The city that never sleeps, the Big Apple....yeah something like that. Even with the threat of school nearby, he couldn't bear to bring himself inside and study. Sure the fate of the rest of his life was at stake, but he didn't really want to go to school. Could he hold a job and fool Travis that he was going to school but really just skip out? It was hard to know for sure with the guy, he seemed lenient on some things but then other things he wasn't. School seemed to be one of those things he couldn't talk himself out of. What he'd give to have charisma skills that could get him out of it.
With his car parked in an alley, Hokee's eyes drifted towards the outsides of the buildings. He couldn't wait until winter was over, then he could really get some good street running in. Falling on his butt from ice was not something he wanted to do, not when he was sleeping in his car and depending on Travis for some shelter standards. Hospital visits were out of the question, though a trip to the ER might postpone his enrollment into school.
Glancing up, the squinted eyes pushed his body forward to a fire escape. With a few good strides, he was able to pick up enough momentum and kick himself up into the air grabbing on the cold metal rungs. Swinging his body back and forth, his legs soon swung around and he was climbing through the stairs. Clanking of metal under his feet echoed through the alley as the white noise of cars and horns droned on. Flight after flight his legs pumped their way skyward.
Turning around the last set of steps, the falling sun sunk into the buildings. Brilliant shade of orange filled the sky as the smog of the city tainted its beauty. A sunset in the heart of the city was so drastically different then the rolling hills in the Reservation. A bit warm from running up a million flights of stairs, he was soon unzipping his coat slightly to air out his body.
Now what? How the hell am I going to do this? Pushing his body a bit further, he kept his legs jogging in place. It couldn't be to strange for a kid to be hanging up on the roofs in the residential area, right? As his eyes flickered back and forth, he could see the empty poles where in the summer months laundry might hang to dry or little kites swirling about in the breeze. People lived here, hopefully normal ones that didn't have lizard gills or extra appendages.
He had a good feeling Cree didn't spend her mornings sitting at a desk in the local High Schools....so he would be stuck trying to figure out some good excuse why he wasn't available at certain times. Man this really sucked. School was getting in his way of trying to score with Cree. Was it to much to ask for just some good old fashion making out? Yes he had a job, but if he wanted to make money he'd have to work after school hours and he doubted there would be much free time for himself if Travis really was all slap happy about this school crap. His life was over, farewell freedom.
"Should just turn myself in for blowing up the DMV." Sure he couldn't impress Cree much at all if he was behind bars, but at least in jail he wouldn't have to worry about holding up any real commitment to education. Plus behind bars people didn't have high expectations or any real aspirations. The legs, those jaw dropping legs... Behind bars he wouldn't be able to make out, at least not with Cree. Zipping up his coat a bit, he could feel a shudder working its way down to the tips of his toes. "Damn tests..."
