knew that her lips were within a fraction of brushing against Rebecca’s. Then—
Agnes blinked as she paused, only a hair’s width away from kissing Rebecca. She turned her head back to the source of that sound...her red and black spotted cell phone that was sitting on a nearby coffee table. Instantly she blushed, full of embarrassment as the ringtone that played could only mean one thing…Jasmine was calling. Swiftly she recoiled, trying not to startle Rebecca.
“I-I’m sorry,” she whispered as she moved, a little reluctantly away from the redhead, and reached for her phone. Quickly she snapped it up and hit the answer button. “J-Jasmine! Hi honey!” she said with a sigh, taking a second to advert her gaze from Rebecca and the embarrassment that was sure to fill her mind for days to come…

Rebecca's eyes were closed, but there were some senses the young woman could not turn off, namely her mutant sense. After the nights festivities, Agnes had fallen asleep with her earrings in, and the metal was emitting a small field she could pinpoint. Specifically, the field was inching, (or if it were a real term, millimetering) closer to Rebecca.
Agnes was drawing closer... should Rebecca open her eyes? Should she mention something? What was happening...
She opened her eyes a sliver to look down. Agnes's lips were getting closer...
Was she going to kiss Rebecca?
...Was that what came next? They were close, sharing body warmth. Agnes cared about her... and being the moment did not feel wrong. Wasn't that the right moment for something like this?
Rebecca thought about saying something, but she was not sure what to say. Instead, she closed her eyes. If she did not know what to do, maybe it was best to just let what might happen... well, happen.
She could feel soft breath near her lips. For the briefest moment, she could have sworn there might have been soft contact...
“Kiiiiisssss me…!”
Rebecca's eyes flared open at the oddly fitting ringtone. She pulled back just as Agnes did the same.
>> “I-I’m sorry.”
"J-Jasmine! Hi honey!”
Rebecca tried avoiding eye contact, not out of shame, but rather a vain attempt to hide her crimson face. "I-it's fine. Ah'll just get tae cleaning!" She got to her feet quickly, finding the nearest discarded pizza box.
Agnes had not seen Rebecca peek at her as she moved closer. For all she knew, Rebecca had drifted off to sleep and had no clue of what almost happened.
She almost kissed Agnes! In hindsight, she could not believe how close it got and how little she did. She should have said something-- she was not a lesbian after all, right?
She shook it off, picking up some chips that were on the counter, sliding them into the trash. She idly touched her bottom lip with her finger. The sensation of warm breath still left her tingling. Was that normal too?
Rebecca looked over her shoulder to Agnes, a phone to her ear with Jasmine on the other end. Rebecca almost got Agnes to cheat! Her heart sank at the thought. "Tell her Ah said hi!" An' tha' Ah'm a tease an' a whore an' confused.
She shook her head to herself, picking up a cookie from last night and occupying herself by munching on it, trying to clear her mind.
>> “"I-it's fine. Ah'll just get tae cleaning!"
Agnes had barely heard Rebecca when she called out after she dashed away to get to the phone. She did not know why Rebecca sounded so flustered. God, did she actually see her try to kiss her? But she kept her eyes closed, how could she have possibly known? Quickly she banished the thoughts though as she went about trying to focus her attention to her actual girlfriend on the phone.
“Jasmine! H-How’re you doing?!” she beamed as she spoke through the phone, almost as if Jasmine could actually see her.
The runaway was flushed looking, beet red with embarrassment and angry with herself for having done something so foolish. She really could not wrap her head around just as utterly stupid that was! What was that anyways?! Agnes knew that she had better control than that and yet here she was, nearly destroying not just one relationship but two! Rebecca was not attracted to girls and Jasmine did not deserve to be cheated on.
So angry with herself, Agnes stammered as she spoke to Jasmine on the phone, trying to keep her composure. She could not afford to lose grip on herself right now. There was no telling if Rebecca had even caught onto what she had nearly done. She was not saying anything and if she had no clue then Agnes was definitely going to keep it that way.
She could always hate herself silently…
>> "Tell her Ah said hi!"
“Oh, uh, I will!” she smiled in Rebecca’s general direction but did not dare look at the redhead. She turned back to the phone as she idly began to pace to the hallway and hide herself around the corner. “Yeah, Rebecca says ‘hi’,” Agnes said over the phone as she pressed herself back against the wall. “Oh, the party was…fun. Yeah…no…no…things didn’t get too crazy…yeah…” she sniffled mutely but nodded her head as she could feel a tear or two welling up at the corners of her eyes. “…I…I wish you were here too…hon…I mean it…”
Idle conversation continued for another moment or two as Agnes described a couple of the events that had taken place the last night. The fun of the birthday party, the meeting of new people, and how it was fun but it would have been more so if Jasmine had been able to join. The whole time though, Agnes was mentally beating herself up over what had happened in there. It was just crazy to think that she had nearly cheated on Jasmine with Rebecca over some confusing feelings that she was angry with herself for not resolving yet.
But finally, Agnes slowly calmed as she listened to Jasmine describe her boring evening with her family. She smiled as she listened to her girlfriend’s voice, thankful that what had nearly happened actually didn’t. She was confused, yes, but she would deal with that afterward.
Finally, Agnes sighed and whispered a “goodbye” to Jasmine with a promise to see her later that day. Closing her phone, Agnes took a deep breath and sighed as she pressed herself back against the wall, almost not wanting to go back into the room. But she knew that was not an option. She could not just avoid Rebecca like that, especially after she had promised to be by her side in a friendly capacity.
It was a mistake, though, that near kiss. She knew it was. She was feeling vulnerable, Rebecca was so sweet, and at that second Agnes was just confused. Jasmine meant a lot to her and she knew she could never cheat on her, not after Agnes had been on the receiving end of a relationship like that. When Rhythm cheated on her, Agnes had felt so betrayed, she could never do that to Jasmine…and definitely never to Rebecca.
Neither young woman deserved that. Strengthening herself, Agnes sighed again as she slipped back into the room, slipping her phone back into her pocket.
She watched Rebecca for a moment as she started to clean and gave her a shy, awkward smile before she finally averted her gaze.

