The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Hunter led her at a brisk pace through the forest, following the smell of horses in the air that would hopefully lead him to the carriage. His heart was pounding in his ears with every step. He would finally be happy, finally be content, as opposed to restlessly wondering the world seeking some sort of empty pleasure to pass the time. Emerging from the wood he saw the carriage waiting, Dominik holding the door open.
“I can see now why you had me offering the father such riches,” Dominik said in Romanian, “She is a rare beauty.”
“She knows of my deception of her father,” Hunter replied in English, “no need to hide it in our native tongue. Katherine, this is my most trusted aid, Dominik Mondragon.”
With that Dominik bowed. “It is a pleasure to meet you Katherine.”
Katherine rushed at high speeds through the forest, looking over her shoulder as much as she could to try and detect any followers. No one, and that made her heart beat less and less out of anxiety and more out of excitement. She had no idea how Hunter knew where he was going, but then again she had no idea he would have experience in sneaking through houses either. It seemed like hours had passed her by when they emerged at the forest's edge, the carriage waiting.
A large, intimidating man held the door open, and Katherine figured he worked for Hunter. Sure enough, he adressed Hunter in a tongue most alien to Katherine. Sighing, she finally understood what the large man said when Hunter clarified the statements and introduced her. Her apprehension towards Dominik faded a little as he bowed, her mind reminding her that looks could definetely be decieving.
She bent into a very prestigious curtsy, bending her wrists elegantly to fan out her dress as she had been taught to do since being able to walk. "It is also a pleasure to meet you, Dominik." She stood now in the formal manner. Looking about her, she knew that she had time to meet and greet later, as she didn't even know if anyone would be around. Smiling, she took the initiative and began to climb into the carriage.
"Better safe than sorry, no?" she asked with a playful air.
“Indeed it is,” said Hunter climbing in after her. At a nod from Hunter Dominik went and took seat next to the driver, outside the carriage. Closing the door Hunter turned to Katherine with a smile as the carriage set off.
“Well, now that I’ve whisked you away from your home and your family where should we go? We can go anywhere, anywhere in the world.” He would be happy anywhere so long as she was by his side.
(OOC: After Katherine’s closing words and thoughts I think that wraps this scene up, and I’ll get to writing it up)
Katherine sat in the carriage, still in a bit of shock. A goofy smile came across her face, as she turned to Hunter and kissed him with an unbridled joy that she found hard to control. Remembering her manners, she pulled back quickly, a blush creeping onto her face. "Sorry..." she giggled.
"Take me where you want to take me, I'm yours." she answered.
With that she surrendered herself to her new life, her old inhibitions melting away.
After they had been in the carriage for quite some time, Katherine leaned her head on Hunter's shoulder. She felt reassured with his presence, as though what she had just done wasn't as bad as she had percieved at first. Looking around, she realized she was farther out than she had ever been within the area before, and a slight ripple of anxiety washed over her.
Looking up at Hunter's face, her expression was one of excitement but slight fear. "Where are we headed?" she asked, placing a hand on his cheek.
What she needed most was reassurance, a little bit of courage to keep from returning to what she knew.
Hunter placed his arm around her and gave a reassuring smile. “We are ultimately heading to my ancestral home, Transylvania. I have seen your home and now wish to show you mine. From there we can go anywhere in the world you would like, the Far East, the depths of Africa or across the ocean to America.”
Home. He had not been their in over sixty years, and would be returning a new man. None of the locals would recognise him after all this time, and so claiming to be the latest in line of the Antonescu family would not be difficult.
He was glad, as in the past the problem was solved by killing all who would recognise him, but he had lost the passion for the hunt, replaced with a passion for Katherine. While he would still need to feed to live, he would no longer kill his victims, or hunt for pleasure. He would only take enough to survive.
Katherine smiled and placing her head on his chest, closed her eyes. She let thoughts of him wash over her, and thoughts of being in Transylvania excite her. Opening her eyes slightly, she looked out the window to see the country side changing to that of a wilder atmosphere than that of the towns passed.
She soon closed her eyes and drifted into a light sleep, comforted by Hunter. A dream began to take over her, one of being Hunter's wife and seeing the world with him. She wrapped her arms around his torso as she dreamnt, relaxing fully for the first time in a week. On her face was a small smile, her breathing calm and relaxed.
Hunter watched Katherine as she slept peacefully. In contrast to her calm sleep his mind was full of turbulent thoughts, all centred on one thing. His powers. How could he ever tell her that he needed to drink human blood to survive? That unless he drank every three days he would suffocate and die.
Worse than the hunger was the immortality. He had lived for a long time, some may say too long. In that time he had done a great many terrible deeds. Entire villages he had butchered on a whim, whole families slaughtered because of the small slight of a single individual. How could he ever justify that to her when he was failing to justify it to himself?
With difficulty he pushed those thoughts aside. There would come a time when he would have to confess all to her, and hope that their love would survive, but not now, not yet. For the moment it was too fragile to sustain such a thing. Instead he just leant back and enjoyed the ride to the port. While having Katherine run away with him was unplanned, he was packed as he was changing lodging, and so they were now heading straight for his homeland.
Katherine dreamnt of exotic lands rich in colors and culture, and of the deep passion that her and Hunter felt. She fell deeper and deeper into her slumber, the relaxing tidal wave of relieved fatigue washing over her. Snuggling closer to Hunter, she remained asleep for hours.
Waking slowly a while after, she found that night had fallen. She opened her eyes wide, her pupils adjusting to the light. She saw all around her a large town, its inhabitants either sleeping or milling about. Looking around, she realized it wasn't Transylvania, but another place altogether still in the landscape of England.
