The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She didn't know how Santa did it, getting to every house in the whole world in one night, finding the perfect present for each person. She had a hard enough time with just her small list of people that included about five people at the mansion and the kids at the oracle shop.
She'd also run out of money somewhere along the line and had to borrow some from her mom with the promise to wash the dishes every night all through January without a single complaint.
Even though she had done most of her shopping at garage sales and baked for hours and hours making free but delicious presents, she'd still run out and had to ask her mother for help.
She had to do it, because she'd found the perfect present for Slate.
First, though, she delivered Calley's gift: a vaporeon plushie and a the catnip plant from Slate that they were saying was from her.
Carrick got a whole box of gushers fruit snacks and a coupon for a free picnic.
Koga got a whole batch of peanut butter cookies, the kind that had chocolate kisses pressed into the top.
Cafas' present was a pair of official kilt stockings. The tall ones with the black ribbon at the top to keep them from sliding down to his ankles when they should have stayed at his knees. Technically they were a normal pair of socks, but Katrina had sewn on the official ribbons that made them into official kilt socks.
Slate was not available to receive his present, and because she wanted to give it to him in person, she decided to wait until after delivering the presents to the shop.
By the time she got there, everyone was asleep except Eros who let her in. Even though it was freezing cold outside, she felt instantly warm all over when he answered the door.
“Merry Christmas!” She grinned up at him, but refrained from hugging him. That wasn't as against the rules as kissing him, even if it was on the cheek, but she wanted to be careful anyway. His mutation was apparently tricky, even though none of them at the shop fully understood it.
“I brought presents,” she whispered. In a few minutes she managed to sneak them all under the tree where the kids would find them in the morning.
Marco got new neon shoelaces for his running shoes.
Elias received a tuna casserole with an extra can of tuna on the side. The casserole she actually put in the fridge. She put a note for him with the can under the tree.
For Letitia she had scrounged up a whole shoebox of remnant yarn balls for rat sweaters.
Eros got a homemade apple pie.
Julia and Crow got pretzel sticks hand dipped in dark chocolate and white chocolate, respectively
And finally for Alister, a magic 8 ball.
Out of all of them, she was most proud of her presents for Kaitlyn and Jude, though.
Kaitlyn got Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey, to read during the most boring parts of spying as well as a real magnifying glass. The garage sales had been very kind.
Jude got a coupon, clearly hand drawn. It read “Most Romantic Date Ever Coupon: Dinner for two at the Northern Lights Restaurant. Dress fancy and call this number for reservations and transportation.” She already called ahead, the staff at the labs was expecting them, most likely for New Years, but they could be ready at any time.
She made sure the pile of presents looked nice and shiny, then sneaked back out the door again, with a wink to Eros on her way.
It was very late by the time she got back to the mansion and she was quite tired. She didn't even bother to go all the way upstairs to her bedroom, but collapsed on the living room couch with her winter coat as her blanket. Slate's present was still tucked under her arm when she fell asleep, wrapped in plain brown paper with shooting stars and planets cut from other shiny papers glued on for decorations.
