The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Apparently mutant abilities weren't the only thing that she seemed to stop, the woman wasn't even showing the slightest signs of irritation from him no matter how much he pushed her. It was interesting if nothing else. There were no pleas for help either, and she finally had dropped the subject of finding out what his name was. Weird, but it was working. He certainly didn't like being pushed into saying things that he didn't want to do, and he most certainly didn't want to do things he hadn't planned on doing. With no parents around and no more grandparents, he was a free soul to do what ever the hell he wanted to do. This was a sweet taste of freedom he had no intention of giving up on.
With the trunk slamming shut, he could feel the car bounce a bit under him. "So you got this magic bubble area....how big is it?" If she had the ability to stop him from being able to shift in the shadows, he damn well wanted to know how far away he needed to be from her in order for it to work. "What if one of them, what if they shot fire missiles or had acid spit and shot it at you. You fizzle that out or something?" It would have been nice if he had acid spit, though it might be annoying at times.
The whole explanation behind the why wasn't all that thrilling, but he couldn't get something entertaining every time. Still he knew who did all the work, seemed like the Guidance Counselor was also the school maid service or mother of sorts.
Before consenting to any tours, there were other things he need to know. "Cameras? There cameras on the other side of that door?" Shifting on the car, he laid back against the windshield stretching his legs across the hood of the car. "If there are cameras, one shot with them and you'll turn my ass in or anyone else in there. How do I know you wont do anything funny on me?" Swishing his fingers in the now empty fry holder, he gathered the salt to lick off his fingers.
"Need a collateral....keys to the car for a starter." It was worth a shot. He obviously had nothing to threaten her with and he didn't like the idea of being on the other end of the stick, at least not until he knew a bit more. He hadn't thought of before traveling about people like her. She might mean good or whatever but at the same time just being near her put him at a severe disadvantage.

Oh yes. He was definitely a mutant. Or a mutant-lover. Gemma would not have voted for the latter, solely based on the idea that she doubted this kid woulf get fanatic about something that was not directly connected to him. To show this much interest, he had to be a mutant. She filed that away to be pursued later.
"Depends. It nullified anything that is solely created or held together by mutant powers." she avoided the exact numbers on purpose "As for the acid, I don't know. Fausto doesn't usually spit at people. Not at me anyway."
Just in case he thought it was such an original idea.
>>"Cameras? There cameras on the other side of that door? If there are cameras, one shot with them and you'll turn my ass in or anyone else in there. How do I know you wont do anything funny on me? Need a collateral....keys to the car for a starter."
Gemma turned around and walked back to the car, dropping the shopping bags on the hood, and leaning against it as she looked at him.
"All right, here is the deal." she said with a slight smirk "You are on my turf now. That means no one's gonna come and get you, not on my watch. But it also means you gotta follow my rules. It's easy: I don't care where you come from or what kind of crap you have to deal with. I know it's tough and I'm gonna be doing everything I can to make it easier. In return, you are not gonna use any of that as an excuse. Not here. Everyone has got crap to deal with, you are not an exception. Hurt any of my kids, you are going straight to the police. Same goes for stealing or destroying things. I don't ask you to trust me, but I damn well expect you to respect this place and what it stands for. Follow those rules and we are going to get along just fine. Threaten my family and you are otta here."
With that made abundantly clear, she smiled and picked up the bags.
"Get your butt off my car, I don't have all night to baby you."
With the curvature of the hood of the car, his attention drifted towards the ceiling of the garage. "Uh huh...so Acid kid doesn't spit at you. Still didn't answer the question though. Your little bubble area. Magical realm of mutant cure." Made sense, the bits of information that he needed to know were the very ones that she was withholding, not that he had room to talk seeing how he wouldn't give any form of name to her.
It was in his relaxed position on the car that he happened to push a button on the woman. Nothing like ruffling the feathers of the Hen of the House. One woman he shouldn't, but he did though there wasn't much he could do about it now. Still, he had to know how far he could push her, it was important to know such things and vital for survival.
As the law of the house was thrust upon him verbally, he took little interest in what was said. However it was very ingreging that her domestic duties postponed long enough to lean on the car herself. The clunk of the bags on the hood could be felt from his ass all the way down to the rubber soles of his shoes. She meant business that was for sure. The slitted eyes shifted their gaze towards her as his arms stretched out over his head.
"Blind trust in your word." Adjusting his legs, he let the palm of his sneakers lay flat on the hood. "And let me guess, I'm expected to trail behind you in your little bubble area so none of the big bad mutants will do anything. Then I get ditched into a room with some freak who is half monkey or something." Turning his head he finally gave her his attention. "Sure you might not do anything, but what is going to stop anyone from doing something once you're asleep? Or do you have some special plug in bed that covers this whole place with your anti mutant mojo?"
She wanted his ass off the car, fine. Not like it was a bed of feathers. "As soon as I walk through that door nothing is going to be the same. Expect me to walk into that like its nothing, I don't think so. I ain't promising anything and don't expect nothing from me." Jumping off the car he walked around the driver's side till he got to the trunk. "Threaten to kick me out, how welcoming. I know where you shop and I know how to get into cars. I'm sure I could find some mutant hating people who would love to play house here. Should I just go out and find them now or will you give me something other than you're word that I can rest at night without flashing lights? Its just keys." Leaning over the trunk the ends of his deadlocks brushed the paint job. "You go out, I go out. Simple."