Rebecca was cleaning like a tornado, running on the anxiety of a near-kiss-experience, feeling like a stupid friend. Was she leading Agnes on? Rebecca had been rather touchy with her new friend. Maybe it was too much for Agnes; maybe it led to feelings of intimacy.
Thinking about it, Rebecca was not usually so touchy with her friends. This brand of friendship certainly never happened back in Scotland, even though she had some best friends at home as well. What was the difference with Agnes? Was there something that drew Rebecca to keep Agnes so close? Something that drew an arm around the thin waist or a hand to the pale cheeks?
Agnes came back into the room, and Rebecca could already feel her pulse rising. She had to figure out a way not to be awkward around her best friend. She needed Agnes in her life and the opposite was true as well.
>> “Um…J-Jasmine says hi…and Happy Birthday…”
Rebecca could feel a hole in her heart at the well-wishing from a girl she almost betrayed. She felt guilty and... well, some other emotion that was weighing on her. She smiled through it all. "Tha's sweet!"
If Agnes thought that Rebecca knew what almost happened, there was no way she was going to act normally. Rebecca hated lying or misleading, but she had to fix things. "It's ay good thing she called. If yoor phone ne'er went off, Ah was well on mah way t'sleep." Hopefully the thought of Rebecca barely conscious would help Agnes thing nothing was noticed.
Rebecca was returning soda bottles to the kitchenette fridge, and trying to establish some definitions on a friendship that sorely needed them. "We shoulds go out sometime! Ye know, the two of ye, meh, and mebbe Ah can find someone to take along. Mebbe some nice gent like Drew?" Drew was a handsome lad, but when thinking of a possible double date, she just thought about Jasmine with an arm around Agnes.
The idea of the two girls cuddling always left Rebecca with a warm fuzzy feeling. This time however, it left her with a nauseous feeling. Something green. Sick with guilt.
Or green with envy?
What on Earth was going on in the poor Scot's mind?
Agnes could already feel the shift in her own reactions towards Rebecca. She knew that was not right. Rebecca did not deserve you be shunned or treated as some abnormality just because Agnes did not know how to control herself around the young Scot. It was a momentary lapse in judgment, nothing more. She cared about Jasmine very much and she did not want to harm her in any way. And Rebecca was her friend. She was going to need to get over this and get over it now…
Rebecca was busying herself in cleaning so Agnes decided to do the same. She tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear as she leaned down and began to gather up a few of the blankets and pillows that had been left behind. Carefully she folded and set them aside on the couch, trying to think of something to say. How could she tell if Rebecca had even seen what she had nearly done?
Her inability of knowing the truth of that was going to drive her mind. Maybe there was some way that she could subtly bring the topic up to Rebecca? Silly sounding. But still…maybe it was worth a shot…
Agnes had moved on to gathering up her sleeping bag and started to zip it up and fold it when her friend spoke up again…
>> "It's ay good thing she called. If yoor phone ne'er went off, Ah was well on mah way t'sleep.”
Sleep? So…Rebecca really had fallen asleep in that short amount of time? Agnes had to admit that Rebecca surely did look awfully sleepy and scarcely able to keep her eyes open in that moment. Hope began to grow in her chest that maybe Rebecca really had no idea what had happened. Maybe she had not ruined their friendship after all.
The thought of that relieved the runaway a bit but she did not back that fact known. Instead she only smiled and nodded at Rebecca’s comment as she continued to clean up. She truly hoped that she was not reading too much into this, that her friend really had been asleep. But for now, instead of questioning it, Agnes would only hold onto those meager strains of hope that Rebecca had not noticed her mistake.
She sighed and stood up, looking across at the rest of the trash and disheveled furniture in the room. In a way she was thankful for it all. It would serve as a good distraction…
>> "We shoulds go out sometime! Ye know, the two of ye, meh, and mebbe Ah can find someone to take along. Mebbe some nice gent like Drew?"
Her breath caught in her throat but thankfully she had her back to Rebecca as she was kneeling down, trying to pick up some fallen, crumpled bags of empty potato chips. She crushed them between her hands as she nodded her head. Rebecca and Drew together, that…well…they would make a cute couple! And they seemed like they got along well, so why not? It was not like she were really attracted to Rebecca or she could feel jealous! Such though, the silliness of it! No, Drew would be good for Rebecca and vice versa. At least he was extremely nice and not like many of the other jerks who have hit on her before.
Yet, still, imagining the two of them together made her hot under the ears. It was probably just left over embarrassment from earlier. That would eventually go away.
“Sure, Jasmine and I, we’d…love to,” she said with a small smile as she stood up and finally turned to face Rebecca. “And…I think you’ll…really like Drew. He’s such nice guy and very handsome. I honestly cannot think of anyone else better for you,” she said encouragingly.
There…it was established. Rebecca had no interest in Agnes, she like boys. That was the end of that. Time now for Agnes to bury those foolish thoughts…for good...