"Are we staying here through the night?" she asked, sitting up.
Through the ride Hunter’s thoughts shifted to getting them to Transylvania as soon as possible. As night fell the reached the port, and Hunter sent Dominik to find an inn for the evening. In the morning they would find a bout bound for mainland Europe and be on their way. He felt Katherine stir in his arms as she awoke from her slumber.
“Yes, Dominik has just gone to find us a room for the night.” As if on cue Dominik opened the carriage door.
“Sir, I have found us rooms for the night and a stable for the horses.”
“Thank you Dominik,” Hunter got out the coach and held out his hand to help Katherine down.
Hearing that indeed they were to stay the night, she smiled and stepped down. Looking about her, she frowned. Realizing how poorly thought out her escape was, she realized she should have brought along at least a nightgown. And, now that she thought of sleeping, a blush came to her cheeks. Sleeping... Where would she sleep? Together... In the same bedroom as Hunter? She wanted to, her heart drew herself to him, but her standards screamed a blatant no through her mind.
As they walked towards the inn, she was quiet, her thoughts swirling around her mind as her hand clung to that of Hunter's. Finally reaching the establishment, she looked it over. A richly made inn, it's build was a quaint but lovely one nonetheless. Stepping inside, it was cozy and warm, with a sort of living room area inside that made her smile. Armchairs were arranged nicely around a fireplace, and the innkeeper was very polite.
As they neared the moment to go to their rooms, Katherine looked about her uncertainly. She stood, waiting to see how the rooms were arranged. Even though she knew that she shouldn't, a quite large part of her wanted to sleep beside Hunter, feel his relaxing presence soothe her to sleep once again.
Hunter kissed Katherine’s hand gently before releasing it and moving to speak to the innkeeper. He was an old, grizzled man, with a scar running down his left cheek. “Sir, I require two rooms for the night.”
“Certainly sir,” came the gruff reply, “that’ll be four shillings.”
“Here,” Hunter pulled out five shillings, “See that we are not disturbed,” he said handing the coins over.
“Aye sir, none shall disturb you or your pretty lady,” he said, giving Katherine a lewd smile.
Continuing to smile and speak calmly Hunter added, “Look at her like that again and I’ll have cursing your mother for ever bringing you into this world.”
Taken aback the innkeeper hastily nodded, then called a boy from the back to show them to their rooms. Hunter took Katherine’s hand again as they headed upstairs. Dominik and the coach driver, Charles, went to their room across the hall while Hunter led Katherine into hers.
“This is your room. I’ll sleep in the armchair,” he said, gesturing to the one across from the bed, “or in the other room, which ever you prefer.” He wanted to be in her room to watch over her, and protect her from anyone who came to threaten her. But, if she’d rather he slept with Dominik and Charles then he would.
Katherine smiled and stepped into the room. Looking around, she saw a large four poster bed, a vanity, and a large armchair. Looking to Hunter, she felt torn. On one hand, she could send him to the other room and preserve whatever sort of ties to the rational world she had, or she could leave him in the room like she so desperately wanted. Looking almost distressed, she turned away from him.
"I don't have a nightgown." she mumbled, fiddling with her hands.
Not to mention, she had only a slip that she could sleep in. It was white, and incredibly sheer. Turning back around slowly, her eyes looked everywhere before meeting his. But once she did so, she saw all of the reasons she had left her old home behind; particularly the love she felt. Stepping closer to him, she placed a hand on his chest.
"Stay here. And you don't have to sleep in the armchair... It would be very uncomfortable."
Smiling, she stood on her tip toes to give him a kiss.
Hunter smiled as she made her decision. It was what he had wanted, but had restrained himself from asking. When she mentioned her lack of nightgown he realised that she had only collected the odd trinket before they had left, and was not well prepared for travel.
“If you like I could see about procuring a nightgown,” he offered, “and tomorrow, before we board the ship we’ll see about buying you suitable attire for travelling.” While Hunter was still currently well dressed from meeting with her father, he had a more comfortable set of travel clothes that he usually wore.
He was seeing the current impracticalities that they had brought on with their hasty departure, but none of them were insurmountable. The more he was with her the more he began to believe that nothing they could face would be a serious obstacle, possibly even the nagging doubt at the back of his mind.
She smiled, standing at her normal height. Looking about her, she blushed as she couldn't believe what she was doing--from being whisked away by a handsome stranger to travelling far to a land like Transylvania; and especially to being in a room about to become almost naked in front of the same handsome stranger. At the same time however, she felt daring, like she had left her old world and entered a new one, more vibrant and wonderful than she knew things could be. Deciding that she should shed her inhibitions, she began to visibly relax.
"Don't bother anyone about a nightgown at this hour--I'm fine. I simply needed to grow up a little." she said with a laugh.
Moving to undo her buttons, her nimble fingers worked down the seven on the back to her corseted bodice. Unlacing, she then undid the last three. Finally, with only a slight bit of hesitation, she pulled her arms out of the dress and let it slide down, standing right before Hunter. Her slender figure was almost completely seen through the sheerness of the white slip, her curvy waist and chest accented. Now reaching up to undo her hair, she pulled the pins out and let her long chestnut brown hair fall to her hips. She stepped out of the dress on the floor and picked it up, laying it across the armchair.
Turning around, she looked at Hunter once again. "Well, that wasn't as mortifying as I'd expected." she said with a smile. She looked much older then, with an aura of sensuality that she hadn't had previously. She moved to the edge of the bed and sat, laying back. It was comforting, and she relished the feeling of laying horizontally as she had been sitting the whole day.
