The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>"Don't follow. What, did he make himself look older or something? Am I missing something?"
Sveta nodded. Yes and yes.
"He was grown up once before" she explained "Then he went back to being a kid, and people treated him like a kid, and he didn't like that. So now that he can use other people's powers, he made himself as old as he should be. He is twenty-something" she smirked "It is weird. I didn't even recognize him ar first."
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
"Uh. No." She looked at Sveta blankly. "He's like eleven. I don't even know what you're saying." She blinked.
What was Sveta saying? Grown up before? Grew down? Then got treated like a little kid? The Jude she knew was the sweet kid Ghost had adopted. The one who played in ball pits at Chuck E. Cheese's with his dear old dad. His dear old dad who could change ages.
Jude had never been able to do anything like that before... not until recently. He was dealing with it, last she'd seen him. So...
"I don't understand, Sveta." Amelia said gravely. "His real age is the one on his birth certificate. That's what really matters. Not the age his body is, or how old he thinks he is... No matter how much he changes his outward appearance... maturity takes time."
It was mind-boggling, really. Really.
It was like in Back to the Future II, when Marty went to 1985 and it was Biff's 1985, and everything had changed. Mind-blowing. It was like the whole world was upside-down and everything had changed.
"How does Jude looking older make him older? It doesn't make sense." She pouted, not really thinking about what next came out of her mouth. "Why are you such a cradle-robber, when you've got a perfectly fine older man right in front of your face?"
>>"I don't understand, Sveta. His real age is the one on his birth certificate. That's what really matters. Not the age his body is, or how old he thinks he is... No matter how much he changes his outward appearance... maturity takes time."
Sveta blinked and sighed. It really was complicated.
"It is like... the book with the wardrobe" she tried "He lived as a grown-up in an alternative time and then woke up and he was a kid again. But he had memories of being grown up."
That was about as close as she could get.
>>"How does Jude looking older make him older? It doesn't make sense. Why are you such a cradle-robber, when you've got a perfectly fine older man right in front of your face?"
Sveta stared. And stared. What did she jus call her?...
"I'm not... what?" she shook her head "What do you mean?"

It only took a second. It was the longest second of realization in the history of the world. What had she just said?
"Uh."
Amelia's first instinct? Run.
She didn't trust it.
"I mean... how can you date Jude, when... despite what he says, he's still just a kid?" Alternate timelines, Narnia garbage, whatever. The point was, the law's the law. And. "It's illegal." Her face was grave.
"O-oh..." Oh. Boy, did she feel stupid. With all the blushing she was doing, Amelia's cheeks could have passed for a tomato. "Sorry. I just thought..."
Wow. Such a huge misunderstanding. "That's good. I was worried about him, too. I just thought..."
Wow!
... Why was she repeating herself, and not saying what she thought?
>>"So... That means you aren't... dating... anyone else, then?"
It was Sveta's turn to blush. Again. It looked like they were taking turns. In blushing. Huh.
"No." she shook her head "I have not dated anyone for... a very long time." she admitted "Most people I know are mutants and I am not allowed to touch them. So." she shrugged "I guess I just haven't met guy worth dating."
She tilted her head at Ami.
"How about you?"
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
"Yeah, but." She glanced towards the kitchen, where sounds of cooking could be heard and smells, wafting from. "We can talk about that later. I have something more important to talk with you about. Now."
Sveta wasn't dating anyone. That was good. And she needed a human. Better. A guy worth dating? She knew who that was.
>>"Yeah, but. We can talk about that later. I have something more important to talk with you about. Now."
Sveta nodded.
"Okay?"
She was listening. It was enough talking about guys for now. Ami obviously had something very important to tell her, so she was all ears. She hoped this topic would end better than the previous one did.
"What is it?"

So, Aurum did have a reputation, after all. Sveta remembered Jude talking about him, and apparently Ami had something to say too. She really did not want to hurt anyone's feelings.
"He is very nice" she nodded with a smile "And a gentleman. I like living here. It feels much safer than the Mansion. Thank you."