>> “Sure, Jasmine and I, we’d…love to. And…I think you’ll…really like Drew. He’s such nice guy and very handsome. I honestly cannot think of anyone else better for you.”
Agnes was so supportive, even if her voice was hesitant. Did Agnes really have some sort of crush on her or was it just the heat of the moment that led to their near kiss? There was no way that could be true... Jasmine sounded so great. There was no way Rebecca could convince her otherwise; she was too plain for that.
As for Drew, he seemed interesting, and he was handsome. Sort of a quiet man, but he did manage to handle a room comprised mostly of teenage girls. He made her blush... but he did not give her butterflies like... some people. "Yeah... he seems nice. Ah mean, it shoulds be fun."
What was wrong with her? She was feeling so unimpressed by a young man she found rather attractive the night before. She was not a lesbian. Maybe it was the thrill of knowing she was almost kissed that was crossing her circuits. It was a new sensation for her, (besides that one bus kiss,) and it was logical that it could lead to symptoms of infatuation.
So she was infatuated with Agnes. It was a phase and she was sure it would pass.
Maybe she just needed a kiss from a handsome man. There was a chance for that if she played her cards right after all. That date could not be a double with Agnes though; she suggested the idea, but having her there would probably make it impossible to focus on Drew.
"I honestly cannot think of anyone else better for you.”
She shrugged at that last thought. "It's still tay early tae say somethin' like 'at thocht! Ah barely knoo anyain here; fer noo, he's jist a boy." And that was what she probably needed right now, right?
>> "Yeah... he seems nice. Ah mean, it shoulds be fun."
Agnes nodded encouragingly. It was not because that the runaway just wanted to foist Rebecca off on someone, anyone. But she did know that Drew was very nice, extremely brave, and it would be a good match for her. At least for now. If Rebecca didn’t want to marry the guy, that was fine. It was just the simple idea that Rebecca would be dating someone else that was sweet and nice, well, it should have a sobering effect on her. Maybe finally clear out the cobwebs of her confusion concerning the redheaded Scot and the matter of their own relationship.
The last thing in the world she wanted was to ruin their relationship or to make matters awkward because she felt any attraction at all towards her. That needed to stop.
She sighed as she continued trying to fix up some of the future that had gone askew due to their partying and stack up DVDs and board games that they had played. This morning was far too confusing for her to make any sense of things anymore. All she wanted was for her world to make sense again…
>> "It's still tay early tae say somethin' like 'at thocht! Ah barely knoo anyain here; fer noo, he's jist a boy."
Agnes smirked a little, trying hard to not laugh at the shrug and the comment.
“True. Still plenty of other men’s hearts ensnare,” she said with a smirk and wink. It was a playful gesture, nothing more.
Agnes had a feeling that Rebecca would be the object of attraction to many of the boys on campus and secretly she hoped that it was true. She needed to focus on her own relationship with a wonderful girl who actually cared about her very much, not some fantasy that stalked the shadowy corners at the back of her mind. She cared about Rebecca, a lot. Just…not in that way…
…at least she hoped.
She moved over to collect another fallen blanket when suddenly she stepped on something that squished against her heel. It was such a disgusting feeling that Agnes “ewww!”-ed at the feeling and lifted her foot. There, squished against her skin was a small mass of multi-colored gummi bears that had been abandoned during the party.
“Ugh!” she groaned as she began to peel them off. By the smell alone she knew EXACTLY to whom they had belonged. “I’m so killing Gina.”