>>"Uh huh...so Acid kid doesn't spit at you. Still didn't answer the question though. Your little bubble area. Magical realm of mutant cure."
If she had any doubts about the kid being a mutant, they were way gone by now. She smirked, and ignored the question.
He kept on ranting. Kid sure knew how to drive a hard bargain. She listened politely, with her head slightly tilted, mildly amused and not shocked at all. She thought about the countless times she had to do this with other teenagers. She knew the drill. But she had to give him that, the kid was smart. And cautious. He could probably survive on the streets for a long time, whatever his power was. That is, until it got freezing cold...

An elegant eyebrow was arched at that. Gemma smiled, and gracefully adjusted the shopping bags in her arms. It was not worth it putting them down again.
"And just what do you think I get out of this bargain, hm?" she asked with a half smile "Your delightful and entertaining company? I am sure that's worth fighting for. Why do you think I brought you here? I am sure you can do great out there in the cold, with all the people lining up who are willing to trust you and give you a chance. After all, this city is full of safe places for kids like you to get free rooms and food without breaking the law. Really, piece of cake."
Turning around, she walked to the door and juggled with the bags a bit to open it, before she looked back.
"As for the other kids in here, they are my problem, and if I can take responsibility for anything, I can promise you not one of them would dare to hurt you. They are here under the same conditions I just told you, and they know better. Newcomers don't get roommates straight away unless they ask for it."
She knew she had his attention.
"As for the police: have you ever heard of MRC? Mutant Related Crimes unit. The NYPD works with mutant officers, some of them come from this very school. This is probably the only place in the city where the police does not show up unexpected. As I said. You trust us, we trust you."
A smile was offered, more genuine this time. Friendly, and a little bit mischievous.
"As for my aura: you can figure that out for yourself. Just keep walking closer until your powers stop working. That's all. Are you coming, or what?"
So she wasn't as dumb as he hoped for, it was a long shot but maybe if he went after her long enough she'd cave in. There were a few ways to get someone to shut up, and with her hands full it limited her options. "I said you leave I leave, nothing about entertaining you. Let me dumb it down for you, make it clear in adult talk. You take the car out, I get to go where I please and when you come back I'll be at that gate." Really, the simple things seemed to be the hardest aspects. Was it honestly to much to ask for something simple to hold knowing that the word was true.
"Keys, hubcaps?" At this point in time he was about ready to open the fuse box for the car and take a few ransom. Shifting to behind the car, his body dropped down. Eye level with the license plate, his fingers stared to play with the screws holding it on. "All the kids here go in on your blind word?" He just needed to stall her for a bit more until he got something of value to hold on to. "Liability and all that, health insurance.... "
He maybe still considered a child under the views of the government and all, but he was out on his own. He knew some stuff. Plus he rather enjoyed his tax exempt card and how he basically had free medical coverage. There were some benefits to being of a nationality that was basically taken over and kicked into poverty. Plus he lived with his grandparents, great folks and all but there were some aspects of his life he'd rather they didn't get to involved with.
Twisting the screws off, he finally got what he wanted. Plucking the plastic case off the metal plate, he attached the shield back on again but kept the license plate out. Great thing about New York, you had to have two plates to drive. If she wasn't going to give him the keys, well he was going to make it possible so she couldn't go anywhere on him. He certainly wasn't going to get ditched behind when she went out. Not having any clue what it would be like in the school, he certainly didn't want to get caged in either. Holding the plate ransom wasn't exactly stealing and he definitely didn't damage anything yet. This was a matter of borrowing without permission.
Standing up, Hokee swung the metal plate under his armpit. "So the tour, then get a room and leave me alone for tonight." It was evening, so he had every right in the world to want to be left alone. Plus why would he want to hang out with her more then he needed to. One thing for sure, he wanted to make sure once he was away from her that his powers worked fine. Not being able to hide in shadows wasn't exactly something he was enjoying at all. "I live through the night, I put it back."

He was still not making sense. But at this point it didn't matter either. Gemma watched with an arched eyebrow as the kid took the license plate off her car. He had nerve, she had to give him that.
>>"Keys, hubcaps? All the kids here go in on your blind word? Liability and all that, health insurance.... So the tour, then get a room and leave me alone for tonight. I live through the night, I put it back."
"I'll hold you to that" she nodded with a smirk, happy that they finally got inside. She lead the way, switching lights on and off as needed.
"Kitchen. Food. Unless it has a name on it it's free. You don't have to steal it to eat it." she chuckled, putting the shopping bags down and motioning to him to follow her. "Living room. TV, books. Down that hallways is the library, you don't need to see that right now. Offices that way, girls' wing this way, off limits. Boy's wing that way."
They had to stop by her office to get keys for the rooms.
"You can usually find me either here, or in my room, or in the kitchen, in case you need anything. Now let's go find you a room."
There were still empty rooms left; kids come and go all the time. Opening one of the doors, she handed him the key.
"Welcome to Xavier's. See you at breakfast tomorrow. Good night..."
