If there was one place in the whole mansion where he was least likely to be, it had to be the library. The thought of sitting in the room full of books and such just reminded him to much of typical schooling, something he promised himself he would never do again. GED, forget it. Collage, why bother. The only reason he was taking any sort of class currently was just to keep Taylor off his back, and it also gave him an excuse to work with fixing up a car for himself.
Shuffling a deck of cards in his hands as he walked through the stacks, he couldn't help but let his eyes wander about slightly. The titles of the books seemed fairly normal, the same junk that lined the walls back at home. Sure there was plenty of good stuff in there, but it all meant he had to read, and reading was not his thing. Looking at pictures in a magazine was another thing though, there was nothing wrong with pictures.
Leaning against the column for a moment, he did a quick look before settling down into a chair at a table. Flipping the cards over one by one, the idea of playing solitaire brought the taste of moth balls in his mouth. Flicking a card up into the air, the teen was soon leaning back in his chair left in more boredom then he had started with.
Another class would give him something else to do...but with classes came homework and that was even further down on his 'to do' list. Teetering back and forth on two legs of the chair, he finally gave up on his procrastination. With all four legs on the ground again, his fingers toyed with the playing cards again. He could have made a run to the Rez near the casino instead of going to NYC. Then he might be able to pick up an easy job there and really roll in a bit of money. Can't change the past, he was stuck.
Taking two cards, he set them on their edge horizontally making a 't'. Upon removing his hands from the cards, they stood on their own. It wasn't much of anything, but a good start. Slowly card by card was added to the beginning two until a square foundation was built. Holding his breath, the questionable addition commenced. Making his starting 't', the second level of his card structure was on its way, that was until a stray dreadlock knocked into the side of his structure. Quicker then it took to go up, the cards soon splattered on the table top in a pile mess. Hokee's arm swept across the table top pushing the rubble out of the way. Two cards in hands again, the process started over.
Partway through the first layer, Hokee's hands reached into his head of hair as he pulled two dreadlocks from the back of his head. With the two strands he swept his hair into a make shift ponytail clasping it together by tying the two strands together. It should hold, for the time being. Without the risk of his hair destroying his work, the teen was able to make the foundation for the second level.
Wasting time in the library building a card house, the humor of it all. Pleased with his creation, he leaned back in his chair slightly. A deck of cards and nothing to do, and this was what he could claim for the day. He needed to find something else to do before he made Buckingham Palace. Kicking the bottom of the table, he mildly watched the work fall in a heap again. Rising out of the chair it was time to find something better to do...maybe he could find the monkey girl and toss bananas at her....