>> “True. Still plenty of other men’s hearts ensnare.”
Rebecca laughed at the thought of walking around the halls, beckoning other Mansion residents with bedroom eyes. The thought was so foreign, she was surprised it even came from her mind. Giggling uncontrollably, she grabbed a throw-pillow and tossed it in Agnes's direction. "Waw, way tae make me soond like a tease!" She punctuated the accusation with a wink.
The thought was almost funny in a twisted way since the only person she was apparently teasing was Agnes herself. Hopefully when her phase passed, things would stay normal between the two. (Normal was, of course, a relative term.)
>> "Ugh! I’m so killing Gina.”
Rebecca looked back to her friend scraping colorful globules from her feet. Still giggling from the last comment, she shook her head. "The little terror leaves quite th' mess, huh?"
The room was quickly turning around back into form. What happened next? She should probably get back to her room. Maybe a little space would be a good idea for the two. Agnes probably wanted to clear her mind and remind herself that Jasmine was her focus, whereas Rebecca had to learn to deal with the confused heart palpitations Agnes caused her.
She should take the day off from Agnes... it was the safe choice.
...Or she could leave the choice to Agnes. "Ah have some laundry tae dae, but woulds ye like tae go tae the mall ur catch a movie?" If Agnes was up for hanging out, Rebecca could always take her break the next day.
A throw-pillow suddenly went flying towards her followed by the sound of giggling and laughing. Agnes laughed as well, the image quite funny in her head. Thankfully she raised her arms to defend her head and caught the pillow and it dully thumped against her skin.
Rebecca sauntering around the mansion, winking and making men lose all control of themselves, yeah, the runaway could definitely see that for young Scot. Not that Agnes at all thought that Rebecca was some wandering temptress or anything! Oh heavens no! Whatever that moment was where she nearly kissed her, that was brought on all by herself. She did not blame Rebecca at all for it. And Agnes will move past it.
She sighed though as she pulled the last of the gummi bears off her bare foot and tossed it into the trash bag.

“You’ve no idea,” she said with a grin as she went about, tossing stuff away into trash bags and organizing the rest of the disheveled room. When everything actually began to look decent again, she sighed in triumph. At least the common room looked like itself again. Then though, she raised her eyes at Rebecca.
Now that she had nothing to distract her, she found herself watching the young Scot as she moved about, finishing up her side of the room. Agnes could not help thinking back to that moment merely seconds ago where she nearly kissed her. Agnes forced herself to believe that it was only because she had been upset and that it was Rebecca’s comforting presence that made her want to experiment with kissing her. That was all it was. No attraction, no temptations, simply the spur of the moment.
Watching her though, she could already feel her thoughts floating back to Jasmine. That was so unfair. Agnes never wanted to hurt her. And she definitely did not want to ruin things with Rebecca. She liked having her as a friend and would have hated to have spoiled that in any way.
Thankfully the redhead had dozed off in that moment…
When Rebecca looked back up, Agnes was in the process of closing up a bag of trash.

She paused. In all honesty, she really would have loved to. Just to get out of the mansion. But the back of her brain nagged at her that it was not right. She needed time away from Rebecca, just a little bit at least so that she could get her bearings again and focus on Jasmine. After all, she was supposed to meet with Jasmine later today anyways and she did not want to go into that with her head befuddled by random thoughts.
No, a break would serve them both really well.
“Um…c-can I take a rain check?” she said with a small smile. “I’m supposed to meet Jasmine later and I need to shower and clean my room and a hundred other things. That’s okay…right?”

Rebecca probably should have guessed that on a free day Agnes might want to take some time spending her night with her girlfriend. It was for the best; it would give her some distance from the temptation Rebecca had made herself and it would remind her that Jasmine was what Agnes wanted, and that Rebecca was a passing desire.
The thought saddened her, even though she knew it should not. She had to ignore any possible totally-not-jealousy she had for Jasmine keeping Agnes for the day. She flashed a bright smile. "Yeah, tha's totally fine! Yer busy an' Ah shouldnae take sae much of yer time away from Jasmine. Ye two are sae cute; Ah hope Ah find someain who can make meh as happy as Jasmine."
Rebecca cringed out of Agnes's sight, not sure why she would say something like that after what happened. The room was clean, so it was best if she just kept from doing more damage. "Ah'm gonna get back tae mah room," she said with a weak smile, feeling painfully awkward where she was. "Have a great night t'night! Ah'll see ye around, Ah'm sure."
Not wanting to make it obvious that anything was on her mind or bothering her, Rebecca gave Agnes a goodbye hug; nothing too intimate, but a simple arm around her back and a quick squeeze before she turned to leave. She would probably spend her day quietly with her thoughts in her room. Maybe she would write. Get confused feelings into stanzas and out of her head and heart.
